The Town Grill is a little hidden Paradise on the border of Lisbon and Woodbine. Like others note, it is a hole in the gas station, but well worth a visit. They feature delicious BBQ made from local farms, so no bad stuff happened to your angus burger when it was alive. Which is something I like to know, considering how disgusting and shady the food industry is these days. Everything is good and well priced. The seating is there is small- the only thing they could approve on, although I'm not sure how, since it is inside a gas station. Park at the gas station or walk across. It is worth it.

Go for the ribs, stay for the atmosphere. You can't get more authentic than this.

Imagine being starving and you are driving from WV to Jersey for 4 hours and still have 2 hours more you have plans for that night, your low on gas, so you don't want to stop and drive too far off your route. I found myself in this conundrum, to eat or not to eat, so I decided I needed gas and this place was only about 4 minutes off the route. To my surprise the food was fantastic, plentiful and on point. All the meats were smoky and of course I went with the sweet potato fries cause I know whats up.

Came here in a Saturday when they had their ribs. The ribs were good and for the price it was a great value. The pulled pork with coke slaw on top was a great combo. Great little place to eat before or after Larriland.

Don't let the fact that they are located in the back of a gas station fool you....this place is legit. Everything I have ever eaten here is delicious. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner....doesn't matter. My favorites are the breakfast burrito, the HUGE pancakes, and the pit ham and turkey. I have been dying to try their ribs they have seasonally on Saturdays, but haven't been able to do it yet.

Good choice of sandwiches- turkey Reuben, pork n' Mac, and brisket. Clean restrooms a bonus.

Great smoked meats when cooking outside on weekends. Breakfast is always worth the wait. Tables limited usually busy. Go outside - picnic tables. If you're on I 70 traveling, don't go to McDonalds,,, hit this place.

The food is very good ... when they get it right. Unfortunately, they get our orders wrong nearly half the time we visit here. And if you send it back to be correct, you get absolutely nothing but a nasty attitude from the staff. Once we ordered tacos (for a child) and they brought out a massive taco salad. When we told them we ordered tacos the cashier (the gentleman that took our order) literally started yelling that we were lying. Once I ordered a pit beef sandwich well done (I can't eat pink) and they brought me out a bloody sandwich. Bloody enough to saturate the bun and leak onto the plate. When I told them that I ordered it well done, their reply was "This is all we have." This is an absurd attitude! You have a hot grill! Make it like I ordered it or just tell me you can't without bringing me an incorrect order! I miss their pit beef, but I just can no longer visit here. It's not worth my time and I'd rather send my money elsewhere.

BBQ Sunday and breakfast tower are worth the trip out here. Breakfast tower is not on menu so you have to ask for it. Includes 2 thick mile high pancakes stuffed with sausage and bacon topped with 2 eggs. Get the eggs over easy.

Hole-in-the-wall (hole in the gas station) place, on your way to/from Larriland farms. Very good brisket, extremely generous portion for the price, good flavor, very good topped with onions and bbq sauce. Pit beef less special but also decent. Extra parking across the street, friendly/quick staff (especially for a small town gas station location!). Eat-in area is nothing special (and cramped), so to-go is an easy decision.

Very good Smoked Ribs. Luv the Club Sandwich with their combo of smoked meats. Very tender pit beef sandwich. Stop in. Bunch of down home hospitality. You will be surprised when you find the place folded in with a gas station. Don't let it fool you.

The town grill is a small diner inside of a citgo gas station. If you knew me, you would know that I avoid gas station food at all costs. However, I was hungry and stuck in woodbine md. This little gem was a surprise. Let me start by saying there is nothing gourmet about the menu and by every definition the town grill is a greasy spoon, but it's a good greasy spoon! I ordered a western omelet. The eggs were fluffy and stuffed full with cheese onion peppers. The side of crunchy home fries came with onions and peppers as well. If you are passing through woodbine, the town grill is worth the stop!

Stumbled upon this country gem while doing road work in the area. The food tastes like TLC. And the staff are warm and friendly. Quality fresh food, what else could you want.

when it's snowing I basically live here. Since we plow snow on rt 144 for MD SHA. I live 40 minutes away other wise I would eat here daily. never had a bad meal. the Texas style pit beef is killer. the Virginia pit turkey unreal. breakfast here is the best thing you can't go wrong with any choice. best part is when it's snowing they feed the all the Howard County and MD state plow drivers. it can be packed and they keep the food coming. also have the best mom and pop coffee brewed here in Baltimore. forego the fact it's in a gas station.

Pretty darn good BBQ. Food was a little slow on the day we were there, but it was pretty packed. Sides were very good. Everyone was super friendly. Portions were very good. Bottom line? Going back. (probably to try breakfast)

Good BBQ and breakfast. I usually stop here on the way to play golf and the service is good and fast.

Probably the last place I would have chosen to eat, but my college son turned me onto the Town Grill. I've never had a bad meal. Their homemade crab soup so yummy! Ribs, pit beef, BBQ, steak subs and sweet potatoes fries, delish'! Then there is breakfast...., wow! The big stack of blueberry pancakes are so good! The cooks and staff are friendly and it's a clean environment. The older country ladies that work the cash register are so nice. I love knowing I'm helping a local small business and its even a sweeter deal that I'm getting a great meal at a fair price. The ladies from my golf league are all meeting there for lunch this week after our round..., I can't wait :) Town Grill is addicting, I strongly recommend you try it! You won't be disappointed.

Great pulled BBQ Chicken too! Unplanned meal here today. Ducked in for a quick lunch while waiting for a phone call because I parked at the gas station. Impressed, and I may return to try some of the other sandwiches and sides.

This place is a pretty cool nook in a tiny town (that I happen to live in). Very meat-centric, so a lot of what people love is not gonna hit the mark for vegetarians (PS: if u are veg, do yourself a favor and AVOID the veggie wrap!) The fish and chips were tasty and though I didn't connect with the sweet potato fries like some of the other yelpers, I still found them to be decent. My only issue is that they are cut and cooked just like regular shoe-string fries and that really depletes all that yummy sweet-potato flavor that your looking for (as opposed to roasting them which makes them delicious!!) overall I found them bland - but when I got home I sprinkled cinnamon sugar over them (which I had ordered, but I guess they forgot) and that brought out some good flavor.

A hidden gem with delicious bbq and friendly staff. This was our 2nd visit and won't be our last. The bbq sundae was yummy!!! It's a great stop after a day at Larriland Farm or if you're just out for a drive.

As they say, "its where the locals eat." Some of the best barbeque around, and CHEAP. Always friendly and (generally) quick service. Every meal is good, but the breakfast is supreme and well worth the wait. Been my favorite local restaurant for many years now. PS, if you're just passing through and one have a chance to eat one meal, get the Barbeque Sundae, its delicious.

They always say never judge a book by its cover and that is particularly true about this little spot. My friend told me about how good the food was here and since I was in the area I stopped in to check it out. I was a little scared when I saw that it is a part of a gas station. Normally gas stations don't inspire freshness in my mind. Still I persevered and went in. The interior is pretty small but I was having take out so I didn't mind it too much. Deciding to play it safe I ordered a burger medium well with a side of fries. They say they use locally sourced beef and produce so that is a nice thing to know. Did not take long for my food to be ready. Prices are about what you would expect. My order came to about twelve dollars. When I took my first bite of my burger I became a fan. It was well done on the exterior with a little pink in the middle, just like I like it. It was very juicy on the inside with that slightly crisp char to the exterior. Fries didn't wow me but they weren't bad. I would like to return to try some of the bbq items on the menu. Unfortunately I don't make it out to the area that often.

Stopped here for brunch with a group of friends before our camping trip. At first I was a little skeptical since the place had little parking, being at a gas station and all, and not many tables inside to fit our group of 10. However, the staff were courteous, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything to enjoy our meal to it's fullest. We decided to eat in the outdoor section, which had plenty of seating for our party. The food was excellent! I got a pancake w/ chocolate chips, homefries and bacon. Their pancakes are amazing! I'm not sure what they use to cook it, some kind of pancake griddle similar to a waffle maker? Whatever they use, it's great, my pancake was fluffy, thick, and crispy on the outside. I definitely recommend this place if you're ever driving down 70 for a trip. They were also smoking some slabs of ribs and whole chickens, which all looked amazing! Definitely going back to this gem!

Pulled pork great. Just don't go for breakfast, service sucks and takes a very long time. Not worth the wait. Seems to improve as the day goes on. Great dinner specials and every dinner I've gotten here was wonderful. Call ahead is my best advice

In the beginning, Town Grill was great! They had really good food and great service when the owner/operator was there. The smokers out in the parking clued you in that this was real, slow smoked BBQ. My first half dozen trips were fantastic and the pulled pork never disappointed. However over time their service turned for the worse, my phone in orders were never done correctly. Ordering a pulled pork sandwich with sauce and cole slaw is not terribly difficult to make, but in the last 4 times ordering it we've received a plain, pulled pork sandwich with no sauce or slaw (someone picks up the orders for us and doesn't check the food on site). We had not seen the owner there as much lately and attribute the lack of service and follow through his absence. And unfortunately this means that when I'm in town visiting family who lives in the area, we head down 70 to Carterque or Black Hog now for our BBQ needs. Town Grill has some really good food but less than standard customer service.

Whoever thought to add a BBQ joint to a small town gas station is genius! As a non local traveling in a neighboring town I can attest that dining establishments in this rural area is far and few between. We've made several visits since discovering this joint and always left with full bellies and a smile on our faces. This is the kind of place where everybody knows your name. The food is freshly made with an assortment of fruited woods for a smoked, distinct flavor and the portion size is generous. On the downside is the lack of parking, limited indoor seating, as well as a hodge podge during the ordering process - I think this could be simplified by just paying when/where you order instead of having to make a trip to the convenience store counter; a small sacrifice for such good flavor.

Great BBQ place off the beaten path and it's in the Citgo Gas station. Seating is limited inside but they have more outside when it is warmer. Recommend the BBQ sundae. Excellent!

Best hidden secret for your Larriland Farm visit. Every time I head out to pick fruits and vegetables at Larriland Farms, this is the first stop. There isn't much out here in the area but it's so convenient. When you get off of 70 and take 94, turn Left, you'll hit a roundabout and take the last exit (to go Left). You'll see Citgo gas station on your right. Town Grill is in the gas station! You can use the bathroom, stretch your legs, fill gas, and then fill up on a delicious BBQ sundae. What is that, you might ask? Corn bread covered with cole slaw, covered with pulled pork and topped with a fried dill pickle spear! You can even fill gas here if you want to. There's tables inside and a few outside and just a perfect little popular local stop.

Found this little gem when on vacation as I was getting gas at the Citgo. It is the small restaurant inside the gas station. It smelled great so I got the BBQ Brisquet. It was mouth watering. It was so good, I drove 30 miles the next morning to get breakfast. When the cook says 2 mile hi pancakes, she really means it. They were great!

Barbeque pork and brisket were great, but it's really only about the Sweet Potato Fries for me. Why can't other places make Sweet Potato Fries like these. We've driven up all the way from Gaithersburg just for this place. It doesn't hurt that the drive through the country makes the wifey so happy.

Wonderful little sandwich, breakfast, BBQ stop. Charming gas station diner. Steak and cheese v good. Locals were touting the breakfasts which we didn't try. Look forward to stopping back there again when we're in the area.

The Town Grill in Lisbon is the place to go when you want counter service for barbecue and self-serve for gasoline. One of Howard County's best spots for grilled and smoked meats is inside the Citgo station on Rte 144 just off I-70. It's a classic joint, but don't let the basic spot fool you about the food. The Town Grill serves food with real flavor and skill. This isn't retro spot to go just because it's a quaint or unique. Instead, this is a place where the BBQ starts strong and the side dishes deliver country flavor with modern freshness and ensure that you have a terrific meal. On Saturday, we enjoyed the inspiring pairing of Town Grill with pick-your-own fruit at Larriland Farm. We parked a car packed with peaches and ate a late lunch of ribs and pulled pork. The pork was juicy with a good flavor. I ordered horseradish, which my wife liked, although next time she'll order extra barbecue sauce on the side. The ribs come on the firm side, which meant they were perfect for me because we have a Jack Spratt thing going between firm, smoked meat and the fall-off-the-bone variety that my wife loves. The half rack was huge. The exterior was crisp, and the meat inside was moist and tasty. Lots of meat on each bone. With the ribs came sides that absolutely made the meal. Coleslaw that was fresh and light. Cornbread that came out hot, light and tasting of a home kitchen. (Or maybe better than home. A young guy sitting behind us called out, "This cornbread is better than my grandmother's.") And the best was a huge dish of baked beans -- thick and flavored with meat and something that gave it a spicy kick. None of the sugar rush that makes me skip most beans. The side dishes paired beautifully with the meat, and they're way better than I'd expect at even a good BBQ place. We sat outside, and the grill guys plied us with extras -- a little starter of grilled corn, potatoes and squash, then a taste of fresh pickles. This is a "hole in the wall" kind of place. It is literally in the Citgo, so you might have friends who don't want to eat in a gas station. But they're missing out. Town Grill does a year-round business with barbecue along with a full grill menu from breakfast to burgers, friend chicken to onion rings. They also cater. On summer weekends, they pull out grills for the ribs and other treats like turkey legs that some little girls were gnawing when we arrived. They also smoke salmon and sell it by the ounce to take home. At $16/pound, this isn't cheap, but it's spectacular. How does Town Grill compare with Kloby's, the Johns Hopkins Road spot that sets the BBQ standard around here? My wife actually preferred Town Grill's pork. I'd need to taste test a little more to pick a winner on the meat, but Town Grill wins hands down on the side dishes. Better and probably twice as big. Normally, I just buy pork at Kloby's and get my own bread and sides. At Town Grill, I'd buy the full platter every time.

I came by here one day after hearing of it through a friend. The inside of the restaurant was decidedly retro with food paneled walls and such. It gave the place a lot of charm. Anyways, my friend and I walked to the back counter and ordered a smoked pork sandwich, pit beef sandwich, and orders of french fries and sweet potato fries. Both sandwiches and the french fries were good but nothing special. However, I really liked the sweet potato fries. They were both sweet and salty without covering up the sweet potato flavor as well. I'd probably return if I were in the area but at least with the pit beef sandwich, you can find just as good alternatives along Route 40.

Generally it is my policy to never dine where I can also buy gasoline for my car... it's usually a recipe for indigestion and unmitigated disaster. HOWEVER. I was starving, it was lunch time, and I'd forgotten my "real food" at home while I was out working all day, and this is the place I happened to be during my break. Allelujia. Good grab 'n go, home-cookin-type food, with actual tables to sit down at. Everyone is super friendly and is willing to explain the menu choices to you (not that they're complicated). Prices are extremely reasonable, and the area is pretty clean, considering it's inside a gas station convenience mart. Good BBQ and sammiches, with all the fixings you'd expect at such a place. What makes this place completely AWESOME to me is their fried pickles. I don't know WHY it's so difficult to find fried pickles, but this place does them and does them RIGHT. Not battered, but coated with crumbs and perfectly friend to crispy but not mushy... I could wax poetic about these pickles for wayyy longer than is decent.

Maybe it's the Wisconsin girl in me that doesn't think it's strange to eat in a gas station. This place is not close to my home, but I've managed to fit the drive into my schedule no less than 4 times in the last year. I absolutely love the sweet potato fries! (Get them with the cinnamon sugar.) I'm not usually a fan of coleslaw, but I like it here. It's really all about the meat; pulled pork and brisket are fantastic. On certain days, they have ribs- yum! Don't go if you're going to get all "foodie" about this place. The food is great, the drive out here is beautiful. It's a great destination if you're looking to do a weekend drive out in the country.
