Went and visited here twice as we found the place cozy and the service friendly. In the off-season they're closed from Nov-Dec but open the rest of the winter on weekends. Not a big beer selection but they have some great food. Recommendations: Haddock chowder, try to go on a prime rib night, and see if they have chocolate cream pie (homemade including whipped cream). Very inviting and family feel to restaurant. Would definitely go again.

My son (10) and I had dinner here on a Friday night prior to heading out for a week on the Allagash. Not knowing Greenville (first visit), I had no particular expectations. My son decided he wanted a lobster roll, but it wasn't on the menu (I explained we were nowhere near the coast, but he wanted one anyway). So our waitress suggested he walk a couple of doors down and get one and bring it back and eat it in the restaurant. An unusually nice gesture. A couple at the next table later told us the waitress (Karen) was in fact the owner. He got his lobster roll and I had a fish plate and a draft beer. The food was outstanding! (And the beer was cold.) The "service" was truly perfect - we were made to feel right at home, it's a genuinely warm and friendly atmosphere. At the end of our Allagash trip, some of our group asked about restaurants, and we suggested the Rod-n-Reel. We went back again, and our friends also showed up. Had another great meal and very nice experience. This is very much a friendly, family-oriented local kind of place. The windows overlook the lake and the busy little street with shops etc. There is also outdoor seating. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Food was the best. Staff was friendly. They had something on the menu for everyone and it was all good. This was a great surprise we stumbled upon.

The Rod-n-Reel was highly recommended by the hotel we stayed in. It was a friendly enough place but the overall quality of the food and experience was mediocre at best. The service was friendly. But we were sat underneath an air conditioner blowing directly on us throughout the entire meal. The food was bland and left me feeling like they probably don't need to care that much when there aren't that many options. We tried to get into the Captain Sawyer House for dinner but they were booked up. Next time we'll plan ahead.

Pleasant atmosphere and the food was excellent. When we arrived there was a 10 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar, looking at the menu and thinking we might just eat there. Our waitress popped over and said our table was ready by the window and she'd be right over. We had a great table, our waitress could not be matched! Just the right amount of attention, prompt, friendly, and made the whole experience fun. Don't miss this gem!

Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic! My wife and I had our first culinary experience here when we where engaged and have made an effort to come back every summer. The food is thoughtful, beautifully prepared and out of this world delicious! I also want to mention that the wait staff set the bar for all of the other restaurants in Greenville, Maine. The waitresses really care about your dining experience and I cannot say the same for the local amphibian bar down the street. As long as the Rod & Reel is open I will be taking my family there.
