A good place to stop in for a lunch or breakfast. A good variety of sandwich's hot and cold. A line during lunch but haven't had much trouble getting in and out in reasonable time.

The perfect hangover place or weekend lunch place. I go there 3-4 times a month. I always order the barnum (pumpernickel, swiss (I think), thousand island dressing, coleslaw and turkey.) Either that or the veggie melt. Comes with a bag of chips and a pickle. Always packed during the lunch hour on weekends...they recently opened up for dinner on certain nights. It's one of those places where you find your favourite sandwich, and it's just so hard to let go and try a new one. Favorites seem to be the Hoax, Goose, Trailblazer. They also have a small counter for meats and cheeses for takeaway.

Big city style deli in a small town. Ate here after years of hearing good things. Had a delicious chicken sandwich on a toasted french roll. Everything was wonderfully fresh and very satisfying. I would rave more on how good the food was but it was after all just a chicken sandwich. It was like you ought to be able to expect but really cannot since so few delis seem to care. They really seems to care. Only downside is that it was a bit pricey by Maine standards. Though one generally gets what they pay for.

I still don't see what's so great about this place. It prices are a little much considering the quailty.

This place is excellent. Fun decor, great food, and great variety. Lots of different kinds of cheeses. Never a long wait. Just all around great sandwiches.

This place turns out a really great deli sandwich. If you are shopping in downtown brunswick, definately definately stop in here for a delicious lunch.

The sandwiches here are deLIcious!! I got a veggie one and I thought it was one of the better veggie sandwiches I'd had a long time. A great blend of veggies and lite dressing (it was a cucumber dressing if that helps identify the sandwich). The pickle was awesome as well. Would definitely recommend this place. The Bowdoin-ite bf has fond memories of this place and I can see why...it's amazing.

Oh man, I love, love, love The Big Top Deli. I usually go there for the sandwiches, but their pizza and breakfast aren't bad either. Although some of the decor is a little creepy (It's all circus-themed, so there are plenty of clowns), the food more than makes up for it. The staff there is also super friendly and welcoming. It's definitely worth a visit.

five stars for sure. this is the go to place for a deli sandwich when in brunswick. when i lived in boston, i often contemplated driving up simply to grab a sandwich. when i ate meat, i loved making a honey-mustard turkey sandwich on toasted wheat bread with lettuce, tomato, and sprouts. now i am more into the veggie melt. whatever your craving, big top delivers BIG TIME. every sandwich comes with chips, a tasty pickle, and supreme service. Y-U-M!

I love the Big Top and make it a point to visit each time I'm in Maine. The veggie and avocado sandwich with dill dressing on wheat bread is particularly wonderful. The food is consistently great and the counter service is always cheerful.

so so good. big top never disappoints, and is comforting in that while it might expand and get a bit flashier looking, and while the potato chips may change from ridged in plastic baggies to individual bags of utz brand, the sandwiches and staff remain the same. suggestion: get the 'rameywich' - an avocadowich with smoked turkey and parmesan peppercorn dressing - so good every time. my other favorite is the tightrope. hmm time to book a trip back to maine ...

I am definitely a fan of Big Top. Through four years at Bowdoin, especially on Saturdays and Sundays when the Pub was closed until dinner, Big Top was my brunch-time staple. Even trips to Maine where good old Bwick wasn't the destination, it was often a detour just so I could get a Goose. Yummy! I recommend any of the sandwiches with avocado (Tom Thumb on a bagel, avocadowich, Goose) or just add avocado to any sandwich since its only a dollar extra--bargain !! Breakfast sandwiches are cheap too (although that was pre-recession so who knows what it costs now). The guys who work there are always super nice, even when its busy, and after not too long knew me and my order-- there's nothing like friendly, personalized service! Points off for being somewhat overpriced and always very crowded at lunch, but don't let that deter you from eating there.

I graduated from Bowdoin in 2001. But Big Top remains one of my top 2 favorite sandwich places anywhere (the other is in Austin, TX). The Hoax sandwich holds a lovely nostalgia for me. I will go out of my way to eat at Big Top if I am anywhere near Brunswick, regardless of what time of day it is. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious (particularly on weekends after a rough night). All the other sandwiches I've had there have been great. Tasty deli for great sandwiches!

Big Top Deli, I hate to give you such low stars! But unfortunately I must. Big Top was a hugeembarrassingjokeofaletdown (did you get all that?) when I took a friend for breakfast one morning. It was Bowdoin Alum weekend, and it was understandably busy and therefor slower than normal. HOWEVER, for our 2 breakfast sandwiches we waited 40 MINUTES. FOURTY. After 20 (what we considered to be a reasonable wait) we tried to get the attention of a deli person to give us our money back, but to no avail. After 30 minutes we finally got someone's attention, and when we told him of our long wait he said "If you ask how long it will take, it will only take us longer:I promise you that. " and when my friend understandably replied with a confused "Um...what?" he replied "I have the power!!!". What?!? We ended up waiting another 10 minutes for our (what turned out to be) soggy English muffins because we were starving and cranky and had paid $8. What a joke. I'll never go here again after such ridiculous antics. Because, well, "I have the power;")

One of the best delis in Maine. One of the only delis in Maine for that matter! Great place to grab a sandwich in downtown Brunswick. Huge menu. They make a great Rueben. The Barnum, kind of a turkey Rueben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut is my favorite sandwich there. Good selection of veggie options as well. Quality boar's head meats and cheeses and good drinks selection including Mexican Coke, the kind in a glass bottle. Gets real crowded at lunch sometimes but they're very fast getting your sandwich made. Have not tried their breakfast food but I've heard it's great.

Best sandwiches in Maine, hands down. Good service and a nice location. Give this place a shot at satisfying your lunchtime sandwich fix. Best sandwich: The Big Top Weakest Sandwich (still good): The Classic Italian Honorable mention sandwiches: cheddar melt Trailblazer Egress Oliphant Nothing terribly fancy happening here, just good sandwiches made fast by nice people. Boar's Head meats utilized. Circus theme is kinda fun.

I'm bumping this up to 5 stars. The HOAX is my favorite, their breaded chicken cutlets are top notch. And they have my favorite the rarely available blueberry root beer! Go on, big top.

I have been on a serious breakfast sandwich kick lately. 'Look at this sandwich!' I have been telling my husband while flashing my iPad and showing him photos of sandwiches. He doesn't seem as enthused as I am....nonetheless, Big Top Deli is a front runner for me thus far in my bfast sandwich quest. I had bacon, egg, cheese on an everything bagel - it was simple and perfect. Toasted bagel, crispy bacon, cheese melted, and a perfectly cooked egg that was ever so slightly runny in the middle. Haven't had other meals of the day there yet but if they are as great at my egg sandwich, I will not hesitate to upgrade to 5 stars. Will be headed back to try lunch and of course repeat breakfast.

A good place run by good people. I got the Egress (breaded chicken breast, provolone cheese, bacon, roasted red peppers on garlic bread). Besides the sandwich not coming on garlic bread but rather just plain French bread, the sandwich was great. Surprisingly filling for just a 7" sub. Downside is that they serve plain Utz potato chips with their sandwiches instead of making their own chips. Also ordering a side of fries is ill-advised. Their fries are thick steak fries, which maybe is just not my preference, and the amount is minimal. However all the meats and cheeses are Boar's Head and fresh sliced. The menu is huge and could please the pickiest sandwich eater (which I happen to be).

Vast array of interesting choices. Breakfast, vegetarian, hot and cold sandwiches, and burgers. The breakfast sandwiches are served all day. On our trip we tried the bacon/egg/cheese breakfast sandwich, the Goose, and a Philly cheesesteak. We were all very happy with our choices. I thought the portions were ample and the prices fair. Service was quick. Most importantly, the food was delicious!

I've tried to love this place, I really have. I've been many times, but I just can't justify giving it more than three stars. Some of the sandwiches are really good (check out the Gobbler), but then there are plenty that just need something more. If you have tried out some of the other great restaurants in town, give it a try. Otherwise, it should not be your first stop in Brunswick.

We come to Maine every fall and we always come to Big Top Deli to eat both breakfast and lunch. We have never had anything bad here. It is all awesome. The owner is always there. His name is Tony very friendly and polite. Only open for breakfast and lunch but so worth the trip. Food is awesome.

I rarely complain about food, but this was the worst lox and bagel I've ever had. The lox weren't fresh and tasted fishy -- a waste of a good bagel.. The server was unfriendly and made no effort to compensate for a bad experience.

I love Big Top Deli! Great selection of sandwiches. Something to please everyone on the menu! Great prices, great service! They use Boars Head Meat and it tastes delicious! The veggies taste okay and most of the time I end up taking them off because they tomatoes taste mealy like they have been frozen. Nevertheless I LOVE LOVE LOVE Big Top! My favorite place to get a sandwich in Brunswick!

My mom had sworn up and down about The Big Top Deli, and she finally took me there so I could experience this cool little spot in downtown Brunswick (which, like Portland, ME, has a tremendous amount of gastronomical options all vying for your money). She insisted that I try the "Avocadowich" with thousand island dressing. Generally, I try not to order things that I could make at home. Because it seems like a waste of money to me, so I was concerned about the "pedestrian-ness" about this sandwich (carrots, tomatoes, avocados, and sprouts with melted cheddar). But... I was actually really impressed. The sandwich was filling, without being "too much." Everything seemed really balanced as far as proportions go, too (in my opinion, if you have too many sprouts on a sandwich, and it's like the only thing you can taste/smell/feel). The price was right and the service was very fast. As far as DELI'S go (folks have to remember that this isn't supposed to be a fine dining experience), I was happy with my entire experience. I would definitely come here again - I'd like to try "The Bailey" (American & Swiss, vegetable cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, sprouts on sub with cucumber dill dip) next, I think. The only gripe I had with them was the lack of vegetarian options. In this day and age, there's no excuse not to have a hearty vegetarian/vegan section, especially in a city where a major college is located. I would have loved to have seen some of the creativity they had with other sandwiches available in their "vegetarian" options, too.

Not a disappointment at all. Some kid at Hannaford recommended us there for a quick bite. Will go there anytime. I also see the breakfast menu too. Great college hangout place!

Great service, had a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and home fries. Perfectly cooked and the wife said the coffe is great. Not the greatest atmosphere but very friendly service.

Been grabbing sandwiches for many years. Consistent, clean, and excellent food. If you r looking for a sandwich, this is the place, downtown brunswick. Still the best sandwich in the bath brunswick area. Love egg sandwiches on hard roll.

We wanted cheap and simple. We pretty much got what we asked for. The husband had the Big Top which was pastrami, cole slaw, thousand island and swiss on toasted wheat (the bread choice is up to you) while I had the chicken salad sandwich on wheat and opted to have them put every veggie they had on it. Because I don't really go in for the tater chips that come with the meal (Utz), we ordered a side of fries which consisted of about two large potatoes cut into wedges and two cans of coke totaling about $20. The sandwiches- John liked his. That's the most he would say about it. I was happy that they weren't stingy with the veggies, although the tomato was light pink at most. However, the chicken salad was quite flavorless. Very bland. I had to keep adding pepper. Guess I'll have to be a little more adventurous next time. The fries weren't bad but they weren't good either. They lacked any kind of crispyness. I always love a cold can of coke on a hot day. I did enjoy the 80's megamix they had playing in the background with theme songs from movies like "The Neverending Story" and "Labyrinth." I could have done without all the kids crying, fighting, running into tables and walls and screaming, but I guess that's less the restaurant's fault and more the parents'. You get what you pay for.

I visited here with coworkers this week and it was a great experience. I had a BLT which came with a pickle (great pickle!) and chips. The ambiance is great with circus memorabilia on the walls and there's a line out the door at lunch. Coworkers had a chef salad, egg sandwich, and tuna melt. The chef salad was huge, and the tuna melt came on English muffins which was perfect. My BLT was classic and well done. The price was right and the owner runs the cash register so you always get that family feel.

The vibe in this sandwich joint was strange from the minute I walked in until the last bite and I can't put my finger on it. The sandwich I got was actually pretty good. New York deli style? Umm no. Just a regular old "Italian"sandwich on warm sub roll. I did devour it. Mostly cause I was ridiculously hungry. I would recommend this place to grab a sandwich.

Sandwiches were very good, but every table was dirty and sticky! There were employees straightening magazines at the doorway stand and chatting at the counter but nobody was WASHING down the tables. That is pretty gross. Clean eating areas should be a priority. And the sodas in the cooler were warm.
