Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

My family has been coming to Lovell since 1970 and we have seen restaurants and stores come and go in this small, rural town. This one has been our "go to" restaurant for at least five years, as the food is good, the beer menu fascinating, and service consistent and warm. My only gripe is that prices seem to have jumped significantly in the last two years, while portion sizes have in some cases decreased. Examples: lobster rolls, steak tips, sundaes--all delicious but surprisingly expensive for what you get. Nonetheless, the best option in Lovell.

As a craft beer enthusiast, I was really looking forward to visiting Ebenezer's. My girlfriend and I traveled from PA, anticipating a transcendent experience. Sadly, it was not worth the trip. First and foremost, their website completely misrepresents how much beer is actually available. I would say at best, 1/10 of the bottles listed are actually available for sale. When we asked why this was, we were told the website was just for reference, to which I would respond, "who cares what beers you 'might have at some point'?" I only care about what beers are actually there! Also, when we asked about the cellar beers, our waitress said they were not available, and she did not know why. Long story short, everything I was hoping to drink - Cantillon, Hanssens, etc. - were nowhere to be had. With that said, we soldiered on. The draft list was great. Lots of unique sours, saisons and so on. The problem... actually getting anything. Our service was incredibly slow. It took 20 minutes plus to get our first beer - a $14 pour of a Mikkeller blueberry sour. It was about 7 ounces at best. A good beer for sure, but way overpriced for such a scant serving. The restaurant clearly needs more staff. Over the next 2-3 hours, we were constantly sitting with empty glasses as we waited to order our next beer. Our waitress was the only one working, and she could barely keep up with a 1/2 full restaurant. We also got very little in the way of suggestions or checking in to see how we were doing or if we liked our beer. I'm not normally worried about such things, but when you drop over $100 just on beer, you should get more attention and interaction from your server. The owner did stop and chat for a bit about what special pours they could offer outside of the cellar, but she disappeared later and we couldn't have followed up even if we wanted to. Add to all of this that the food is average at best. The frites are not frites and have zero crisp. The Pliny burger was just good. Our "reserved" table was so dark we could barely see. The decor is cliche and a bit dingy. We also had to listen to the staff vacuum the floors as we sat and drank - it was only 9 or 10 PM, and killed any vibe there was. This place seems to succeed more on reputation than actual experience. They may have one of the best sour festivals in the country, but a restaurant's true rating should be based on what an average person experiences on any random night. We left feeling mostly as if we had waited too long, spent too much, and were just another number. In my book, "Best Beer Bar in America" should require a lot more... great customer service, a notable setting, and truly rare beers. On this night, Ebenezer's had none of these things. It's a place to go for some really good beers, and that's about it.

After reading some of these reviews I was excited to make this my final meal of vacation. This was probably one of the worst places I have been to in a while. Ambiance: It was dark and crowded. The plastic chairs were difficult to move and bendy. The music was overly loud. People were using their phones to read the menu. The waitstaff was miserable! The hostess was pleasant and seated us. The next person deposited waters to the table without introduction of any sort. A drop and run situation. The waitress turned up eventually and we placed a drink order. I am not a beer fan (shhhh I know) so I ordered wine and the Husband ordered a Belgian IPA. The bar drinks took forever and the wine was undrinkable. I asked for a Allegash White instead of the wine. This was delivered just about the end of the meal. The kids finished there sodas before the meal. The waitress said she was getting refills but never brought them. The second beer for the hubby literally came with the check. Food: Kids got pizza and gave it an "ok". However if would have been better with drinks to wash it down with. I got Lobster Scampi and it was a major disappointment. I expected a delicious buttery/garlicky pasta and lobster dish. What I got was a bland bowl of past with a fair amount of overlooked lobster and a sauce that was more lemon than anything else. I asked for a salt shaker to help it out and the waitress disappeared for 20 minutes presumably looking for one. Husband reported fish and chips were really good. Overall the service was the killer. I could overlook mediocre food if it's served with a modicum of skill. But crappy wine+blah food+poor service=restaurant doom. I can only imagine the good reviews come from locals that would have to drive 40 minutes to get any other decent beer. Bleck! Blah! Nah!

Ok... i finally made it to the best beer pub in the world. Maybe I had bought into the hype and expected too much. Maybe they have begun to believe the hype themselves. Let me begin by saying that our waitress was great. I had my Chinese in laws with me and she was very patient as my wife had to translate the beer and food menu for them. She gave solid recommendations on food and beer (even though my brother in law opted for apple juice). We started of with beer of course. I had the lively Canibas IPA, my wife had the lively rye, and my sister in law had the candy ale. Honestly... the beer was ok. The rye was the highlight, but my IPA was pedestrian. Sam Adams Rebel IPA smokes it, and at $8 a draft, I certainly expected better. Food was great. I had the lobster scampi at $29, my wife and sister in law had the muscles at $16 each, and my brother in law continued to live dangerously by ordering a burger medium well for $13. My lobster scampi was great - although at $29 it should be. Lots of lobster and a fresh lemony sauce over angle hair with fresh basil and garnesh. I cleaned the plate and swabed up the sauce with my brother in laws french fries. Both my wife and sister in law enjoyed their muscles which were fresh and generous portions. For desert I ordered a homemade hot fudge sunday, and thought to give the Dr dankenstein ipa a chance. Dr dank lived up to its $8 price tag but the sundae is what prevented me from giving the fourth star. Is it too much to expect that an $8 sundae should have more than one scoop of ice cream which can be inhaled in three bites? Total dinner for four came to $156 with tip. Next time, get dinner, skip desert, and get bud light in a bottle :-)

I've been up this area of Maine quite a bit and I finally made it into Ebenezer's. Obviously, I have heard all sorts of things about how it's the best beer bar in North America and I am embarrassed to say that I didn't even have a beer while I was there. (But I probably will next time, and it will probably be a sour ale.) This review is strictly for food. I went on a Sunday night around 6 or 7pm. It wasn't too busy, but there were definitely some folks there have a good time. I sat at the bar and really enjoyed the ambiance. I ordered a Rueben (on a recommendation from someone else) and it was good, despite the fact that it didn't seem to have a ton of flavor. The corned beef was very tender and easy to eat and I really liked how they put a piece of cheese on both pieces of bread. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but also it really did hit the spot after a day of boating. The beer selection is HUGE. I didn't see the beer menu, but I imagine it's completely overwhelming. Someday, I will return and enjoy a few beers.

This pub has excellent food and a huge selection of Belgian beers. You can't go wrong here!
(4)Paul C.
Terrible slow service and rude servers. Definitely a good beer selection but you're paying $10 a glass, some of which are 10 oz. food was mediocre.

We had been to Ebenezer's a few years ago just for drinks. It was crowded late in the evening, but it was a party atmosphere, we had a few cocktails, and then went on our way, happy with the experience. This week was totally different. The first time we tried to have dinner there, we were told they were too busy and we could not get seated. Okay, no problem. How long is the wait? The very surly hostess said she had no idea. So we left, with plans to return. Everyone can relate to a bad night as a restaurant worker, and she was clearly very busy. The 2nd time we just wanted to have some drinks at the bar. Same surly service, by the same surly person. We waited forever for our drinks, no big deal. We're on vacation. After a couple of hours we wanted to eat and once again, were told they had no tables, so we got food to go. After an unreasonably long wait to pay for the food that was getting colder by the minute, our server finally returned and we got to go home. The brie won tons, when we got them home, had ZERO brie. If we thought anyone would pay attention to us we would have returned to the restaurant. They piled fries and coleslaw in the same container. Greaaat. The thai wings were very good, and the pizza was, too. This might be the best beer bar in America, but it has the worst food service we have seen a long, long time. We had heard about locals treating tourists poorly but had never experienced it anywhere in this region, until this visit.

Ebeneezers was the suggestion of a local & I am very pleased to have found it. It is in the middle of nowhere off of Rte 5 & next to a very pristine looking golf course. I went for dinner & in the dark, Ebeneezers is very charming w the lit street sign & the white lights at the porch/patio seating area of the barn exterior. This helps point the way as this barn is attached to a residence. I will note - should you come during the daytime some of this charm might fade due to the location but I dig the barn... Let's talk dining room -- it's simple however you should expect this from the exterior. If you're seeking fancy -- this is not going to suit you. BUT if you're seeking great pub food & a beer selection to go with it -- you've entered heaven. I suggest sitting at the bar. The bartender knows her shit & for the life of me I can't recall her name. She served up some beer selections sampler style since Belgium beer was new to my guest & upon making a choice ($8)- beer was served in a glass that evokes the style of a red wine glass (globe). Since I am GF -- they stock 4 different GF beers (2 of which made be GREENEs) & I believe 2 ciders. I went w vodka ($8.50) since they have a full liquor license to take advantage of. Food -- we ordered Fish&Frites & a simple Hamburger (GF buns available) - which was not simple in flavor! Frites -- hand cut & could be a meal on its own. I wish I had some left. Fish - a fried haddock - 3 big pieces w a plate full of fries...ahem, frites I mean. ($12) Hamburger - served w some pretty spectacular pickles, a nicely melted cheese & cooked the way I like -- well done. ($10-12) Plenty of interesting things to check out for wall decor along w the gigantic case of bottled selections in the case which is art on its own. Be sure to check out the beer selection on tap -- as there are many & the pulls appear to be blown glass! Very cool!!

Ebenezer's was great! I have not encountered a Belgian beer selection as amazing as the one at Enenezer's since I left Philadelphia. The pub has 15+ Belgian style and Belgian imports on draft at any given time. The food menu is also incredible. Favorites of ours were the pizza (which was stellar), burger (charred and placed between egg washed brioche), steak tips (marinated and super tender), and finally the poutine (salty and super umami - topped with cheese curds). I give them 5 stars regardless of the few things that I found that were not up to my expectations because the food, beer and service were so over the top amazing. The toilet in the men's room was out of order for a while. The problem was easily rectified by the 4 very clean porta-john's right outside. I did inform the bartender about the toilet being "out of order", but an hour later the problem had not been rectified. I was also a little surprised by the dated feel of the dining room and bar. With that being said...They get 5 stars from me. The food and beer selection was so incredibly top notch that they put all of the restaurants I have been to in Maine (including Portland) to shame. They are located in the middle of nowhere (Lovell, Maine), adjacent to a pristine golf course. The backyard also has a fire pit, which I'm told occasionally has a fire burning. It needs to be said again how awesome the food, beer and staff are at this place. Our dinner was made so much better by the courtesy and dedication of the staff that we encountered. Our waiter (young man headed off to his first year of college) and waitress (new girl transitioning from hostess to waitress) did a really great job! They even made our dog happy, by letting him lay outside by our table and giving us a big bowl of water.

After hearing about this place on various best beer bars lists, we sought it out after a little night skiing at shawnee peak. This place lived up to, possibly surpassed, expectations. The tap list was extensive and was definitely handpicked. The beers that we tried were new to us and did not disapoint. I got the Chimay burger with provelone and garlic cream cheese. Ordered it medium rare and it actually came out medium rare! a fabulous burger- juicy and so flavorful. The atmosphere was also perfect- the restaurant is in a barn attached to an old farm house. The taps were blown glass (heh, hippies). and i felt as if i was just heading to my friends house to have some excellant beer and food. perfect. too bad its in the middle of nowhere.

I wanted to like Ebenezers, I really, really did... but after stopping by last Sunday on the way back from Sunday River, I was very disappointing. - dont sit me in the abandoned upstairs room and make me wait 25 minutes before you take my drink order... - when I ask questions about a beer, know the answer... I consider ordering the Kasteel Cuvée Du Chateau and it is described as a blend of 10 year, 3 year, and 1 year old belgian beers. When I ask what type of beers were blended and you tell me your pretty sure they are ales, that pretty much tells me nothing and is just plain not good enough for the "world's best beer bar" - When our drinks finally arrive, know which one is which... please dont serve me the Black IPA, and my friend the Quad... this isnt what we ordered... come on, this is something even Applebee's can do. I am sorry, but I have been to many better beer bars and I cant figure out how this place got so hyped up. I wont be coming back.

So the draft list is okay. Something like 20 beers, a lot of sours, a lot of Belgians, a couple good IPAs. Really pretty decent. Nothing ignorable on draft, but I guess if you're the world's best beer bar you don't need anything forgettable on your lines. I'm told the bottle selection is hundreds of beers, but we never found out because our server couldn't find us a bottle list. So they could have a thousand different bottles, but you can't actually buy any of them. I was with a pretty big group, but we had a reservation; so even though I expected service to be a bit slower I just wasn't prepared for how bad it was. It took about 10 minutes just to get us all menus (not beer menus, three of those came later). It took a few more minutes for water. Ten minutes after that our server took a drink order, turns out two of the lines have kicked (and they didn't feel like changing them, I guess?), and so two people had to make quick decisions on other beers just so that they wouldn't have to wait another ten minutes to order. Like I said, the list was okay, but if you're the best beer bar in the world don't you want to keep all of your lines on all the time? There's a little disclaimer on the menu that says "on busy nights, please allow up to an hour and a half for food to come out." Okay, that's kind of silly, but we were a big group anyway. Food took an hour forty five to come out, and it was pretty awful. Ever eaten a luke-warm, unsalted french fry? The burgers were all well done even though everyone asked for medium-rare. The mussels were so boozy it seemed like they hadn't really cooked down enough. At this point we all just wanted to leave, so we asked for the check. Ten minutes later we asked for the check again. And then again. And then again. I know they don't have a computer system, but a calculator maybe? It shouldn't take twenty minutes to add up the bill. My opinion is that this place was probably really great once. Maybe even the best in the world. But they don't care anymore, and they're resting on their laurels. The food is whatever, the draft list isn't really any better than a good beer bar in any city, and the staff are disturbingly apathetic (or bad, but I prefer apathetic). If you're in Lovell, ME, go here. If you're not in Lovell, ME, it's not worth the trip.

A local pub located off a dirt road behind a golf course. Very interesting beer selection with my favorite being the lemon haze, a beer brewed in their very own brewery. Food is good but not the best. I had the 2 pounds of mussels which is filling and marinated with a bunch of garlic, sundried tomatoes and with their very own lemon haze. Watched the best fireworks on the golf course for the 4th of July hosted by the owner. Will keep returning to try their updated beer lists!

We had high expectations for Ebenezer's but unfortunately they were not met. This is mostly due to the service. When we walked in it was packed with snowmobilers coming off the trail for a bit. With it being lunch time we figured there would be a wait anyways. We stood by the bar waiting for a menu or some sort of attention from an employee but all we got was 'You can't order because you can't stand here.' After a minute of contemplating our next move the same waitress reminded us again we had to leave the area. We were never offered a table or told the wait time. A nice group of people decided to finish up a little quicker and we sat down. The one waitress working told us it was her 3rd day there...we should have left right then and there. Total time spent at Ebenezer's was three hours and we only received one beer each (5 people) 4 salads and a fish sandwich. Do the math, it's not worth it. If I was able to try more than one beer I might add another star to this review. But frankly I did not want to spend my entire day waiting for another one. If you're going to advertise it being 'The World's Best Beer Bar' I would expect to be able to try a few. Food was decent, portions were extremely small for the price (~17$ for a salad with 2 steak tips) for that cost it should have at least been a dinner sized portion. The atmosphere and decor was fitting for the area but all in all a very small restaurant and probably doesn't welcome large parties. They had a covered outdoor area which I'm sure some of the snowmobilers would have enjoyed but the waitress mentioned they would not have service out there. I will not be visiting Ebenezer's again.
(2)Kristen A.
Was snowmobiling with 5 others and stopped in for lunch. Everyone got a sandwich, I had the fish sandwich. All was very good. Place is small and the sun can beam into your eyes depending on the time of day and where you are sitting. (need shades on windows). Prices are reasonable and they do have a large beer selection, though we didn't have any this trip. Overall very happy with the food, service and prices. Will go again.

Ebenezer's Pub has a well deserved reputation as one of the best beer bars in the entire world. The owners, Chris and Jen, have a passionate commitment to their craft -- and it shows! Their wonderful food and amazing selection of beers makes Ebenezer's a restaurant we have enjoyed visiting many times during our summers in Maine. This week we took it up a notch with a five course beer dinner. The exquisite food the owners paired with specially selected beers demonstrated just how incredible Ebenezer's can be its best. If you are anywhere near Lovell, Maine you must try this world famous pub for yourself.

There's no question about it -- this is the single best beer bar in North America. Who woulda thunk it? Out here in the middle of nowhere, yet Ebenezer's has EVERYTHING. The draft beer list is to die for, and the cellar full of bottles has samples I wouldn't expect to find anywhere outside of Antwerp. The food is wonderful, the people are super friendly, and the beer is kept in absolutely top-notch condition at all times. If this isn't a beer lover's nirvana, I don't know what is.

World's best beer bar pretty much sums up this place. Chris & Jen Lively (the owners) have a tap and bottle selection that is literally second to none. The tap list is always full of unusual and hard to find selections. I've had some amazing beers from Italy, Denmark, and other places that one would not usually associate with outstanding craft beer at Ebenezer's. If you want to blow a ridiculous amount of money, the bottle selection will not disappoint. The food menu was different every time we have come up here (we usually visit every 6 months). On our most recent visit (Friday, October 19), I ordered the mussels and my wife ordered the Ruben. Food was excellent as usual, but a piece of garlic bread would have really completed the mussels! I can't say enough good things about this place. You just have to experience it yourself. I advise going during the "off" seasons. I love coming here in October as the crowd is generally a bit smaller and the bar is a lot more quiet and cozy.

We are from Texas and were on the tail end of our vacation when we came across Ebenezer's.... Not knowing what to expect we stopped in for a beer. Being beer and food lovers we really were in Heaven! The owner Chris, who is also a chef and beer enthusiast, welcomed us right away and provided us with such genuine hospitality we decided we will stop back in again before we leave! The food and beer were both top notch! The Brie wontons left us wanting more! To top this great experience off we got to tour the beer cellar which was a true once in a life time experience considering there are only 3 like it in the world!

I would love to give this place a five. It was super awesome, however, I felt a little jipped. I went here with the family after a day at the Fryeburg Fair. The food was divine and the beer prices were comparable to Boston or any beer nirvana. They are on a dirt road in the middle of a golf course but it's pretty to look at. We sat up in the attic which was cute and they had a enclosed patio with heat lamps. However, the main problem was, we received a draft list of 20 or so beers with a few out of stock and no mention of the magic cellar. Is this some secret you have to know and ask for? Whatever... As a non beer drinker, I saw some women with wine but there was no full liquor list or any mention of other types of adult beverages besides the draft list. I had nachos (seriously I get them everywhere). My family got: the sausage fest, chili bowl, buffalo chicken tenders, and turkey club. We split a coconut shrimp app which was the best thing ever. I could have eaten 50 of them with that great sauce. Our waitress was sweet and brought plenty of water and extra stuff. For beers, my parents went for dark things (Aphrodisiac, Delirium, etc) and I had a St. Louis Framboise which was delicious. It was $7-14 for draft beer which is pretty expensive after a quick check to my local bar, Lord Hobo in Somerville, MA. They are charging $4-10 for different quirky craft and imported beers. With a more extensive list. I'm just confused how this place was "Beer Heaven" but not really explaining it or living up to it. Our waitress admitted she didn't like beer very much but was fine recommending them for my parents. The vibe was very crowded. We got there at 5 and there were tons of reservations of people coming from the fair. They were also not doing samples because of the crowd they were expecting. Maybe that's why they weren't doing bottles too. Either way, it was lame but I would probably go back again if we were in the area to try to get into that mythical cellar.

Certain things we'd heard about Ebenezer's were true: the beer list is really unusual, the setting is snug, homey, and scenic, and the place is popular. But we had a totally miserable experience there. It was literally the worst service I've ever seen, and we're huge restaurant and bar-goers. We ALWAYS side with the wait staff and tip over twenty percent if the server is remotely present. Not this time. Short story for a long night: it took us well over an hour and a half from when we were seated to the time our plates arrived. When we came in, the place was full, and were seated upstairs in a little room overlooking the golf course. At the time, we sighed that service would probably be slower up there because it was a pain to get up the little steps, and we were, at the time, the only ones up there. My fiance noted the time we got there, out of curiosity. Ten or fifteen minutes after we were seated, the same person who'd seated us came up the stairs, put two glasses of water on our table, and went away again immediately. We thought, oh, she must be the hostess, and doesn't take orders. Ten minutes after that, she seated another couple at the next table and left again without looking at us. Another fifteen minutes went by, and she came up with water for the next table, and asked us if she could get us something to drink. We're so pro-waitstaff that we figured she must be really, really busy if she couldn't even take a drink order until we were there for 35 minutes. We'd been there for 45 minutes before she took our food order. TWENTY minutes after I ordered a lobster roll, she came back and informed me that the kitchen was out of lobster. In the meantime, people at adjacent tables, sharing our frustration, went downstairs to go to the restroom, and one stopped for a while at the bar, and reported that people at the bar were getting their food right away. It wasn't a kitchen problem. Moreover, it wasn't even busy downstairs anymore. Meanwhile, our waitress was obviously braving the stairs occasionally -- just avoiding as many people as possible when she did. She'd bring someone a beer and bolt without making eye contact, let alone asking anyone else in the room if they needed anything, even at the same table. You pretty much had to get up and physically intercept her if you wanted a second beer that hour. When she told us about the lobster, she was halfway to the door before we managed to inform her that we were out of the drinks that were obviously empty. Literally two minutes before we'd decided we'd leave drink money on the table and just find somewhere else in the Maine woods to eat, our lukewarm plates arrived, at the same time that they arrived to the table that was seated 20 minutes after us. The pregnant woman who'd just gotten her dinner looked like she was going to cry -- apparently her long-awaited food was ice-cold and inedibly overdone. It was an hour and forty minutes from the time we arrived. I'm giving two stars out of pure optimism that it isn't always this way.

a bunch of us for lunch recently.....good beers.....good food....whats not to like...we ate on the porch food was very good, beer selection great and got passed around....oh taste this one....really a neat place...service was good ambiance ok...it's a beer bar right??? great experience!!!

If you like hard to find beer then this is the place for you. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Bar area is small. Food was average. Good place to have a pint and some appetizers!

Finally made it out there- booked a camp site nearby, so everything finally fell into place for me to cross this place off my list(and to come back again and again!) The beer selection was outstanding. I prefer to see all the breweries and pour sizes listed, but the descriptions and quality made up for the fact that not all beers listed the maker and no pour sizes were provided. To other bar owners- if you are gonna be vague about what and how much of it you're serving, you better have a tap list comparable to these guys! We sat at a table overlooking the golf course, and than moved to the bar, to get a real feel of the place after were done with our meal. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered a turkey reuben- both were outstanding and not ordinary. The waitress did not automatically offer home-made mayo for the frites, but was happy to bring it over once we asked(good thing we remembered to ask- it was goood). Once we ventured over to the bar, which was tended by the owner and his wife, we got more good recommendations from them and got the world famous tour of the cellar. Overall a great experience.

Great food and fantastic beer selection. Coconut shrimp is great. Staff is friendly and right on top of everything.

We went for the beer. It wasn't busy at 5 pm on a Saturday (there were some empty tables and not many people in the bar) but the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, saying they wouldn't/couldn't seat our party of 6. We offered options - a drink in the bar, sitting outside until they were ready for us - but they said (rudely) that there was no way they could handle us. Watching a 6-person party leaving, we asked about their table... waitstaff said it "takes a lot of time to clean a table", and there was no room for us to wait. Seriously? We made a special trip to visit... and certainly will never make the effort again. Very disappointing...

This is a great spot if you want good beer especially Belgium beer. Great selection in bottles and on tap. The food is just ok. The Reuben is great and the sausage dinner is great. In addition, I really like the Brie won tons. Vegetables that come with dinner are awful. If you go during the Belgium festival there may be some good meals cooked by specialty cooks. One of the problems is consistency. Sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is not. Only thing consistently good is the beer. Oh and the last time I went, they had a bartender who was pouring very short beers. The owner corrected him several times but he still poured 2/3rd full glasses.
(3)Halley S.
Second time at this restaurant. While I didn't feel the food was special the first time, it was very ok last night. And we went for the Belgian Beer Festival and they were out of tons of the great beers. Won't go back likely.

I was happy to be able to come to Ebenezer's since I had read such great things and viewed a youtube video of a beer cellar tour. I went with two other gents and one of their wives when we travelled north to attend Kate the Great Day in Portsmouth NH. It was slightly tricky to find but inviting all the same when we arrived. The place is cozy and set up with tables in the patio and inside and the bar are off to the side. They have lots of breweriana which adds to the atmosphere and lets you know the focus is great beer. I was fortunate to be able to try a 26 year gueuze thanks to Chris the owner and our friend Dan's generosity. The food is very tasty as well - I had a Belgian burger made with Trappist cheese and the preparation was spot on. I am glad we got to stay for several hours since Chris, the owner was bringing out beers to share with the whole restaurant and some other highly sought after beers such as Three Floyd's Behemoth made an appearance later. The service is great, the food pretty darn good and the beer list is incredible - must visit if you want to try something beer-wise you may never see anywhere else - one of the best beer establishments I may have been to ever.

Went for an early dinner recently with my wife. We had been there previously and were happy with service, food and beer. The place was busy but we did not have to wait to be seated. There appeared to be plenty of waitstaff. We looked over the beer menu and asked server for help but she said she was not familiar with the beer menu. She was clueless . She mentioned the special offer to buy a souvenir glass and get $2 off second beer so we took her up on the offer. Beer came right away but she only brought one souvenir glass. We mentioned the error and she said she would bring the next beer in the souvenir glass. We placed our food order and then realized she never gave us a daily special menu or mentioned it. Food came within 3 minutes ! I hardly had 2 sips of my drink. Much too quick. My wife's fish was completely under cooked and the batter was Was still liquid underneath. It was not edible but the server never returned to ask how the meal was. Nor did she ever ask if we wanted a second beer (I did). Finally after we were finished eating, she returned and asked if we would like our check. I told her my wife's meal was totally under cooked and her response was "oh, sorry" . We asked for another beer and she finally brought them . When we were ready to leave, again no where to be found. Another server noticed we were finished and asked if she could get us anything. We asked her for the check. When we finally got the check it charged for the full price of my wife's second beer, was supposed to be $2 off because of the souvenir glass. The server explained it wasn't deducted because her first beer was not in the souvenir glass. We reminded her it was her mistake because she forgot to bring it so she adjusted the bill. Overall a very unpleasant evening. Management should provide better service when customers are spending $100 for a dinner for 2. Won't be back.

We had dinner and beverages last night at Ebenezer's. We came over from North Conway, using our GPS to find it because I was a bit intimidated by somebody saying how hard it was to find. Using the street address, our GPS took us right to the door, no problem! We were able to walk right in to the bar area and sit at a high top table and were quickly greeted by our server. Because there are just so many unusual beers on tap, she gave us a pen and paper to make a list of which ones we wanted to try. They offer each beer on tap as a full beer, or a 5 ounce pour for 1/2 price. I thought the beers were a little pricey, but that seems to be the norm for these types of beers. I'm a big fan of the sour beers, and there were more on the menu than I was able to sample in one visit. We also had dinner, I had a turkey reuben with a side of slaw. The slaw was overdressed, but the reuben was very good, the turkey was like hand carved turkey, not deli slices. Fries (called frites here) were ok but I've had better frites. My dining companion had the coconut shrimp appetizer which he said was delicious (served with some hot chili duck sauce for dipping), and the turkey cobb salad. Lots of hand carved turkey, big pile of greens (mostly romaine, I believe), with some bleu cheese and bacon. I wouldn't go back here just for the food, but would definitely eat here again along with enjoying some more of the beers.

An amazing number of Belgian beers on tap, good food really enjoyable atmosphere. You definitely want to be down stairs near the bar great pub feel.
(4)Ruth S.
Really cool pub. If you like a wide selection of distinct beers- this place is for you. 35 Belgian beers on tap! Each served in it's own special glass. Coconut thai shrimp to die for and delicious frites. The owner Chris is also the cook. The waitstaff is friendly as well. Also the pub is snowmobile friendly and right off the trails. We have gone back several times and will continue to do so.

This is my ultimate happy place. I'm not even kidding when I say this is one of my favorite places on earth. Granted, on a busy night you may have to wait a couple of hours to get a table and the food isn't spectacular. If either of those things will ruin your night, go somewhere else, or eat at the steak house down the road and go to Ebenezer's for drinks. Even with these drawbacks, I still am madly in love with this place. The beer selection is hands down the best I've ever seen, and whenever I have a reason to be within an hour of Lovell, I make sure Ebenezer's is part of the itinerary.
(5)Panman P.
Super friendly staff. That alone makes it an enjoyable place. Beer selection bigger than you've ever seen, but also the knowelege to go with it. Very unique combo. Food is really good too. Beers can get pricey if you order blindly, but a fun place to spend and evening with good food and good drinks. Homemade crab rangoon and coconut shrimp are awesome.

It's good to be friends with people who know the out of the way spots that are worth driving to. I went here with Andy Crouch to celebrate his brother Myk's bachelor party. We were first smartly picked up in a suburban by one of the Ebenezer's staff because we knew we would all be too drunk to drive. On the way there we found out that are young female driver was actually from Romania, I told her I was a fan of her countries lettuce We arrived at the pub and were taken to our reserved table where we were greeted by Chris the owner who made us feel right at home. Looking around for a pub that was known for it's beer it sure had a lot of families and kids there. Chris brought us our first beer which had a hit of pumpkin flavor and we were served some of the house frites with mayo. second course was a small bowl of cheese and IPA soup that was amazing and I wish I had more of it, paired with a beer that I have no idea what it was. Third we had a nice spring salad with strawberries and goat cheese paired with a delicious beer which I wish I had written the name down of. Chris then brought out some caremel flavored beer that he had kept in his basement since 1953. More on the basement later. Up next was a boneless chicken breast cooked in a mushroom and bacon reduction, which was amazing. At this point I was pretty wasted, so I have no idea what I was drinking with it. We were given a glass of Kate the Great porter as a digestive before desert which was a slice of lemon and white chocolate cake paired with a limoncello IPA, just typing that made me wish I was eating my words. After desert we were taken to Chris's basement. The basement was filled with such an obscure collection of beers that even Andy, the beer scribe, was taken a back. Chris is the Quentin Tarantino of beers, he will tell you these wild stories about things you have no idea about and then find a way to relate it to you. He compared the making of certain labels of beer as a collector's items to the way that in the 90's all comic books had stupid hologram covers. After dinner we were given a fantastic doggie bag, that was enjoyed by a few of us, but marveled at by all. Some dinners are just dinners, this was an experience.

Visited this place recently and it was great. Very pleasant staff, good food and a wide variety of beers (particularly Belgium) for beer fans (not me usually, but once in a while with a good burger or pizza). Located right on a golf course in Lovell. Nice drive from Bethel. Highly recommend.
(4)Emma B.
A hidden gem! Great burgers and an amazing beer selection. I had the Caesar salad with sirloin tips, and it was by far some of the tastiest beef I've ever had. The service was excellent, too - very prompt and friendly. The blueberry pie for dessert was the perfect ending. This place is a little off the beaten path but definitely worth the drive. If I ever find myself in this area again, I will come back for sure.

Great beer selection and a pretty well made ice cream sundae.

I have to second this 5 star review. I have a cabin in Maine, and I was commenting to a guy in a local brew pub about what a great beer scene there was in portland and the surrounding areas and he had asked if I had been to Ebenezer's.. I was shocked that there was a place with such a reputation so close, and I had never been, so I made a plan to check it out. If you like beer, you will LOVE this place. Food is good, too, and the do an AMAZING tasting dinner in August. It's worth a drive up from just about anywhere to see the beautiful lakes and mountains in the area, and having a gem like this seals the deal!

Drove through a blizzard from Errol, NH for date night at Ebenezer's. Well worth the trip for the fantastic beer selection. Both my wife and I put ourselves in the waitress and bartender's hands afterthe first round - describing what we felt like and getting great beers in exchange. We'll make this a regular stop on our visits to the North Country or the Lakes Region.

Terrible slow service and rude servers. Definitely a good beer selection but you're paying $10 a glass, some of which are 10 oz. food was mediocre.

If you like hard to find beer then this is the place for you. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Bar area is small. Food was average. Good place to have a pint and some appetizers!

(3)Seva K.

(4)Gaye L.

(2)Chuck D.
