The Pad Thai was good, the tofu moist, the noodles cooked perfectly. The service was good, the decor simple, not tacky. All in all, it is a great place to go on a Friday night.

It started out okay. The food tasted okay and the atmosphere was not too bad. The service messed up my order and when I asked for separate checks more than once, they still came back with only one. Now here's the thing: I ordered something fairly mild and I thought it would sit well. A half an hour passes, and my friend and I got really sick. I wouldn't go back there again.

I have been eating here for over 6 years now. The quality is always consistent. The BEST Thai food to be found in Maine!!!!

Shocked to see that this place isn't rated 4.5 stars. Their Pad Thai is the best I've had in Portland (I like the Tofu Pad Thai especially). Drunken Noodle, Red Curry, and Masaman Curry are also excellent. Portions are massive - I almost always have leftovers. I usually get take-out, but it's a pleasant place to eat in as well. Only complaint I have heard is that the spice level can be inconsistent. I haven't run into that recently though so hopefully it's a thing of the past!

The chicken spring rolls were fresh and good just to much lettuce in them. The chicken snow pea stir fry was amazing! Hot , fresh and crisp peas. Small place but very clean and cozy ..

Veranda Thai is quite the meal, and I mean that in a good way. It is exactly what Portland needed, a delicious cuisine filled with a pallette of millions of different and intelligent combinations. The reason that I rated it as 4 and not 5 is because there service is not great. many times I have gone there and it has taken them a while to get food, and once we ordered delivery and they were 1 hour late prior to when we ordered. how ever, their food is exceptional, the cost is about a medium amount and I would highly recommend veranda Thai as long as you can wait a couple extra minutes.

This is based solely on take out - so nothing about decor, ambience, service etc. I am sick, craving some Tom Yum, and this hit the spot. Tangy, a little sweet, and definitely with a kick, it was chock full of onions, mushrooms, some tomato - and something I don't usually see - pineapple? Have I been missing out on real Tom Yum or is this just a special Veranda Thai thing? Anyway, very tasty. Spring roll was pretty standard and the drunken noodles were a-okay as well. I'm liking the location, since it's in between my house and my in-laws house.

Just ordered some take out from Veranda Thai based on Yelp reviews. The chicken Pad Thai was awesome - my favorite part was the charred flavor it had. For $10 got enough for 2 meals. Of course, it was so good I ate more than I should have in one sitting, shortchanging meal #2..... Will def return.

Best Thai food in Maine, hands down I've been to VT many, many times and am yet to be disappointed in a single dish. I can't admit to have tried every thing at the Veranda Thai, but their spring rolls are fresh and crunchy, their Tom Yum is the perfect balance of Thai spices, although you can have the spiciness level be adjusted your tastes, the beef salad is wonderfully refreshing, the drunken noodles are a great surprise, and the Pad Thai is to die for. The service may not be exceptional, the place may feel a little divey, the heat will usually be turned up too high, but the food is simply divine.

Flavorful thai food at a good price and huge portions. The family who runs this restaurant are also incredibly nice. We showed up at 5min after close the other evening and the owner stayed late and made us food to go. We got the basil fried rice and phad thai. The phad thai was the standard peanut and noodle goodness, but the basil fried rice was out of this world! Very flavorful, I was very impressed. We got 3 meals from each of the take home dishes.

Vietnamese making Thai. They put fish sauce in all their food and cannot make dishes without fish sauce even on request. Even Thai dishes that are not traditionally made with fish sauce, they add fish sauce. A decent place in terms of decor and service and I even made the mistake of eating here without asking if a dish had fish sauce. I didn't taste the fish sauce and it tasted good.

I have been here twice. Both times I have had their drunken noodles once to go and once at the restaurant. I got it regular but there are I believe 5 levels of spice for the more daring. For whatever the reason, the food tasted 10x better at the restaurant. Maybe it's because I got it with chicken and not tofu? Anyways, it completely swayed my opinion in a positive direction. The lunch special is great as you get soup and a small appetizer with your meal which were both very good for around $11. The place is small with not a large amount of seating and my party of 5 felt slightly cramped in the outdoor section. The service was good, not great but the food was out much faster than anticipated which is always a pleasant surprise. I look forward to returning to try entrees besides the drunken noodles.

Their fried rice and pan noodles are amazing! We eat here regularly, at least monthly, and always get consistent, great food! Don't be fooled by the setting/building, their food is great! Service is OK, nothing to rave about, but no issues. They only have a few tables for dine-in, so I generally do take-out.

You don't have to be a drunken noodle to appreciate this tasty Thai. The atmosphere is ... authentic. The servers, cook, and staff take breaks in the dining room to converse and eat. You likely won't understand their conversations. Service is speedy and friendly, meals served with a smile. Best of Portland.

Nice little hidden gem off Washington ave. came on afternoon with my mom and had ordered from their lunch specials. We were blown away. For $8.95 you get soup, appetizer, and your chosen dish followed by fresh slices orange for dessert. Very fresh, and tasty. I had the famous pad Thai and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Thai lovers or not. My mom had the chicken and cashews which was also very good. Clean restaurant, a little quiet, but Constant pickup orders.

Always a reliable choice! First off, they have parking! That is a breath of fresh air in Portland. It's just a hop, skip and a jump off of 295, so one cannot complain about the distance from the usual downtown scene. I'm a fan of traditional thai noodle dishes and I've found this place to be reasonably priced. The menu is a little difficult to navigate if one has never been to a noodle bar, but there are also stir fry options if you're not into slurping down your chow. I have the sweet basil stir fry with tofu and chicken. It was a little overly sauced but the veggies were nice and crisp. Also, any place with a $7 glass of wine (or two) to wash it all down with, is fine by me! It's fast service too! Favorite thing on the menu: the fresh spring rolls with shrimp!

Love this place. My family is friends with the owner, but I'm not just giving a good review because I know them. It's a pretty small place, but the food is fantastic!! I would recommend this to everyone.

Best spring rolls I've ever had. Cold and refreshing, with lots of crispy veggies and mint. Amazing! I crave them all the time. The people working here are so friendly! Always a smile for their customers and the delivery is fast. A+ every day of the week.

When you first enter this establishment, you need to go through the newly built doorway sitting right across the street from the Veranda Noodle Bar and right next to Howie's Pub. We came here when the weather was frigid and we needed a warm pick-me-up!! We started off with a complimentary soup that was warm and had a little kick but other than that was pretty sub par lacking in flavor and depth in the soup that was more broth than anything else. We had a dumpling appetizer that was both fresh and delicious. They were not your typical fried dumpling but of course the much more healthy steamed dumpling with a delicious soy sauce to drizzle over the top. For the main course we dove into the delicious Pad Thai that was both fresh and perfect with the crunch of the bean sprouts that they layer in with the dish. My friend got his with some extra spice and it had kick for days that made his eyes water but he said it never lost the flavor (which is key) The service was great and prompt. Give this little "hole in the wall" restaurant a chance if you want some good food .. you wont be dissapointed.

Best Thai in Portland. The waitresses at this restaurant are warm and friendly. LOVE the coconut soup and the chicken pad thai. I have gone to this establishment for years and have always had awesome Thai food.

Was really excited to try Veranda Thai but was slightly disappointed and really just wanted to a redo of my order at Sala Thai. Kinda bummed. But on a positive note; cute little place, nice wait staff and decent prices!

Whatever you do, do not order delivery. It takes at least an hour and a half to get your food. Tried several times, each a disaster. The food is fine, pad thai is good but service is ridic. Even when you order for pick up it takes forever.

My go-to place for Drunken noodles. I can't say the same for the other items on the menu. Pad thai - it's okay, I wouldn't go here for that. As for the drunken noodles, it's a great portion. I sometimes have to togo my plate. It's a good bang for your buck.

Tonight I treated my kids to Pad Thai. Too bad we chose Veranda. It was so unappetizing even my kids refused to eat more than 1/4 of their dish. I know that Pad Thai is not generally the greatest way to sample Thai cuisine, but given that I was ordering for kids, it seemed like a safe bet. Wrong. We got the tofu version, and that's all we got. The dish consisted solely of rice noodles, bean sprouts, peanuts, and tofu. Each dish was garnished with a lemon wedge. No scallions, no lime, no cilantro, no broccoli or cucumber or other vegetable. Just a big serving of off-white noodles--with a tooth-achingly sweet sauce. Just sweet--no other dimension to the sauce. Huge disappointment. Will not be ordering from this place ever again.

Fresh spring rolls need to have fresh, clean, deveined shrimp. Theirs did not and it was the first item we ate, which didn't leave a good impression. Pad thai was a bit syrupy for my tastes. We will return to try it again - perhaps an off night.

Just moved to Portland and a friend insisted I had to try this place. Wasn't sure what to expect from Thai food in Maine, but I was impressed. The free hot tea was really a nice touch, it had some great flavor. Lunch specials were around eight bucks, but I opted for the 13 dollar panang curry, which for some reason had pineapple. I was a little surprised, but it added a great note to the spice. I asked for the fourth level of spiciness, which wasn't at all overpowering but could be felt. Portions were generous, which almost balanced out the price; the Thai iced tea could use a little love.

UPDATE: Seems like the more times I frequent there, the more I realize they are VERY inconsistent. My last experience was Veranda Lomein. Ordered 4 star, got 0 star. Was plain, and tasteless at best. Unfortunately not the first poor experience. Won't go back unless desperate on the way home for quick take out. And I also have been a little disappointed at times that they seem to switch the noodles in the Veranda lo mein.. one day its spaghetti, and another time looks like linguini? Not sure what's up with that... And I've had a few occasions they've been out of dumplings. How can you run out of dumplings... that's like McDonald's running out of fries? Because of this they now get 2 and not 4 stars. Consistency people... I don't like surprise dishes! All in all an okay little place whether you eat in or take out. In the summer time they have a nice little deck that seats 10 or so. Gives a whole different feel to the dining experience. They also run a Thai Noodle bar right across the street that is a little more formal and a lot more expensive. But that review is for another time...

I really like this place! I've ordered in from here a bunch of times and delivery is always pretty speedy. I've ordered the red curry with chicken and the Snow Peas (that's the name of the entree... it's cooked in a garlic sauce and has other veggies) with Shrimp. The Snow Peas dish was good. The red curry dish was very good. Prices are slightly higher than some other Thai joints but Veranda is the only one that delivers to Falmouth. I'll take it!

I'll be back ... looking for an alternative to a more local thai restaurant. I got drunken noodles with tofu, pad thai, dumplings, and some spring rolls. Very impressed with the noodles and the dumplings were rich and delicious. I'll wait to judge the consistency but on this first impression the flavor profile was more complex than a place near my home. There were hints of wok char in my noodles -- that great flavor of something cooked in high heat, and it had a perfect sauce.

What a bipolar dining experience. A pot of Thai tea comes out first, on the house--nice touch, not expected. I'm encouraged. Then the tom yum soup arrives...and it's the weirdest and worst tom yum I've ever had: the flavor profile is all wrong (not enough lemongrass etc., not enough spice), and there's chunks of pineapple(!) and uncooked salad tomatoes in there. Wut?! Okay, I'm distinctly discouraged now. But THEN the chicken green curry arrives, and it's huge (though the complimentary rice bowl is a bit skimpy) and pretty delicious. Respect. However, the curry cost $12, which seems a little steep to me for Thai food in an unassuming little restaurant that's not in the most pleasant part of Portland and has a noisy old air conditioner thrumming away in the corner. Overall, the curry salvaged a 3-star rating for this place, but that soup was weird. I won't be back.

my favorite Thai place in Portland .... and there are so many to choose from! really easy to get to from the East End.....just over the bridge on outer Washington. their portions are so generous! and they make my favorite massaman curry.

This place is unbelievable. Probably one of the best Thai places I've ever been to. Drunken noodles, Pad Thai, and Red Curry all so good. Do not miss the fried spring rolls either. Word to the wise: if you ask for a 4 on the spicy chart (out of 4) it is VERY spicy. But that's exactly what we wanted...

Mmmm. I agree w/ the other reviewers. TONS of food for the $$. I got the Radnar two stars. It had enough spice to make my eyes water a little bit so i have no idea what 4 stars would be like... woa! The noodles were good- kept their shape and weren't soggy. They also weren't swimming in sauce as other Radnar dishes I've had which I prefer though I'm not sure which way its suppose to be served. There were chunks of pineapple, onion, red pepper and broccoli in mine that were a great compliment to the HUGE pieces of chicken found throughout. Also had the fresh spring rolls which no joke are like 8 inches long. Very fresh ingredients, everything had a nice crunch to it and the peanut sauce was delicious. It wasn't overly thick or sweet which some of them can be. All in all a good find for portland since its hard to find good Thai food around. Can't wait to check out the noodle place across the street.

So far, hands down, best Thai in Portland. The chicken satay was amazing. The peanut sauce, also amazing. The suttle flavors were perfect to my taste and every bite savored. Their fried rice is also delicious. I've had a few different things here, some were great, some were just good. Nothing I've had here has been so-so. The staff has always been super attentive and very friendly. Their beer list is adequate and standard. Though, the addition of some draft Sapporo or Tiger would be nice... neither are Thai, but both are delicious. I saw someone mentioning their inconsistent quality. I would have to agree. However, so far, the quality hasn't dropped lower than a three star rating in my book, and has occasionally peaked a five. I have to give it a solid four. Tonight, I had three appetizers for dinner. Spring rolls, chicken satay and the tom kha gai. It was a great combo if you're hungry. Next time I plan to get the beef yum. I have high hopes.

  • Peter H.

No flavor. No spice. Too many carrots. Green peppers in the pad thai and no galangal. The fresh spring rolls were cut into quarters. The chicken satay were all right but the peanut sauce was watery. Granted, it was take out but this food was bland and pedestrian. We won't go back,

The food is sooooo good. There are a lot of great Thai restaurants in Portland, and I'm happy to add this to my list of favorites. The service was a little slow, but maybe just because they thought we wanted to be left alone. Food was delicious: we asked for 3 star spicey and our friends asked for 1 star, and it was all perfect to our varied tastes. I reccomend the Tom Yum soup, Massaman Curry, Fresh Spring Rolls, and Drunken Noodles. All very well done.

This is a great little Thai Place! You really get your money's worth especially during lunch hours. I have yet to have a bad dish as I continue to systematically order from the menu. Amazing Red Curry, Amazing Pad Thai! and ofcourse my favorite, the drunken noodles with beef mmmm

  • Vicky G.

The food is decent and they do deliver, but out of three times I had them deliver it took anywhere from 45 min to an hour and a half and I live within 5 miles of them. When I called to inquire why my food was taking so long, I didn't even get as much as an apology, so needless to say customer service is definitely lacking.

This is fantastic Thai food. They give you so much food, but it is quality. I am always happy no matter what I order here, although I usually get a noodle dish.
