Me and husband visit here last June of 2014. Good food at good price. Love the food truck outside will stop here every time I am in Maine. I stocked up on raw honey and things I don't see to much in the city at these prices. I hope they have that moose next time I visit.

Why on earth anyone would consider going to the Irving for Subway or snacks while the Good Food Store is open across the street is beyond me. I can honestly say I've never had an edible item from here that wasn't fantastic. They've got trail snacks, made in-house, anything from dried apples to raw trail mix. Their sandwiches are full of tasty goodness. The turkey bomb is a personal favorite, the match of which I haven't found in another similar-style sandwich. You can also purchase some other basic necessities, natural products and many gluten-free items for those with dietary issues. The staff is always friendly...I could keep going, but you should really just check it out for yourself if you're in the Bethel area!

Great little natural food store with fresh, homemade baked goods, coffee and tea. Amazing selection of microbrews. The place they keep the wine gets really warm in the summer months which is unfortunate. Other than the wine storage issue, this is a great place! Also, don't forget to grab something delicious from the BBQ in the parking lot! :)

Friends have gotten take out from here for dinner and parties. We've enjoyed the Moroccan chicken and butternut squash lasagna. Highly recommend both.

Heather, Dave and the Good Food Store crew: We can't thank you enough for what an amazing job you did for our wedding at Ski Esta on June 8th! Coming from NY, and not knowing the area, We are so glad we made the right choice for our catering. Everyone is still raving about the fantastic BBQ dinner you provided us on Friday night for our rehearsal dinner, and the amazing buffet on our Big Day (-We enjoyed all the leftovers on Sunday too!).. Your help with coordinating all the last minute needs (cases of wine, gluten-free/vegetarian/vegan needs for our guests, sandwich platter while us girls were getting our hair and makeup done) - everything was just PERFECT. I can't say enough good things about The Good Food Store!!!!! To all the future Bethel/Newry area Brides out there: The Good Food Store is first-rate, professional, classy, and some of THE BEST food I've ever had.

I'm here somewhat often because the Good Food Store shares a parking lot with the excellent "BBQ Bob's Real Pit BBQ" trailer and they are located across the street from the only place in the area that seems to carry both the Boston Globe and Wall St. Journal daily papers (I'm a nerd, sue me...) The main draw for us is the excellent heat-and-serve prepared meals (I think they are made by the same folks who do the catering). We regularly get: - Shepherds pie - Chicken pot pie - Mac & Cheese - Moroccan Chicken Selection varies on any given day, possibly as a reflection of what the catering folks had to cook up that day for clients. All are excellent and a great way to feed a bunch of people if you don't feel like cooking from scratch or hitting an area restaurant. The prepared meals are mostly what we shop for here; they have a wide selection of other stocked items as well including nuts, pastry, frozen foods, breads, beer & wine etc.

I wish I would have found this place on my FIRST day in Bethel...not my last. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else! This is not a full service restaurant, it's a market, and I found the quality of food to be better than anywhere else in Bethel. If you're staying at Sunday River and have a kitchen in your room, stock up at Good Food Store! They do make made-to-order sandwiches on-site. Good things do come in small packages. The store itself is adorable, it has a ton of character. For a small, quaint market, I was very impressed with the selection of local products, bulk items, quality brand packaged items, organic fruit and vegetables, wine, individually bagged nuts, pretzels, chocolates, etc., and fresh, pre-made meals. I had the pork and green chili burrito for lunch (pre-made by the market's chef) holy cow it was delicious! One of those meals where you actually talk to your food because you can't believe how delicious it is! I brought a friend back to the store that same afternoon so he wouldn't miss out on the pork burrito eating experience. Do not miss Good Food Store on your visit to Bethel. Go on your first day in town and stock your refrigerator!

I cannot say enough good things about the Good Food Store! Their store and BBQ may not look special but trust me, the food that comes from inside them most certainly is! We have had the BBQ on multiple occasions and it has always been fantastic! We also had Heather and Dave cater our wedding, rehearsal dinner and another meal we had while in town. Seriously, this is good food! Our guests have not stopped raving about how delicious the food was! They were able to perfectly cook and serve chicken, beef tenderloin and mushroom raviolis. Each of these is tough to cook perfectly in their own right, let alone to be served at the same time and for a large group of people. They were also great to work with throughout the whole process and were open to adding one of our favorite dishes to the menu (chicken piccata - yum!) and cooked it perfectly! We will most certainly have The Good Food Store cater us a meal EVERY time we're in the Bethel area and we'll be back for the BBQ too. Definitely give them a try! And if you need a caterer for an event in the area - look no further! Their professionalism and skills in the kitchen are top notch! They put most restaurants to shame if you ask me.

I always go here for sandwiches. Fresh, tasty, and a very convenient location leaving the mountain to grab a bite. Bbq been there for years, I honestly think the Bbq is its own entity, but a few yelpers say otherwise...whatever the deal is, its all local and great food. The good food store offers plenty of local and new England drinks: the Maine root sodas, Poland spring seltzer water, nantucket nectar, etc. They offer a variety of frozen foods, microbrews, fresh produce, cheese, wines, homemade nuts, my favorite the chocolate, peanut butter, or yogurt covered pretzels (so good), teas, coffees, lake champlain chocolates from Vermont, etc. Good food store also offers many types of cooking ingredients including various Asian condiments. On top of this they offer their own catered meals frozen (up by the drinks, in the front) and homemade chocolate chip, oatmeal, and gingersnap cookies. Plus, another favorite is their pumpkin and cream cheese whoopie pie.....wicked good, trust me, you will think the chocolate whoopie pie is over rated after eating this! So why 3 stars? Their service. I never get great service here. But unfortunately, its something I have to ignore because there are few options in newry and bethel area that have quality products. While growing up skiing at Sunday river and coming/going regularly because we are fortunate to have a condo on the mountain, I've tried it all. I've gone to this place consistently since it opened, in my experience service has always been fake and interesting...its not a one time event. It's been consistently poor. But the foods excellent and they offer a different type of product to the tourists and/or a clintele willing to pay a higher price.

The Good Food Store is a great place to stop for final provision before hitting the woods for a few days - although visitors probably wouldn't know it, as the building is so indiscernible, it's very easy to drive by - It looks like an old, unwindowed farm house - I only noticed the sign saying "local Maine food!" in the window when I was getting gas across the street. The Good Food Store also makes solid sandwiches - perfect for that return trip from the woods. And pretty darn good coffee, too.

Nice store with different cheeses, beer, wine, natural products. Very good sandwiches! BBQ Beef with cheddar sub add horseradish sauce was great! Reuben was great!

I agree with all the other reviews.....food is great....service is only fair. My takes are the home made cookies (expecially ginger snaps)and chicken pot pies. The soups are good, but ask for a taste as sometimes they are a bit too spicey for my liking.

Driving back to the Bethel Inn after hiking in the Grafton Notch this Saturday, needed a sandwich in the worst way. As we drove by, my wife noticed cars in the lot between this business and the BBQ trailer. We turned in and it was a great choice. Tiny store packed with a lot of interesting food and wine. Ordered one of their specialty sandwiches (BBQ beef with cheddar) and was very happy with the delicious sandwich. Would highly recommend the place. My wife also picked up a homemade Oatmeal Raisin for me, which I ate later that night. Also excellent!

The people are friendly and helpful, and the food/drinks are delicious. Loved the wild rice salad and Kennebec Cider in particular. Cold cuts were decent, too.

If you are driving from Maine to Vermont this is a wonderful place to stop for lunch. The people are very friendly and they have a very nice selection of products here. Organic soap, good beer, lip balm, the bathroom was very clean. The sandwiches that my GF and I had were made with love, and very, very tasty. The answer to your question is : Yes!

We stumbled across this place after a visit to Mt. Washington in NH and decided that if we were so close to Maine we might as well go. We stopped here to get a sandwich and bought some good beer as well. The map location on Yelp, shows this place almost a half mile from where it actually is, but is actually at the same place as the Smokin' Good BBQ place (which is actually owned by the same people). This is actually a health food store, with a good selection of wine, beer and even port wine. The sandwiches are made to order, and from very good quality and not expensive at all. The BBQ place is in the parking lot of this store and you can eat at either one outside at benches if you want. We had the Turkey, Cheddar, BBQ sandwich and Beef, Cheddar and BBQ sandwich. Both were excellent, hot and fresh, though I will say that Yankee BBQ sauce is nothing like a good NC BBQ sauce, but I guess they do the best they can. :) Would definitely come back, and next time will try the BBQ place as well!
