Service low to mediocre. Should I have to ask for an empty glass of water refilled? Where are you? There's only one other table. Srsly. Duck above average to top 10 I've ever had. Bathroom average q. At least clean. Decent clean feel throughout.

Avoid at all costs! The food is actually decent but extremely overpriced. The fish tank that was on display was disgusting, over-populated, and obviously neglected (the water was GREEN!). The furniture looked like it was falling apart and was sticky. The floors looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. It seems as though the management doesn't even know what kind of place they're trying to run, I couldn't figure out if it was a restaurant, a bar, or a grimy dance club. And is there a reason the television is always on preschool children's programming? What is this, a daycare center or a bar???

My advice. ....NEVER EAT HERE. Worst thai food. We were a group of 6. Odered 6 dishes. Very hungry after hiking in bar harbor. Guess what.....we could eat only 1 dish because most of the food was garbage, stinking and unaesthtic to look at. When we complained, the jackass owner smugly suggested that his was original thai and that is what food was supposed to tadte like. He could see us leaving most of the food uneaten and he was not even apologetic. Drunken noodles are an amazing dish and good thai restaurants make the dish to satisfy the soul. This dump of a restaurant made the soul cringe and the body vomit. Plesse please please. ...stay away! This comes from a person who eats thai once a week and appreciates the lovely cuisine. But this dump will make u hate evrything about the food.

I take back every bad thing I ever wrote about this place. This place has become one of my favorite restaurants in Bangor after I decided to go back and give it another try in 2012. I'm going to review a few things that I have had and currently get repeatedly. Got take out here on Jan 15th and decided I needed to amend my original review. This is the best Pad Thai that I have found near Bangor and the Drunken Noodles are really good as well - they have a ton of vegetables and the sauce is perfect. Whenever I say 1,2, or 3 star for spice, they get it right every time (unlike the Orono place) and they give him an adequate amount of shirmp (usually 5 per noodle dish, unlike the place in Ellsworth where you only get 2). Crab Rangoons are my absolute favorite. They are made with curry and are very light and have a smooth center. Massaman Curry is awesome! The potatoes are cooked through yet not mushy and the peanuts in it give it a nice crunch. Basil Fried Rice is pretty good as well. A bit on the spicy side but has a nice flavor and leaves of basil mixed in with the asparagus and string beans (which were great additions to give the dish texture). Sushi: I have had a few rolls from here. They mostly do simple rolls here. If you are looking for something super extravagant and crazy go to Kobe or Green Tea. Thai Spring Rolls: I have had them fried and not fried. Both ways are great, but the non fried one has a nice bite of cilantro to it while the fried ones do not. Plus the fried ones are pretty small while the fresh rolls are huge. Service is hit or miss if you sit at a table, so sit at the bar where the bartender CB makes the BEST Berries Mojito drink ever... vodka, muddled mint, and berry puree... careful, they can be dangerous, but oh so delicious!

I really wanted to like this place. I've always passed by it and wanted to walk in but instead I ended up getting takeout. So this review is strictly based on the food. I love Drunken Noodles (or Pad Ke Mow) I think its called. This place had the worst one I have ever had. It was in the sauce that just had this tang to it that I really didn't care for. I might try it again ultimately because all the guys I work with love the place.

We didn't check the yelp reviews before coming but this place is way below average coming from Toronto. The sushi was about the same as when we make it at home with the rice the wrong texture and flavor, however with this version our two kids who ate it got sick. Three of us had Pho which was really bland. The Service was well meaning but unprofessional. Not recommended at all.

Wait... where.. am I? Decor that should be in Boston or NY, high ceilings, neon signage. I came in late, but they were very cordial. No one likes that girl who comes in at 2:45 for lunch, but they were inviting and didn't make me feel like I was messing up their day. I got the pho and mango sticky rice (yes combining the Vietnamese and Thai) and it was great (except there was no hoisin sauce offered with the pho, which seemed out of sorts to me) The mango sticky rice was superb!

Awful service, food came out all at different times, literally 10 mins apart. I asked for extra hot sauce on the side and it came after I was finished with my meal. Tea that was ordered in the beginning came with the bill. There were only two other parties there so it was ok excuse for the poor service. And a warning, if you have 6 or more people they will add 20% gratuity. Awful place. The food was ok but not worth the frustration.

I am convinced the owners of this place are the same as Thai Siam. The service is hit or miss and the food is okay but not outstanding.

Bangor needed an upscale place like this. Owned and run by the same people who own Thai Siam just down the street. Food was delicious, Staff was particularly friendly and enjoyable as they are at Thai Siam. Located right across the street from the Penobscot Theatre makes going here an obvious and welcome choice. Very pleased. Equally pleased that the other location remains open.

Delicious food. Spacious. Includes an "authentic" Japanese area with elevated floor, cushions, and no shoes allowed. Plenty of tables though as well. Can't speak to the nightlife factor but a great all-ages, upscale dining addition to Bangor! Would absolutely return.

A little quick to give them 3 stars but oh well. The deep impact roll didn't have avocado on it like it says, and the roll was overall not very full of flavor. The miso soup was luke warm, and the special drinks are a little pricey. One of the owners, who is in his early 20's, was playing video games in the side room. Normally this is weird, but I like video games. I could see how some patrons would be put off though. Awesome atmosphere and interior though.

I've only eaten here once, but the staff was very friendly and helpful, the ambiance was great, and the sushi/sashimi was great. Especially pleased with the size of the fish - very large cuts! Also enjoyed a very large portion of drunken noodles. We will be returning!

The waitresses know nothing about what they're serving. They're quite absent minded and ditzy. The food is amazing. I really enjoyed the pho. Everything we got was delicious. However it all came out at odds times and took quite awhile. I've heard they have different chefs who specialize in different types of Asian food and this is why they come out at separate times. I plan on going back again.

Very average. Asked for sauces on side & they came on food. Won't be going back

Disappointing sushi, wait staff was absent-minded and the edemame came out AFTER we were done eating our sushi.

First, the ambiance was great; a breath of fresh air for Bangor. We sat in recessed floors which seemed like a novel idea but not very practical. Getting in and out was a pain in the butt, but the cushions were cozy. You do have to take off your shoes to enter this area. No problem there. However, I noticed all the staff needing to take theirs off as well, including when they are balancing a tray of food. I would be expecting an accident soon from this dangerous juggling act. Second, we ordered drinks and an appetizer. I recommend the curried crab rangoon. We only ordered a couple of cocktails and I wasn't too impressed. Mine was tasty, a green tea saketini, but the martini glass was only half full which was disappointing. Third, for dinner we ordered a range of meals from sushi to pho (no complaints there and the portions were very generous). The arrangements of the meals were skillfully done although I have reservations about my order. I ordered the Japanese Salmon steak; served with wedges of carrots and potatoes with a cup of rice and a bowl of miso soup. The Salmon was a generous portion but was hard to taste under an overwhelming sauce which was not much different than an Asian BBQ (flavor and texture). A third of a serving of the sauce could have been drizzled onto the plate rather than it being poured over the salmon like gravy hiding bad meatloaf. They have nothing to hide. Let the salmon shine on its own. The miso was tasty but alas cold. I would definitely go back again to experience other dishes, seating, and drinks because judging this place on one try would not give credit to the potential you feel when you are there.

I have returned to Zen for a second time to try their Pho soup. It was delicious. I went with the seafood option, but they also offer pork and steak. I found that the price was really good, and that the soup itself was healthy. My friend got a Thai curry dish, and she enjoyed her meal as well. They have also modified their menu....the miso soup is now only $2. I will definitely be going again for their Pho soup and Thai cuisine.
