Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Holy crap this place is fantastic! We went on our vacation and ended up going back with more family members to share the experience. Food: fresh, homemade and simple - I can't even explain how great their chipotle crema is! Drinks: creative with a smattering of house-infused spirits. Their rum punch is not for the tame, but it is as smooth as can be. Atmosphere: great during the day to chill out; lively and fun at night. The kitchen is outdoors on the deck and adds to the beachy atmosphere. Can't wait to head back next year - love this place.

We chose this place in large part due to the fact that it was out of town and had a parking lot. We ended up being here during happy hour and were lucky enough to get half price tacos and $4 margaritas. My MIL, FIL and husband enjoyed tacos of various flavors (my MIL really enjoyed her lobster taco, while my husband said the steak tacos were also great) while I had their chicken skewer with rice. The chicken was seasoned well with just a bit of a kick, and also was larger than what I would have expected to come on a skewer. We all shared chips and salsa (homemade chips and a freshly made pico de gallo type raw salsa) and a couple of us had margaritas (very large and quite potent for $4). The setting was also very pretty with all of us sitting on a big outdoor deck with an awning type cover. Our server was very attentive and friendly - I'd definitely recommend for a casual dinner in the area.

Good skinny margarita, awesome taco salad! Went for lunch Nd everyone enjoyed their food. Great outdoor atmosphere, friendly staff. Would come back again for sure!

Great atmosphere...great music and they had longboard on draft. That about ends it though. Came with a party of 9 and 7 of us were quite underwhelmed with our meals...starting with the bland pico de Gallo and chips. Also, the service was sub par...had to ask for drink refills more than once despite the place not being busy. Too many great places to eat in Wells and Ogunquit to consider returning to this pricey failure.

I want to like this restaurant, I really do. Despite claiming I would never eat there again after last year's bad meal, I was dragged back for one more try. Unfortunately after this, my 3rd visit in as many years, I have to give them even one less star than last year. In fact, if I could give 0 stars I would. First there was the bartender who literally threw our paper beer coasters at us as we were sitting at the bar after giving the space in front of us a cursory swipe with a nasty bar cloth. They were out of the Gritty's Red Claw I tried to order and strangely the bartender tried to tell me I would really love another local IPA in it's place...well that might be true if what I had been trying to order was an IPA. Every drink is served in a plastic cup- the kind that are washable. I really hate drinking my beer from that type of plastic. A woman seated next to us sent her wine back because her plastic cup was obviously dirty...unfortunately our beer cups were dark colored so we were unable to determine the cleanliness of those. That said, the next thing to appear was a plastic dish with some boring taco chips and the most tasteless salsa I have EVER had. It had obviously been sitting out behind the bar for some time, just waiting for the next unsuspecting patron. A look at the menu indicated Hook's was still going for the taste of the Caribbean, but with some tacos and other weird stuff like bbq chicken and lobster roll thrown in. My dining companions ordered the taco trio- chicken, pork, beef. I ordered some spicy salsa verde because nothing on that menu looked appealing to me. When the tacos arrived it was difficult to determine which one was which because all of the meat was so overcooked that it looked the same. Tasting them, the meat was like mush, flavorless and without even basic salt. BBQ sauce was requested in an attempt to give the tacos some much needed flavor; what they serve is your basic bottled version but it did help. The tacos came with a side of "ginger slaw", which was just shredded cabbage with a dab of dressing hastily poured over the top. The "spicy salsa verde" was just some tomatillos ground up in a food processor, with NOTHING ELSE added, not even salt! Unbelievable, and for $5 for a tiny cup, I asked that it be removed from our bill. As we sat at the bar we had the opportunity to watch the bartender pre-mix a big pitcher of margaritas and help himself to a big cup before putting it in the fridge. Periodically he would mop his sweaty forehead with a rag that he kept hanging over his shoulder. Gross. This place is disgusting, dirty, and without a clue as to how to prepare even the most basic of foods. How anyone could give them 4 or 5 stars is beyond me, unless they pay people to write those reviews. UGH.

Great place to grab a drink, some super fresh food and just chill. Menu is limited but has something for everyone. Ingredients are all fresh and on the lighter side which was perfect for a hot day. Good beer selection, good mojitos. Very cool, relaxed, island vibe. You would think you were hanging beach side in the carribean.

I just discovered this place last night with some friends. We happened to wander in when they were doing a joint PBR and O'Neil promotion. Needless to say it was busy but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The beer selection here is great. I was feeling a bit nostalgic and opted for just a 16 ounce PBR. I ordered a fish burrito and some corn salsa. The burrito was cooked perfectly and the salsa was very tasty. The service was very good and the atmosphere was fantastic. Great atmosphere, cold beer, and tasty food. The perfect recipe for success. Do yourself a favor and stop by Hook's next time you're in Ogunquit. I wasn't disappointed and you won't be either.

Hooks offers a nice alternative to the sometimes stuffy atmosphere of OGT. Simple menu but good food and cheap prices on drinks and food alike! Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fun! Definitely one of my favorite places to go for a casual night out!

Good food. Good Drinks. Limited Menu, but great outdoor atmosphere. Plus right next to the surf shop.

The warm lobster roll is to die for. The frozen drinks not that great. Maybe their blender needs a fresh but the ice was all melted.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We had a 15 minute wait, even though there were at least 3 empty tables and no one in front of us. 4 out of 5 of us ordered the NE clam chowder, which one shouldn't be able to mess up in Maine, of all places, but it was HORRIBLE. It was made with bacon, and that was the only thing we could taste - salty, salty bacon. We couldn't finish it. Another party ordered the chicken quesadilla - quite the contrary, this had no flavor/seasoning whatsoever. The fish tacos barely had any fish in them, the burrito was flavorless/sauceless, and the baked stuffed fish was nearly uneatable...the stuffing was brownish/gray and smelly. I think I'd chalk this experience up to the worst meal I've ever had. Question: How can you go wrong with seafood in Maine? Answer: Go to Hook's

I really want to like this place, but after approximately 6 visits, I cannot recommend it. The food is bland and rather pricey. The salsa has no taste what so ever. Umm....how about some cilantro, lime, and cumin...that might help. They serve the draft beer in dark blue plastic cups so you can't see what you are drinking. The bartenders haven't been particularly friendly in past visits either. Thankfully, they upgraded those horrible tall directors chairs at the bar. They were very uncomfortable. Hopefully they will tweak a few more things about the place before my next visit.

Lobster tacos were outstanding, prices reasonable, service ok...out door bar, seating area that is well worth a visit

Great pub atmosphere, in & outside. Drinks great guacamole great and good fish sandwich. We will be going back.

Good for beers and drinks , cool atmosphere for the games, nice new big screen, don't get the fish tacos , pulled pork quesadillas were good. The price for beers were good but for the fish tacos you would expect way more fish for the price.

AWESOME restaurant and FOOD!! FRESH, FRESH, FRESH!! We went here over the summer and had the best chicken sandwiches we have ever had (we went back the next two nights just for the sandwiches and homemade guacamole)! Another favorite were the Chicken Pincho (marinated chicken on skewers -amazing!) The outdoor seating is great for the summer weather in Maine! Fun bands and music playing and nice people. Plenty of parking and conveniently located on the trolly stop (if you have indulged yourself at the bar!) Loved this restaurant!

5/22/2015 --- under new ownership, I am thrilled with how delicious the food is. Night 2 in a row of eating here and we'll definitely finish out the weekend. Extended family dinner had something for everyone -- chicken burrito was seasoned amazingly and the ingredients are so fresh!! We also had some steak tacos, shrimp tacos, lobster taco and the chicken skewers. This did not disappoint. Craft beer on tap and a nice wine selection. Is great as a family oriented group to have a relaxing outdoor dinner at a family friendly restaurant with super fresh ingredients and great tunes. Will be making a summer of this spot!!!

Love the atmosphere and food was incredible. 3rd time already this year. Had the chicken and fish taco this time the best in the area. The lobster was perfection! The entire experience is worth a visit.

Great food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. There is plenty of outdoor seating and live entertainment that makes for a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The food is yummy and a nice change from the everything fried menus that seem to be common place in the area. The drinks were good too - flavorful but not overly sugary/sweet. Recommend trying the fish tacos.

A definite thumbs up! Have only had appetizers and drinks here, but have been very happy with both, on several occasions. Try the blueberry lemonade. Fresh, homemade lemonade with blueberry vodka and fresh mulled Maine blueberries, so refreshing! Friendly staff, great nachos...what else is there to say?

Crowded with kids, including kids sitting at the bar. Had the coconut encrusted haddock, which was delicious but the beans and rice were stone cold. My friend ordered the broiled scallops, which were way too salty. The waitress never stopped by to ask how our food was. The atmosphere was like a kids playground. An awful experience all around.

Ugh - fancy looking Applebee's. Gross food. To keep people coming in they have live music AND a magician... Stop here for drinks only!

Went to Hooks restaurant yesterday. Very limited menu........not even French fries or a hamburger. The chicken and steak burrito's were very tasty. We order a roasted corn salsa for an appetizer and it was tasteless. Came in a small plastic container with no serving spoon or serving dishes. Most of it ended up on the table. They should have a better selection of seafood, "HOOKS" is the name of the restaurant! They only had a "catch of the day" sandwich which was Mahi Mahi and Talapia taco's. We are in New England in Maine..... where was the haddock or cod? $18.00 for a fish dinner was absurd. Hope someone from the management reads this and makes some changes. It could be a great place as it has plenty of outdoor seating and on a beautiful day it is quite nice to eat outside. Expand the menu......not everyone wants rice and beans, roasted corn or asian slaw for a side. Offer some kind of potato, New England fish & chips and a hamburger or hot dog for kids.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Great relaxing beach friendly place with great food and drinks! The homemade salsas and guacamole are to die for! My favorite is the fish taco, my boyfriend loved the fish of the day sandwich! Staff was excellent and service was great! Perfect place to go to relax to have a great dinner or enjoy happy hour!

Hooks is great! Reasonable prices get you fresh, great food and the fish burrito is pretty epic. They have an excellent selection of "beach beers" and make a mean drink as well. If there is one thing you can hold against the restaurant it is the servers but its usually because the place is slammed. You can alway check out the surf shop while you are waiting for your table if it is one of those nights. Recommend highly for lunch or casual dinner.

The server was amateur though she meant well. The food quality was very poor. For example the rice was way dried up and the vegetables were soggy. The overpriced fish was dry. Save your dollars for a better place

I checked it out at happy hour. I loved the atmosphere not busy but it looked great. I was told there was music most nights and thought I would come back for some same night. I had a maine beer and two others. The price was more than twice what I would have paid at one of the local name places in the area. I said something to the bartender who seemed to be an owner of some kind$2.00 domestics. I was so disappointed. I can't go back to this place now. I would love to but prices for beer was like Fenway Park. no thanks, I wont go back.
