We have been to the Phat Boys Diner twice now and had excellent experiences both times. While it is generally a typical diner, some of the highlights we liked include: - Fresh cream for coffee (not little plastic creamers; we hate those) - Choice of artificial sweeteners (Sweet&Lo / Equal / Splenda) - Novelty coffee mugs (they're cute and unique for a diner) - High-speed wi-fi Internet access - Excellent bread (Block & Barrel from Sysco) - Choice of Home fries or hash browns (most places offer only one) As you can see, coffee is a big part of the diner experience for us. The food was excellent, menu selection is plentiful, portions are generous. The only drawback we can think of is perhaps a lack of healthy option on the menu (but this is called Phat Boys after all, isn't it?) I can personally vouch for both the meat lovers' omelette and the French toast (As you can see I was personally not distraught by the lack of healthy options.) We were very pleased and will definitely go again!

I've been here a couple times now for the weekend buffet. The first time I visited it was very good, food was hot, fresh and tasty. Service was a little slower than I would like but could be overlooked by the quality of food. You are probably asking yourself, why two stars if so good. Well folks that brings us to tonight's meal. We were celebrating Father's Day and my fiancée birthday and called four days ahead to reserve a table. They were excited to know that we had chosen them to celebrate both special occasions. Our party arrived at 5:15 and we go in to find that our table had been taken. We get sat in another area of the restaurant, also known as four feet from the front door. We are greeted at their normal leisurely pace to get drink orders, and proceed to the buffet, excited to see what this weeks options will be. We open the lids to each pan and begin to get exponentially disappointed with each unveiling. Dried up chicken or shoe leather, not sure which. A bbq steak dish that might had been a chew toy for a bull dog. After expressing our displeasure, the chef came out to apologize for his and this is in his words "crappy food." We found out that the food being served was from an earlier catering event. Let me repeat the food we were paying top dollar for and in celebration to two events were their left overs. Will not return to this place to celebrate another event, eat a normal dinner or even to pick up another chew toy for my dog.

We had to wait to find a seat so the busboy (who looked like the hardest working employee there) cleaned a table for us. We waited a very long time to be serviced. Our poor waitress (who was nice but very busy) had her hands full. Another waitress, who seemed like she was there only to socialize, walked by our table probably four times. The last time she could tell by the look in our eyes that my boyfriend and I were desperate. She came over and said our waitress would be with us soon. Hmm. We did finally get our coffee and orders in. About a half hour later our breakfasts were served. Incorrectly. My boyfriend's omelet looked like a flattened, pancake egg folded in half with plain, RAW veggies in the center. The corned beef hash was disappointing as was my scrambled eggs with an American Singles thrown on top. Coffee was yummy and refilled frequently. Two stars because of that and our waitress was super busy-because apparently she was the only one working that day. This was a Sunday morning, 10:30am-ish, but they should have had more help staffed.

Large tasty omelet with bacon, steak and feta cheese. Cooked perfectly. Even had my first gluten free English muffin that I actually liked. Why 3 stars? Because the coffee was too weak! That's unacceptable.

Standard comfort food. The haddock sandwich is the worst I have ever had, dry and tasteless. Slow service, but nice people.

We stopped in for lunch. Great restaurant. The service was excellent - very friendly but professional. I am a big coffee drinker and never ran out. Each day of the week seems to have a menu special. Friday is a BBQ buffet which sounds wonderful. We each had the Pulled Pork sandwich. The portions were Large. The pork was absolutely delicious - small chunks of very tender pork with cole slaw and cheese. The cole slaw is very unusual and tasty. The barbeque sauce is homemade, very flavorful. The buns seemed home or local made and were a nice change from the typical grocery store breads. There is a dessert menu but we were too filled up after the pork. Next time. We definitely will be back for the great-sounding breakfast menu items. Prices are very reasonable. All in all, a go to restaurant outside of the Portland rush

Horrible service. This was the third time I went here and each time the service was worse and worse. Each time the service has been very slow. Last time I was in the cook and waitress stepped outside and it was clear my breakfast was put on hold for their 10 min break. French toast shouldn't take 25 min. This time I went in and waited 15 min before my order was taken and other tables that arrived after me had their orders taken first. In my past experience the food is not that good to put up with that kind of customer service. Will not be back.

This is a real treat for value and excellent food. We went to Phat Boys for lunch and the chicken fingers and homemade potato chips were excellent, as were the sandwiches. One of our party loves liver and onions (not me) and he RAVED about how this was the best he had ever had. This is definitely worth the visit.
