Really great chicken. Closest thing to homemade tasting chicken that I have had in a long time. Fast counter service. A great stop after a Sunday afternoon Orioles game on the way home to Western Maryland.

Standard counter dining experience. No wait, didn't feel rushed. Ladies at the counter were very friendly. Was looking for a place to get a bite after going to nearby Larriland Farms. Easy to get to and very satisfying after apple picking. Prices are excellent. Chicken was very moist, not overly greasy, and had a nice tasting batter. More flavorful and less salty than royal farms. On par with KFC and I'd have to imagine less of the preservatives and other bad stuff. We also had cole slaw, potato wedges, and cornbread. Bread was great, I would pass on the wedges. Wish I would have went for the mac and cheese instead. The place itself could definitely use a little extra tlc, but we left pleasantly satisfied so can't complain too much.

This is review is for the fried chicken. Simply the best!!

Good homestyle fried chicken place. Wouldn't expect it in a strip mall, but everything was tasty! Got the green beans and mac n cheese, mmmmm. Chicken was juicy. They also have other options (fried seafood, gizzards, etc).

Wow. I don't often crave anything fried but for some reason I just wanted me some fried chicken today and harvest chicken is EXCELLENT! It really reminds me of KFC original recipe but not as greasy! Mm mm delicious!

Excellent fried chicken and mac & cheese.

If you like KFC, but prefer to support a small business, this is the place to go. Harvest Fried Chicken is a very solid fried chicken counter with good sides that are toned down from the artificial and oversalted likes of KFC. I keep referencing KFC because the chicken appears to be made in a similar style (pressure-fried I believe?) and a lot of the sides offered (potato wedges, mac n cheese, green beans) seem to emulate their selection. Killer cornbread and toned down sides that let their natural flavors speak for themselves (in place of salt and MSG) show a lot of restraint, and cooking skill. If that didn't already sound delectable enough, the prices here are outstanding. So to recap, a fried chicken joint you can eat-in or take out of, with above average chicken and very good sides at close to fast food chain prices? I'm in and so should you be.

Simply the best chicken joint in the area... hands down! I stopped in after work, and took home a 12 piece chicken meal (don't worry, it wasn't all for me). The young woman behind the counter was very friendly and the facility was well kept. The chicken is absolutely delicious, not sure how they cook it differently, but whatever they do works! The one downside is their sides. I got the mac-n-cheese and coleslaw, and was not impressed. To be fair they weren't bad, they just weren't good, just bland, nothing special. If you're ever in the area try your best to drop in for lunch or dinner; just stick to the chicken, don't bother with the sides.

Awesome chicken!!! Awesome side dishes too! It's very no frills, not very pretty inside, but the food makes up for it. The fried chicken is their best. It's really flavorful but at the same time it's nice and crunchy. Their chicken salad is also very good. Prices are very reasonable here and the food is worth it.

Swanson's Hungry Man fried chicken dinner is better than this stuff. After reading these reviews, I kinda knew what to expect from the sides, but I was anticipating amazing, pressure cooked chicken. The chicken, combined with the canned green beans (they could have at least doctored them up), instant mashed potatoes and an overly dense, sweet and smallish square of cornbread - left me wondering why I was even paying for this. Three platters and three drinks totaling at $25.00. Three Hungry Man classic fried chicken dinners might cost $8., plus dessert comes with it. Share a liter of soda and tag on another $2.00 and this meal not only is a better deal, but nearly tastes the same.

Nice place for chicken, if you want only chicken. I should give 4 stars if that is all I wanted for lunch. the sides were mediocre at best. The whole restaurant needs a cleaning, not particularly dirty or filthy just lots of dirt on windows, window sills. Bathroom needs to be bombed and with a do over also. If I came thru again I would get chicken take out and supply my own sides.

Seriously, the best fried chicken in a 50 mile radius. It's pressure cooked and is juicy and flavorful. The sides are classic (green beans, mashed potatoes...) and go perfect with the chicken.

The food is amazing, tastes home-cooked. The staff and customers are all very nice and the girls behind the counter even entertained my kids while we waited. We call ahead and have them prepare large orders for family parties several times a year. The prices are fantastic, you can't beat it.

Crazy good chicken! Beats kfc/Popeyes by miles. The sides are a bit bland. Gizzards are good too. I told the owner, mount airy inn needs to get some lessons on how to fry chicken.

My brother brought home the fried chicken, green beans, and macaroni&cheese. This is some of the best fried chicken that i have ever eaten! the green beans taste like what mom or grandma cooked at home...fresh and full of flavor. The mac&cheese was pretty standard.

The chicken is amazing, the only thing that keeps the place from getting 5 stars are the sides, which are only OK.

We've tried this place several times, and it's remarkably good. Look, the decor sucks. Seriously, its chicken theme looks like a 90-year-old grandma decorated a leased space in a strip mall. After dark, the fluorescent lights do nothing to make the place cheery, either. But get past all that. Or just get the food to go. Because seriously, the food is amazing. Their specialty is the fried chicken, which is crispy outside, juicy inside, and just enough grease to add that extra bit of flavor to the meat, and your fingertips. I haven't tried the wings or grilled chicken, but I have no doubt those would also stand on the same pedestal as the fried chicken. You'll also want to save room for the sides. Things like the coleslaw and baked beans are great accents (especially with big chunks of pork in the beans), or just go whole-hog and get a big serving of the creamy mac & cheese. The staff is always friendly and patient while you peruse the menu, while the people in line behind you may not be. When in doubt, let them go first - trust me, it's worth the wait. Definitely a place that should be added to your regular rotation.

Look past the cheezy decor to indulge in awesome Southern fare. Fried chicken & cole slaw are the best. Kids love the huge potato wedges. The place was not created by some genius restraunteur, but by a guy who loves to make good fried chicken for people who like good fried chicken. This is not health food or we'd go more than a couple times a month. Good home-syle country cookin' for eat-in, carry-out or take to a picnic. A vegetarian friend buys Harvest Chicken's coleslaw for pot lucks or picnics.
