No longer: The quality has slipped as it went through ownership changes. A few mornings ago, I ate there with relatives and we were all dissatisfied. The waitress wore no name badge, never gave us her name, got an order wrong, and was just unpleasant. The potatoes were grossly over salted. The whipped cream on the french toast was a melted mess. The regular toast is buttered in the back, and they add a lot. etc etc. Grammies is much better.

I come through Houlton once a year. Thanks to a tip from someone, I found the Elm Tree Diner, and can avoid the fast food that I thought was the only place to stop in Houlton! I love everything I've tried. I usually get mine to go as I'm driving to down east Maine. I love the clams and the homemade chips too!

Awesome! We had a great open faced roast beef and burger plus amazing fries with gravy and cheese. Coconut pie is to die for!!! We went back two days later.

Fourth of July, long end of the day, the Elm Tree staff sat us down and fed us with smiles! By the way, breakfast there is not to miss!

Today was a grey and cool afternoon so something warm was the order of lunch. Chicken pot pie was featured on the menu so I figured i would give it a try. HUGE serving (not your average soup bowl full, but rather a bowl and a half)... full of potatoes (well, it is Maine) carrots and of course chicken. Very good flavor and I DIDN'T feel the need to a gallon of water to wash down the salt. For dessert I had a slice of the coconut cream pie. When I say its packed with coconut, that is not an exaggeration. There is more coconut than pie filling with the slice coming in under $3 a slice. Very nice dessert case that is very reasonably priced. I live on the other side of the United States from this place... kinda figures that when you find someplace that is really good its really far from you!

Not bad but not great either. Went for breakfast didn't agree with my stomach. Tasted pretty good though.
