We were traveling through ME during Labor Day weekend and luckily found this wonderful B&B. Our host, Bev, was extremely friendly & welcoming! She cooked a wonderful breakfast and welcomed us to bottled water and tea or coffee anytime day or night. Our room was extremely spacious, decorated nicely and very clean. The house was beautiful with a huge yard and within walking distance to town and restaurants. Our black lab was also welcomed with open arms! Definitely a place to return to and recommend to our friends!!!

Fourth of July Weekend = Small Town America Staying in Maine = Doing It Right, B&B Style After searching and searching for the right place to spend the Fourth, I decided on Freeport, Maine, a place that I used to visit a lot as a child when I lived on a sailboat. After searching some more, I found the perfect B&B. Bed: When we first pulled up to the Captain Briggs, it was pouring. I mean, hurricane-type rain, but through the deluge, I could still see the cute white, New England house would be entirely too charming, and it was. We were staying the Bayberry Room, underneath the stairs, but not in a bad way. The room had a large bay window, and comfortably accommodated the queen bed and two chairs. There was even a fireplace filled with candles for us. We had a private bath (as does every room) although the shower and toilet were separate from the sink. The common room had two dining tables and enough seats for everyone, as well as a few board games, DirecTV and a mini fridge. Not one to be behind the times, this B&B has free WiFi as well, which came in handy when we chose to stay in after dinner one night and watch TV online. Outside there is a grill and large lawn with a bench swing. The Captain Briggs is pet-friendly, too, there were two different dogs staying in the house while we were there. I can't say enough how supremely nice our hosts were, though. Bev and Chuck went out of their way, not only to wait up for us on the long drive up from the city, but to make sure we were comfortable and having a good time. Great people at a great location with a great bed. Captain Briggs is off of Main Street, but not far off. A quick 5 minute walk will take you from the quiet Maple Street to the center of the outlet stores on Main. Bev and Chuck include a binder in each room with suggestions for food and activities that was extremely helpful, both when shopping and describing how to get around. Breakfast: For someone who didn't really know how to cook before she opened a B&B, Bev sure can serve a mean breakfast. Every morning there was a fruit dish, followed by a carb and a some protein. There was a strawberry parfait our first morning, followed by walnut syrup drizzled waffles and sausage. Almost too sweet, but I still devoured it all. Next up was a fresh fruit salad, some delicious cinnamon bread--the recipe is online, thankfully--and a hash brown crusted veggie and cheddar quiche. The last morning, when we actually moved from our usual spots, was a frozen berry sorbet with blueberry pancakes and bacon. Coffee and a variety of teas were always available, as well some some simple pastries or cereals if that's all you wanted. If you have to leave very early in the morning, Bev'll even prepare a little to to basket for you so you won't get hungry. All in all, it was one the best night's sleep I've had in a while: listening to the rain the night we arrived, with candle light in an old slightly-creaky house. It was the middle of the season and, considering we stayed over 4th of July weekend, from Thursday to Sunday, it was a really reasonably priced, under $150 a night. So much fun we had, we're already planning a second trip!

The owners are very accommodating, welcoming and great hosts. The bathroom in the Azalea room is small but not a problem. The inn is within walking distance of the shopping area and excellent places to eat. I'd stay here again!!

We generally like to keep to ourselves and are on the quiet side. So I was a little hesitant to stay at a B&B. However, this was a very nice place. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Their breakfasts were excellent. The rooms were a little loud, but that is to be expected with any older B&B. The bathroom in the evergreen room is HUGE. This is a dog friendly B&B and if you need to crate your dog, this is the room to get. You can fit an XXL crate into the room and you would still have plenty of space. The location couldn't have been better. Its on a nice, quiet street at the end of all the shops so you can relax after a long day of shopping or doing LL Bean adventures. It was comfortable, you could socialize if you wanted or stay in your room and read or sleep if you didn't want to. We will be staying here from now on.

I'm no Yelper, but a place like Capt Briggs B&B demands such high praise that I shall draft my first review in their honor. First off, if you're reading this and debating between here and the Harraseeket next door, congratulations, you have the easiest decision to make in the world. Capt Briggs is the hands-down winner! The rooms are, just, ridiculously cute. My girlfriend could not stop talking about it, and I would agree (we stayed in the forget-me-not suite, which easily accommodates 4-5 people). They have charm, they have space, and they have all the amenities you will need. The breakfast the next morning was delicious, nutritious, and full of good company (a dish of yogurt packed with fruit, delicious homemade vegetable quiche, crispy bacon, and tender coffee cake). Chuck and Beverly are two fine and gracious hosts, and you owe it to yourself to stay at their inn if you're passing through!

Cute and quaint b&b right near the heart of the town of Freeport. Fantastic location with a great lawn in front for hangouts. Pros: great price for freeport (in comparison with surrounding inns), location is great, rooms are comfortable with great amenities, bev and chuck are lovely. Very accommodating with children - bev made special pancakes. Cons: breakfast was a bit of a hit or a miss - don't get me wrong, lots of nutritious food (always fruit or parfait), but the french toast/cake we had was a bit too sour with the berries and the sausage too salty. Felt really rushed during the check out times, kept getting asked when we were going to check out and felt like we were being herded out. Granted we were a big group, but from 8.30 - 10.30 am on check out morning, felt like we kept getting asked so we finally just left.

Simply lovely. Stayed for business and got a great rate.Good place, good folks, good location- near food and shops but not right on top of the main st. Not fancy- but cute and comfy.
