We had the Mediterranean salad with the sirloin tips and they were perfect. As well as a barbecued chicken and brisket combo delicious. Terri was our waitress and she was extremely attentive.

Started off with the pretzels. They were incredible, the dip compliments the pretzel. I ordered the brisket sandwich it was solid. Great place to eat and relax.

Really liked this place a lot! First time visiting and found the service, food and atmosphere very nice. The beer sampler is an awesome deal, eight beers for 9 bucks, your choice. I had the fried haddock sandwich and wanted to order another one, hide in the corner and inhale it! One of the best I have had in a while and I love me a haddock samich! Logan was an awesome server, very attentive, knew my son wanted a soda before he even had a chance to ask! Stop on in you won't be disappointed!

Got the stuffed haddock, an export, and an old thumper. Taps were definitely suspect; no carbonation on either beers. As a brew pub I feel this is unacceptable. I informed our server who was apologetic, no attempt to remedy the issue wasted. My opinion: the bartender should have caught this. My haddock came served in a whole casserole of butter. The crab filling was floury and soaked by the butter. The haddock itself was fresh, but invisible in the presentation. As there were issues with the beer, service, and food I would say the root cause is management.

This was a weird experience - would give it 3.5 stars if that was possible. First off, the food was good. I had calamari and pasta. I had the Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA to drink. What was weird about this was that this restaurant is apparently owned by Shipyard, but the waitress couldn't tell me anything about the beer (I wanted their most hoppy IPA) Also, I had to ask a few times before getting my beer, and they ran out of menus (weird, eh!)... and many of the items on the menu were no longer available because the menu was old and they had not printed new ones (like I said, weird). Nonetheless, the food was tasty and the waitress was friendly. My guess is that management doesn't have their act together. This could be a great place if it's run well.

I was conflicted on whether to give the Shipyard Brew Pub a try for dinner last night. On one hand several of the guys at the Navy Yard had recommended it as a good place for Happy Hour with decent food. On the other hand the Yelp reviews were hammering it, primarily for poor service. In the end I decided to give it a shot for 2 reason, 1. I really like the Shipyard Beers and 2. I took the recommendation of people I know over those I don't, sorry Yelpers... My coworker and I got to the Pub fairly early, and found the bar to be pretty crowded. Crowded enough in fact that we decided to sit in the dining area, which was completely empty when we first sat down. It did fill up as during our meal. Our waitress, Lindsay, was right over to take our drink order. She was attentive and friendly throughout the dinner. Granted at first we were her only table, making it pretty easy, but she handled us well as the dining area filled up. We had no issues with the service as mentioned in several of the other reviews. For food we split an order of the Nachos with beef chili. The Nacho order was a good size and loaded with toppings. It probably skewed a little to far on the chip to topping ratio which forced us to the forks when we ran out of solid chips. The menu is full of standard pub food. As a Philly Cheesesteak connoisseur I decided to try their steak & cheese sandwich to see how it compared to the cheesesteak I know and love. The sandwich was overflowing with meat and topped with peppers, onions and mushrooms. The flavor of the meat was really good, but hadn't been cooked with the toppings all mixed in distributing the flavor like a cheesesteak. Instead it seemed like the toppings we put on top at the end. Regardless, it was a good sandwich and I was fully satisfied. Finally, it's a brew pub so I had several of their beers. My favorite was the Summer Ale. The Export Ale was also good, while I found the Fuggles IPA to be too hoppy for my tastes. Fuggles was my favorite one to order though ... In conclusion, maybe they've gotten better with their staff, maybe I hit a good night, or maybe Lindsay is a good waitress in a sea of crappy ones. But for me the Shipyard Brew Pub was perfectly fine. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I was a little wary of this place because of the negative reviews, but am so glad we tried it! Took my husband and parents for a casual dinner. My dad is a huge fan of Shipyard beer and the waitress walked him through a drink sampler - which he loved! I had the fried haddock sandwich and sweet potato fries.... YUM! The perfect portion and well priced. We had four meals and drinks for $60!

nice interior and a good place for a beer but the food has slipped, the steak and cheese was small and very greasy I didn't even eat half of it

After reading the reviews on Yelp I thought "It can't be that bad on service. Who knows maybe its ran by someone else now." If you are having the same thoughts, believe me when I say, the reviews are 100% accurate. The food is really good and of course the beer is great as well. What was leads me to leave a negative review was the service. The server was more interested in talking to some girls at the bar, then being a waiter. I understand sometimes it gets busy in pubs/restaurants sure, but it was not busy at all. To stand there and flirt with the girls for 10+ minutes, without even asking if i'd like another beer or if my fiance would like another water, is annoying at best. Nevermind the people at another table had to go up and ask for more drinks while said waiter was joking around with the patrons at the bar. Well I won't be back, but hey, it looks like I'm not the only one... Good luck, maybe you'll have better luck then the other 6 or 7 other people that left reviews here too. I was expecting a better experience with the Shipyard name on it, and sadly disappointed.

The atmosphere is standard pub. Really slow kitchen. Good food. I had the grilled veggie salad. Nice and fresh. Veggies charcoal grilled. Nice. Spouse had blackened fish. Very good. Fries were good. Generous but not crazy portion. Beer is surely the best part. We were there during a really slow time. Good thing. Waitress was fine.

I spent the summer working up the street from the Shipyard and was a frequent patron....not because of the stellar service or delicious food (it has neither), but because it was one of the few places open in the area. Frequently needing to order food for 10-12 people for take out service, they refused to assist me in marking the containers or in any way organizing the meals for easy distribution. When I tried to approach the manager about the problem, i left several messages that went unreturned on their answering machine. The same lack of service goes for dine in. The service staff is inattentive and the manager just sits behind the bar. It's because of this poor service that I give them the one star. The food isn't terrible, especially for the neighborhood but if you aren't going to be treated to decent service, what's the point?

The service can be hit or miss depending on when you go, but the food is great and there's good beer on tap. The pulled pork sandwich is the best thing on the menu, don't skip it!

I won't go back to this place. Our group had to clear every glass we ordered when they were empty and also had to go up to the bar and order every drink. Beer wasn't great either. Not a problem, but then the bartender actually had the nerve to comment about the tip being "low" while walking by. Really? Muttering on your way by about a perfectly standard tip? Learn some customer service skills. I won't recommend this place to anyone ever due to the service received on a couple of occasions. It's too bad, because it's a great location. There is no reason to have an additude. Be professional.

Was visiting Kittery so decided to try here for lunch. Beer is shipyard (no surprise there) and the place was smallish with an outside area for the warmer weather. It was Me restaurant week so we decided to go for the week specials, bacon wrapped scallops very good, fried clams very good, shrimp scampi ok, strip steak good, deserts very good...the place got quite busy after we came in and there was onloy one waitress/bartendress on duty so she was very busy, even with a table of 8 with separate checks, she did a good job handling the rush, beer was good............

I guess that I was happier than most. Not up to the Kennebunkport location, but the beer was the same and the menu, although more limited, was fine. They didn't need the TVs and the soft rock but kudos for being happy to substitute broccoli for fries. The stout was every bit as good as Guiness.

I went to the brew pub for a private party and I didn't try any food. The server who worked the room was unfriendly, the atmosphere wasn't particularly interesting, and the beer was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if someone else suggested it, I'd be willing to try it again just in case I was there on an off night.

The food was TERRIBLE. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was way under seasoned and rubbery. We then received our entrees and my husband's cole slaw was spoiled. He immediately spit it out and I smelled it, it smelled like rotten vegetables. His fish and chips were frozen (only 5 miles from the ocean) and when we mentioned about the cole slaw the server got an attitude with us. The table next to us had to send back their food as well. The service was incredibly slow. We will not be back again.

Ever since the brew pub has changed managers and the kitchen had some changes this place has gone to crap! I used to stop in probably monthly and they would have a fun atmosphere and good food now everything I have had on the past few trips has been terrible. Everything tastes frozen and the service was terrible the last time a group of us went only 4 of us and there were not many people there yet still had to go to the bar and order drinks while our waitress was texting on her phone at the server station. We will not be going back there again and it is to bad because it used to be a great spot to stop while on the way home from work.

Driving home from a weekend camping trip in Maine we found this place with the AroundMe app and decided to give it a shot considering I have had excellent luck with brew pubs in the past. The atmosphere was pretty standard for a bar, and the tables had Trivial Pursuit sets, which was nice. I was happy to see a decent rotation of Shipyard beers on tap (even though I have never been impressed with any of their beers, but that's a different story), and the price for a pint was soooo cheap compared to prices in Boston. That is likely due from it being in Maine, but I'll give them credit anyways. The food was fine, but for a so-called brew pub I would have liked to see them incorporate the beer into the foods more. Call me crazy, but when I go to a brew pub I expect beer to be the main feature, not just something that is monopolized by the brewery at the tap.

I'm surprised by the negative reviews - we had a great experience and would definitely return without a second thought. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious....started with an order of fried calamari and the batter was light and yummy. I went with the lobster mac and cheese and it was out of this world. The owner was behind the bar and was outgoing and friendly. The beer was fantastic, and we left with a couple of Growlers...and then came back the next day and got some more! Would definitely recommend.

The Brew Pub features the fine collection of beer brewed for the Shipyard company of Portland, ME. The beer is always fresh and current with the unique variety of seasonal flavors from the Shipyard. Personal recommendation: Export Ale. The menu is essentially pub food: selection of wraps, sandwiches, burgers and traditional American pub fare. Decently priced: appetizers run anywhere from $4-$10, sandwiches are $7-$9, burgers $6-$8, and steak dinners $15+. The establishment can be hit or miss during happy hour, which is Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm. There may or may not be a crowd in this modestly sized venue. There are several flat-screen TVs for sports fans, although in the absence of a major sporting event the televisions are normally on, but without sound.
