Just had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays in Augusta. I always love the atmosphere at the bar. Dustin has a great personality! They have a good selection of beer and it's is good and cold! The burgers, although not as good as Red Robins burger, are always tastey and cooked perfect. The staff is always very friendly, even if they are not your direct server. P. S. The person who put a review on here comparing it to malaria, get a clue. The only bad experience is your write up. You are a Dr. not a critic.

Ruby Tuesday Augusta, Maine. While we were seated within just a few moments, that is when the good service ended. We were apparently seated in a section where a young man was also the bartender. Now anyone will tell you who is worked in the service industry that you will make more money from tips serving drinks then from serving food. We understand that, and yet the manager of this particular Ruby Tuesday's seeme not to. After about 10 minutes we were allowed to order our food, and then we sat waiting for another 63 mins. When we finally flag down the manager to ask about the food, she was rude and seemed angry, as if we had done something to irritate her. She said that they had been "Swamped by a lunch rush." I'm not certain about most restaurants, but I would almost expect a lunch rush at lunchtime. We looked around and found several booths empty, and a quick glance at the watch show the time to be 1:20. We had been seated for over an hour, and one of our party had noticed that many other tables were also waiting. No one it seems had gotten up to leave since we had been seated! Because we were seated in direct view of the kitchen, I could see several wait staff milling around talking. Because our server was also the bar tender, he chose to ignore us. That decision cost him any hope of a tip. On the way out, one of our party spoke to the manager. She at first attempted to place blame on the bartender, but in the end apologized, somewhat reluctantly. He gave her his email and she promised to get back to him. Perhaps not surprising, he never heard from her. The Food. Remember those tasty little Biscuits they always brought you as you were looking over the menu? On the second request, our bartender/server brought us, a party of four, 3 biscuits. One looked as thought it had been stepped on; one looked as if a bite had been taken from it and the final was fine. We didn't bother asking for seconds. When the food finally arrived it was cold. I had noticed that several plates of food had been sitting on the receiving window for some time; one hamburger plate had sat motionless for at least 15 minutes when I became too bored to watch any longer. Of the four of us, two were ill before we had gotten back to the Waterville area. The cause is uncertain, but we tend to eat fairly well, so I can only imagine it had something to do with the food we were served. I ordered the Spareribs, which, had they been hot, or even warm, would have been pretty good. The sides were Mac & Cheese (which sat on the heat plate for some time as the food itself was cold but the bottom of the dish was hot), and the mashed potato, which was the temperature of April snow, and had the flavor of a used kitchen sponge. Although not as bad as eating from a dumpster behind a McDonald's, nevertheless it was bad enough. The Experience. I am not going to tell you that this is the worst dining experience I have ever had. It is however the worst experience I have had in Maine. The manager was abrasive and seemed to have been having a very bad day. That would be all understandable had she emailed us as promised. She chose not to. Apparently damage control is not her forte. Nor is hoping to salvage a repeat customer. Finally, while I won't say the experience was the worst thing since Malaria, I will say it was horrid, and worse, it did not have to be. The manager could have told the server "Bar or serving. Not both." But she did not. The manager could have kept a better watch on the kitchen and on the food that was piling up on the serving station window, but she did not. When called to a table and asked about why the food had taken over 60 minutes to receive, she could have apologized and checked, rather than be accusatory and make excuses about a "lunch rush." And, when a table full of customers leaves and explains exactly HOW terrible their experience was, the manager then had every opportunity to at least reach out and salvage the customers. She did not. As a psychologist and specialist in communication, I can tell you that this manager needs retraining at the very least. That training should include marketing, customer retention, and a good helping of humble pie. It is unlikely however that this will occur, and our experience, the culinary a privilege to a hit-and-run accident will not be repeated, at least by us at that restaurant. Ruby Tuesday in Augusta has lost four customers, and judging from the reviews, many more. UPDATE: After 3 phone calls and left messages, and after 3 unreturned emails, I sent part of this review to the marketing people at Ruby Tuesdays. They had the same person contact me. She simply had NO time to address this issue.

Honestly, it was our waitress, Callie, that made our visit great. She was funny and personable and very attentive. I don't even care that my burger was a bit dry and had too much mayo. Next time I come to this Ruby's, I'm asking for Callie. But seriously, Ruby's... what ratio of fat to meat are you using? Dry dry dry... that made me sad. :(

I've had it with this place. I hate my hamburgers with pickles and after the third time they did it I had it. Not to mention they've cut their portions and yet you still pay the same price. Avoid Ruby Tuesday

Food was good and the atmosphere was nice. They had Shipyard Prelude on tap which is unusual and was quite enjoyable. Family friendly. Best service I have ever had! Humor mixed with just the right amount of attention. Ask for Eric, he was great!
