The lady who took our order was very friendly and efficient, our orders all came out as ordered. I ordered the Grilled Tuna Melt with tomatoes and cheddar, it was very good! The place is tiny so with a group of women jabbering and rearranging chairs and another table so we could sit together.....kind of reminds me of all the little restaurants in Italy where all you remember is the scrapping of chairs across the tile floors...noisy! We were there after noon, so I would really like to go back in the a.m. for one of their Sticky Rolls everyone talks about. There were a couple of rather nasty reviews here but I really didn't see anything that could be termed as "dirty" or "disgusting" just a very casual, very little place to grab a bite to eat at un-touristy prices.

I've got four words for you: CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE BAR. Need three more? Run, don't walk! They had a sample of this little life-changing delicacy out, so we promptly helped ourselves. And at that point, the rest of the pastry case just faded away, and I could barely even speak to order. So. Freaking. Delicious! Once I regained my composure, I could tell that the other pastries looked delicious, and they also offer all-day omelet a and other hearty breakfasts. The new(ish) owner is super friendly.

Man, I love this place. I occasionally work in Freeport and it's become one of my go-to places for delicious, healthy, quickly prepared food made to order, and you don't have to wait in a huge line or take out a loan to eat there. It's friendly and informal, and the chefs will talk with you about the food as they cook. Lots of local offerings, and wicked wonderful baked goods. Try the chai.... Wow.

This place is bad! The food sucked! They call themselves cafe? They don't have anything. We walked inside and they only have a big menu board. No pastries or food we can even see. Looks like they were closing down or something. Place is hot, run down and smelly and inside like a basement. Their coffee looks even worst than DD. (loos dirty) The sandwiches is pretty awful! They don't even carry rolls. Choice are so limited. I really don't know how they stay in business! I will really stay away for this place. Just go check inside and you want to leave. Ordered a ham, bacon egg sandwich. Asked them to make a scrambled egg soft. They made it over easy and fully cooked.. This is sad if they supposed to serve these on a daily bases! Awesome little place to grab breakfast or lunch. We stopped in on a weekday morning around 9:30am and were treated to a great, filling breakfast for not all that much money. I had the breakfast scramble (I can't recall exactly what it was called) and it was delicious, a great pile of filling food with just the right amount of crispy bits to make everything interesting. The wife had a Breakfast BLT that was excellent and rode to glory atop a really good ciabatta roll. Overall hard to go wrong in here. The morning I was there the owner was the only one working (this may be the normal operation) and in the 20 minutes I was there I heard her suggest interesting off-menu choices that she could whip up for several people, offer suggestions on things not related to food at all, and even give one guy a recommendation that if he wanted a milkshake she didn't make them but a competitor's business up the street would be glad to. Awesome.

This is purely based on the fact that I've only had one thing from Isabella's on my one visit when I needed a quick breakfast on my way to school. First off: The cinnamon rolls are divine. They're not gigantic, which is lovely, because you don't feel like you just got a cavity from the amount of sugar that is typically in a breakfast bun. You also don't feel "weighed down" the way that some pastries can make you feel. Secondly: The service was great! The woman (I assume the owner) was absolutely wonderful and accommodating when I had explained I'd never been. She offered to make me anything my heart desired which, if I had more than 5 minutes, I would have taken her up on! If you're in the Freeport area and are looking for a friendly place to grab some breakfast, I highly suggest Isabella's!

Cute place we stopped for a quick bite before we had to drive back to NYC. Typical american breakfast. I ordered the BLT and sticky bun and my GF ordered the western omelette. I really liked my BLT as crazy as it sounds it was well made and the flavors really meshed well together. The sticky bun was good but I wish it was warm that would have been even tastier. Omelette was typical nothing special. Though the coffee was amazing we even asked the cashier what type is was and found out it was from a local Maine spot they get it from.

I think I may have hit a personal landmark during my visit to this place: this may be the first time I've ever ordered lunch when I had the option of ordering brunch! We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm during a mid-November shopping trip to Freeport. I have known about this place for quite some time; I used to work across the street at LL Bean during my college days, but for some reason I never ventured across the street to give this place a shot. It was probably because of the deceptive name; one might think they ONLY have sticky buns. As I found out, that is definitely not the case. Isabella's is a smallish restaurant located in the bottom level/basement of a building directly off the main street. You place your order at the counter and then go take a seat at one of the booths or tables and wait for the server to bring you your food. While you wait, you can admire the colorful ocean-y art hung up around the establishment and for sale by local Maine artists. The menu has a good variety of breakfast sandwiches, brunch options, and sandwiches. I believe they also had salad and soup options as well. It wasn't that busy, but the people in front of us somehow took about 10-12 minutes to place an order for four people. I'm not sure what was up with that! We both ordered pastries to start. I got the a sticky bun, and my friend got a cinnamon roll. Both were very good. Unfortunately I can't say that they were the best I've ever had, but they were certainly enjoyable after a long day of walking and window shopping. As a meal I got the a turkey BLT (with chips) and my friend got an egg wrap of some kind (with home fries). I really enjoyed the BLT - I've never had a turkey version before, and it was very tasty and perfectly prepared. The server was responsible for all the tables and therefore extremely busy, but she still managed to tend to us when needed and was very friendly. If you're looking for a out of the way, quiet location to have a breakfast or lunch (or brunch!), definitely stop in here if you haven't given it a shot yet.

A welcoming place with a gracious hostess, the place is a little run down and the food average at best. I had a lemon blueberry scone and coffee; my son tried the blueberry pancakes. The scone was soggy, a little too sweet, and had virtually no lemon flavor. The pancakes were average and only log cabin syrup available (blasphemy for a Vermonter!). Coffee was weak. Perhaps the other pastries are better?

It is a frequent locals spot and in any town a place that the locals go is usually the place to be at. Isabella's is a cute little cafe and bakery located just off the corner of Main Street across from the L L Bean outlet store. Slightly off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trek. While the inside could use a bit of a facelift or a pop of color, if you can get past that then it is clear the owners choose quality over asthetics. There weren't too many pastry items when we arrived, but there were some cookies, cinnamon rolls and a few other baked goods still on the shelves. Frankly, I'm not surprised as we arrived around lunchtime. My friend and I ordered the Veggie Wrap and it arrived in a fresh wheat wrap with crisp lettuce, fresh onions, cucumbers and peppers and delicious boursin cheese. This is one of the best wraps I have had in a while (and I moved from NYC). My friend's fiance had a turkey, apple and cheese panini and he said it was delicious. The portion looked perfect for a 6 foot guy! He also ordered a chocolate chip cookie which he said was soft and amazing. If your blood sugar has dropped from your shopping high, this is definitely a solid pick-me-up place.

Took a long time to get my breakfast, even though all I ordered was a simple breakfast sandwich and there were hardly any people in the restaurant. I seriously waited 20 waits for it and there were just a handful of customers and lots of staff onhand. When the sandwich arrived, I was put off. It did not taste good at all. The sandwich rye bread was clearly from a supermarket, not homemade or storemade, and was dry and crumbly. The egg was pretty shady and the bread had no butter or mayo on it for extra flavor. The saving grace was the bacon, which was nice and crispy on the sandwich. But I left feeling very disappointed. Isabella's is owned by very nice folks, but the food doesn't match up with the quality of the people.

We were meeting some friends for breakfast in Freeport and were turned away from Linda Bean as their breakfast service stopped at 10:30 (it was 10:32). Anyway, checked yelp for other places for breakfast and almost didn't try Isabella's due to the 1-star review from another Yelper. I am very glad we decided to ignore it! The food was fantastic (had the breakfast burrito) and the service was pleasant. Upon arriving, there was a case full of baked goods which looked great and the sign was on the wall showing their menu, which seemed pretty full to be (pancakes, eggs, a variety of breakfast sandwiches including some "fancy" ones, breakfast burritos, etc). The one-star reviewer was correct in that you order at the register, but at least the day we went, the food was brought out to us and everyone else that was dining that day. There is seating for maybe 25 or so people. They serve Coffee By Design coffee, which I have always been a fan of (and is FAR better than DD!!) Bottom line, this place is definitely worth a stop and there was a line to the door when we left, so we are not alone in believing this place is great. If I had to criticize anything, the biscuits were a bit dry (my wife and son got egg sandwiches on homemade biscuits). As such, I resisted the temptation of a full five stars.

Your first stop in Freeport should be Isabella's because the sticky buns are a must-try before you blow all your money at the outlets. The buns have just the right amount of nuts and the texture of the dough is perfect. The dough is denser than a cinnamon roll, but I loved the chewiness and the sticky honey. The cafe also features an affordable breakfast and sandwich menu. Breakfast is served until 11 and features cheap breakfast sandwiches, an omelette, and eggs benedict. I had the sausage and cheddar omelette for $6.99, which came with fresh toasted rye bread. The espresso is also decent, which will help you shop 'til you drop the rest of the day.

While my friends shopped at the outlets, I made my way over here for some coffee. The coffee (regular) was good. I also got the breakfast - corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise sauce. They ran out of hollandaise, so it was just corned beef hash with eggs. While waiting for my order, I read Yelp on my phone and saw that everyone recommended the sticky buns. Corned beef hash was real corned beef and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I didn't get the hollandaise sauce since they ran out, but I'm sure it would have only amplified the goodness. But definitely get the sticky buns. It's super sweet, soft, and best served warm. It was my first time trying a sticky bun and I was very satisfied. The staff is friendly and although they can be overwhelmed at times, the service is efficient. Highly recommend that you make a stop at this quaint cafe that just topped off a great weekend in Maine for me.

There is plenty of seating if you want to stay to eat, but bring a sweater because it's often chilly. The hot chocolate is amazing! It's well worth the $2... Creamy and rich with just the right amount of chocolate (lots!) I'm a big fan of the cinnamon rolls (very sweet) and my mother enjoyed her lemon poppy seed scone the last time we stopped by. It is very casual and you make your own ice coffee. I went here 2 times during my day in Freeport...gotta love a coffee lover:) The first time I got a french vanilla flavor shot in my coffee and it was great! In the afternoon however there was a different person working and he put too much of the flavor shot in my cup...go easy on the sugar cause those flavor shots are SWEET! great place though would certainly revisit if I'm in Freeport again. I REALLY wanted to like this place as it was so cute and tucked away. And I was so looking forward to the stickey bun, but it was pretty horrible, as in 3 of us didn't even finish one. That definitely got a one star. It was undercooked or not raised enough or something, so that the texture was disgusting. And then soaked in an unremarkable sugar syrup. My husband's omelette was good, but my corned beef hash was a little disgusting. The "hollandaise" sauce was like lumpy gravy, and it was cold and didn't taste anything like hollandaise.

Wow, do I need to help this place out with an updated review or what?! It is certainly not a "one star" establishment and deserves at least a little high praise. I used to stop in here often back in high school when this place just opened up. They were just getting started it seemed and were still trying to figure it out. I still go once in awhile when I am back in town and Isabella's continues to evolve for the better. It is a very small quaint little place with an atmosphere about it that separates it from the overtly touristy Downtown Freeport. They have tons of breakfast items and lunch items to choose from, along with fresh baked goodies to consume with delight. The staff is always friendly and quick with your order of freshly made food. It is also on the cheaper side as compared to some cafes in the area. Trust me, this is where the locals go.

I went here on a weekend trip to freeport and the places was disgusting. The coffee left something to be desired. It tasted like dirt with a hint of cream. The Pumpkin Scone was very dry and I could barely get through eating it. My boyfriend got a coffee and drank it with disgust while he waited 30 mins just for his breakfast sandwhich. The place was overcrowded and dirty. I won't be going back again.

Great place! Stopped in for a quick bite on a recent trip to Freeport. Super friendly servers! We took advantage of "breakfast all day" and had corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise. I will agree, this place is very tiny and for some reason it takes forever to get your order up, however... it's one of the few places in downtown freeport where you can get a delicious and reasonably priced sandwich. You also don't feel "weighed down" the way that some pastries can make you feel. Secondly: The service was great! The woman (I assume the owner) was absolutely wonderful and accommodating when I had explained I'd never been. She offered to make me anything my heart desired which, if I had more than 5 minutes, I would have taken her up on! If you're in the Freeport area and are looking for a friendly place to grab some breakfast, I highly suggest Isabella's!

Cute place we stopped for a quick bite before we had to drive back to NYC. Typical american breakfast. I ordered the BLT and sticky bun and my GF ordered the western omelette. I really liked my BLT as crazy as it sounds it was well made and the flavors really meshed well together. The sticky bun was good but I wish it was warm that would have been even tastier. Omelette was typical nothing special. Though the coffee was amazing we even asked the cashier what type is was and found out it was from a local Maine spot they get it from.

I think I may have hit a personal landmark during my visit to this place: this may be the first time I've ever ordered lunch when I had the option of ordering brunch! We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm during a mid-November shopping trip to Freeport. I have known about this place for quite some time; I used to work across the street at LL Bean during my college days, but for some reason I never ventured across the street to give this place a shot. It was probably because of the deceptive name; one might think they ONLY have sticky buns. As I found out, that is definitely not the case. Isabella's is a smallish restaurant located in the bottom level/basement of a building directly off the main street. You place your order at the counter and then go take a seat at one of the booths or tables and wait for the server to bring you your food. While you wait, you can admire the colorful ocean-y art hung up around the establishment and for sale by local Maine artists. The menu has a good variety of breakfast sandwiches, brunch options, and sandwiches. I believe they also had salad and soup options as well. It wasn't that busy, but the people in front of us somehow took about 10-12 minutes to place an order for four people. I'm not sure what was up with that! We both ordered pastries to start. I got the a sticky bun, and my friend got a cinnamon roll. Both were very good. Unfortunately I can't say that they were the best I've ever had, but they were certainly enjoyable after a long day of walking and window shopping. As a meal I got the a turkey BLT (with chips) and my friend got an egg wrap of some kind (with home fries). I really enjoyed the BLT - I've never had a turkey version before, and it was very tasty and perfectly prepared. The server was responsible for all the tables and therefore extremely busy, but she still managed to tend to us when needed and was very friendly. If you're looking for a out of the way, quiet location to have a breakfast or lunch (or brunch!), definitely stop in here if you haven't given it a shot yet.

A welcoming place with a gracious hostess, the place is a little run down and the food average at best. I had a lemon blueberry scone and coffee; my son tried the blueberry pancakes. The scone was soggy, a little too sweet, and had virtually no lemon flavor. The pancakes were average and only log cabin syrup available (blasphemy for a Vermonter!). Coffee was weak. Perhaps the other pastries are better?

It is a frequent locals spot and in any town a place that the locals go is usually the place to be at. And being a local it is also good to come in because often you can get the heads up on what is on the menu or if they by chance are out of something you usually get when walking in the door.

We arrived to find the "cafe" was located in a rather bleak basement setting with little natural light. The staff was attentive and friendly and my breakfast burrito was good. However, my wife's egg sandwich was dry and tasteless and they offered only one coffee selection that was barely drinkable .

Isabella's is a cute little cafe and bakery located just off the corner of Main Street across from the L L Bean outlet store. Slightly off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trek. While the inside could use a bit of a facelift or a pop of color, if you can get past that then it is clear the owners choose quality over asthetics. There weren't too many pastry items when we arrived, but there were some cookies, cinnamon rolls and a few other baked goods still on the shelves. Frankly, I'm not surprised as we arrived around lunchtime. My friend and I ordered the Veggie Wrap and it arrived in a fresh wheat wrap with crisp lettuce, fresh onions, cucumbers and peppers and delicious boursin cheese. This is one of the best wraps I have had in a while (and I moved from NYC). My friend's fiance had a turkey, apple and cheese panini and he said it was delicious. The portion looked perfect for a 6 foot guy! He also ordered a chocolate chip cookie which he said was soft and amazing. If your blood sugar has dropped from your shopping high, this is definitely a solid pick-me-up place.

Took a long time to get my breakfast, even though all I ordered was a simple breakfast sandwich and there were hardly any people in the restaurant. I seriously waited 20 waits for it and there were just a handful of customers and lots of staff onhand. When the sandwich arrived, I was put off. It did not taste good at all. The sandwich rye bread was clearly from a supermarket, not homemade or storemade, and was dry and crumbly. The egg was pretty shady and the bread had no butter or mayo on it for extra flavor. The saving grace was the bacon, which was nice and crispy on the sandwich. But I left feeling very disappointed. Isabella's is owned by very nice folks, but the food doesn't match up with the quality of the people.

We were meeting some friends for breakfast in Freeport and were turned away from Linda Bean as their breakfast service stopped at 10:30 (it was 10:32). Anyway, checked yelp for other places for breakfast and almost didn't try Isabella's due to the 1-star review from another Yelper. I am very glad we decided to ignore it! The food was fantastic (had the breakfast burrito) and the service was pleasant. Upon arriving, there was a case full of baked goods which looked great and the sign was on the wall showing their menu, which seemed pretty full to be (pancakes, eggs, a variety of breakfast sandwiches including some "fancy" ones, breakfast burritos, etc). The one-star reviewer was correct in that you order at the register, but at least the day we went, the food was brought out to us and everyone else that was dining that day. There is seating for maybe 25 or so people. They serve Coffee By Design coffee, which I have always been a fan of (and is FAR better than DD!!) Bottom line, this place is definitely worth a stop and there was a line to the door when we left, so we are not alone in believing this place is great. If I had to criticize anything, the biscuits were a bit dry (my wife and son got egg sandwiches on homemade biscuits). As such, I resisted the temptation of a full five stars.

Excellent, simple breakfast. Corned beef hash and eggs with hollandaise. Real corned beef, fresh hollandaise. Eggs cooked perfectly over easy. A breakfast wrap in a grilled spinach tortilla with mango black bean salsa and eggs was said to be delicious. The two eggs over easy "not on top" of the toast were grilled sunny side up. Did I mention the sticky bun? Just get one. They're flippin amazing! Seriously.

Your first stop in Freeport should be Isabella's because the sticky buns are a must-try before you blow all your money at the outlets. The buns have just the right amount of nuts and the texture of the dough is perfect. The dough is denser than a cinnamon roll, but I loved the chewiness and the sticky honey. The cafe also features an affordable breakfast and sandwich menu. Breakfast is served until 11 and features cheap breakfast sandwiches, an omelette, and eggs benedict. I had the sausage and cheddar omelette for $6.99, which came with fresh toasted rye bread. The espresso is also decent, which will help you shop 'til you drop the rest of the day.

While my friends shopped at the outlets, I made my way over here for some coffee. The coffee (regular) was good. I also got the breakfast - corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise sauce. They ran out of hollandaise, so it was just corned beef hash with eggs. While waiting for my order, I read Yelp on my phone and saw that everyone recommended the sticky buns. Corned beef hash was real corned beef and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I didn't get the hollandaise sauce since they ran out, but I'm sure it would have only amplified the goodness. But definitely get the sticky buns. It's super sweet, soft, and best served warm. It was my first time trying a sticky bun and I was very satisfied. The staff is friendly and although they can be overwhelmed at times, the service is efficient. Highly recommend that you make a stop at this quaint cafe that just topped off a great weekend in Maine for me.

Liked it! A fun, little subterranean coffee shop where the people are genuinely friendly and the portions are large. I had an egg and spinach wrap which would put to shame anything from Chipotle, and the wife had french toast and a side of fresh fruit. It's cute, reasonable, and did I mention they are really nice? You've got to try the new homemade hot chocolate! The owner has been perfecting her own recipe of bittersweet chocolate and cocoa. She nailed it. The flavor is full bodied, just sweet enough and it drinks perfectly flavored to the last sip!

This is a great place to grab a quick bite or a hot beverage. They atmosphere is very casual. The menu is up on chalkboards by the counter. There is plenty of seating if you want to stay to eat, but bring a sweater because it's often chilly. The hot chocolate is amazing! It's well worth the $2... Creamy and rich with just the right amount of chocolate (lots!) I'm a big fan of the cinnamon rolls (very sweet) and my mother enjoyed her lemon poppy seed scone the last time we stopped by. If you haven't been in a while come and check it out, the new owner has a lot to offer.

What a cute coffee shop. I love traveling to new places and finding the little run down mom and pop coffee shops...and that just what this place is. It is very casual and you make your own ice coffee. I went here 2 times during my day in Freeport...gotta love a coffee lover:) The first time I got a french vanilla flavor shot in my coffee and it was great! In the afternoon however there was a different person working and he put too much of the flavor shot in my cup...go easy on the sugar cause those flavor shots are SWEET! great place though would certainly revisit if I'm in Freeport again. The stores are great...they don't mind if you walk around while sipping your coffee:)

I REALLY wanted to like this place as it was so cute and tucked away. And I was so looking forward to the stickey bun, but it was pretty horrible, as in 3 of us didn't even finish one. That definitely got a one star. It was undercooked or not raised enough or something, so that the texture was disgusting. And then soaked in an unremarkable sugar syrup. My husband's omelette was good, but my corned beef hash was a little disgusting. The "hollandaise" sauce was like lumpy gravy, and it was cold and didn't taste anything like hollandaise.

Wow, do I need to help this place out with an updated review or what?! It is certainly not a "one star" establishment and deserves at least a little high praise. I used to stop in here often back in high school when this place just opened up. They were just getting started it seemed and were still trying to figure it out. I still go once in awhile when I am back in town and Isabella's continues to evolve for the better. It is a very small quaint little place with an atmosphere about it that separates it from the overtly touristy Downtown Freeport. They have tons of breakfast items and lunch items to choose from, along with fresh baked goodies to consume with delight. The staff is always friendly and quick with your order of freshly made food. It is also on the cheaper side as compared to some cafes in the area. Trust me, this is where the locals go.

I went here on a weekend trip to freeport and the places was disgusting. The coffee left something to be desired. It tasted like dirt with a hint of cream. The Pumpkin Scone was very dry and I could barely get through eating it. My boyfriend got a coffee and drank it with disgust while he waited 30 mins just for his breakfast sandwhich. The place was overcrowded and dirty. I won't be going back again.

Great place! Stopped in for a quick bite on a recent trip to Freeport. Super friendly servers! We took advantage of "breakfast all day" and had corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise. It came out quickly and was surprisingly delicious! Real shaved corned beef with potatoes and a little bit of sweet potato mixed in. Friends we were with had sandwiches and everything was good and very reasonably priced. We'll be back!

I will agree, this place is very tiny and for some reason it takes forever to get your order up, however... it's one of the few places in downtown freeport where you can get a delicious and reasonably priced sandwich. Don't expect high class here; just get here before the afternoon rush or get your sandwich to go and enjoy! Beats crappy, overpriced hotdog stands any day!
