Easy going, friendly service. Well executed menu with customer friendly pricing. Great find! We enjoyed delicious Maine mussels with white wine garlic sauce and the chefs seasonal pickle board (carrots, peppers, seaweed, curried quail egg with Pullman toast and honey sea salt butter) . Our mains were the 1/2 portion of fettuccine with lobster, smoked bacon and peas with a delicate Parmesan cream sauce and a New York strip steak with lobster butter and old bay seasoning. Very memorable with warm atmosphere & folks. Don't miss the chance if you're within 60 miles or so...

Can't fathom any complaints about the food here. I've been three times, and every single thing I have ordered has been perfect, phenomenal, delicious, including the mojito. I wish this place were in my home town, or that I could steal the chef. Innovative, memorable food, quaint ambiance, fairly expensive but worth every penny. Tip: order a bunch of appetizers.

Nice place. It was a rainy night so we didn't get to check out the view but we were told it was very nice. The food was excellent. (I can't say enough good things and the filet mignon.). Service was adequate although they did forget us for a few minutes after bringing us the dessert menu. (That's why I only gave it 4 stars. ). I would definitely recommend.

From the exterior, charming. Once inside, we waited 9 minutes to be greeted as the hostess was nowhere to be found. Our waitress, however, was excellent. Terrific service. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. Over-rated and over-priced. We will not return.

We met friends for a holiday celebration at the Oxford House Inn. The lovely old house was beautiful. The service was warm, attentive and knowledgable. But the food was exceptional. Delicious, inventive and perfectly prepared. They have a good, well priced wine list and a good beer menu too. Dessert was delicious too. We will return.

Sophisticated yet relaxed dining in the charming town of Fryeburg. We ate two meals here during our stay in western Maine and were sorry we didn't eat all three of our get-away dinners here. The cooking is smart and delicious and the waitstaff is exceptionally personable and attentive. What an oasis from the ugliness of North Conway strip malls.

Absolutely loved this place! We dined here last evening after reading all the reviews and agree this is as fine a restaurant as you could find anywhere. Lovely yet unpretentious. Fun little cave of a pub in the basement where we had a drink-followed by excellent food upstairs in the white table dining room. Nice ambiance, contemporary music. The twin filets w/ blistered beans was perfectly divine to share with my husband...after a fresh salad & a velvety broccoli, garlic & Brie soup. Our friend had an Asian pulled pork with scallion pancakes. Incredible! The menu is a culinary delight. Only 15 minutes from North Conway - make a res and ask for a view. What a little gem of a surprise after all the pizza/burger joints in the area!

We have been here twice over the last couple years and have had great experiences. Tonight we ate in the cozy bar downstairs and it was spectacular. Friendly, warm, professional service and exceptional seasonal food. We started with "snacks" of bacon and deviled egg, a great twist on a classic, and then moved on to entrees. The filet was perfectly cooked, the seared tuna was delicious and served with fresh and creative sides. Dessert was all homemade on the premises including the toffee and ice cream. Overall a great evening that left us wanting to come back more often.

Amazing meal. Best duck I've ever had. Loved the spring roll and the mussels were plump and garlicky. Maine maple manhattan was perfect. Switched to some great local brew on tap afterwards. Owners Jonathan and Natalie put together a beautiful dinner at the Oxford house. Highly recommended!

There appears to be a limited number of restaurants in the area. Yelp & OpenTable came through for us. We were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival. A charming restaurant in downtown Fryeburg. We had a nice window seat overlooking the yard and my tuna was delicious. An intimate bar area awaits you downstairs if you would like a more casual experience.

I am writing a delayed review and wanted to fess up right off the bat. My wife and I ate here with good friends in the summer of 2010. It was an absolutely excellent meal. Our friends had eaten there before and appreciate good food, but it was truly a great meal. Since my review is year late, I hope that the chemistry is still there.

While in North Conway, we were speaking to some local store owners about a good spot for dinner. The store owner, knowing we were on our way back to Portland, urged us to eat in Fryeburg while passing through. This is a place I would have never considered stopping, even though have noticed it when driving by on 302. It was recommended that we sit in the downstairs pub for dinner. I used my Open Table app to make the reservation and they were ready for us when I got there. The hostess had a table right in front of the fireplace in one of the upstairs room, it could have been a very romantic dinner, but we opted to wait for a table in the pub, where there was a more casual setting. The hostess was very friendly and gave us a brief tour of the Inn before bringing us to the pub in the basement. The building is very classic and has been well maintained. The basement was really cool..with the exposed rock foundation showing, a full bar and about 8 tables. The atmosphere was more casual than upstairs, but the menus are the same. I ordered the Maple Bourbon Brined Pork, it was very tasty and came with a very good home made mac and cheese. I just love coming to restaurants like this, you get a well crafted and rounded dinner, making you want to come back and try everything on the menu! Our meals were fabulous, the service was wonderful, and this will be a spot we stop at on the way back from the White Mountains. I highty recommend.

We went here to cerebrate my sisters birthday and we were not disappointed. We sat on the deck. It was beautiful. The service was excellent. They have a nice selection of fancy nonalcoholic drinks but the waitress was also knowledgable about the beer and wine list. The food was very good and the desserts were amazing. They even brought my sisters strawberry pie out with a candle in it. As we were eating we learned that they have adirondack chairs outside where you can enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset over the mountains. We also watched as someone from the kitchen would occasionally go out to one of the gardens to pick fresh flowers as garnishes for the plates. My only complaint was that the chicken and the lobster were slightly over cooked but only slightly. Very good overall.

If your in North Conway or the surrounding area and enjoy food made by talented chefs and a waitstaff that takes their job seriously then go here. Loved our meals at Jonathan's downstairs at Oxford House Inn. Creative signature cocktails were excellent. Tuna salsa appetizer was fresh with just the right 'zing' to it. For mains, we had shrimp salad with tropical fruits (excellent, and great value at $16), huge burger with cheddar and bacon ($11, juicy), and chicken breast with fried risotto+fontina cheese sticks over a bed of sauteed kale in balsamic vinegar with pine nuts and raisins($24). Whoa! Very creative and beautifully presented dishes cooked to perfection, with good portion sizes. Great use of locally-sourced summer foods (even in cocktails). Waitstaff was funny, friendly and attentive. Looking forward to another meal there!!!

Last Saturday night my husband, two friends and I enjoyed an OUTSTANDING dinner at the Oxford House Inn. We ordered Kale salads, the sweet potato gnocchi, and onion rings for appetizers, all of which were delicious. Following that course, we each ordered the twin filet dinner, which we all agreed was an amazing dinner choice! The filets were each cooked the way we wanted (a different way for each of us)! The savory bread pudding was so wonderul, I asked our server if she would ask the chef for the recipe. We were so stuffed we thought we would skip dessert, but we caved in when we saw the dessert choices. Can you imagine a s'mores dessert that is decadently tasty and elegantly presented?! Hmmmmmm. We are looking forward to more scrumptious creations at the Oxford House Inn. I wish I were a famous food critic so I could review the menu in a famous newspaper or culinary magazine; alas, I am just a local who appreciates good food!!

We came to the Oxford House Inn for a relaxing weekend away over the weekend of 08/03-08/05. What I walked away with was an unforgettable experience from the simple, rustic, "at home" feeling all weekend, to the gourmet food made by Chef Jonathan and modern amenities like Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs in the rooms. It was certainly the"perfect mix" of being able to get away from it all without getting away from modern "needs" in the daily life. What was excellent about the overall experience was how reasonable the prices were. We took advatage of the 2-day weekend package in The Porch Room which included 2 breakfasts, and a three course dinner for both of us. And it was around $400 for everything! The Inn itself was very welcoming with all of the staff nd owners Natalie and Jonathan Spak being always around to help out with anything. The Inn was spotless, the Porch Room was amazing and even came complete with Lindt Chocolates on the dresser. The bed was super comfortable memory foam. The view from the Porch Room gave you a nice bird's eye view of the surrounding area, and the views from the breakfast captured scenes that from the street, look very unassuming. The food was amazing and the Onion Rings are a MUST Try item. The menu is seasonal and we enjoyed quality summer fare like a Panzanella Salad (cukes, tomatoes, red onion, goat cheese, homemade crutons in a balsamic vinegarette), swrodfish, salmon, and a nice blueberry martini. We ended up eating our 3-course meal Friday night and then returned to Jonathan's Saturday night for the comfortable bar section and ate another amazing dinner like Hoison Duck with Scallion pancakes. And the breakfasts were very filling and fresh made as well. Coffee water, juices all available all the time as well. I would highly recommend a weekend stay here. You wll not be disappointed in the least!

Even though I grew up in Fryeburg, tonight was actually the first time I had ever dined at the Oxford House. The food and cocktails were superb! There were 4 in my party and 3 of us had a specialty cocktail: pear and ginger margarita, black orchid martini, and the coconut mango Pina Colada. It was nice to be able to try a cocktail that wasn't just your run of the mill gin and tonic. The specialty cocktails were reasonably priced and were a good size. I felt like I was in a major metropolitan area with the cocktail choices. I am not sure if these cocktails align with the Fryeburg way of life, but I sure appreciated them. If cocktails are not your thing, the restaurant also has a number of good, local beers and a nice wine list. For those not interested in alcohol at all, but still want something special, the restaurant also has freshly squeezed lemonade. For the first course of our meals, two of us ordered salads: the Bibb salad and the Sherman Farm mixed greens salad. These salads were very good, but not particularly original. The candied nuts on the Sherman Farm salad were a nice touch and so were the roasted grapes on the Bibb salad. My husband got the Spring Risotto, which I would not normally think of as an appetizer; however, the risotto was creamy and rich, but an appropriate portion for an appetizer. We also ordered the crispy chickpeas for the table, the chickpeas were a little salty, but the texture and flavor were great. What I like about this restaurant is that there are different types of main courses depending on the amount of food you want to eat, your price point, and how you want to dine. Of course The Oxford House offers beautifully prepared classics, such as rack of lamb, filet minon, and sea scallops. These entrees are on the pricier side, but have very creatively and interestingly prepared sides to complement. I am sure these options were very good, however, on this particular night my family chose from the Bistro and Hand Held menus. These main courses were a little more reasonably priced. Each of us ordered something different. We enjoyed each dish and the meals were pretty large. The Mahi Mahi Tacos were very good, but they could have used a little more flavor. I chose to get the fish grilled, so perhaps they would have had a little more flavor if the fish was fried. The hand pressed corn tortillas were not dry at all. I did, however, think the handful of cilantro on the side was a little over the top, but it was nice as a garnish. The flavor of the Oyster Po' Boy (replaced with shrimp on this day because they were out of Oysters) was similar to that of the fish tacos, but the sandwich was still good. The Hoison Braised Pulled Duck was something that I had never seen before and I thought the use of duck in this way was very creative. Overall the dish was phenomenal, but the Hoison sauce made it a little salty. The Steak Frites was an excellent choice. The blue cheese toast was a nice compliment to the grilled NY strip steak. The truffle fries were nice and had a hint a sweetness to them. The sweet potato fries, although certainly not something new, were excellent! The major reason we came to eat at this restaurant was because of the homemade ice cream. We ordered 2 orders of the three flavor sampler of ice cream. The ice creams being served that day were: strawberry, Belgian milk chocolate, and maple pecan. The Belgian milk chocolate was absolutely amazing and we almost wished that we each had just ordered one of the milk chocolate. The ice cream was smooth, thick and it felt like you were eating a decadent chocolate bar in Switzerland (or another European country with good chocolate). The strawberry ice cream was also very good, it was not too sweet, which was nice. I thought the maple ice cream was okay, but not my favorite. The views of the White Mountains were also very nice and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset at the end our meal. I would definitely come back here, especially since the menu changes seasonally.

Ridiculously good. The chef knows what he is doing and it shines through. I have eaten here a couple of times since Fall 2010, and the preparation is outstanding. The restaurant could hold its own in any city, but here it is in Western Maine. Hands down, you will experience a fine meal, freshly prepared.

We came to Fryeburg for the Ossippee Valley Music Fest. Never heard of Fryeburg. We needed a place to stay and the Bed and Breakfast was amazing. 4 rooms only. Our room, number 3 had an exceptional view of the White Mountains. The restaurant was a huge bonus. The owners are both Chefs. We come from Miami Beach with supposedly lots of good restaurants. We had better meals in Maine; Fryeburg was the best. The farm to table approach in the Inn is apparent when you look outside and see the Farm they get so much of the food from. The dinner was exceptional. The view outstanding. I has steak frites-great steak, fries, and the sauce. squash blossom appetizers. My wife had the pork loin with a Delicious sauce. Blueberry cobbler-still tasting it weeks later. If you stay at the Inn they make you custom breakfast. Only four couples staying here so they spoil you. If you are there two days they change the menu so you don't get the same thing. They even give you a special pastry treat before a huge cooked to order breakfast. You really can't eat lunch after this and the food-pancakes with peaches, waffles, eggs with Nova, goat cheeses, veggies! Great place

My family and I had dinner at the Oxford House and every good review was dead on accurate. The Inn was clean and inviting, the staff friendly and attentive and the food prepared to perfection and elegantly presented. We completely enjoyed the meal and the fire side table. To top it off, the prices are very reasonable and left us leaving satisfied with a wonderful evening at a fair price.

People who dont like it here, are clearly use to eating at The Olive Garden. The food here is explemplary. The Chef is a grad of The American Institute of Culinary Arts. The menu is edgy. I had the Duck Gnocci. One of the best meals I have EVER eaten. We had a sampling for dessert.....Belgian Chocolate and Dulce De Leche gelato with warm cookies and a hunk of toffee. Everyone was SO amazing. There is a really cool bar downstairs :)

I grew up in Fryeburg and actually worked at this Inn when I was in High School. The Inn is now under new ownership and they added a more casual area called "Jonathan's." You can get lighter fare in this area along with anything from the regular menu. My Dad's work Christmas party was here last year and he raved about the "tapas" served in Jonathan's. My husband and I took my parents here last night and it exceeded my expectation's. The atmosphere in Jonathan's is very cozy and romantic. The lighting is perfect- not too dark. They have funky art displayed and the exposed rock of the foundation- loved it! Our server was friendly and genuine. I could tell she liked her job. We had the hand battered onion rings to start- delicious. I had the buffalo shrimp which was nice, not too spicy. The Bib salad was exciting with grapes, cashews, shallots and an incredible toasted sesame dressing. My Dad had a burger which he inhaled and my Mom and husband both devoured the brisket sandwich- they said it was unbelievably tender (I don't eat meat but I take their word for it.) We were too full for dessert but I am already looking forward to going back. It would be the perfect place to unwind after a day of skiing. Now when I visit my parents we can stay in Fryeburg instead of having to go to North Conway.

If you are in the Conway/No.Conway area, this may be THE best place for fine dining. And,it's only a 15 minute ride from No.Conway. Great food and service in a charming atmosphere.

Eat there often and LOVE IT! Always good. Love dining in the Pub in the basement. Very casual setting and great ambiance. The seared Tuna entree is my personal favorite!

Had a great meal downstairs at the bar. The risotto cheese appetizers were wonderfully light and the pint and a pound mussel deal is just that - a great deal.

Eaten at The Oxford House many times. Both in the pub and the main dining rooms. Never disappointed. Gracious hosts, good service, excellent food.

Love this place! Awesome food, wonderful rooms, friendly hosts, beautiful views... if you need a place to stay in this area, stay here! You won't be sorry. Also, consider seeing a show at the Stone Mountain Arts Center which is about 10 minutes away. Could be a nice weekend away from it all!

Lovely setting if you get a table in the back dining room.. otherwise it's just like a lot of other restaurants in this area. Cuisine is great though and rotates regularly.
