Recently changed hands. Definitely not the same. Not as clean in the kitchen and heard they are using some frozen fish. Portions have changed too. Miss those cute friendly girls behind the counter. I would get food there at least once a week. Sorry, not going back unless I have to.

Showed up 10 minutes prior to opening and the super-friendly staff went out of their way to make sure we knew we were welcome, offering to take our order early if we were willing to wait the few minutes to eat. Lobster roll was fresh, tasty, not too much mayo and the roll was perfectly toasted! A delightful find!!

Saw 3 things on Sunday night that instantly told me something had changed at the Lost Gull. I've been there a hundred times over the past 10 years and Sunday was the first time a guy took my order. It's always been pretty, young women. I then noticed that the kitchen was dirty. Never saw that before. Finally, our portions were smaller. Same taste, just smaller. Looks like new ownership, complete new staff. I'll visit a couple more times to see if things have improved. Otherwise, it's not special any more.

The food was excellent. The lobster roll was only $11, the lowest price I've seen in Maine. I love this place!

Stop here everytime we head to/from the lake house...I'm a huge lobster roll fan and these always hit the spot. Warm and buttery, the way you want them. It's also really nice when they have the smoothie shack open (watermelon is great). We always take friends through here! Had the onion rings once, and honestly the portion was so large, I started to feel sick after a few. Sadly, the only bathroom is a portapotty in the lot that turns into a hot box of death in the summer.

Mmmmm good food!!! I've only been there a couple of times I can't wait to go back! Great place to stop for good fried seafood!

Teensy tiny little parking lot is only problem....especially since this place is so popular. And deservedly so....great fried haddock....not overly battered....delicious thick onion rings...good fries......but the star of our visit was the amazing crab roll!!! So much Maine crabmeat....very little mayo...piled into a griddled hot dog bun.....it is pretty small...but really enough as it is sooooo rich....plus I think it was less than $8 .....so get two if you're gluttonous! Definitely will return next time we are in town looking to throw away money at the casino down the road!

Nice roadside place to stop and get a local bite, yes things like lobstah rolls and fried seafood come to mind. However, portion to price is a bit on high side. Went to Daddy O's down the road a bit on the next day and got same lobstah roll with side of fry's and cole slaw for roughly $3t less. Honestly this is a good place to stop by are better options and value in area, just have to look for them!

Stopped here on our way home from Papoose Pond. Excellent food and quick service. Clam chowder was great, fried haddock was great, husband got the swordfish sandwich and loved it. Will def be back when in the area. Loved that they had outdoor tables since we had our pup.

Best seafood in the area and reasonably priced! Staff are friendly and courteous. Small but if nice weather, enjoy your meal outside or to go!

Clean place. Great food selection. They had really good kids meal choices as well. I wasn't wild about their french fries. They were little overcooked. Fried shrimp was okay, maybe a little on the bland side.

Reading the other reviews we were excited to stop in on a Sunday afternoon when we found ourselves in the area. Seems very popular. I really wanted to enjoy the food...the fries were awesome, tartare sauce homemade and delish, coleslaw amazing but....fish smelt a little fishy. Mr H ate it regardless and didn't get sick so I could be oversensitive but I don't think fish should smell at all fishy.... It's a cute little casual place on the side of the road and we'll probably try it again and update then..... I imagine parking would be a nightmare in high season.

Whenever you travel to Maine, you feel the incessant need to get a lobster roll. Often, when you come from a place (like Boston) where lobster rolls abound, this really doesn't make any sense. Nonetheless, you can't pass up search out lobster to get the full on experience of Maine. Lost Gull appears to be a place set up for people in this mindset. On the highway up to the mountains, it just calls for hungry travelers. A wood-paneled fish, tiny roadside fish shop - really, how can you turn away? Lobster rolls are always disappointing. This is not Lost Gull's fault - there is a demand for them. But they are tiny and expensive and still leave you hungry. Every time, I knew I should have ordered something else. But still, as far as lobster rolls go, it was packed full of lobster and pretty delicious. Still, I strongly coveted my friend's meal of fish and chips. Those were delicious. And filling.

Most of the menu is terribly over priced. yes, its seafood and seafood is expensive, but it seemed a bit extreme to me. their food is tasty

The place is always packed. The parking lot is small, but... So we decided to stop and finally try it. The shrimp roll was a pile of tiny shrimp served on a buttered and grilled roll and a filling and tasty bargain at $2.99. The haddock plate (on special at $7.99) had nuggets of fried haddock and served with fries that were just fine.
