Suffering from cabin fever, we chose this place on a whim. We had an excellent dinner. I had a Reuben and hand cut fries. My husband (gluten free/dairy free) had the scallops and bacon. The food was delicious. They had live music tonight that was not too loud. We could visit with our friends and still hold a reasonable conversation. The music was very enjoyable. The atmosphere was contemporary and fresh. I recommend this place for a night out. I'll be returning.

Meeting the cousins again for drinks and chatting. the bar was packed so we were seated in the main cafe area. Our waitress, Valerie, was so fantastic. She is funny, spunky has kind of an attitude and was very service oriented. NOt all sweet and phony. I mean, even though the place was busy, it wasn't about putting drinks in our hands or food in front of us quikly, she took the time to chat and let us know that we were more then just customers in a bar. My hubby always jokes around with staff, so she held her own against his strange sense of humor. the bartender couldn't make a Moscow Mule for me cause they dont have Ginger Beer. So , I invented a drink and called it the Coast Kicker. It is ginger ale, ginger liquer, Kettle One Vodka and lime. Not bad, came out ok. Ryan the bartender, did a nice job. Everyone was happy. It s nice cause some waitresses are waiting for the big tip for the big meal and dont care to serve the folks who just want dessert and drinks, but Valerie (I keep wanting to call her Mallory) was just as happy to serve us no matter what we wanted. Nice to hear of my cousins trip to Europe and Valerie joined us for a moment and talked travel and kids. Ya know, I love going to the Coast Bistro every time I am in Maine. See you soon!

Thus place was good the first time, then it just want happening for me. The mood changed. Everyone is always doing other things than bartendeing. The live music was a nice touch, and there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm over the new chef. Then, suddenly, every dish I ordered was sub par. The potential is there, someone just has to commit to quality.

If you know a bit about Brunswick, you know the former Daniel Stone Inn sits on site of what was one of the first dwellings in the town (a log cabin), along the banks of the Androscoggin. The building where the new and improved, The Daniel, was built in 1819. History, history, history--enough with the history lesson, get to the freakin' food! Here's what you need to know in today's Twitter-instant world-- Coast Bar + Bistro is a nice addition to what was a formerly dowdy inn and restaurant property. Better, it adds another option for a drink/appetizer/after-work place in a town that's short on those kinds of places. Brunswick isn't Portland, doesn't have a Blog/Food Map that announces the new restaurant that opens every other week. In Brunswick, when a place like Coast Bar + Bistro opens, you find out about it driving by the building on Coastal Route 1, when the owners decide to put up a sign (a year after opening!). That's how we roll out in the 'burbs. That said, the bar is fun, the regular bartender, DJ, is a hoot and character in the best sense of the terms. Born in Dublin, and whisked away to the woods of western Maine when he was 7, he'll make whatever amount of time you spend at the bistro and bar, memorable. More important for many, he also will whip up practically anything you want to drink. We were there on Tuesday night during Happy Hour (reduced prices on drinks and appetizer specials). It was slow. On Friday and Saturday nights, the place supposedly gets hopping with live entertainment. The beer selection was just okay. Gritty's Black Fly and Pemaquid Ale on tap for Maine beers and the ubiquitous Sam Adams tap (Winter Lager) were the draft selections worth mentioning. The cocktails looked pretty damn good and my better half let me sip her ginger-infused martini, which was excellent. Coast Bar + Bistro does comfort food with a twist. An example was the beef pot pie that my wife and her sister had. I should have opted for this, also. It came out piping hot in a crock-style dish filled with basically a hearty beef stew, covered with a nice pastry topping. It was rich, with a nice blend of vegetables, a flavorful stew-like gravy, and the crust was flaky perfect (based on two tastes offered up by my honey). My blackened haddock sandwich was disappointing. The tagline here (and pretty much every place these days except the chainers) is locally-sourced items, so I'm almost positive my fish was local. The fact that I'm wondering is a concern and that it was underwhelming, both flavor-wise, and it just didn't hold together on the bun like I prefer it too, diminished my initial experience a tad.The aioli was pretty much non-existent, also. The accompanying hand-cut fries were a bit limp for my liking. So on the food front, we were 2 out of 3. I should have gone with the special, or the burger, which I've heard is very good, or a panini sandwich. While I could have docked it based only on my own dish, it's obvious the kitchen is trying to make it work. The owners have hired a bartender that gets what makes the best bartenders great and lets him do his thing. The space is warm and welcoming (big ole' fireplace smack dab in the middle of a large room). Plus, I'm a sucker for history, outlier restaurants, and eating out in places other than Portland, so four stars it is. I'll definitely be back. If passing through, or if you live in the area, definitely check this place out.

Went in with high hopes and left very underwhelmed. Atmosphere: The physical setting was nice but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Felt touristy. A nice hearth with a fireplace (gas :/ ) separates the bar area and the dining area. Unfortunately, the progressive rock was turned up way louder than necessary for the small space and what I had assumed was a classy dining spot. Food: Breadbasket - bread was still cold from the fridge and the butter was rockhard Salad - Cesear salad was too cold and had sparse dressing that was pasty with tons of anchovies lobbed on top to validate the price. Steak Frites - Only good thing was the steak was cooked to order and all in all not a bad piece of meat. The rest was blah Stuffed Haddock - No though to plating at all. The veggies we're over done and limp and the fingerling potatoes we're just sad looking, The main dishwas okay but didn't taste quality. Service: Prompt and friendly if not a little too in your face. I get that you need to upsell but trying to convince us we must try the blueberry creme brûlée on 3 seperate occasions is too much. Walked away very disappointed for the $100 we spent on dinner for 2. I might go in for happy hour or a beer but never for a nice dinner again.

We were here for New Year's Eve, making reservations very last minute but were excited when they could seat a party of 4 at 6:30 on short notice. We didn't realize there was a pre-fixe dinner set-up with live entertainment, and both were great! They set it up as appetizer (choice of salad, vichyssoise, or something with meat that I can't remember), entree (steak I think?, haddock, or pasta primavera), and dessert (chocolate cake vs. cheesecake). It was a good menu I thought and I appreciated that there were vegetarian options. The 4-star rather than 5-star rating is really for 2 reasons: 1. The food was a little under-seasoned - maybe the kitchen errs on the side of caution but both my soup and pasta just needed a touch of salt. This was voiced by a couple of people at our table. (Also, the pasta to vegetable ratio on the primavera was a little off -- more veggies would have been welcome.) 2. The service was slow. Take this with a grain of salt because it was New Years and it's possible someone called in sick, but it took 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks and it was a 30 minute wait between appetizer and entree. It looked a little chaotic to be honest - we wouldn't see anyone for 15 minutes and then I would look over and 4 people were behind the bar when there was only 1 bartender. That being said, we did enjoy our experience and will certainly give it another try on a less busy night. We all loved what they did with the decor - it looks like they took down a wall to open it up a bit and did some redecorating. I could see this becoming a hot happy hour location once the weather gets a little warmer!

The drinks are wonderful, if you have 45 minutes for each of them. The service was extremely slow, we did give our server the benefit of the doubt as the place filled up quickly. However, waiting 20 minutes for water is unacceptable. I had a pizza with mashed potatoes and pork belly on top. It was terrible, even with salt and pepper I decided to pass as it was dry, bland and not worth the calories. The reason I give it 2 stars is one of my dinner mates had a burger and I tried a bite. The burger was wonderful, juicy and cooked perfectly, the burger was so good it made me sad to look down at the pile of yuck in front of me. Another diner with me had the crab cakes and she said they were pretty tasty. Back to the service, we waited for our first round of drinks for 20 minutes and had either finished our meals or stopped eating them because they were not good 45 minutes after requesting the second round before they arrived, another server actually brought them because ours was MIA for so long. We had to flag down our server for the check, water(Still waited another 20 minutes for her to return with it) and we're never asked how our meals were until those with decent food were done. If it wasn't for the terrible service I'd go back to try something different on the menu because I think there is potential. The atmosphere is lovely and I'm so torn writing this review because I really wanted to love it but still only 2 stars because the service and my meal were that bad.

Great food, great service. Sat at the bar and Tom had great drinks and suggestions. Ask him for a vermouth special, he has a ton of them.

The artisan pizza we tried here was good, but not necessarily any better than what you could get at a Brixx or somewhere similar. The environment was very cozy and romantic with several fireplaces and soft music - very enjoyable. The waiter we had seemed inexperienced... we had several awkward interactions with him, and alternated between wondering where he was and asking him to return later when he followed up too fast...

My wife and I have visited No 10 Water several times for dinner, each time was a very nice experience. The atmosphere in either the bar or the dining room is quiet with a hint of romance highlighted bar a two sided fireplace. We have always enjoyed both our appetizers and main courses, alway choosing seafood which was very fresh as you would expect at a Maine restraunt. Whether you are looking for an fabulous meal or a quiet little bar for a glass of wine, visit No 10 Water at the Daniel Stone Inn as you will not be disappointed.

Dec 31st. We had the New Year Eve concert Dinner by Ray DeMarco at No.10 Water. French, but non fat, low sodium, organic, French, enjoying the food itself taste. Super high-end looking wedding hotel atmosphier at the entrance. Restaurant had a fire place, couch, and bar,,, and we seated by the Fire Place and beautiful Christmas tree. Thanks to garson who changed our seats to by the fire place. For us, food tasted too healthy, due to low sodium, organic, and low fat....Lobster bisque was not creamy, more soupy..But all other clients must have enjoyed. Because all the clients were great grandma and grandpa age group and we were the youngest there. But we loved the atmosphere of the restaurant very much, because older generation people with beautiful jewelries and dresses. Grandpa and grandma were dancing with the music, many couples are holding their hands,,,sooo sweets, heart warming... The management lady was just look like Jody Foster. I will upload my picture when I get back to Hawaii. The new year courses were priced around $49 to $69/ person. My glass of wine which was around $9, recommended by Ali was "MASCART" very sweet tasty wine. It was good!! I did not want to cook on that night, because I was catching cold from my husband. So, this was very good new year eve dinner. The most Romantic & high-end atmosphier fine dining restaurants in Brunswick.
