Did I go to the same Lobster Pound as the rest of you??? Went there recently with a group of friends... it looked cute and promising from the outside, but we were sorely mistaken. One friend found a DEAD BEETLE in his lobster roll!! Aside from the insect addition to the meal, the fries were soggy, the scallops tasted microwaved, and the fish was barely even breaded and the parts that were, were soggy. Deff would not recommend to anyone!

I'm perplexed by one of these reviews -- someone was disappointed that there wasn't a "mixed seafood plate"? This is a lobster pound, not a Red Lobster. People come here for fresh lobster, steamers, NE clam chowder, local corn on the cob, etc. Their specialty isn't fish or scallops or scampi or crab or whatever comes in a "mixed seafood plate." If you come here knowing this, you won't be disappointed. The lobster is extremely tender and sweet. Yes, the prices are high. But that's just because they know they're one of the best around, and the summer tourists will pay it. Also, skip the Sam Adams and get the local brew -- Shipyard's, a flavorful, hoppy beer. It's extremely good. If you don't like hoppy beer, then skip it. But if you do, then you'll like this one. It's one of my favorite beers -- period. You'll probably never find it outside of the immediate Maine area. So give it a try.

If you're looking for a real New England summer feast, go no further than the Lobster Pound. This place is busy and full of families. There's a gift shop to impress all your friends back at home with your lobster claw oven mitt or "Got Lobster?" t-shirt. You must wear the lobster bib supplied for you and make sure you take your camera. It's always fun to take pictures of your friends wearing a lobster bib. Corn on the cob, Sam Adams, various New England microbrews, lobster.... Heaven!

Extremely over priced for the portion sizes and quality of food. I had taken my girlfriend there for lobsters and walked out paying $130+ for some steamers, 4 drinks, and 3 lobsters. It's not bad ,but at their prices it isn't worth your time.

We have gone here every summer for years. At dinner time it is crowded and there is a long wait. Tonight was a disappointment, and that brought out the bad side of the LP. After 50 minutes we got to our table and waited to order. Then we waited about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Several items were forgotten for our easy-going party of six. The lobsters were small, the corn cobs were meager given that this is prime corn season and the nearby farms are loaded with large, succulent ears of corn on their stands. The good side is that smaller lobsters are more tender and sweeter. Nevertheless, not so good a night at the Lobster Pound. Plus who likes it when their waitresses double duty by bussing the tables, reaching their fingers into slimy glasses of whatever and then serving your meal in the next minute?

This is an ok place prices little steep but food ok. They need to offer a mixed seafood plate like other similar resteraunts. Draft beers need to be bigger than a small plastic cup.

My family and I spend most of the summer in Maine, and eat here often. The food and service have been fantastic every time we have gone, even when the restaurant is jam packed and there are tons of people waiting for a table. On one crazy busy night, I even observed one of the young guys outside cooking the lobsters stop what he was doing to show a little kid some live lobsters, and let him touch them. That clearly made that kid's day! The clam chowder has a wonderful taste, but it's mostly broth, and it is like that every time we go. That is always disappointing as it would be the perfect cup of chowder if it had a few potatoes and clams thrown in!

My parents own a house up here on Crescent Lake in Raymond and at least once a summer I need to have a lobster. We always come here and have them cook them up for us. Very nice staff and delicious food, I love coming here!

The lobster is great, but the place is a bit disjointed if you are ordering multiple items, e.g. Lobster, lobster rolls, steamers, fried clams, etc. - you have to go to two different windows. The fried clams are above average, but if you want just fried clams, make sure you indicate you do not want the "dinner" that comes with other stuff. When I ordered fried clams, the person on the other end kept asking me if I wanted veggies and fries and said they were included. We ended up with $19 fried clam dinners versus just the pint/quarts that we wanted originally wanted because the order taker was confused and kept focusing on the dinners. Pricey.

I love Lobster Pound. I have spend many of my summers in Maine and I often go to this place. Even though that they are always busy, I still want to go here. It is a good place for families to go - it is a very child-friendly place and I really live the atmosphere of the restaurant. A great place with fair prices. I can really recommend the lobster caesar salad

One word....Tourist trap. We tried the Lobster pound once and was very disappointed with the quality of the food we we're served. Would not recommend this place.

Have been going to The Lobster Pound for the last 8 yrs. Always been happy with the food. This year was horrible!!! Clam chowder was all broth. No clams and few potatoes. Also got fried clam meal and fried scallop meal. Clams were supposed to be whole belly and instead looked like clam strips. Scallops were adequate but nothing that we had in the past. Cole slaw was disgusting. So two meals and two chowders for $50. Can no longer recommend The Lobster Pound.

Yuck! Had mussels and half weren't even open (meaning they were dead before they were cooked), fried clams were chewy and greasy beyond compare - until I tried the fried scallops. Really disappointed to say the least.

this place is perfect... which is also why it is always packed. you want lobster... they got it. You can even watch it being cooked outside if you see fit. If you were not basically on a lake in Maine, you would swear you were sitting on a pier in a more fashionable ocean side local. Prices were tremendous as was their service and selection all around so... in a nutsell... don't just drive by... stop, eat and chill.

Great casual lobster spot. It's usually pretty crowded, but you can relax outside with a beer while you wait. Definitely recommended.

I vacation in this area every summer and I don't consider my vacation complete without a visit to the Lobster Pound. It's a relatively small wooden structure with an open screened dining room filled with varnished wood booths. There is also an inner dining room but hold out for the porch. There is an outside kitchen where they boil up lobsters in big pots. Although there is nothing spectacular about the food I find the overall ambiance of the place quite irresistible. This place makes me feel like a happy kid. In addition to lobster there is also fried seafood, fish, clams, scallops, broiled swordfish, lobster pie, etc. For those who do not eat seafood there is fried chicken, hot dogs and pizza. Decent cold beers to wash down your meal. Very casual, family friendly and accommodating service. No A/C so it can get hot in here. Between the restaurant and the separate gift shop there is a large painted lobster with a cut out head that you can take turns sticking your head in and taking silly pictures while you wait for a table.
