This place is truly amazing! Mike and Kim are wonderful host and they can make amazing food to satisfy any appetite. I had Prime Rib on the Saturday night I was there along fiddlehead salad and amazing piece of Pie at there new location- right next door to the old one. If I could give this more then 5 stars- I would!!

Surprised to find this place passing through Maine but it was some of the best barbecue I've had in a long time.

It's been almost a year since this place's most recent review, and it is time to confirm that they definitely deserve five stars. It may seem hard to maintain outstanding quality in a remote town in Maine but I spent many weeks with Texas BBQ the last two years, and this place would be among the best that I have experienced. Excellent, trusting service and the food as I've already implied could compete pretty much anywhere. This is a very important spot on the 2000+ mile Appalachian Trail, as Monson has been named as Maine's first Appalachian Trail community and is the last supply point for hikers attacking the 100 Mile Wilderness, the most isolated part of the trail. The owners welcome hikers, even if they have not been off the trail for days, and have good spaces for hikers, families, and members of the church across the street to eat in peaceful coexistence on a Sunday [[a special day for the restaurant, open at 8AM instead of their usual 10AM but be sure to call ahead about their hours]]. Aside from a pub open at noon and a typical mediocre gas station convenience store, this is the only place nearby to get a meal or to resupply. [[You can find an alternative within a few hundred feet, see shawslodging.com , but the notable amenities at Shaw's seem a little more intended for overnight guests, and even Shaw's recommend Spring Creek for meals that they don't serve.]] Hikers are fortunate that this place continues to excel at reasonable prices.

Stopped in to this little place on the way back from hiking Katahdin this past weekend. I've driven by many many times before and always say, I have to stop in there! I'm so glad that I did this time! The atmosphere is a great with the owners taking your orders and freshly preparing everything. I ordered the pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw and beans. I love the little bit of spice in the sauce...makes the pork almost perfect. I can't wait to stop back in on my next trip to the north country.

This place has a lot of character, and pretty good Texas Style Bar-B-Q. We're more used to eastern style BBQ (slathered with spicy/sweet/sticky sauce), so we were a bit surprised by the bold flavor and smokiness of this BBQ. Don't be off-put by the outward appearance (it does look a little out of place driving down the road in rural Maine- a little more like an old country house than a restaurant)- it is a good dinner, worth the stop. You order first, eat, and then pay at the counter when you're done. They also have large desserts that are cheap! So save some room!

Mike and Kim Witham run the best barbeque joint this side of Dallas in a sleepy town of 600 in northern Maine called Monson that's one town before you reach gorgeous Moosehead Lake, which holds 25% of the fresh water in the entire state. Kim and Mike are both Mainers, but have traveled the country looking for great barbeque and even better camping. Mike smokes a mean pit. I've heard women propose to him after tasting his pork chops. Kim is a great cook on everything from cole slaw to deviled eggs. They also sell art, host live music and carry delicious Louisiana hot sauces like Slap Yo Mama. Stopping at Spring Creek has become a ritual for my whole extended family over the past seven years. No matter where I've traveled, I've never tasted better barbequed pork, ribs, beef, chicken, or brisket. They're both great fun to hang out with, and Mike is a natural-born storyteller.

DO NOT TRUST THE LISTED ADDRESS! I don't know what it is, but this is the second address in Maine that was soooo completely wrong. Anyways, they close at 8, decided at 7:30 to try them out. Didn't realize that they were walking distance to where I was staying, because Yelp tells us that it was like 5 miles north. So we drove. Nothing..just trees. Its now 7:45. Nothing but trees on the way back. Finally we found the old building that this use to be in, and it said something about "moved 2 houses north" which means, literally, next door. Luckily they were still open, but by this time they were out of a lof meat, except for the chicken thigh special 3/5$ I got that and a couple sides and my friend got a burger and something else. Our total as $18. We had a LOT of food and it was $18. The mac and cheese was the best, the baked beans were yum and the chicken was nicely smoked. The atmosphere was a very cozy, cabin feel. You order at the bar, which can be slow, and then pick it up at another window when they call you. Return all of your trash and plates to the same area. Good concept!

Excellent, just plain excellent! This little place served up the best barbecue this side of the Texas border. Bravo! Your tummy will thank you for making a special trip to Spring Creek Bar-B Q. I had the loaded Nachos with barbecue and my husband had the ribs. It was just "FINE" as they say down south. By fine we mean AWESOME!

Worth the ride!!!! Not really near much of anything, my sister and brother in-law have a camp in Stetson, they took my wife and I there a couple of years ago. Even though I have not been there recently, the caliber of the food was such that, you would not have to worry about it changing!!! Their hours are Thursday-Sunday 10-8 and maybe Mon Tues or Wednesday (if the porch light is on!!!) Call ahead if you can, because they sell out of stuff on the regular, nothing day old in this place!!!!!

Pork ribs, beef ribs, smoked chicken salad sandwich, cole slaw, orange and cream sodas outta the can... So freakin' good! We had hiked and swam Gulf Hagus and had worked up a mean appetite. The meat fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. The food was so good we couldn't stop and ordered another side of baked beans and then bourbon bread pudding to go. Personable, friendly owners/staff. Kim insisted that we come back tomorrow (July 16) for the Swap Meat. We can't make it back this year, but it's already on the calendar for next. See you next year. So freakin' good!

We'd read about this place and drove up to check it out. The barbeque pork and beef were excellent as were the sides. It was worth the trip, absolutely. Unable to decide between the pork and beef BBQ, Norm took Kim's advice and got a combination bucket. Next time he'll probably just go with the pork. I don't eat meat, but the deviled eggs were good and the mac and cheese was homey and tasty. My other option would have been grilled cheese.

My family has been going to Spring Creek BBQ for years now! Mike and Kim are wonderful people and the food is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! I had never been a fan of pork ribs...until I had Mike's! His ribs are the only ribs I'll eat. He makes the best pastrami and brisket too! All of the sides are home made by Kim. Her macaroni and cheese is to die for!!! You better leave room for some desert....Kim's home made pies, cakes, brownies and cookies will hit the spot! We live in Southeastern, MA and we'll fly up in our plane just to have lunch or dinner....because we can't get good BBQ here in MA!!! I totally recommend that you try it!
