Great place to go if you're into sports. The food is good, but don't go here if you are expecting anything more than bar food. My favorite thing to get here is the loaded cheese fries and the boneless BBQ chicken wings. I also really like how they serve popcorn before your meal. Overall, a really fun place to go. Some things I really think they could improve on: Why do the staff wear shorts? I know it's a sports place but it's just not classy looking at all. I'm confused about why they wear khakis too... it seems like nice, dark jeans would be a better uniform. I also think the wait staff needs more training; there is no consistency. I realize it's a very casual feel here, but in the over 50 times I've been here I've never had a waiter/waitress say anything like "Hi! Welcome to Hero's, my name is ____________ and I'll be taking care of you tonight." It's usually just "Hey guys. Know what you want to drink?" I think the atmosphere would be better without all of the games (except the hunting one, love that for all ages). I know they're going for a family feel, but I feel like they should just keep the most popular ones and concentrate them into one area. Lastly, the atmosphere is so much better here when there is music playing. Instead of making people pay, why not just play music all night?

I highly recommend Heroe's as their service and food is excellent. The owners are always present and very friendly. Also, they have many daily food and beer specials and for a "Sports Bar" they are kid friendly.

Screens galore and cheap brew!

Good pub style food in a giant sports atmosphere. If you can't find it on one of these TV's - it's probably not on! Friendly staff, cold beer, hot food, made for a nice stop this night

This place has definitely improved with their new location - I feel they have improved their menu choices & the taste of their food too! Relaxing location - great place to gather with friends.

Good food and great beer specials. Perfect place to watch a game

One gripe: They never answer their phone! Okay, now for the goods: They have every channel you need. So if you're in from Colorado and want to watch the Pac-12 network--they've got it and they'll get it on for you. It's a big place. The crowd comes to watch New England play but otherwise you'll get a relatively quiet bar. It's everything you could hope for out of a sports bar: tons of televisions, pitchers of beer, decent prices, edible bar food, and free popcorn.

Horrible service and the food is average pub food at best. If you are looking to watch the game it is ok for that.

My friend and I were from out of town and needed a nice place to eat with a good atmosphere so we chose Hero's. We had a really great experience here. The food was bar food, but honestly that's what we were expecting. We got an appetizer and beer, and two meals. All the food came out quickly and tasted great. It was just what we needed. I liked the different sports playing on different tvs, but enjoyed that they played music in the background instead of having tv noise. Overall it was enjoyable. If you don't like pub food then I would suggest not going to a bar and grill type of place, but if that's what your looking for is cheap, great tasting food then this will be a great choice!

Walked in, walked out. Dirty, grungy $hithole. Is this supposed to be kiddo land or a sports bar?!

Food is good, but the service is terrible. Very slow and inattentive staff. Too bad too cause I like the concept and atmosphere

Ok so, I originally come from Massachusetts where sports bar and grills are a dime a dozen and they are all pretty much amazing where they cook fresh bar food and have cold and refreshing beer on tap and lots of televisions. As I turn the clocks to today in Bangor, ME, we have this establishment that is both a fun place to go to watch the games and eat some good bar food. This evening we hit this place where a good friend and I bright our sons to the eating area (where they love to go and play the video games and win some tickets) and this is what we had: I had the large order of wings with a tall glass of Angry Orchard cider. My bud had the chicken Parmesan with a tall glass of Angry Orchard cider. My son had a giant grilled cheese sandwich and some fries and his son had some fries. The food was very good and was hot. The ambiance was a family friendly even into some of the night hours of 7-730pm. The only detractor for this place that would have given a 5 star was the service that we received. Our waitress was slow and very inattentive. She never brought popcorn to the table and gave us a bad look when we sat down with our boys ... almost a feel of (Oh God little kids ... there goes my tip). The other times that I have been here we have had mixed service. Some really good experiences and some really poor experiences. But the food is always good and the beer is always on tap. They are also willing to change the channels on the TV if there is a game that you want to watch. I recommend it for the sports fan that wants some good grub.

Think Buffalo Wild Wings....and you got Hero's. Same feeling and atmosphere...though the big chain has very clear direction of service...while this place is definately family run and has that feeling. I went here to watch my school Ohio State bball game....drank coors lighs and ate a buffalo chicken pizza. Beers are cold and the bartender was awesome, pizza is a pub style...really good. Def. recommend if your in the area looking for a spot to watch the game.

Eat their at least once a week food is generally good every once and awhile I'll get a bad meal but 95% of the time it's great. Has reasonable prices. To go orders are ready for when they say they will be.

If you are looking for "The Spot" to watch the next sporting game YOU found it at Hero's! - Lots of TVs and Bar food is bar food.... The staff is nice and attentive. We had the chicken wings and they were yummy. I do agree with Sarah regarding the Fried Pickles- they could be better. Other then that Hero's is a good time!

I like this place. I would probably only give it 3 stars, but my husband and son LOVE this place. Sweet chili wings are great, skip the beef stew, Nachos are good with grated cheese. Philly breadsticks were yummy too!

I have been here a few times. The food here is good for bar food. But that's what it is...bar food. They have these stuffed bread sticks, that I have had several friends recommend. I tried the buffalo chicken ones and they were good, but just good. I don't think I would rave about them to others, but they were tasty. What I like about Heros....the beer selection! Many beers on tap which is always good. And a varying degrees of hot sauce for their wings. What I don't like....the service. It isn't horible, but it's not great. I usually sit at the bar, and it seems to always take the bar tender a few minutes to "warm" up. I usually feel like I'm bothering the bar tender when I order my first beer, but then by the second, all is good. Over all, Hero's has decent food with a great beer selection and is affordable.

LOVE the fried pickles, and the atmosphere is perfect for going to watch a game.

* Been here a half dozen times. * Average bar food. * Very nice draft beer selection. * Met owners, very friendly and wanted to make sure our experience was good. * Appriciate the wi-fi.

LOVE this place! 1. Great bar food. Nothing is super classy but I have pretty much always liked what I have gotten there. GOOD: -Steak and Cheese with sweet potato fries is the BEST in the area! -Loaded Breadsticks are fully loaded -Wings are really good Could be better: -Fried Pickles and Jalapeno Bottle Caps (really greasy and should look into using a different batter-this one has no taste to it sadly) -Salads- could add a little color to them besides onion, lettuce, and green peppers. The only issue is that it is soooo busy it is hard to get seated on a Fri or Saturday night. Youre best bet is to put your name in a wait at the bar. Good drink menu (try the trash can drink!). Another con is that there are usually kids running around up to and after 9pm since it is also a family establishment as much as it is a sports bar. Its also very loud there so if you want a quiet cute date night or dinner, this is not the place to go on a weekend. Always have a varity of games on, except when the Red Socks play- it seems to dominate all the TVs : ( it would be nice to have a varity up, and maybe they will change that this season. I love heros for the waitstaff, the atmosphere, food, drinks, and price. You cant find a better place in bangor.
