Sam's is my favorite part of going home. Those sandwiches taste like home to me. Get any sandwich you want, smash some chips in there and enjoy. You are officially cultured to Lewiston/Auburn. There are locations all over the area so no matter where you are there is probably one near you. The people working are always so friendly. Oh, and don't forget to snag a whoopie pie.

Absolutely love this place. I'm there at least once everytime I go up to visit the family. The workers are always friendly and the food is amazing. Definitely one of the perks of being in Lewiston/Auburn area

There is nothing...NOTHING...that hits the spot like a Sam's ham italian with everything on it oil and vinegar. I am literally salivating just thinking about one right now. Maybe I'm being nostalgic since I grew up eating these my entire childhood, but I think it's just the best ever. I take back everything I ever said about reubens and bahn mis being my favorite sandwiches - those are still in the top three but when I recently took a bite of the Sam's ham italian I was reminded that THIS IS IT. The meatballs are also the best I've ever had. They're made with some combination of meat, probably parm and breadcrumbs, spices, love and magic. Even the best cooks in my family (and there are a lot of good ones!) agree that in all their years of making or eating meatballs these are by far the best! When you get a bite with the red sauce your head will explode from the pleasure. I need some now. Other things of note: housemade salad dressing is very good and they sell it by the bottles. I haven't had the pizza in 20+ years so no comment but I liked it when I was a child. Staff are usually very friendly making the ordering experience pleasant. Prices are very good. I bought lunch for myself, my sister, bro-in-law and two kids for around $30. Love this place and feel so lucky to have it right in my hometown. Other locations in Lewiston and Auburn have been equally as good, but this is the one we've gone to the most.

They have gluten free pizzas which are, okay, I've had the other food there before I had to go gluten free and it was also okay. The staff is very nice.

I grew up eating at Sam's and I still think they have some of the best pizza and Dagwood's in the area. They have always had excellent customer service especially at this main street location. Whether you're looking for a small or large pizza, and Italian, Dagwood's or everyone's favorite bucket of spaghetti and meatballs this is an ideal location especially for families.

Sam's pizza in general is not my favorite. It's not that it's bad pizza, because it's not, it's just not the style I like. The dough is often too soft for me and I find it average now that there are many more specialty pizza places. That being said, I will go for one thing, I love their Chicago style pizza. Not many places have kalamata amd this pizza has a fair amount of them. The combination of ingredients is a nice mix of textures and is pleasantly salty without being too much. We always order it well done to counter the generally soft, doughy crust.

I grew up close to this Sam's location and whenever I'm home for a visit, I stop in as many times as possible for an italian! Nothing tastes like home like a Sam's ham italian. And I also have to grab a peanut butter whoopie pie for dessert.

Simple, fresh and classic Italian food. The meatball sandwiches here are amazing. Everytime I go to the Lewiston/Auburn area I try to head to Sams.

I absolutely love Sam's. All of the locations in Lewiston/ Auburn are wonderful. Eating there as often as I have while growing up you will occasionally get a stale loaf of bread but the general rule is the bread is fresh and moist. The italians are something that I miss when I am not in Maine. The pizza and pasta are good as well, but you can not beat a ham italian with everything on it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
