We Brooklynites can be pretty snobby about our culinary opinions due to the proximity of great food and coffee and YET ! Zoot makes a better macchiato than any coffee bar in our city neighborhoods. And the Iced Cafe Forte - Oh My ! A delicious swirling glassful of icy goodness Not living near Zoot is a deprivation....I miss it even more than lobster !

When I'm in Camden, and I'm in Camden a lot, I go to Zoot for my Americano. It's probably the best Americano I've had in the states. My favorite has to be their iced Americano in the summer, takes me back to high school. Anyhoo their espresso is fantastic quality and their prices don't gouge your pockets too bad (despite what some folks are saying on here...). At times I've thought they were a little rude and passive aggressive BUT I'll say it again, best Americano. They don't have a huge selection for breakfast, however they do offer quiche sometimes and baked goods. They have a toast option with fancy spreads which runs a little steep (4.95 I believe) but it is good.. not sure if it's $5 worth of good, but that depends on how much you value good toast. Definitely come here for a cup of coffee and if you're hungry they have something to nibble on. If you're looking for a sit down meal with a group this probably isn't the best bet. Good for meetings, free wi-fi if you're doing work and if you're just looking to spend some alone time with a good book. They prefer cash and I believe the card minimum is $5.00. If you're feeling like cheating on your diet, get the Mocha Bianca!

Delicious and artfully prepared coffee. Nice setting.

The coffee is excellent. Great vegan and gluten-free options. Top-notch service.

Yes, amazing Cappuccino - it was so good I almost forgot that I bumped into one of my all-time favourite musicians, Ray LaMontagne, who just so happened to be having a Capp here, too! The Scottish owner/barista is a friendly 'loon', as we say, with great customer service and an obvious talent for knowing how to make a good coffee. I don't live nearby but I'll be stopping in here any time I pass by for sure! Cheers.

This place was fantastic! My family has specific tastes--not everyone likes coffee, some like their drinks sweeter, etc. Zoot has something for everyone. The serious coffee drinkers liked the coffee, I loved their hot chocolate, and my mother (who hates coffee and thought their chocolate was too bitter), loved the steamed milk options. The white chocolate mocha was also a favorite. Everything was so good, we kept finding reasons to go back during the week we were in Camden. I wish we had one in NYC!

Coffee was great. I had an iced cafe forte and it definitely got me going. There were two 4 year old children there that felt the need to comment on my red beard which automatically sent me back to grade school where I was picked on for the same reason. I tried to ignore them, but they pushed me pretty hard. Coffee was great though.

The coffee here is tasty. Strong and good. Here's the problem: there are no prices listed anywhere. And this fact really bothers me. Essentially, there are two things that happen: 1) You don't care about what things cost and you can buy them anyway or 2) You have to ask what they cost and the cashier manually plugs them in in order to determine their price. I ordered an iced coffee (which actually turned out to be an iced americano) and it was $2.85. Eeeek! That is pricey. My boyfriend asked about the absence of prices and they told him that it was an "aesthetic decision..." it is illegal not to post prices in New York, partially to prevent against discrimination. Sure sounds like Zoot Coffee is trying to attract a certain "aesthetic" of clientele. Additionally, the cashiers were very young and unprofessional. I kept hearing squealing and shouting the entire time I was there.

While on vacation in Camden, visited several times. First off no prices listed. That is disturbing. Had an amazing cafe aulait the first day. Next day totally different experience probably because had a different barista. Ordered the brown rice gluten free muffin because it was so heavily endorsed by the barista. One bite in and blech! it was so hard and dry and just crumbled all over the table. Line was out the door and I actually waited in it to return the sorry excuse for a muffin. When I handed it over to the barista and told her my opinion and that I wanted my money back, this is what she said, "well you know gluten free baked goods use different ingreds and that you should not expect better", well then don't endorse the darn thing in the first place or better yet just hand over my money with out a snarky comment. Makes it hard to want to ever go back there again!

This place has no prices posted nor do they have a printed menu with prices. The employee had to punch each item into the cash register to determine the price. In most of the US this would be against the law but I assume its OK here in Camden. The coffee was fine but the lack of pricing made me think fondly of Starbucks and that is something that rarely happens.

Best espresso in town, rich, syrupy and smooth but not bitter. The cafe mocha is very good too. The food is very vegan/glucose free, etc. and some recipes don't always work. The blueberry/ginger/poppy seed muffin today was very good.

Very good iced tea, service was relatively quick. I took my drink to go, but it seemed like a cool place to hang out.

Latte is "milk" in Italian, and the barista must have been from Milan because when I got a latte I got a glass of milk tinged with coffee. Maybe it's the Maine take on a machiatto... Speaking of machiattos, it was very sour. We made the mistake of coming back the next day to try americanos, and asked "for here" but got to go cups. We then asked for some glass cups to pour it into (it was hot to hold through the paper) and the glass cups actually smelled like soap. The coffee itself wasn't that great either.

It's the best coffee you'll find in Camden, but a bit on the pricey side. Definitely got the hipster thing going on. They have internet that is relatively speedy for Maine. I will go back if I ever find myself in Camden again.

Awesome coffee shop. If u like star**cks u might have forgotten what a real coffee shop is like. The proprietors are delightful, the coffee properly roasted and delicious and the wifi is fast and free. In short, it is the quintessential local coffee shop and in the age of the uniformly mediocre chain behemoth I celebrate it.

Some of the best espresso I have had, smooth and full, but not bitter. The owner keeps the source a secret and I understand why.

Awesome place

I had to wait 20 minutes for my coffee to cool to the point of only minorly burning my mouth. Speaking of burned, the soy milk in my latte was burned. Fried. Set upon a funeral pyre and sent off from a glorious death to Valhalla. It tasted like ashes and vanilla syrup.

my partner and I are from San Francisco and just stayed in Camden a few days on vacation. we fell in love with this place. the coffee is delicious, there is free wi-fi so we could work, it has great aesthetics, and lovely owners. very inviting. will always remember this as a highlight of our journey through Maine.

I wish I was a coffee aficionado and could grade the product. However, my mocha was decent and the place was clean. Spartan even. It was good, better than a restaurant would make, but honestly, not the same as Starbucks. Maybe that's a good thing for a coffee-lover? If you're walking in downtown Camden and need coffee, you can't do better.

If you aren't local, this place is a drag. Which is awesome, if you're local and like a cold latte. Free internet. Terrific porridge. Cold Latte. And service. Assigned seating. But no one will tell you directly yet will continue to make passive aggressive remarks even if you offer to change seats multiple times. I mean I was extremely friendly until they wore me down. the comments are pretty hilarious...at first. too bad. the location is good but there are plenty of better and friendlier options.

A little espresso in the afternoon

Zoot is my Camden office away from the office...a place where I meet clients, have impromptu coffee with friends and steal away to check my email with the free wi-fi. I am a simple coffee drinker (plain cup of joe please) so for my tastes, the coffee is great - but really, it is the all the added benefits that make Zoot a great coffee shop and a "third place" in Camden to be sure.

I only had one thing in mind when I went in here - the restroom. Instead, I didn't just leave relieved, but I left with a strawberry banana smoothie and a frosted cupcake. The smoothie was clean, healthy and refreshing. The cupcake was the exact opposite of the smoothie, but in a good way. It felt like I was biting into an extremely rich, soft, buttery cake and the frosting was equally delicious. I wanted to nap from satisfaction, but I had to keep driving sadly. Great clean bathroom by the way guys.

I like coming to Zoot for the local flavor. It is always busy and the walls rotate local art. The owner keeps the place super clean and the employees are delightful. The coffee is generally good, but even better if you are lucky enough to have Isaiah brew it! Other perks: wifi, good music, local, mostly organic food Downsides: sometimes the owner does not keep up with stocking basics like vanilla, a little more expensive than some other options in town

I've been to this coffee shop a few times while in Camden. They have great soy lattes and an amazing vegan poppy seed muffin!

Best coffee shop I've encountered in Maine thus far.

Crashed out from four hours in the car and rapidly waning caffeine levels, we stopped here with low expectations and high need for coffee. We stepped in and WHOAH! there was a huge line and only a single barista behind the counter, carefully filling every order. While we waited for service we looked at some of the lovely hand-thrown mugs and cups made by a local artist, some of the collage art on the walls, and took a well-needed pit stop, where local posters advertising rock star camp made us laugh ("your audience is waiting!!!") The coffee was very good. They don't roast it themselves but they do know their way around an espresso machine and put some lovely drinks in our hands and in our bellies. The space, airy and bright with windows looking east, is a great place to spend a few hours and read the paper. One of the regulars had his gorgeous dog with him, sitting at his feet quietly. Any cafe that lets customers bring their dogs inside is okay by me.

Got a latte and had to wait 15 minutes for it to cool down to a drinkable temperature. When I finally took a sip, both the coffee and milk were VERY burnt. Cute shop, but any good barista knows how to heat milk to a correct temperature. Disappointing.

When we are staying with the family, Andy needs his java fix filled better than mom's Mr. Coffee can do. We usually trek here. A bit pricey and a bit crunchy hippie, but gets the job done, I suppose.

I'm a big coffee aficionado and this place serves some if the best in the US. But even if you're just looking for some tea and sympathy this is a perfect spot.

My wife and I visited this place on our way to Camden Hill SP. In need of coffee and a bathroom this place certainly provided. The espresso drinks were great, the atmosphere was fantastic, but I'm afraid that I can't slap on the 5-star review that everyone else here has done for one reason... the coffee. Now I'm sure that it could have been an off day, and I WILL give them another chance when we're back in town, but the coffee was horribly brewed. It was as weak and bland. I sat down with my coffee and took the first sip I wondered if I was drinking a cup of earl grey. ugh, what a disappointment. I'll be back to give them another whirl though.

Same small town - Big Coffee Taste Good espresso drinks. Good service. And they pass the acid test of coffee bars; consistency. Different days - different baristas - consistent taste.

Excellent latte and very prompt and friendly service.

This a small shop on the part of Route 1 though Camden that's called Elm. I think it's new since we were last here. After walking around town for a while I sat in the park across the street and watched traffic pass by on Route 1 while Alan explored a bit more. The day was warm and lovely and it was nice to find a bench in the shade. There must be a geriatric biker dude gathering here this w/e because there were lots of 'em revving their engines. Cool. Behind the bench where I sat there's a new Veterans Memorial that was dedicated last year, a simple, massive granite slab engraved w/ the names of Camden's war dead over the decades. They lost a lot of men during WWII, a lot for a small town. When Alan rejoined me he suggested an iced tea, so we crossed the street to Zoot. It's a clean and airy spot w/ wifi, coffee, tea, bakery goods and freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. Those totally eclipsed the iced tea. Alan ordered a blueberry/banana smoothie and I ordered carrot juice. I watched her juice the carrots, large sweet ones. I had a tall glass. It was incredibly sweet and good. We bought a scone and a piece of banana bread for breakfast tomorrow w/ our fresh fruit. Alan has taken to teasing me about peanut butter and English muffins. We took our drinks back to the park and drank them as we watched the traffic pass. Thanks also to Zoot for posting the little news clipping about the jazz show on the local public radio station, 93.3. We were getting mighty tired of the oldies countdown on the car radio.

Was introduced to this place by family friends and was very impressed. Fantastic homemade quiche, muffins - great service, great coffee. Live music and the occasional film showing as well. Easy to get to; if you're driving through Camden, you won't miss it.
