Not a bad choice if you need a snack on your way to Bah Habah - but if you can make it to the Trenton Lobster Pound instead, do that. I had a fried fish sandwich which was decent, but the extra money I paid for one slice each of lettuce and tomato wasn't worth it. My family got the lobster and it was good, but again, kind of silly to have to pay extra for butter when dipping things in butter = pretty much the point of eating lobster. The corn on the cob was also good, but it tasted like it had definitely been cooked in lobster water - ask if you're vegan or otherwise don't want the essence of lobster with your vegetables. The plus side: eating outside, nice picnic tables and bathroom, decently fast service.

Good fried food. I had the fried scallops while everyone else at my table had the fried clams. We also ordered the lobster stew. It had a lot more lobster than I thought it would. But I don't think the bowl size was worth $16.99. It was quite creamy but had the grease from the lobster so it didn't look appetizing, but it was good. It hit the spot. Maybe even a bit on the rich side. The decor is very distracting. Everything is for sale and its just too busy.

First let me say that all of these fried seafood shacks in Maine are ripoffs. Too expensive for the small amount of food you get. After you fork over $20 and look at your tiny cardboard dish of fried scallops on a bed of fries, your mouth just drops open--and not from mouth-watering anticipation. You can't believe you just paid that much for such a small dish of food. That said, I found Lunts to be an even bigger ripoff than others: Big price, measly portions. Our order of scallops, haddock and a lobster roll (plus a grilled cheese sandwich for a picky eater) came to a staggering $57. And the portions were tiny. Maybe 10 scallops. They tasted OK, though quite greasy. The haddock was OK. Nothing special. Lobster roll was tasteless. Cole slaw was terrible. We were all disappointed in the food here. (The prices in the photos on this site are out of date: Scallop dinner = $20; Lobster roll = $15. Haddock dinner = $15.) We paid about the same amount a few nights earlier in Bucksport at Mainely Lobster but there we felt the portions were larger and less of a ripoff. We all ate our fill there. Not so at Lunts.

Clam Chowder unbelievably good! Fried pickles are amazing... They use spears & not chips. Service (Sarah) was on time & very friendly.

I had the fried clams with onion rings and two local craft beers, both we're great and prices were reasonable. in addition, the staff was super friendly. Would definitely come back.

Food was decent, but agree about small portions given the price. The lobster roll was measly. Nothing around Mount Desert Island is going to be cheap, but I did not feel like I got a good value.

Good solid lobster pound. I liked the choice of inside tables service. I have had better lobster and the lobster Mac and cheese was actually lobster with Kraft Mac and cheese. Not good.

Came here on business before on a weekday for lunch and the food and service were great. This place is ran by a family, and when you walk in you get the typical New England feel which I am accustomed to and enjoy. Eating here feels more like you are eating at your grandma's house rather than dining out. What they serve here is simple, honest, good food. No pretentious microgreens; no fancy oils. I had: Clam chowder: it was a bit on the salty side, but there were enough crackers to bring down the seasoning level. Lobsters: fresh, cheap, awesome. Blueberry pie: good. I'm not a dessert person at all, my good is probably the average person's great. Don't forget to pick up a souvenir on your way out!

My wife and I made this our first stop for lobster on a vacation to the area. It seemed to be in a convenient location on the way out toward Acadia and Desert Island. It was just after the lunch hour and the place was about half filled. The first thing to note was all of the gift items you could buy EVERYWHERE around the place. A little overwhelming and really doesn't help the atmosphere in my opinion. The host gave us choice of area to sit, we stayed on the cluttered inside. We ordered a whole lobster and fried clams. The lobster was wonderful tasting as well we're the clams. The service seemed to be short handed because we were never checked on...really only saw the waitress to order, receive our meal, and receive the check. Never offered refills. Never asked how we were doing. Good food. Less than average service. I So want to see them succeed because it looks like the place has wonderful history...however it needs some work on the cluttered "touristy" atmosphere and some help with its service staff

Asian Alert! As we entered the place, we felt the animosity from the staff. ( its a family owned business ). The cashier wifey/grandma is a certified snob. Wont even greet you, not even treat you as human. Worst experience. I came all the way to maine from cali just to have this awful experience. If i could give NO stars! I certainly would!

  • Suzy F.

The staff was pleasant and friendly. We had the lobster and Mac and cheese which was a BIG MISTAKE! They charged us 6.99 for a bowl the size of a teacup! It tasted like the cheapest American cheese melted over macaroni and flavorless tiny pieces of lobster. The salad consist Ed of iceberg lettuce with Ranch dressing that had an off-taste. We has steamed lobster that was rubbery and overlooked. Thank goodness for the French fries, which were the best part of the meal, but certainly nothing special. We had a great time in Maine and ate many delicious meals, but this was a disappointment :(

  • E Y.

The lobster is the best, smaller lobster but it's the most delicious ones, better than bigger one. And they have the most delicious onion rings, love them

Lobster shack on side of road. Sit in the picnic area. Nice soft and hard shell lobster. Very tasty. Small portions for sides but worth the while and not expensive

We love to travel, eat out, and write reviews of our experiences, but we're not experienced in lobster eating! So, I have very limited basis for comparison in this category. In fact this was hubby's first whole lobster and my first hot lobster roll. We had each eaten a cold lobster roll a few days prior to our Gateway Lunt's meal. The waitress seemed to take an interest in hubby's first whole lobster encounter. She said he could refer to the instructions on his paper placemat, and she promised to check in on him to observe his progress during the meal. He handily dismantled and devoured the large crustacean sprawled across his plate, with the waitress' continued encouragement and approval throughout our dinner. He enjoyed the lobster and I enjoyed the lobster roll, sharing with each other as we ate. The four star "Yay! I'm a fan" seemed the appropriate rating for Gateway Lunts Lobster Pound at our September 26th visit. As a footnote: the term "lobster pound" was a curiosity to us. The only "pounds" we were familiar with were the ones with homeless dogs and cats, many of whom come to an unfortunate end. Hmm, I guess the lobsters have a similar fate at their pounds. Travel elevates you intellectually!

The old bait and switch. The sign out front says Lobster $4.99/lb.. The menu inside say $9.99 Waited 20 minutes for an $18 bowl of lobster "stew" that consisted of 6 pieces of lobster and a creamy broth. Not a single vegetable. No salad or anything to go with it. A friend of mine who is a local Maine resident said: "The places by the bridge are tourist traps. Sorry, I should have warned you."

While on vacation in Southwest Harbor we drove past so many lobster pounds and didn't know which to choose. We decided on Gateway Lunts when we saw lobster stew on the sign outside. The stew was delicious. Five star. But it was ridiculously overpriced for the amount of food and kind of place it is. The "large" (16 oz, maybe?) set me back $19.43. Being from out of town and routinely seeing lobster on special for around $5-6 / pound at home, we expected a better value where the lobsters are plentiful, especially from a casual takeout spot without the ambiance. I didn't mind paying $26 for my lobster and seafood risotto at a sit-down restaurant the day before. The next day my husband and I both had lunch someplace else (lobster roll for me, burger and hot dog for my land lubber) for $25 + change. $20 for a small portion of soup at a roadside shack is a ripoff plain and simple. I must have had the same server as Annie C. She seemed annoyed to be there and about five minutes after I'd ordered, while waiting for my food, we heard her tell a family of six (coldly) that the takeout window is now closed but they could go to the dining room if they want to - like she was doing them a favor. We watched them leave. Turning away customers like that can't be good for business. Delicious lobster stew but highly overpriced for what it is and (at least one of) the staff could use a little training in customer service.

This place was on the way home from Acadia National Park. Most lobster shacks in the area are closed for the season (October) so we ended up here because I want another lobster roll one last time. Interior definitely threw me off a bit when I stepped inside. It felt like a souvenir shop/pit stop more than a place to eat. We proceeded to order Lobster mac & cheese and a lobster roll with butter instead of mayo. Portions were very small for the price. But food was okay.

  • Dan C.

Just a really odd spot atmosphere wise. All sorts of kitschy crap all over the walls. Not what I wanted to stare at while eating my food, but w/e. This was the only place open past 7:30 at night. I was hoping for a bunch of shellfish but what they had seemed overpriced and practically everything on the menu was fried leaving limited options. I do have to say my chicken fingers were pretty good, but why come here over the other no frills, no waiter service, better menu lobster pounds should they be open.

  • Uncle J.

While the food is mmm ok, but the service is very slow. The old crazy lady, who runs the place does not really understand what service means and treat the customers like annoying kids.

Was in Acadia/Bar Harbor area for a week during August. We drove to at least 10 different lobster pounds in the area to inquire about prices on lobster dinners. **THIS IS HANDS-DOWN THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO GET A FULL COOKED LOBSTER.** You'll hear a lot about "hard shell" and "soft/new shell" lobsters. Soft-shell lobsters have just moulted and technically have more water and less meat, while hard shells have a more rubbery texture and more meat per lobster. That being said, soft shells are always cheaper and at $5.99/lb at Lunts in the middle of summer, you just have to go here and order a soft-shell. The lobsters are reasonably-sized (1.25 lbs each), but for the price of a regular lobster dinner at any other place (~$15-20), you can just get 2-3 lobsters and Lunts! Lots of other places also have these absurd "cooking" fees but at Lunts, they charge you no extra. For four people, we spent $35 on 5 tender lobsters and were very satisfied. One day, I tried the crab roll for $10 and it was also very good. My only complaint is their other seafood items are pretty pricey. A very small order of clams for $10... yikes, I can find much better in Boston. You order at the counter and then can sit in or outside to eat and is good for groups. The decor is no-frills and there is no waiter service. The wait from ordering to food is about 15 minutes. There is a lovely article on the wall about the family business -- it's a must-read while you wait! I really can't recommend this place enough and can't understand why any lobster-lover would go anywhere else. Unless you like to burn money when you're bored, check this lovely family business out! It will really be impossible to be disappointed.

This is the second lobster pound that I visited with Trenton Bridge being the first. The lobsters don't compare, but it is still good and cheap to get fresh, steamed, cooked lobster. I also ordered sides of french fries (delicious, fried and crispy!) as well as steamers and mussels. There is seating indoors, I don't quite remember if there was seating outdoors. There is a sink outside for you to wash your hands after eating lobsters as well as paper towel rolls for you to use. It can get pretty packed, depending what time you go as well as the party amount that you have. When I went, there was a big family that was celebrating someone's birthday and we went when it was about closing time. Usually at lobster pounds, there would be a last call for seating but you can still order lobsters to go. Overall, this place was not bad at all, given the prices. But Trenton Bridge is much better and juicier when it comes to the lobsters!

I think you should avoid this tourist trap there are many better places to go. We ordered two pound lobsters at $11.99 per pound. We were served smaller lobsters and Waitress refused to help us. She said she wasn't allowed to weigh lobsters. Place is a mess with lots of paper stacked in various places on and behind the counter. Pretty disorganized and a tad on the not quite clean side. Would never go here again.

Stopped here on the way back from visiting Acadia National Park to pick up some fresh boiled lobsters and clams to take back for dinner. The two young women working at the ordering counter were really surly looking. No smiles what-so-ever. Come on girls, you're dealing with customers directly, crack a smile and don't look so miserable. I've gone to 3 lobster places and they were all selling 1-1/4 pounders for $5.99 a pound, same here. The lobsters and clams were boiled in giant metal pots with these long metal steam pipes outside. It was kind of fun to see. Their lobsters actually tasted the best out of all the boiled ones I've tried during my trip. Maybe it's because they used actual wood? Although the clams tasted good, ALL of them had tons of sand! Mom tried to rinse them out but that also rinsed out the natural clam juices. Good place to stop for some lobster. Although I loved the clams, I did not love eating sand so you might want to skip that.

Food was ok, total tourist trap! So overpriced! The amount of clams and fries my husband got for 18.99 was a joke! Most restaurants will at least load your plate with fries. My fried haddock was good and fish portion ok. Everyone left hungry and disappointed, too expensive, Never going back!

My dad ate here when visiting Bar Harbor. He went for the lobster dinner - the lobster was very good, french fries and coleslaw. Make sure you leave room for the blueberry pie! Nice waitstaff.

It's not the best place to eat lobster around Maine, but it is passable. The lobster isn't particularly cheap or big. The steamers(clams) and mussels are pretty standard for a lobster pound. Prices are a little high for pretty much anything. The service isn't so great here - I see the waitresses all sitting at one table generally looking bored and not too excited about their job.

Local, fresh, cheap...and very good! I've had a lot of lobster, but never this fresh, this good, and this cheap!

My bf and I did not realize that most lobster places shut down during low season (before Memorial day), and the ones around yearlong close for the day at 5pm. Nevertheless, we are here in Maine in mid-May and we want lobster (and we refuse to dine in touristy traps in downtown Bar Harbor)! Lunts was still open at 7pm, and we were pleasantly surprised at the price, quality, and service!! This is a family business, owned partly by our waitress (who was also a teacher and she was so very friendly and joked around with us). I agree that the decor is tacky, stuck in the mid-1990s (like the rest of Maine), with knickknacks and weird Maine magnets and toys. The tables are covered with a vinyl/plastic tablecloth, and they use Styrofoam plates/bowls- not the most environmentally friendly. For food, my bf and I each had a lobster dinner (a regular lobster, plus 2 sides; 16.99 p/person that evening) and an appetizer of fried clams ($6?). Lobster was very fresh, yummy, juicy, and served with a side of butter. We were not disappointed! I would not recommend getting the mixed salad (just iceberg lettuce with bits of tomatoes), but the fries and coleslaw was OK. The Fried clams were not as good as the ones we had at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth, but they were good. They also had a peanut butter pie and apple crisp that were very tasty and a good conclusion to our dinner. We would definitely come back here if we return to Bar Harbor.

We went here at the beginning of the week and had a good dinner and drinks which they refilled. On Sunday we thought we would go out there again and what a surprise we got. My steamers were still good but they said they didn't refill drinks... they didn't tell us that and it was not posted anywhere! Our friends food came out at room temperature and her husbands order of steamed clams never came out ~ when questioned, the girl had forgotten to put the order in,,, when we complained about the drink refills (which is important to us) and the food, other then the steamers I got, they got defensive and hostile... then proceded to argue with us. If they would have apologized and gave us a refill on our drinks it would have been a different outcome. Instead the girl working there said that he only waited 5 minutes for his clams when in fact he waited 15 minutes ~ the rest of us were already done eating when they arrived... The decor is tacky and so much dusty junk sitting around it makes you wonder how clean is the kitchen. The staff were incredibly rude and it just got us more upset so there was a bad outcome. If you want good seafood go to Trenton's just down the road... Friendly, GREAT food and good service....

Ok, first place we ate on this trip. Looked decent but was over priced for the food. We had sautéed lobster roll which was very good, but pretty small. Everything here is ala carte so when you pay $16 for a hot dog bun with some lobster meat, know that is all you are getting. The roll was tasty however so it was worth giving them some extra stars. Also had the clam chowder which was an average cup of chowder.

Why wait until Bar Harbor to eat lobster, when you can eat lobster on the way to Bar Harbor. Yes this place is located half way between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. It's very close to the bridge connecting Mount Desert Island to the mainland. When I stepped inside I said to myself "Now this is Maine". The inside has a nice selection of "junk" on the walls and the decor is quite interesting, to say the least. But I loved it. It's got lots of character. The staff all looked like from the same family, with grandma running the cash register. And all the customers looked to be locals (yes, locals enjoy a good lobster dinner on occasion, not just us cockamamie tourists). Regarding lobster rolls, they serve both types; cold with mayo or hot with butter. Ordering a "lobster roll" will get you the cold with mayo version by default. I got that and it was both excellent and reasonably priced! This place isn't hard to find. Like I said, it's very close to the bridge.

Had the lobster stew, the lobster mac 'n cheese, a hamburger, and onion rings. The lobster stew was great, but the mac 'n cheese was a travesty: it was instant craft mac 'n cheese with lobster added and ritz crackers crumbled on top. It was disgusting... we couldn't eat it, so we tried to pick the lobster out, but even it was rubbery. The onion rings were great.

Over priced and bad service. Only seen the waitress total three times. Sitting, ordering, and paying. It was not even that busy. Fixed price vs. market price should be explained more clearly. Never ever going back! Don't be fooled with pictures of the former presidents. It's all HISTORY!!!!

This place apparently staffs all of Maine's rudest people! The young woman at the window ignored me for 10 minutes, not bothering to ask what I wanted or let me know how long I would need to wait. We came during a dinner rush, and I don't mind waiting a little, but when I tried to let her know that I just wanted a couple of pounds of live clams to go, she refused to take my order. Another cashier asked me if I'd been helped yet, but when I tried to give my order to her, the other woman waived her off! After standing around idly for 10 minutes, that young woman walked away, and an older gentleman came near the window. I thought that maybe he was the owner, and I asked him politely if there was someone who could take my order. And he yelled at me! "Do you see anybody just standing around?!?!" he shouted. Actually, yeah, I did, but I didn't bother arguing with him. I just took my business down the street. So, to sum up, I stood at their window for 10 minutes, no one took my order, the one person who tried to take my order was waived off, I got yelled at, and walked away with no food. I'm loving my trip to Maine, and I'll be here another few days, but I won't be back to Lunt's.

Another lobster pound, another tired overcooked lobster. Friendly service in a Ronald Reagan cult environment but FRESH means everything. Get a really fresh lobster at Parson's or even Hanafords Supermarket.

  • M. M.

Slow service despite arriving at 2:30 on a weekday. Average food, missing condiments on our table, shell was in my mother's crab roll, packed seating, and you feel like you're eating in someone's old house because you are. Definitely priced for tourists, not locals: a 1-pound lobster dinner cost more here than twins with sides in Rockland and Stonington. I've worked as a waitress for a lobster restaurant and I wouldn't recommend this place.

One of the few places open in the off season before Memorial Day weekend, so this was a good option for our first real lobster dinner of the trip. Fried scallops: lightly breaded so that you can really taste the scallop. excellent. Clam chowder: kind of thin and runny, but there were good chunks of potato and clams. The lobster dinner was about $17 per person and it came with two sides. Like someone else said in a previous review, the tossed salad was nothing to write home about and neither was the cole slaw. The fries came out hot and crispy, so no complaints there. The lobsters themselves were a little bit small, but it was very convenient that they had all the claws and joints cracked for us already. Simply done and served with drawn butter. Quite tasty.

who cares about the decor you are at a lobster pound! if they serve a lobster on a plate i'm happy. this place was recommended by the inkeepers at a B&B we stayed at. they are locals and when they want lobster they come here. we ordered steamers to share -- which were reasonably priced and delicious. my partner got the lobster dinner -- 1-1/4 and two sides. and i oreder a two pounder -- which actually came out to about 2-1/3. they were both perfectly cooked and delicious. would definitely go back!

I'm not a lobster person. I can't believe I'm admitting that on Yelp but it really doesn't do anything for me, so when I ended up at a place called the lobster pound I knew I was in trouble. I opted for the crab cakes which were not the lump crabcakes I'm accustomed to but rather a ground crab concoction fried to form a thick, bready crust on the outside with a mushy inside. Not terrible but not wonderful. Slaw was OK and the fries of the frozen variety. Everyone who ate lobster and steamers said they were good. I'll take their word for it.

We were trying to stop at as many clam/lobster/chowder shacks as possible during our trip. Didn't try the lobster, just the chowder and the fried clams. The chowder was fairly good but the fried clams were excellent.

Knick nacks on every available inch of surface. Ok, I have never seen so many trinkets in such a small space, but man oh man the food helped us forget the tacky surroundings! We were in Maine for a week to celebrate my mom's seventieth birthday since she had never been to New England. We tried several restaurants, but Lunts' clam chowder ($7) and lobster stew ($17!!!) were by far the tastiest. The lobsters were juicy and the corn sweet. The blueberry pie was delightful. We arrived just before closing and they did everything they could to accommodate our late birthday dinner and made us feel welcomed. They close pretty early. Don't bother with stew man's pound in Bar Harbor when you have such better restaurants in Trenton. We packed chowder and stew in our cooler to drive back to NY. They were fresh for a few days after we got back. Delicious!!!

Quintessential lobster pound experience. Amazing lobster stew, perfect lobster, and great sides. You won't find a nicer waitstaff anywhere in Maine. Doreen's the best!

When I lived in NYC we would vacation on Bar Harbor. My memories of lobster pounds still make my mouth water. When I had the opportunity to return to Bar Harbor 35 years later for a lecture I couldn't wait to introduce my Midwest reared wife to the joys of fresh steamed lobster. The Lunt's name seemed familiar, the service was okay, but the lobster was a huge disappointment. I'm not an expert, but my one and a half pounder seemed more like the rubbery frozen lobster I could get anywhere, not the fresh briny delicious lobster that I dreamed about for years. My advice? When passing by Lunts keep on going.

    (2)
  • Eric W.

We would not choose to have our lobster dinner anywhere else. Not too crowded- it's far enough away from the hustle-bustle in to Bar Harbor. I'm giving 5 stars not just because the lobster was the best around, but because the service was first-class. The staff is as friendly as I've ever experienced, they treated us like family and they were patient and sweet to our inquisitive daughter. Do not pass Lunt's up!

  • Diana F.

The first thing you notice at Lunt's is the wonderful aroma of wood smoke. I ate there for the 2nd time in 3 days and loved the sautéed lobster roll, sweet potato fries and onion rings. The blueberry pie was a delicious finish to a great lunch. I'm not a beer drinker, but my cousin loved the Drop Dead Red beer. The service was outstanding!! You can do all your souvenir shopping at the same time, as they have lots of cute tchotchkes, in a state of delightful chaos. Don't pass by this lobster pound!

  • Lisa B.

Come for the food but enjoy the kitschy chachka. Don't miss the onion rings! Corn on the cob was perfection as it is often over cooked. This family has been at it for over 45 years and the food tells the story. My husband is Persian and we felt no "attitude" as noted by another reviewer. I will admit that "Grandma" was not the warmest but her husband and the young waitress we had were delightful. Prices are a little high but it's the same everywhere. Don't miss the lovely garden out back too!

  • Elsie W.

Great place for whole lobster dinners. The only downside was they have inconsistent closing time, depending on the crowd. We came here one night and liked it so much we brought 4 other friends here the next night around the same time and they said "sorry we're closed... we always close at this time," even though there were people still eating in there. So sad. Really wanted to give them more business!

  • Stella K.

The decor IS totally tacky, but their steamed lobsters are good value, served with claws cracked and drawn butter. Good clam chowder too. We drove from Bar Harbor to avoid the overly touristy lobster pounds, and I believe we succeeded. We ran into two ladies who recognized us from this place later that evening, and they told us a local acquaintance directed them here. Take that as however you will!

Not really impressed. Accidentally ended up at this place And meant to go to Trenton lobster pound. Overcooked lobster and sister's lobster chowder not great either. Did not enjoy and can't recommend

Not a fan at all. We spent $90 for two hotdog buns with sautéed lobster, 2 very small chowders, 3 burned grilled cheese sandwiches, one burger and some fries (one large order)...and that was with water. Though my husband enjoyed the lobster flavor, it wasn't enough food to fill a man and the $16 price tag made it hard to want to buy more food. The atmosphere wasn't special and seemed more like a chotsky shop than a restaurant. I don't recommend and regret not stopping somewhere else instead.

This place is ... well ... tacky, quirky, over-priced and thoroughly average. I flew my small plane to Bar Harbor yesterday, just for a Lobster Roll. Lunt's is right outside the airport, so that's where I went. You can hardly walk through the place, it's so cluttered with nonsense. Apparently the owner formerly owned a "gift shop and restaurant" across the street. When that one went out of business, she moved all the junk to this restaurant. Christmas ornaments, Beanie Babies and unidentifiable junk was hanging from every surface in the building. The service was mostly non-existent. The Lobster Roll was tasteless and the roll wasn't grilled. The french fries were the frozen, "processed fries" and made me yearn for a Burger King fry ... a scary thought. The corn on the cob wasn't edible. How can you mess up corn on the cob? They figured out a way. The total tab for 2 lobster rolls, a small french fry, an ear of corn and 2 sodas, was about $40, before tip. I get better lobster rolls at my home in Florida and at less than 1/2 that price. A restaurant to avoid.

Maine home cooking at its finest! Maybe it was the wood burning boiler out front, or the exceptionally friendly service, but this place on our visit was the best overall restaurant experience in Acadia. The chowder and the bisque/stew were the best I've had in Maine, the lobster was tender and sweet. Blueberry Crumble with Ice Cream was unforgettable and delicious. Value: (4.5.5) Food: (4.5/5) Service (5/5) Atmosphere: (4.5/5)

Lobster roll is tasty, but not meat packed. Onion rings were very good. Pie was great with tasty Maine blueberries.

They opened for 11 am but allowed us in for a table at 10:45 am. Friendly staff and fast service. Local draft beer at $4 which was a great price. Clam chowder was tasty and not chewy but not hot enough. Lobster was hot and served with a lot of butter on the side but a little chewy and not the best we had while visiting ME. Local draft beer, small clam chowder, and a lobster with butter came to $30 with tax and tip not included. Somewhat pricy compared to other lobster pounds we visited in the area. Their backyard garden area was very nice. Gateway Lunts is worth a visit

This place is a ripoff off between the crappy service and food. I get to listen to the owner bitch about how much she pays in credit card fees each month as I use my credit card. This is definitely a tourist trap. Keep driving another 30 minutes and go to Thurston's lobster pound.

This place was on our way so figured why not have lobster one last time before leaving Maine. Granted that the lobsters were very cheap here, however the quality wasn't that fresh. I'd opt to try out other lobster joints in the area. Still it's not a bad deal for the price.

We travel a lot and have hit several lobster places this week. By far, this one was the best...great tasting steamers, sweet lobster, excellent chowder and very tasty scallops, that were not drenched in grease as in most places. Dessert of blueberry pie was the best that we had in Maine.

Great lobster and great price ! No fuss ! just good lobster at $3.99/lbs and great seafood. We went back to the place especially for the lobster 3 times. One day after another each time it was fresh and delicious. The chowder is really good, the clams are big and the haddock melt in your mouth. The weather was perfect for eating outside and enjoying the quiet garden behind the place. There is tables inside .The service is very friendly . We were able to take home 10 live lobster (soft shell )home in a cooler . 24h later they were still alive and ready to be steamed. A real feast. Great quality. The only problem is that when you need to go to the restroom you have to wait . Only one clean restroom for the customers.
