meh, not the best, not the worst. As a pescatarian I don't have too many options here, but let me share my experience. Came here with a friend on a Friday night, not too busy, no wait. Apps: BBQ Chicken nachos with no chicken - pretty good, the BBQ sauce is awesome but they have a gritty cheese sauce on it that was ok. Bunyan Onion - same old same old, exactly what you would expect. Mac and Cheese - not that great. It had a bland / no taste - was almost like a rue with cheese on top. pasta was over cooked - took rest home to my roomie and even she didn't care for it Coconut Shrimp - AWESOME, best thing I had, Perfectly fried and the sauce that comes with it was really good. My friend had the Cesar Salad and said it was "eh" and he had a cup of chowder and he said that was alright - he ate it all so I assume he enjoyed it. Service was really nice but kinda slow. Took a bit for my friend to get refills on his soda and he wasn't personable, just there to work. Host staff was super nice. Place is really clean and looking nice after the remodel. I have not been here in nearly 10 years so I was half expecting to see the talking animals still, but nope, they classed up the place. Menu prices are really affordable and the atmosphere is still the same, family oriented and casual.

Eight of us went here because my grandson picked this place. I could give the service two stars and that would be generous. Two in our party had the ribs and thought them to be dried out. I had Salmon and thought it was a shame the fish had died and let these people prepare it. My salad had watery dressing. Just a horrible experience. We had one of these near us in MA but it went out of business. Gee, wonder why. I had contacted them on their website prior to going up there. Asked if I could make reservations. No response. Poor food, poor communications, poor service. Consistent.

My wife and I just pulled into Bangor at dinner time and we saw this place nearby. Think of this place as Outback goes to the North Woods. Casual family place that looks like the inside of a ski lodge. Diverse enough menu to please just about everyone in the family. The big surprise for us was that the stuffed moose, bison and bass hanging from the walls of the place "spoke" to the patrons as if it was some Disneyland exhibit. We had a young waitress who seem flustered at times, but the food was good and my steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. We got what we expected (except for the talking animals!).

It was the case of the disappearing waitress. There were 7 of us in our party. Celebrating my sisters' birthday, she chose Bugsboo Creek. We have eaten there on and off ever since they opened close to 20 years ago. After the experience we had today, I don't believe any of us will ever go back. After taking our orders, bringing one round of beverages and our bread along with the appetizer.....our waitress disappeared! Our glasses were empty, the bread as well as the appetizer was gone and we waited and waited...finally, one of us went to the bartender and asked if he could find our waitress. The place was not very busy, although several people came in, ordered and received their meal while we were still waiting for our waitress and food. Eventually, someone came long and said our food would be out in 4 or 5 minutes..they were backed up in the kitchen...still no waitress though. Our food finally arrived, about the same time as our missing waitress magically appeared telling us that she was on the phone because of a family emergency and that the manager failed to send someone over to cover our table...so sorry, manager was going to knock off 20%. Our food was not fit to eat. I had the meatloaf, mixed veggies and smashed potatoes....the meat loaf was dried out, cold and the meat left a layer of fat in my mouth as i tried to eat it..even half a bottle of ketchup did little to help. the vegetables were thrown on the plate without being drained properly so the water was pooling round my mashed potatoes. 2 in the group ordered ribs, they were dried out and black...the snowbird chicken was even dried out. I wont ever allow them to burn me like that again, because I wont go back.

If you like chain restaurants and what they have to offer then you will like Bugaboo Creek. It is a good place to bring kids to see the motorized buffalo or moose heads above the bar and the floor along with flopping fish and racoons popping out of barrels. The food is ok but would expect more for a place that looks like it caters to a steakhouse feel. This place is far from a steakhouse .. more like Chuck 'E Cheese that serves meat products. Fun for kiddies but cramped and crowded for adults. Last time there (about a week ago) I got the chopotle turkey wrap ... menu said that it had bacon and spicy aoli but it basically had turkey and mayo. My wife got the blue cheese, cranberry and pecan salad that was good except the rosemary chicken that was on top was lathered in the rosemary and overwhelmed the entire salad to almost inedible proprtions. The Maple viniagrette was very good though after removing the chicken. My son got the cheeseburger I wanted medium well but it came rock hard and well done and the cheese looked old and had been on the burger fr a while. The only food that was worth talking about was the French Fries, the log of bread in the beginning and the side of sauteed mushrooms (even though they did taste like they were frozen and heated up. Our server, Tracker (yes his name is Tracker) was very attentive and on the ball but it is tough when you work in a restaurant that services many children. Felt bad for him but he was very accomodating and repsonsive to our needs and those others that were tightly packed in the dining area (felt like sardines). So, with that being said, if you want a fun place for the kiddos and not care too much about the food quality or taste, then Bugaboo is for you ... but if you want a steak dinner that taste great, take your services to Longhorns or Road House in Bangor.

I come from a big family and they all live in Maine. So, as a way to gain some time alone with my mother during my last visit, my boyfriend and I decided to treat her to a late lunch between the three of us. After driving around we decided on Bugaboo creek. I did find the building appealing and I enjoyed the large wooden moose posted up at the entry. The food was what I expected and though it did not wow me, it was perfectly fine for what I ordered. Where this place came up short was on the service. Our server was over bearing and would not leave our table. I do enjoy an active server who shows attention, but I do not go out to eat to hear the life story of the person serving our food. He told us all about his summer job in Bar Harbor, his family in the area and on and on to include his religious beliefs and sexual orientation! I had little time to engage with my mother and that was the whole reason for going. After finishing up our martinis, we requested that with our meal we get a glass of chardonnay. Our server flat out looked at us and told us that after one drink, we have had too much and that he thought we should not have any more. Since we had each had one drink, I was absolutely insulted and could not believe the gall of this man. We were so taken aback we asked to speak to the manager who agreed with us completely that we did not have "too Much". Our server said he could smell alcohol us when we walked in. He actually said that to our face! Well, little did he know we had just come from a morning of driving around from family to family and NO, we indeed had not been drinking? I will go back to Maine since my Family is there. I WILL NOT be back to this place.

The food was good, but it's definitely a tourist trap. There's always lots of happy birthday singing, which gets annoying. Great place for the kids, not so much for adults. The bar is always empty as I can imagine no grown up would want to listen to a moose talk at you.

Bugaboo's is a gimmicky place designed for tourists or people with young children. It has a number of stuffed animals that are motorized and move such as a talking moose head and a raccoon that pops out of a barrel. At Christmas, they had a giant singing Christmas tree. You can pretty much tell whether you would enjoy this restaurant or not by your reaction to the idea of being greeted by a Christmas tree with eyes and a mouth or having a moose head address you while you are midway through your meal. Children will be delighted and love all the entertainment, but if you are looking for a place to spend a quiet evening among adults this isn't the place to do it. The prices are also pretty high considering the quality of the food which can best be described as a mediocre steakhouse. If you have young children and want a place to go where you don't have to worry about them sitting quietly and behaving, this is a great restaurant for you: The wait staff are extremely patient with the youngsters and will give you a guided tour of the "attractions." For adults without children who are seeking steakhouse type fare, you will be much happier a few blocks away at Longhorn steakhouse: The quality of food is vastly superior for only slightly higher prices and the ambiance is much less crowded and hectic, without any talking moose heads!

Not bad. Pretty simple menu but well executed.
