So sad. I'm on my "moving to North Carolina" food tour and stopped by today for a Panino sub. The proscuitto was filled with fat and stringy stuff. I'm so upset. I wanted this to be a fond farewell and the sub is going in the trash. Perhaps Filppo's changed vendors/food suppliers since changing their name from Marchone's to Filippo's Italian Specialties. Awful. Don't get me wrong. Service is fabulous. Quality of food has tanked.

Mmmmm.... Subs... Cookies... I needed GPS to find this place. It's off on a side street and I would have never known it was there!! On the outside, it looks like it has no frills... And well it doesn't. Just good food. Went in and the sub orders are done in the back. I ordered the cold cut and had the sub maker make it the way it should be made! I was being open minded and trusting that I would get the best sub possible. And it was. The bread was brushed with oil and a thin coat of hot peppers. The meat and other toppings complimented it nicely. Yum! If you're not going to eat yr sub right away-- tell them. They can give you the oil and hot peppers on the side... And you can put them on right when you're going to eat it. The staff was very friendly. Last- the cookies. Very good. Amaretti and lemon drops... Tasty. I should have tried more!!

I'm originally from the DC area, and whenever I'm back in town, I always make sure to stop by Filippo's. I've tried most of the delis various people have told me are good(Santucci's, Continental, etc), and I have to say Filippo's is decisively the best. The main attraction at Filippo's is the cold cuts, of which there are a decent variety. I usually opt for the traditional italian with capiccola, salami, and provolone, although all the sandwiches I've tried have been excellent. The quality of the meats is top notch, and the proportioning of the ingredients is ideal. The sandwiches are neither overly loaded up with meat so that you can't taste anything else, nor drenched in oil until the bread is soggy. I also appreciate that Filippo's offers cherry peppers for a touch of heat rather than the pickled banana peppers offered by many sub shops, which I find too sour. Do note that Filippo's makes their cold cuts Jersey-style with oil-based deli dressing, so if you want mayonnaise you have to ask(and yes I will judge you). There are two options for bread: hard and soft rolls(except on Sundays when there are no hard rolls). The soft rolls are great, although after several hours they can start to get a little soggy from the oil and veggies. Still, if you buy a sandwich intending to eat it in the near future, it won't be an issue. The hard rolls are tasty but I find them a bit too hard to make good sandwiches. The space also houses a small Italian grocery. I haven't bought many of the canned/jarred Italian items, but it is convenient if you decide you want to pick up some chips or a drink with your sandwich. And Filippo, the owner, is refreshingly amiable in an area not known for its friendly shopkeepers. He makes small talk, remembers regulars, and is great with kids. All in all, if you want a cold cut and you're in the Wheaton area, Filippo's is the choice. You won't be disappointed.

Hubby is 50% Jersey Italian. He's been on the hunt for authentic Italian subs ever since he could drive a car. He's found his holy grail. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and were greeted by a counter full of meats and fresh cannoli, ready to be filled. We ordered an Italian sub and a sausage sub, Filippo gave my daughter a cookie while we waited. So delicious. Fast service, fresh, authentic, QUALITY ingredients. Filippo told us that he gets all his items shipped from the source, basically Italy and Jersey. H was a little disappointed in the bread, until Filippo told us you can order your sub with hard Italian bread, you just have to ask! We took some cannoli's to go, resisted the urge to buy another sandwich to take home. Filippo is such a sweet man, he treats you like you're family! We will be back.

Marchone's has subs like nowhere else I've been around here. The cold cut -- with everything: lettuce, tomato, mayo, onion, hot peppers, and oil and vinegar -- is incredible! The small size is actually decently large, and only $5.50. I don't know if it's the type of oil and vinegar they use, or what, but I love these. On that note, they have oil, vinegar, tomato sauce, bread, assorted meats and cheeses, and everything else you could possibly want from an Italian deli. And there's a huge variety of it all. While their subs are totally rave-worthy, it's primarily a deli market not a restaurant. There are a couple tables in the back and some seating nearby outside, but I usually just take it to go. Up by the registers there's a counter full of assorted cookies and other desserts. It's hard to leave without picking up a couple, and you probably shouldn't.

So I've always seen this shop. I've seen it on yelp for a while too.. Bookmarked it for a while.. Finally got the chance to visit! The bf loves Italian cold cuts.. I'm indifferent about them. He ordered a large cold cut with everything and extra hots. The total was almost 18$. I ordered the Pacino the same way. The Pacino is.. A different cold cut. Not the traditional meats that a traditional cold cut has. My Pacino had prosciutto and two diff cuts that I can't remember.. We took our subs to Wheaton regional park to enjoy the weather. The drive was about ten mins.. The subs held up well. My sub didn't look spectacular but it tasted really good! My bf and I switched halves and then ended up switching back because we preferred the sub we ordered. I really enjoyed the prosciutto part of the sub. It made the "cold cut" so much better imo. They had a good amount of lettuce, a couple slices of tomatoes, really thin white onions, perfect amount of extra hots (not totally overpowering the sub), Italian seasoning, oil and vinegar was perfect for my liking! The owner chatted with us.. He was pretty funny. I honestly couldn't tell if he was dead serious, semi serious, or totally joking.. Lolol he was chatting about his wife and how the ladies all gang up on him.. He was giving advice and complaining (in a way) to my bf. It was amusing. He said they are there everyday.. He seemed happy and upbeat. Definitely seem like he enjoys what he does. That made me even happier to be at this delicatessen. So... Best Italian cold cut/cold cut variation I've ever had! My bf will say it's second best to this little shop he went to in dc but could only remember the name as "subs" (lol not helpful)! Deffffffinitely will come back. If not for the food then to see if the owner has anything funny to say! *the picked olive medley look soooo good (8$~ a pound) .. But a large sub was way too much food to be eating. Next time!

Whenever I think "authentic Italian", this place ALWAYS comes to mind. Let's start with their sandwiches and subs... I have tried almost every sandwich on that menu, and there isn't one that's disappointing. The hot meatball sub is incredible, and they surprisingly make a very good cheesesteak w/onions and peppers. The cold sandwiches are also fantastic with the in house chicken salad sub being a go to for me. Their flagship Panino is a ridiculous amalgamation of meats and cheeses that may not allow you to leave the parking lot without taking a bite. Hungry yet? But wait... there's more.. Their well rooted Italian traditions come oozing through in all their products. I've made a pizza from scratch from this place and from the dough, to the sauce, to the cheese, to the remaining accouterments, there wasn't anything that failed. Wrap this entire establishment up by speaking with one of the friendliest gentlemen you'll come across, and there's no denying the awesomeness of this place. Simply put... go.

Uh oh... Santucci's has some serious competition with this place. My husband and I each got a coldcut sandwich with everything to go, and it was SO delicious! How is it different from Santucci's, you ask??? (1) It's less expensive - Filippo's large sammy is $8.45, while Santucci's large is $9.75; (2) It's less oily - while I love olive oil, Santucci's tends to be a little too generous, which can lead to oily/soppy bread if you don't eat it immediately; (3) It's less spicy - I'm latina, so I love love love hot peppers, but I almost cried after a bite of WAAAAAY too many hot peppers on a Santucci's coldcut; (4) It's more of an authentic Italian deli experience when you get to meet and speak to the incredibly kind owner, Filippo. He seems to know almost everyone who walks in the door... their names, their stories. It's adorable, and so is his accent.

Clean & well-organized Italian grocery. They have ingredients you need for your homemade dinner or you can buy their frozen meals if you don't want to do all the cooking works yourself. Their meatball sub is solid. Good sauce and nice meatball consistency. They also have some bakery items, like, cookies and cannolis. And, yes, they do have Manhattan special coffee soda!!! Please check it out for a unique taste from Brooklyn.

This is a great place in Wheaton. It looks a bit odd when you get in there as its both a place to buy mostly Italian foods and also a sandwich joint. The meatball sub here is great because the bread is awesome. As a small store we've often used it to buy ingredients for Italian meals and the owners are real Mom and Pop types and a delight to talk to. Its been around a long time for a good reason. Note: The area to eat sandwiches in is a little small and grim, this is a better place to get take out.

Love the cold cut sub. I recommend you get it with 'everything'. The owner is very personable and friendly. When I went in at Christmas time for speciality candy to ship to my brother in Afghanistan, he gave me extra goodies so that my bro could share with his friends!

My Favorite Italian Cold Cut Sub on earth! I have eaten here for decades (when it was still Marchone's). I have eaten 100's of this sub! I am for the most part, a fishetarian (no fur, no feathers). HOWEVER, if a friend offers to go get a cold cut sub... I go! (Other than Thanksgiving, THIS is the only time I stray from my preferred diet. THAT'S how good they are!) The shop also has a large selection of Italian specialty products. They have a lot of great cheeses by the pound. )A bit pricey on the cheese, but top quality.) Filippo is a great guy and will tell you about the history of the store and of course, he's Italian! I wish I could give 6 stars!

This is where you go to get a cold cut beth just as good as what you remember getting when you were a kid. The reason why, is that it's run by the same family since 1955. The name has changed, but it's still the great Italian delicatessen and sandwich shop it's always been. Mr Leo is a good guy, and he always has a smile! He knows his customers by name. On the 19th of March its St Joseph's Feast day. During this time, he makes an Italian specialty called a Zeppole... Worth driving interstate for. But he only makes them during this time.

Nestled away, in the little perfect triangle that is in the Wheaton neighborhood, sits a small shop that has been around actually for quite awhile. Marchone's does sell quite a bit of Italian grocery items, some decent olive oil and the like is around. Some frozen pastas are in the freezer with sauces, with things like mannicotti and ziti, but unfortunately there is no fresh homemade pasta here for sale. It was nice to also see the get their canoli shells from Vaccaros. There is a good solid ham and cheese counter (boy that rosemary ham looks tempting), but the real attraction is in the back. I was first introduced to the subs here at a party. A giant one that was I swear 3 table lengths long was ordered and we all were devouring it like crazy. Finally stopped by to grab one and it doesn't disappoint. The prosciutto I am not sure where it's from, but the bread is solid, and other types work out well such as the cold cut. The bread is soft and delicious. A great solid sandwich shop and worth it for a nice bite. I will always grab a Panino.

I have been going to Marchones for over ten years if not longer. I went the other day to get my favorite Italian sub. When I got home and ate it something is different it didn't taste good like it used too. Don't know what they didn't put on it but was not as good as it used to be. Funny I was talking to three other people and they said the same thing. I guess no more cold cuts from there

I've been coming for 32 years. Best subs. Best service. Amazing cheese, Italian grocery selection and prepared foods. Don't let the name change fool you from Marchone's. Same owner- Filippo has been a mainstay for all of the years I have been there. His wife also helps to run the business. The prices are good. There is plenty of free parking. He has amazing lunch specials. I encourage everyone to come and try subs, homemade sauces or the pastries. Yum yum!!!

When I have Italian guests, I go here to get recipes and ideas. Fillipe makes recommendations, writes a foolproof recipe on a brown paper bag, and fills the bag with the ingredients. Great products and personal service. I love this place. Don't forget the bread!

I had a large Pacino. Having lived in Chicago for several years, my standards for Italian subs are on the higher scale. I felt Filippo's was on par with most Italian subs I've had but a reach from outstanding. The sub was also on the pricier side.

Awesome subs, okay service. After picking up my car for basic service nearby, we stopped in here to grab some grub. Like others have already mentioned, the cover on this book probably won't inspire you, but the positive reviews of what's inside will. I decided to try a large Panino sub with everything on it but onions. I verbally said it and the girl behind the counter verified it back to me. After paying at the front, we grabbed one of the small tables and I opened my sub to find it covered with...onions. I realize it's not a big deal, but it's frustrating when you specifically order something and it comes out wrong, especially from someone whose English is less than stellar. However, after yanking them off the sub and taking my first bite, I quickly forgot all about it. The taste of all three sliced meats combined with lettuce, tomato, chopped peppers and plentiful oil/vinegar dressing made my stomach smile in conjunction with my mouth. I didn't plan on eating the whole thing there, but that plan was thrown out the window as I eventually looked down at the blank, drenched deli paper. If all of their sandwiches are as good as this one, I can see why this MID is popular, even if the subs aren't necessarily on the cheap side. Plus, they have a ton of quality sauces and varieties of pasta for sale you probably won't find at your local supermarket. So, carb lovers stop by and rejoice.

Went here based on the reviews. I got the Cold Cut and an Italian Sausage sub. Both were good, especially the seasoning on the cold cut. In speaking with one of the sandwich makers she mentioned this store has been around for decades. They make a good sandwich and the customer service was great.

When I went in to the Deli ...didn't know what to order but the owner suggested the cold cut trio to me.... He told me if I didn't like it he would refund me my money times 3! All of the staff there was really kind and that's a plus in my book !!!! Needless to say I got home and took a bite of of my sandwich and I totally love it !!! The bread is so fresh and the sandwich as a whole is really tasty !! I will definitely visit again soon!!!!

I was so excited to find out about this little gem while perusing reviews. I'm from upstate NY, which is the land of Italian bakeries. I didn't realize it would be so difficult to find one around here. I'm used to melt-in-your-mouth Italian cookies, light and airy Italian bread, and amazing baked goods. My little one and I stopped in yesterday and picked up a loaf of Italian bread, a few Italian cookies, and a sub. The cookies were very good. I wish they had a larger selection but overall I was really happy with them. I ordered a turkey sub with provolone, mayo, lettuce ,onion, and Italian dressing. The bread was nothing special but I liked the crunchiness of the bottom. Unfortunately, I'm a gigantic klutz and dropped the sub face down on the floor when I was unwrapping it in my kitchen, so most of the lettuce, onion, and dressing were lost. :( I thought it was really good, and I'm sure it would have been even better had I not dumped all the good stuff out. At least now I have a valid reason to go back again and try another one!

When I was a kid, this place was called Marchone's and, in fact, it was still called that until this past year. But regardless of the name change, their Italian subs are, and have always been, the best around. I always order the Panino, which is a type of an Italian cold cut sub. They do serve hot sandwiches also, but I've never had anything else than the cold cut because it's been their specialty for as long as I can remember, and they've been open since 1955. The meats and bread are always fresh, and the portion is amazing. This is one thick, hearty sub. I get mine with the works and I've never had to wait more than probably 5-6 minutes to get it. The owner, Filippo, is the nicest man you'll ever find anywhere. He even takes time to talk to me and shows me pictures of his kids on his phone, etc. His Italian accent is so thick you could cut it with a knife, but it only adds to the authenticity and charm of this amazing deli. If you're looking for the best Italian sub of your life, and you're in the area, look no further. Trust me on this. I haven't been disappointed in over 30 years of eating subs from this deli.

Today I stopped by the old Marchones, now Filippo's Italian Specialties. I ordered two Italian subs to go. I specifically ordered the subs with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and hot chilli peppers. no Italian oil. When I returned home, the subs were dripping with oil, soggy vegetables, and no hots. Gross. I am not happy. And I'm not going back. What happened to the Italian staff???

Marchone's recently changed to Fillipo's, but the ownership is the same & it is still excellent. Get the roast beef with light mayo & hot peppers! The tiramisu is excellent & we will sometimes get a frozen pasta dish to go.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall but there's lots of good stuff in here! They had refrigerated (but homemade) pastas here that were good to bring to lunch ($7.95-$8.95 average) such as baked ziti, spaghetti with meatballs, stuffed shells, lasagna, chicken parm, eggplant parm, etc. I ended up just getting the tiramisu and didn't find out it was $4.99 until I got to the register. It was not big so I was shocked but I find it really embarrassing to be like "never mind it's too expensive," so I got it. Boy... It was worth the $4.99!! I will be back for it and along with some pastas. Oh they also have homemade dough here!

Been coming here for years when I worked in Wheaton. Small shop but huge on food. Everything is fantastic and gourmet on a perfect budget. Highly recommend the Italian Cold Cut. Make sure to get the large as you finish one half and are wanting more immediately after, they are that good. The owner is extremely friendly and knows people by name. #1 place in the DC/MD/NOVA area for a lunchtime sandwich.

We live right in the middle of two excellent Italian Deli's. Yes, anything on Triangle Lane can justifiably be termed a hole in the wall but when you read about GENERATIONS shopping there for the quality Italian products, surely you can overlook the 'hood? Sunday evening we had been out and about and I promised my husband I'd make him a meatball sub. MY meatballs. I always make extra and freeze them uncooked and I had taken them out to thaw for just this purpose but the day had gotten long. I suggested he pull in so we could buy a roll and some good cheese and also a jar :::gasp::: of marinara. THAT seemed to be where he drew the lind so what I did was a jar and some canned crushed tomatoes and I dressed it up and simmered it a la ME at home but you can't beat their prices - their meats - their sandwiches - their PRODUCT! And the cannoli? Picture the fingers scrunched up and me kissing them in the air a la Sopranos and you've got it! ;) My daughter is to cannoli like I am to calamari - when we move we have to find the BEST in the area and THIS is it for cannoli. If you close your eyes you might find yourself in Little Italy somewhere and not downtown Wheaton!

This place is a GOD SEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up in an area with a large Italian population, so naturally my idea of a good sandwich has nothing to do with PotBelly's or Subway. When I stumbled on this place today--I was ECSTATIC!!!! Ordered a turkey and cheese sub- the bread was clearly made today. The sandwich was great, just what I was looking for. The customer service was characteristic of a true family owned business as well. The owner there was so sweet and suggested on my next trip I try the Italian Combo and I will! Oh did I mention he made me a fresh canoli...I'm talking piped it while I was standing there and yes, it was delicious. You need to check them out! I am so happy I did.

This place is a wonderful gem in Wheaton. The deli counter makes an excellent italian sub (called a panino). The cannolis are amazing. We buy our pizza dough here (it's such a high quality thatit never tears on me!) and hard to find items like polenta and also ladyfingers for tiramisu. Their hot sausage is great on the grill or cut up in a pasta dish. The staff is very friendly and the owner is always around and willing to give some advice about how to prepare the store's products. We tried their frozen chicken parmesan and it was above average for a frozen entree and enough for two. My husband and I have taken to visiting every two-three weeks for lunch on the weekend and to pick up any of the italian grocery items we need. Shopping here makes you feel good about supporting a small business.

The best italian butter cookies and cold cuts around!

I like their subs just fine, but I LOVE their cookies!! Perfect amaretti, delicious chocolate covered ones with filling, sprinkles, love 'em. Oh, they also have great Italian grocery specialties for very reasonable prices.

Not that the bar is set very high in the DMV but Marchones makes one of the better Italian hoagies in the area. In fact all their sandwiches are solid. What holds them back from being great is the bread. It is way too soft and not a true crusty Italian roll. If you want that then go to Pasta Plus in Laurel which makes fantastic bread that is crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. That said if you are in the vicinity of Marchones you can do a whole lot worse.
(3)
S A.
Best Italian-style subs in the area. I like the Panino, but be sure to order it with the hot peppers, which aren't super hot and really complete the flavor of the sub. The owners/employees are super nice!

I have been coming here on the day of Christmas Eve with my grandpa for as long as I remember. The owner remembers us and comes out and says hello even though we are only in once a year. We get the fresh mild and hot Italian sausage, plus the fresh italian bread for our Christmas Eve tradition. Grandpa has since passed on but we will continue to come to Marchones to keep his tradition alive.

On my way to my sicilian grandmother's birthday party recently I thought it would be a nice detour to pull over and grab some cannoli. A quick google search for "italian deli" turned up Marchone's, which was on the way. I showed up at the party with the fresh cannoli and other baked treats. When my aunt met me at the door and I told her where the stuff came from, she about hit the floor. Turns out that whole generation shopped Marchone's for decades. The cannoli was a big hit and a very welcomed trip down memory lane. Who knew? I've been back now several times to sample the baked and frozen goods, all are excellent. Based on the yelp reviews here I'll have to make it to the back of the store for the meatball and italian subs! Salute!

Nothin' hotter than a tasty cold cut! I picked up a couple party platters here for a Yelp event, and as soon as I walked in and smelled the meaty, Italian aromas, I knew I'd found a legit spot. In fact, some childhood memories were stirred in the deep recesses of my food brain - yep, I'd been here before. This is a little mom-and-pop Italian deli (literally, I talked to the husband when I placed my order and negotiated a little dealski, and I met the wife when I went to pick up the goods - both super warm and friendly) near Wheaton mall, easy to miss in a little strip mall, and definitely fits the profile of a hidden gem. They make Italian subs fresh to order, and there's a display case with stuff like fresh cannolis and cookies and pastas and cheese. There's also other Italian grocery items for home-cooking. The party platter subs were good, fresh bread, enough meat, etc. There's only so much you can do to make sub samples special, but they included red pepper sauce, onions, and oil & vinegar on the side (they'd asked if I'd prefer on the side or on the subs), and that definitely made it more of a special eating experience. The oil and vinegar especially was taaaasty. I have an Italian deli right by my house (Santucci's) that's also authentic, family-owned and delicious, and this place reminds me a lot of it. Next time I'm in the Wheaton area, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what they can do with a fresh-made, hot sub - judging by the reviews here (and those faint childhood memories), it's gonna be pretty awesome. Looking forward to updating, hopefully with another star!

Reviewers will debate whether Marchone's or Santucci's has the better Italian sub, but I go with Marchone's because they use better ingredients. They ditch the mortadella for capicola ham and they use oil and vinegar instead of the creamy italian dressing that Santucci's uses as a shortcut. Note: The 3 and 6 foot party subs are great for big gatherings, too, but be aware that you get *a lot* of thick bread, so they aren't as tasty as the normal ones. I've had crowd of 11 fail to conquer the 6-foot sub. In the win column for the competition, Santucci's does have some seating, whereas Marchone's is strictly carry-out. There are a few outdoor tables nearby, that are serviceable in warmer weather, though you will have no place to wash your hands. Marchone's also does a decent job of being an Italian grocery. They have a bakery section with fresh breads and great cookies and a good selection of specialty stuff like salted capers that you are not going to find in the "ethnic" aisle at Safeway.

Super yum!!! Great subs and canolis!! Looks like a great selection of frozen dinner meals too - to pick up on a rushed weeknight or to bring to friends who just had a baby!! Not quite Vaccaro's in Cleveland Park, but it's really convenient for the Wheaton / Kensington crowd! Definitely returning!!

WOW!!! This is as authentic as it gets in this area when it comes to an Italian deli. My sub was excellent and I got to brush up on my rarely used Italian with the lovely gentleman behind the counter. I'm literally speechless. That's a hard feat for me by the way. I'm thinking of starting a tradition that incorporates this place for my future generations to come. My offspring will love me!!!

I love this place. I've grown up in the Wheaton area and can't tell the amount of times I've been here. It's an institution and for good reason. As a kid I grew up eating the cookies my parents would by from them. Now I stop by to have a cold cut or a steak and cheese whenever I can. If you are from the area you already know how good it is. If not then you owe it to yourself to drop by and give it a try.
(5)
Erin T.
This place is a hole in the wall but they have really great subs. They have real Italian cold cuts, yummy cheese steaks and tasty cookies. The owners are almost always there to welcome you and are very friendly. Just be careful to make sure you pay up the parking meters since someone lives in that parking lot issuing tickets. If you want something other than Chinese or Mexican food this is your best bet for a sandwich in Wheaton.
(4)
Laurie W.
I grew up on Marchone's, took ballet at the Wheaton Studio of Dance next door, and now that I stop in to get lunch on my way back to work sometimes, it is still magnificently the same. Some places you give five stars because they're the best cold cut ever found in cold cut land anywhere of all time. Some places you give five stars because it's the standard for amazing cold cut subs in your personal lifetime, along with pungent, delicious olive salad from the deli case, and because walking in this place makes you feel better about being alive because it still smells and feels exactly the same. Guess which place this is? (Although it's kinda both at this point, can't lie.) (Get hot peppers and oil and vinegar, for sure.)
(5)
Ryan K.
Love the smell when you walk in this place. Their sauce is what makes then stand out, so look for things that highlight this. For me, that means the Meatball Parm, which is outstanding. The Italian Cold Cut is solid, as are their other sandwiches. But I think you need to hit the Meatball if this is your first trip. Their lasagna, ziti, manicotti, stuffed shells are all fantastic. Again, the sauce. The staff is super friendly.

Zeppole and Italian meats and a sub shop with frozen selections readily available...man I would say this is a winner in the middle of downtown Wheaton! So we have the delicious meatball subs that they have in the back,I personally like it on a hard roll with fresh mozzarella heavy on the sauce....best meatballs in the area. What really makes this place is the owners....they are happy and willing to accommodate in every way to make you happy. I think that this is a gem in the neighborhood and I try to frequent it as much as possible. Once again love to just pop in there and say hello. The zeppole is great during the holiday seasons. Really give this place a run, you will not regret it. Cheers!
(3)
Kimarie C.
I could not believe my eyes!! They had St. Joseph's Zeppole for St. Joseph's day!! Considering that this is a holiday that is primarily celebrated by Sicilians, I was blown away that they were even available!! Speaking from the perspective of an Italian woman born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island and recently relocated to Kensington, MD, it has not been easy to find authentic Italian ANYTHING in this area. I have all but given up on finding good pizza, but these zeppole were absolutely OUTSTANDING! Not just as good as I remember, but hands down one of the best I have ever eaten! The owner is super friendly, and my husband gets to speak in Italian with him when we visit. So for subs, frozen dishes, Italian groceries and the like, this place is it! Grazie!

Repeatedly, this place, which is mainly an Italian grocery store, makes the most wonderful Italian subs I have ever had. The ingredients are the best, and the recipe is the ideal balance of meats, cheese and vegetables, on wonderfully fresh bread. I've been eating the subs here since I was a youngster, and I love this place. They have a few tidy tables in the corner, too, so you can enjoy your subs immediately, and a nice assortment of sparkling water and fruit beverages. They also have a wonderful assortment of great Italian pastries and cookies, perfect for desert. The food is very filling- you won't go away hungry. The display cases are always impeccably clean and display a wonderful variety of fine imported Italian delicacies. Highly recommended!

The mozzarella and tomato sandwich was good. I ordered it with extra sweet peppers. I think the best Subs come from a place called Zero's. So I tend to compare all subs to this place. The bread is soft here, but good. Would like the sweet peppers a bit sweeter but everything was still fresh and good. I'll keep trying other Italian subs elsewhere...as I look to find the best. Or I should have ordered the "Cold cut" sandwich which seemed to be the most popular being ordered while I was waiting for mine. Forgot to mention- I will come back for their fresh Cannolis though! The pastry was sooo good and the filling was absolutely wonderful. Of course I ordered desert right?!!

I'm very sad to report that I was very underwhelmed by this place. While excited for an Italian deli- I'm from Newark, de, and blessed with good sub & hoagie shops- this place had very little to offer. Sub- vegetarian - had no flavor. Why do dc area italian delis ans restaurants taste so bland? Bread was soggy 30 minutes after being made & not crispy. Remember, Homer Simpsons' sub he saved under the sofa? I asked for extra sweet & hot peppers the secret of a great sub with good bread, oregano & oil, and got pickles. Subway makes a better sandwich. there are cookies, but limited and very little marinated veggies. Looks like santucci's in four corners will have to do - it's good, not great for dc area. Otherwise, closest good place is DiPasquales in Baltimore. That said, the frozen eggplant par,a was really tasty.

Thanks to the Yelpers for recommending another delicious eatery! We just realized how close this place was to our house and decided to stop one night to get some subs. They were pretty awesome for a sandwich! The rolls were nice and soft, but still had a nice firmness to them. There is a decent selection to choose from and the prices are extremely reasonable. It's a carryout place, so no seating on the inside. As mentioned, they also have a dry goods section with pasta, cookie and other Italian yummy goodness. They also have a deli section to get sliced meats and cheeses. I now know where to come next time I need that! The cookies in the bakery case also looked delicious, but we decided to try a canoli instead...very good! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This place is great for what it is - a shop that serves Italian specialties. I had the italian sausage sub and it was spectacular. The large is enough to feed two people and is less than $8. The owner asked about my Italian heritage and taught me something I did not know about where my ancestors came from. Truly a gem in Wheaton!! I will keep going back regularly for sausages, cheeses, spumoni and other delights.

The best Italian Cold Cut around!! The bread and meat was fresh!!

If this is authentic Italian deli style food then I'd rather not have authentic. My meatball sub was oily and soggy. It lacked flavor. The small cannoli for $1.50 was barely larger than my thumb; it was good but it wasn't worth $1.50. I work a few blocks away from Marchones and this is not the first time I tried them. I have been sorely disappointed each and every time.

We used to come here all the time for serious Italian sammies. They ain't as good as they used to be but, the competition around here is slim. You won't be sorry with the italian cold cut.

You just cant find an italian sub this good around MD/DC. my mother, and her mother, born in italy, both love this place, and have been eating here since the 1950s. According to my mom, the sandwiches used to be even tastier. Regardless, One of the best italian if not the best italian sub ive ever had. so delicious and authentic.

Pretty delicious Italian sub, considering the area. The bread could have been better. The meatball sub did not live up to the hype, but I would go again for the Italian sub. Really friendly service, as well. If you love cold cut sandwiches, you should try this place out.

the staff was super friendly and even recommended a sandwich when I looked overwhelmed. This place looks and smells like a great deli. I got the cold cut sub aka Italian and it was delicious. The also have nice Italian cookies and sweets.

If someone comes to visit me and trusts me to feed them something that they'll remember, I'll take them to Marchone's. THIS IS THE ULTIMATE COLD CUT JOINT ANYWHERE! It's been in the same Wheaton location since at least the late 50's, has the best baked goods (cookies especially), and if you're looking to cook an authentic Italian meal, you need to shop here (and if you're too lazy to cook they make their own dinners and freeze them for you to take home). That's all well and good, but the reason this place is what it is is the sandwich counter in the back. You'd almost miss it if you weren't looking for it. If Heaven had a sandwich counter... it would be this one. You should really just get a cold cut and leave it at that but the menu has everything you can think of except a chicken parm hoagie (which I always thought weird not to have but I digress). My brother swears by their roast beef and their new philly cheese steak isn't too bad either. Did I mention that this place gets it's 5th star for the "double meat" feature? You'll pay a little more but they practically put another whole portion of meet on your sandwich. If sometimes you just can't get enough meat, Marchone's is your place. Staff could not be nicer and is still owned and operated by the gentlemen that opened the place. They do a fantastic party sub for your office or house party too. There's no seating in the place but there's a green area with picnic benches on the other side of the parking lot if you don't want to go far. You'll definitely make a mess if you try to eat one in your car. Prices are totally reasonable. You'll pay 5-6 bucks for a 6 inch and 7-8 for a foot long but I think thats totally fair (if not a little cheap) for the quality you're about to put in your stomach. Anyways, I can't speak enough about this place. A cold cut with the works from Marchones would be on my short list for my last meal on earth. A must try!

This update is for the homemade sauce that the owner's wife makes and the makes-you-want-to-slap-ya-mama-cause-it's-so-Âamazingly-good-amaretti cookies. This place makes me happy.

Should be a crime to mangle a sandwich like that (and let's face it, it's not complicated). Get this: I asked for onions and mayo on my Philly cheese steak, and they put the mayo ON TOP OF the melted cheese. Disgusting. Oozed out in my hands as I ate it, uber-hungry and too broke to pitch it. Meat was tasteless and unseasoned, hoagie roll the immediately collapsible sort, ordinary American cheese and not enough of it, undercooked yet greasy onions....all of it disappointing at a premium price, but the dealkiller was the mayo added as an afterthought, from someone too lazy to schooch the meat over and put it where it belongs. (There was so little cheese on it, this would have been easy.) Yikes. Isn't there ANYWHERE to get a decent cheese steak in the metro DC area? Colonial Pizza makes something my 11 year-old nephew finds palatable, but let's face it, he's not that discriminating. Since that shop near U-MD closed, you're only sure fire bet is to drive 5 hours to Philly. Ridiculous. And even my nephew wouldn't eat the cheese steak Marchone's prepared.

I found this place on one of those days where you aren't sure what you want to eat, yet you know you have to eat because you are so hungry. Two buddies and I went inside this establishment and were greeted by the employees there. They were all very friendly. I got the italian sausage sub, which included onion, red peppers, and a sauce which I can't remember. It was hot and delicious. It was also a good deal for the price you pay, which I believe came to be around $7. There is a small sit-in area there, which was very convenient. This place is also a supermarket, and they sell all type of pastas, cheese, and anything Italian. The parking outside this place is convenient, but it can get pretty busy, and beware that it's not free parking; parking is coin-operated, so bring coins, or else you'll get a parking ticket, which is ridiculously too much for parking. My buddy found that out the hard way when he came back and saw a $75 ticket on his windshield. That left a sour taste in our mouth, but can't blame that on this establishment. I'd definitely come back here when I'm in the area again.

AH-MAZ-ING. THE ITALIAN COLD CUT WITH MAYO, OIL/VINEGAR AND RED PEPPERS. So I guess my family has been going here for more than 10 years. By unanimous request, my Mother and I were to bring these sandwiches to our day after Christmas celebration. We ordered early, thought they'd be just okay, but they were mind-blowing-ly good. Seriously. I'm now rather tragically sad that we don't live closer. I guess I'm just going to have to find more reasons to end up near the Triangle so I can get a hit of my new addiction. SO addictive. Really, you're not living until you've had these subs. Literally mountains above the other places that come to mind who "Think" they do the same thing. Try it. Then come and thank me. You're welcome in Advance.

Enjoyed a trip down Georgia Avenue to give Marchone's Italian deli a try. I enjoyed the experience. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the owner and went to the sandwich counter to order a 6 inch Italian Cold Cut. I bought my son some Italian Ice and we grabbed a seat - there are a few seats next the grocery aisle. I enjoyed the sub and and we bought some tasty Amaretti cookies on the way out. The store has good meats and cheeses and the cookies were a treat. I want to go again and try a meatball sub and buy some more of those Amaretti cookies to go !

I've lived in the DC area (Wheaton, Silver Spring, and Rockville) since 1985. So how is it that I am just now discovering Marchone's? I blame my parents! After complaining to a friend that there aren't any good Italian Delis in the area (aside from Bradley Food and Beverage, and Cornucopia in Bethesda), my friend recommended the Italian sub at Marchonce's in Wheaton. I had never heard of this place, but I've driven by it a million times. Apparently, they've been open since 1955 (57 years). While the Italian sub didn't blow me away, it was still a very good sandwich. I really don't think the sandwich is meant to blow you away anyway. They haven't reinvented the sandwich or added some fancy crème fraiche to it. It's just a simple solid sandwich that uses fresh ingredients...that's it. Anytime I have a craving for an Italian sandwich, I'm coming here.

Marchones does what its supposed to do and does it better than probably anyone. Fresh flavorful real newyork/Philly subs on Philly bread. Its one of the few reasons I visit Wheaton and a darn good one at that. Meatiball sub with peppers and onions is like the ones I had as a child and great value. The store looks like it should as if it came out of Little Italy before everything is commercialized. It handily beats the DC competition, believe me if you try them your hooked. I have pleaded with the owner to open up in DC so I wont have to travel up to Wheaton, but he has not as of yet agreed. Of all my reviews this one is as close as it gets to the real deal. And finally the owner Filippo is everyones best friend, always ready with a smile and he understands the basics of quality, consistency and great service. Bravo

Molto Bene!! I just went to Marchone's yesterday with my 12 year old son and we split a whole Italian sub. My son is a picky eater so the lady behind the counter happily made his half to his liking and wrapped them separately. Today he is begging to back there. I agree with him that it was about the best Italian sub I have ever had. Had a nice chat with the owner who was working the register, he is from Sicily and knows Italy very well as he traveled a lot during his time in the Italian Navy and the Merchant Marines. I live close by so we will be back often!

Decided to try this place based on Yelp and I am glad I did. I ordered the turkey and swiss with everything on it, very good meats and the oil and vinegar had a good flavor. Also tried a cookie which was excellent, will go back and try an Italian sub.

My family's been coming here for at least 25 years. When we throw a big family party it's the only place we come to get our Italian cold cuts, fennel sausage, olives--gotta stop, making myself hungry. Also love the dry goods selection. And the guys working the counter are an institution. Other Italian Deli's and shops might be closer but no one is better.

I have ordered one (and only one) thing in my many years of visiting Marchone's: The exalted and sensational Italian Cold Cut Sub. It is a perfect nest of wonderful, snuggled up in a real bakery roll. The salty, fleshy bite of cured meats is balanced by crunchy onions and lettuce; the tang of hot pepper relish by mellow, nutty provolone. Seriously, people. Go to Marchone's tomorrow so this place stays in business forever. Do they even serve other food? Are there jars on the shelves? Was the cash register manned by a grizzly bear? I'd hardly notice. I walk directly to the counter in the back and place my order: "Small cold cut, extra hot peppers." There's an older Italian guy who obviously owns the joint. I'm part Italian myself but can't even look him in the eye. He's a real Italian. He fills bellies. But I'm Italian enough to want to give him a hug, because that's what we do. I'd grab him and say, "Thank you for all the sandwiches, paisan. Grazie." Then compose myself, crimp my paper bag and shuffle out the door to lunch.

I thought this place was my little secret, but according to yelp, it is clearly not anymore. *tear I come here for the fresh cannolis (large/small size), the fresh pizza dough (come early because they are frozen and you need to thaw it before the pizza party), the fresh marinara sauce and the delicious huge italian subs you find in dirty new york. They also have fresh imported prosciutto which is SO much better than safeway. The people there are awesomely nice and they are able to give you suggestions on anything. You can also request mini samples of their deli meats, which is great if you want to try something new. Parking here is also really convenient. HUGE plus.

I was craving a meatball sub, and this place hit the SPOT! Everything about it was perfect - the softness and freshness of the bread, the flavor and texture of the meatballs, the sauce - it was all heaven. Really delicious.

I go here for the subs, which are great, the service is good although not always impeccable. The subs are worlds better than the fare you get at subway and as good as anything else I've had in the DC area. It is best to eat the subs right away. They don't travel very well, especially the hot ones, like the meatball sub or the sausage and peppers. If the weather is nice enough I usually grab a seat at one of the picnic tables in the small park next to the Wheaton Triangle parking lot and eat mine right there. In addition to the two hot subs I mentioned above I also recommend the Cold Cut sub. Depending on the day of the week and time of day you may have to wait in line for your sub. They also sell (freshly) baked goods but I've never tried them.

Best Italian sub in the entire DC/Metro area - hands down. And I've tried plenty... Leo, the owner is as friendly as can be. If you go in here for anything non-Italian, you are a fool! They do Italian stuff and they do it right and they do it well. You want a turkey sub? Go to subway...

Great hidden gem in Wheaton, MD. Lived here for a few years and heard about it...tried it....loved it. They also have the best cannoli's in the DC area!

I found this place after living in downtown Silver Spring for about 10 months. On my first trip, I had the meatball sandwich and a cannoli. The meatballs were ok, but it was a Sunday, so I didn't put too much concern into the quality. The cannoli was solid. Today, I had to run up to Wheaton for a trip on the Target Hellride, and having nothing at home for dinner, I decided to stop in again. This time, I got the cold cut. It was the best italian-style cold cut sub I've had in this city barnone. It alone is worth the trip and honestly, I don't know that I'll ever order anything else.

This is the BEST place to get a sub, in all DC, MD, and VA! Everytime I go here I recieve the best service, and the subs are huge and taste so FRESH and AMAZING! I would recommend sharing one, because the regular is huge and may be too much for one sitting. However, it doesn't stop me from attempting to do so, which I'm sure others would agree to :) I've never tried the cookies or the fresh cheeses or cold cuts, but I will say that coming from a Sicilian family who's very traditional, I know what good Italian food looks like. Marchone's is quality, no question about it.

I went to Marchone's on Friday. I only went to the bakery counter so I can't comment on the sandwiches/prepared foods. I was the only customer in there, but the woman working behind the counter seemed generally annoyed with my presence in the store, as if the 30 seconds it took me to decide what I wanted was pulling her away from much more important duties. Then a much friendlier gentleman who I took to be one of the owners came over and said hello. I ordered a loaf of bread and a selection of the Italian butter cookies. Everything was awesome. The prices seemed reasonable as well, although I haven't been to many bakeries in the area to get a good comparison. I will definitely go back there for more baked goods, and to try out the sandwiches. Food quality warrants five stars, I only downgraded to four stars because of the service. But ultimately it's a bakery/take-out place, so food quality is what matters the most.

fantastic! took other's advice and went with the cold cut italian sub, which did not dissapoint! Just a classic, delish sandwich. Also found an amazing selection of imported cold cuts (piked out some awesome genoa salami) and some great fresh bread. The owners are the sweetest people ever, looking forward to another visit soon!

Marchone's is awesome. Incredible subs, good italian finger cookies, and fresh italian food to go. Their meatball sub is excellent, as is the italian cold cut. If you want to healthier, even their simple stuff like an easy Turkey sub is very fresh and tasty. They also do very good mini cannolis as someone else mentioned. "leave the gun, take the cannolis" . Service is always excellent, as it is family owned. Anyways, Marchone's is awesome, sadly I am never in the Wheaton area to stop in.

Italian cold cut is the way to go here. Delicious! I order it with mayo and oil/vinegar. That sandwich is absolutely divine. Coming from an Italian family and my nonno owning mozarella cheese and tomato sauce factories, this sandwich is the closest to a legit Italian delicatessen. My father's boss, Department of Justice people, will travel from western MD to go to Marchones to stock up on their own fridge and/or get the works for work parties, faithfully, multiple times a year. Try this place!

As Catherine had said, some place never change. This little corner of the world has gone through a lot in the past 10 years, but Marchone's is still the corner stone. As far as I'm concerned, Marchone's only sells two things - an amazing, the all time BEST meatball sub EVER. That, and damn good cannoli's (although I'm not one for sweets, I always get a mini cannoli to balance the awesomeness of the meatball sub). Unfortunately, I don't get out here all to often, but at least once a year it's time for Marchone's.

Long story short, I asked the Italian lady behind the counter if they'd be able to do a platter of meats & cheeses for 4-5 people, to be picked up the next day. She was very helpful and pleasant and quoted me at $28.50 to include bread. However, when I returned after work the next day, the Italian guy copped a HUGE attitude with me from the minute I came in the door, talking about what a great deal I got for the price. OK, I thought. But when they brought the platter out, it was not what I had ordered. When I asked to see the order that the lady had written up from the previous day, I saw that someone had scratched out the price and up-charged me an additional $10. ARE YOU SERIOUS? WHO DOES BUSINESS LIKE THIS??? I then had to ask him to add in the missing items, for which he then charged me additional money. When I continued to question him about it, he kept getting increasingly angry with me; talking about what a favor they're doing for me b/c they "just don't do small platters like this." Riddle me this: How exactly are YOU doing ME a favor when you bring me something different than what I had ordered, at a higher price??? Evidently the right hand has no idea what the left is doing, and I am still wondering why there was so much hostility towards me. If there was a price misquote, then get mad at your wife since she was the one that took the order. Heck, you could have even called me to let me know that there had been a mistake & then presented me with the options moving forward. I too serve the public, and know that whenever "an issue" arises, I have to man up & admit my error, all while keeping my emotions in check. And this goes doubly so when you are a small business owner. I hope this guy's behavior was merely an aberration, and that he's not such a hot-head after all. Nonetheless, I'll likely never be back, as this is no way to treat paying customers!!! I would be embarrassed if I was him.

BEST cold cut around! Friendly owner and staff. Some nice Italian market items as well. Any chance I get I always expose new people to them. I just went to a concert with 9 of their subs in tow. 7 cold cuts and 2 others -- ALL got rave reviews! I picked up some grated cheese, olives, Italian antipasti and some homemade frozen meals while I was there too!

over 50 years in business and still going strong. i remember this place from when i was a wee little punk kid, back in the red necked days of ole wheaton. my first experiences weren't so fond, as i took a try at some of the italian treats and ice cream and found them to be odd, but as i got older, this became my stop for subs and cannolis. it had probably been about 10 years or so since i last stepped foot in here, when it dawned on me that i hadn't been to marchone's in over a decade. so i did what any self respecting father would, i picked up my little girl and took her down there for lunch. my little carnivore gulped down the meatballs from the meatball sub. she doesn't bother with the bread (apparently she is on the atkins diet). i inhaled my beautiful, sloppy italian sausage sub that gushed with peppers, onions, and sauce. of course, you can't end a lunch at an italian deli without a cannoli. ah, la dolce vita. a little side note - all the bread used for their subs comes shipped from a special bakery in philly. that's a sign of man that cares about the quality of his subs.

I found this little slice of heaven thanks to Yelp and oh. my. god. The subs, the cookies... and it's a 5 minute drive to work. I will be enormous by year's end.

During my 10 years away from the DC area lots of things have changed. Logan Circle has gone from Gil Scott-Heron's old home to Whole Foods central. Half of Rockville has been renamed "North Bethesda" in order to sell condos. Silver Spring has ripped the Tastee Diner from it's resting place and tried (yet again) to become hip. All this change can be a bit much for a girl who still wonders why the Orioles had to replace Memorial Stadium. So when I visit DC and hanker for The Place That Was I comfort myself with visits to the area's venerable institutions that neither time nor rising incomes have (thankfully) changed. Marchones, ahhh sweet and wonderful Marchones, is just such a place. Tucked in to a Wheaton strip mall (thank you, Wheaton, for at least keeping SOME things the same) that includes Barbarian Books and a random aquarium shop, Marchone's is a classic Italian sub shop with a small specialty grocery area and a baked goods counter. I assume the sub counter at the back of the store sells several different types of sandwiches. I wouldn't know for sure, however, since no one in my family has ever strayed from the Italian Cold Cut sub. We're a people of habit, my family (like the intro paragraph of this review didn't clue you in to that), and when we find something we like we stick with it. For thirty years, in this particular case. The cold cut-- as I order it, anyhow, is piled with meats and cheeses and accented perfectly with hot cherry peppers, spices and vinegar. The large sub is too big for one sitting, really, but that has never stopped me from downing the whole thing. It is difficult to turn away from perfection. I worry that one day "progress" will lead to the strip mall being bulldozed to be replaced with something more flashy and modern. What a horrible waste should that ever happen. Marchone's has been in Wheaton for over thirty years, serving quintessential cold cold subs and excellent cannoli. Let's hope it continues to do so for years to come.

A staple in Wheaton, around forever, Marchones is the real thing. You have to get their famous meatball and cheese sub or the classic italian. Not much on ambience, but it is what it is.

I first learned about Marchone's when I read an article about the Zepolli's the owner makes only around Saint Patricks Day. These delicious treats (deep fried pastries in 2 variations-one with cinnamon sugar, the other stuffed with a generous portion of canolli cream) are worth the year long wait. In the meanwhile, I go there for the outstanding Calypso Lemonade. This is the only store that I know of that sells this excellent lemonade, made with cane sugar, and in a large variety of flavors (Strawberry, Kiwi, Fruit Melon, Raspeberry, Blueberry, etc...) This lemonade is the best. That and a canolli can turn around any bad day.

The best sandwiches around; try the sausage and peppers. Take some cannolis and sesame cookies to go along with that sandwich, you will not be let down. A great italian deli in Wheaton. You can't see it from Geeorgia, you have to come down off Georgia into the Wheaton triangle. Fillipo, the owner, is terrific and takes a lot of pride in everything he does there. You will feel taken care of. One draw back is there is no seating; you have to get it to go.

The Marchone's Italian cold cut everyone is talking about here on Yelp is actually called a "Panino." I have been a regular at Marchones for years. My last trip was in July 2009, and the Panino was as good as ever. If you love curred meat subs, and live within 30 minutes of Wheaton, do yourself a favor and visit Marchone's for lunch today! Marchone's is only a block and a half from Metro. There are a couple of free parking spaces immediately in front of the entrance, and there is a very inexpensive metered parking lot across the alley.

This place has authentic Italian food in multiple forms. There are frozen dinners (dinners they cook from scratch & put in plastic containers (cheaper than a restaurant meal), imported processed/canned foods, deli counter with meats & cheeses & olives & fresh bread & desserts, and a lunch counter with sandwiches, chips and drinks. There aren't a tremendous amount of sandwich choices, but there is enough variety to find something (Italian) you like. The owner is very nice, as well as the other employees. My husband is Italian-America, and felt like he had found a small slice of home. We bought two sandwiches: he ordered the meatball, and I ordered the Italian sausage (both are hot). They were both delicious! They tasted very much homemade as opposed to something over processed and chain-restaurant-style. The large (a foot I think) sandwich is $7.??, and the small (6-8 inches) is $5.75. Absolutely worth it! We can't wait to go back to do more shopping and eating.

For all of you who have been going to Marchone's as long as I have the only possible complaint is that they did not offer Steak and Cheese Subs... Well my friends, the wait is over. Marchone's now sells the Steak and Cheese, and it is INSANELY DELICIOUS!!! Everyone knows that Marchone's has the best Italian cold cut hands down, and they are about to find out that their Steak and Cheese is the new number one in town!

Just walk in and take a deep breath! You'll know then you've come to the right place!

(5)Candy W.

(5)Amanda L.

(5)Jit K.
(5)Dustin T.
Clean, delicious, and friendly people. Had a meatball sub and it was fantastic. Everything you could hope for.

I guess no more cold cuts from there
(3)Katie N.
Yum yum!!!
(5)Andrea C.
When I have Italian guests, I go here to get recipes and ideas. Fillipe makes recommendations, writes a foolproof recipe on a brown paper bag, and fills the bag with the ingredients. Great products and personal service. I love this place. Don't forget the bread!
(5)Oluwole A.
I had a large Pacino. Having lived in Chicago for several years, my standards for Italian subs are on the higher scale. I felt Filippo's was on par with most Italian subs I've had but a reach from outstanding. The sub was also on the pricier side.
(3)Benjamin M.
(4)Melbourne B.
Went here based on the reviews. I got the Cold Cut and an Italian Sausage sub. Both were good, especially the seasoning on the cold cut. In speaking with one of the sandwich makers she mentioned this store has been around for decades. They make a good sandwich and the customer service was great.
(4)Annie M.

(5)Dan D.
(2)Lola J.
Just as good as I remember, maybe better. Got the cold cut and it is superb. Seats now too.
(5)Janny D.
Marchone's recently changed to Fillipo's, but the ownership is the same & it is still excellent. Get the roast beef with light mayo & hot peppers! The tiramisu is excellent & we will sometimes get a frozen pasta dish to go.
(5)Sisley C.
(4)Kevin S.
(5)Kal B.
(4)Nikkia G.
(5)Lindsey N.
(5)Chris N.
The best italian butter cookies and cold cuts around!
(5)Deb G.
I like their subs just fine, but I LOVE their cookies!! Perfect amaretti, delicious chocolate covered ones with filling, sprinkles, love 'em. Oh, they also have great Italian grocery specialties for very reasonable prices.
(4)Michael H.
(3)S A.
Best Italian-style subs in the area. I like the Panino, but be sure to order it with the hot peppers, which aren't super hot and really complete the flavor of the sub. The owners/employees are super nice!
(4)Barry B.
(5)Rob G.
Salute!
(5)Kristin M.
(4)Keith R.
(4)Elizabeth A.
(4)Ja'Bette L.
(5)Raul C.
(5)Erin T.
(4)Laurie W.
(5)Ryan K.
(4)Kevin K.
Cheers!
(3)Kimarie C.
Grazie!
(5)Travis K.
(5)Hokie H.
(3)Geo N.

(4)Neri A.
(1)Lucy B.
We used to come here all the time for serious Italian sammies. They ain't as good as they used to be but, the competition around here is slim. You won't be sorry with the italian cold cut.
(4)Dave S.
(5)Mina A.
Pretty delicious Italian sub, considering the area. The bread could have been better. The meatball sub did not live up to the hype, but I would go again for the Italian sub. Really friendly service, as well. If you love cold cut sandwiches, you should try this place out.
(3)Mikel B.
the staff was super friendly and even recommended a sandwich when I looked overwhelmed.

A must try!
(5)Adelina Z.
This update is for the homemade sauce that the owner's wife makes and the makes-you-want-to-slap-ya-mama-cause-it's-so-Âamazingly-good-amaretti cookies. This place makes me happy.
(5)Deb B.

(5)Tom T.

Bravo
(5)Michael V.
(4)Greg S.
Decided to try this place based on Yelp and I am glad I did. I ordered the turkey and swiss with everything on it, very good meats and the oil and vinegar had a good flavor. Also tried a cookie which was excellent, will go back and try an Italian sub.
(3)N C.
(5)Edward A.
(5)Regina P.
Good food and amazing staff!! Subs are a bit small though.
(3)Jane Y.
HUGE plus.
(4)Ina C.
I was craving a meatball sub, and this place hit the SPOT! Everything about it was perfect - the softness and freshness of the bread, the flavor and texture of the meatballs, the sauce - it was all heaven. Really delicious.
(4)Ben T.
Very good at what they do and not over priced.
(4)Dave L.
(4)Andrew M.
(5)Scott S.
Great hidden gem in Wheaton, MD. Lived here for a few years and heard about it...tried it....loved it. They also have the best cannoli's in the DC area!
(5)will m.
(5)Maria P.
(5)Laine C.
(4)Molly G.
fantastic! took other's advice and went with the cold cut italian sub, which did not dissapoint! Just a classic, delish sandwich. Also found an amazing selection of imported cold cuts (piked out some awesome genoa salami) and some great fresh bread. The owners are the sweetest people ever, looking forward to another visit soon!
(5)Brendan D.
(5)Flavia W.
(5)John R.
(5)Scott P.
(1)Lorac P.
(5)Barry S.
Maybe just a bad day ... We'll consider trying again ... No offense intended... Yelp is for giving our honest opinion
(2)Mic X.
over 50 years in business and still going strong. i remember this place from when i was a wee little punk kid, back in the red necked days of ole wheaton. my first experiences weren't so fond, as i took a try at some of the italian treats and ice cream and found them to be odd, but as i got older, this became my stop for subs and cannolis. it had probably been about 10 years or so since i last stepped foot in here, when it dawned on me that i hadn't been to marchone's in over a decade. so i did what any self respecting father would, i picked up my little girl and took her down there for lunch. my little carnivore gulped down the meatballs from the meatball sub. she doesn't bother with the bread (apparently she is on the atkins diet). i inhaled my beautiful, sloppy italian sausage sub that gushed with peppers, onions, and sauce. of course, you can't end a lunch at an italian deli without a cannoli. ah, la dolce vita. a little side note - all the bread used for their subs comes shipped from a special bakery in philly. that's a sign of man that cares about the quality of his subs.
(4)Kim R.
I found this little slice of heaven thanks to Yelp and oh. my. god. The subs, the cookies... and it's a 5 minute drive to work. I will be enormous by year's end.
(5)Catherine H.
(5)Alan G.
A staple in Wheaton, around forever, Marchones is the real thing. You have to get their famous meatball and cheese sub or the classic italian. Not much on ambience, but it is what it is.
(4)C P.
(5)Luke W.
Great local spot. Very friendly management. I am there for my usual italian cold cut weekly. Try it out you will surely not be disappointed.
(5)Danny S.
(5)Todd S.
(4)Amanda C.
(4)Neil M.
(5)t n.
grew up on these sandwiches and they are still great!
(5)Brian R.
I like the cannoli.
