Just Ok. Was expecting a little more ambiance, as well. My wife's filet was not seasoned and did not have a good flavor. Although the filet was wrapped in bacon, it wasn't enough to add any significant flavor. Perhaps it was not a fresh cut of filet. I had the T-bone special. It was cooked fine and was better than the filet. On a positive note, the service was fine and the wait staff attentive. Probably won't go back.

Had a wedding rehearsal dinner here. Large party with one waitress. Everything was great. Food was good and timely. Staff got everything right. Nice to not have to worry about anything the whole night. Highly recommended

Black Diamond Steakhouse is a fun steakhouse near Sunday River in Bethel, ME that is really reasonably priced and serves huge portions. The food was okay, but definitely too hearty for my taste. The service was not great, but what I have come to expect in small ski towns. I ordered the house salad and the stuffed portabella. The house salad was excellent. It featured a really tasty mix of walnuts, mandarin oranges, cranberries and Gorgonzola cheese. I was underwhelmed by the stuffed portabella dish. It was overcooked and overstuffed with cheese and bread crumbs. I did get a side of peppers and onions that were well prepared, but this was not enough to save the dining experience for me. One of my friends ordered a steak and was disappointed in its quality as well. He said it was overcooked and was disappointed by it. My friends and I also dined at Bistro 151 while we were in town. Everyone agreed that Bistro 151 was a superior restaurant, but it also is a bit pricier (no more than $3 per plate).

Had the NY strip and 'mashed a few weeks back and it was a pretty decent meal. Properly cooked to order for once which was nice. Bread and butter was above average. Service was a little weird (ok), but I won't single anyone out. Atmosphere was just ok as well. For the money its pretty good bang for your buck especially considering the options in the area for a good meal. I'd recommend it but keep your expectations reasonable.

Came here for lunch right after skiing at the Sunday River. And the hot chocolate was so good, that I ordered a second one!! The service was wonderful. A recommended appetizer is the bacon wrapped broiled scallops. The spicy chicken wings with blue cheese is alright. Had a grilled portabella mushroom cap sandwich with sweet potato fries on the side. Both were nice but the fries are especially good!

During a family ski cation at Sunday River we found this little quaint spot along the route. Located about 5 mins or so from the hill itself. Restaurant is well decorated, built out of a home. Atmosphere was warm & cozy. The staff were extremely friendly and genuinely pleased to serve us. To start- they offered 2.00 draft! Wahoo!! Score 1! Next- they brought out some fresh warm bread, what was so great about this was the butter they served with it. Omg. It was an instant hit. Whipped and with a smidgen of sugar and honey. I could have probably eaten that for my dinner. Next for the entree I ordered Chicken Parmesen. Pasta was cooked perfectly, chicken was a good size and lightly breaded. What I was most impressed with was the fact that it was not like one of those gross rubberish chicken cutlets. This was an actual boneless skinless chicken breast. My husband ordered the steak( as usual) and he quite enjoyed it. No complaints from him! So if your away to Sunday River for some skiing time, make sure you save a night to visit this little hot spot!!

Disappointed. After hearing the specials and one in our party of four ordering the Cajun salmon, was told they had run out. Waitress told us asparagus was the vegetable for the evening, but when the entrees arrived, all of us had green beans. Portions were large, taste was average to slightly above. Plenty of tables were available but the service was slow. Waitress was enthusiastic and apologized several times, but overall, we were disappointed after reading prior (very positive) reviews. Likely we will eat elsewhere next time we visit the area.

I really can't think of anything bad about this place other than the god awful cover photo of gravy fries. I would have photographed my dinner but I at it too quickly ;) Service was great and fast, our waitress was right on everything.. I am not a big steak eater but my filet mignon and my husbands prime rib were insanely delicious and the chef gave my husband mixed veggies instead of the veggie of the day (peas which he despises). My filet cut like butter and it had a nice crust on it. And I was able to order a baked sweet potato for a starch (yum!!!). For a steakhouse tucked away in Maine this place was super impressive.

Excellent service, good food, good vibe, good drinks

The food and atmosphere here are both great! The waitress was very friendly and the decoration is ski-lodge-chic! Reasonable prices for delicious food. I had the portabella burger and my boyfriend had the lobster roll. It really hit the spot!

Shocked by how many positive reviews this place has. Decor reminded me of a chain restaurant and a cafeteria lodge. Service was rude and not accommodating. The food was mediocre at best and the steak was disappointing. The chicken was rubbery and bland. We will not be back.

Almost 4 stars. Just need a little more fine tuning in decor and plating. Prime rib is only thing we had , it was very good along with salad and homemade rolls. For this area it's 4 stars.

Great place! I've stopped in here a few times now and have found the food to be consistently excellent. Whether just for a beer, apps or a full course meal I have found the service to be friendly and accomodating. The proprietors are super friendly and ever present. They do a great job of making you feel welcome. Stop in the next time you're in the Sunday River area, you won't be dissappointed!

I came here with five other people for dinner and to enjoy our last night up at Sunday River. We wanted a real nice meal to end our trip so we didn't mind spending some cash for a nice evening. We DID NOT get what we were expecting. The waitress was nice but not very informative. It took about 25 minutes to get our drinks after we had ordered them. We all ordered steaks for our entree (prime rib and rib eyes) and each and every steak (yes all six of them) were about 80% fat and one of them was even worse. My rib eye was served cold cold cold, and not just the steak, the entire plate. I had mashed potatoes as a side and they were bland bland bland. I felt bad for the server as I don't think they did a good job preparing her for what to do in the case of an issue. We did see her go talk to the manager and explain what had happened but only came back to offer us free desserts. We declined. The manager should have come over to discuss our issues but never showed their face. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, check another one out. Don't fall for the owners cheesy Hummer with flashing lights in the parking lot.

Delicious medium rare New York strip. Salad, roll, vegetable, choice of potato or rice side, and thin fried onions all included in the meal. Great. Equally important, the staff is very friendly and professional. The next table over was impressed the waitress remembered them from long ago. Absolutely recommended!

Yummmmmm. We randomly stopped here for brunch since we couldn't Yelp it given this is Black Diamond's first post ever (I'm putting you guys on the map!) My grilled chicken sandwich and side of sweet potato fries were positively delicious but all four of us agreed that our portions could have and should have been bigger. That being said, this is a chill, low key spot with TVs and a gigantic (apparently real) moose head on the wall - perfect for a crisp Sunday River morning!

We were at Sunday for a four day ski trip. We drove by and thought that this restaurant would be a good one. Unfortunately it was not what we expected. The food was served super fast which was unexpected as we ordered a steak and trout. The mashed potatoes were cool and the string beans were greasy. The trout was also cool and the crab stuffing was more bread than crab. The steak was lukewarm but not worth $20 and seemed small. The hot wings were more like atomic wings. The chicken strips were very greasy and not appealing to our 11 year old. I would not recommend this restaurant it certainly was not worth the money we spent.

We had a wonderful lunch after skiing today. The food was fresh, tasty and exactly what we were looking for. Furthermore, our service was great! The bartender was busy but always on point and wonderful.

Food was mediocre. Service was poor. 22 Broad Street is a better option per local sources.

We had lunch and dinner here during our ski trip to Sunday River. Good basic steak and seafood, nothing fancy. Good service, decent prices. If you want a fancier meal go into town on Main Street and hit the Sudbury Inn. We had the chicken parmigiana for dinner and the lobster roll and prime rib sub for lunch and thought they were both pretty good, especially for the price. We would come back for a casual meal when in the area.

We had a great dinner at Black Diamond Steakhouse while we were visiting Sunday River recently. Every single person was really friendly and the service was very good.. The food is good, the portions are large, and it is very reasonably priced. The only thing that I really didn't like were the carrots. They were super super sweet, I don't think anyone ate more than 1-2 of the small slices. I had the stuffed white fish and it was quite good.

I went here willing to pay to pay the high prices for a steak. Was with a table of 6 friends, got stuck in the corner with no lights barely able to see the menu or our food. Both my friend and I ordered a 12oz prime rib and was served rib eye, probably 10oz of it was inedible fat. Out of the rest of our table of 4 steaks maybe 1 was a good cut. The fat on ALL our plates was staggering. We let our waitress know and she didn't seem to care and didn't seem surprised. She did offer us free desserts but after a crummy meal we were less than interested in dessert. The manager was sitting at the counter drinking beers and did not bother to come over to talk to us about our bad meals, considering the money we spent on dinner, apps, and drinks we thought this was very rude and poor management. On our way out I stopped to tell him about our bad meals and our disappointment and the owner had the nerve to start an argument with me and try to drag me in the kitchen to show me their cuts saying it was our fault for what we ordered. If that's how Black Diamond Steakhouse deals with customers they will be out of business soon. Skip it here and find a good dinner somewhere else.

My husband and I came here one night during the summer. We strolled in at 8.30pm, not realizing they closed at 8pm. We were promptly seated, no questions asked. Our meals came ridiculously fast and they were piping hot and delicious! My husband had steak and some other stuff (forgive me for not paying attention, I was enthralled by my meal). He said it was pretty delicious and I approve of his opinions (he married me so I can't complain). He also had a beer there called Baxter I think? Said it was one of the best beers he's ever had! I had a chicken caesar salad. I think you can tell a lot about a place by their salad. The chicken was hot and I didn't find any pieces with fat stuck on them like other places do. They had the perfect amount of dressing on it. The croutons were nice and crispy, just the way I like them. The waitstaff was fantastic! We had an older lady who was just all smiles and very personable. After we had been there for an hour, a lady walked in and asked what time they closed. She told them 8pm on Sundays. Knowing that we had walked in at 8.30 and been seated made us feel guilty, but at the same time, it just showed us how truly great their customer service was. They could have turned us away, but they didn't. They didn't complain once about us being there. They still gave us great service and a wonderful meal. Bottom line: We will be back to eat here again. It was an amazing experience.

My wife and I only went to the Black Diamond Steakhouse when our first choice ended up being closed for a special event and we ended up being happy that we did. It was the weekend of the Tough Mountain Challenge at Sunday River ski resort so everywhere in town was busy. The Black Diamond Steakhouse was no different but only being a party of two we were seated almost immediately when we arrived. Looking around the dining room you see lots of ski memorabilia on the walls and a huge moose head on the wall...WELCOME TO MAINE ! The staff was in (somewhat) organized chaos and the manager was very busy busing tables, seating people, bringing out food and pouring drinks. It looked as though the Black Diamond was very undermanned for the amount of people that were eating but they certainly get an A for effort. As far as the food goes, if you like the classic steakhouse menu then you're going to like it. If your a food yuppie and prefer your food fancy with ingredients that you can't pronounce then pass on by. For an appetizer we had fresh cut french fries topped with gravy. The fries and gravy were good but the portion a little small and we finished them in abut 30 seconds. Simone went veg head with her meal and ordered a portabello mushroom cap stuffed with boursin cheese and topped with breadcrumbs. I had the Chicken Cordon Blu , both meals came with the salad of your choosing, a diner roll, vegetable of the day and a choice of starch. For our starch we ordered the Rice Pilaf. My chicken was fresh prepared and perfectly moist. Stuffed full with ham and Swiss, It was not breaded like some Cordon Blu, so you can even claim it was healthier. The rice was fluffy and nutty due to the toasted orzo. It was a perfect pilaf. The green beans on the side were tender but not overcooked and the dinner roll was light and fresh tasting. Simone and I both enjoyed our meals and cleaned the plates. We had received a coupon for a free dessert from the hotel we were staying at so we could not pass up the classic Brownie a la mode. A nice hunk of a rich brownie topped with classic vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, chopped nuts and whipped cream. It was just as mom would have made had she loved me as much as she claims. Overall this was just a simple comforting meal. There was no wow factor but one wasn't needed. It was a good and satisfying meal. The service under the circumstances was also very good and we could not have asked for much more. 4 stars for the Black Diamond Steakhouse,

Great 19th hole stop after playing the Sunday River Golf Club. Great steak, fast, friendly and fun staff. Must leave room for the local baked blueberry pie a la mode.

Absolutely mouth watering baked stuffed haddock. And the risotto is AMAZING. The chicken wings are so fresh and not frozen! Hard to find. Definitely a place worth satisfying your hunger pang after a day of hiking or snowboarding!
