Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

This is our go to Chinese take out joint. We get General Tso's, cream cheese wontons. Prices are great and the place is well run, with friendly customer service. The General Tso's sauce is a little sweet and salty, the chicken is not too greasy and the wontons are crispy and incredibly hot. Please, for the love of the roof of your mouth let those wontons cool before you attempt to eat them.

This place is within walking distance from where I just moved to, so my family tried them out last night. We ordered sweet and sour pork, general tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, egg drop soup and a few other things. Everything was perfect. It honestly could not have been better, and I've had 5 star Chinese dining in San Francisco before. The people who work here are actually Chinese and don't speak good English which is fine as long as you aren't trying to dictate special instructions to them. Usually I get indigestion or sick from low cost Chinese food, but not from Brother! We will definitely be ordering here again soon.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! The food will get you sick and then they will blame it on you for even ordering from them!! The place is dirty. Save your money.

As I am typing this, I would like t mention I am currently eating one of the best chicken and mixed vegetable dishes I've ever had. The produce is very fresh and quite crisp, and the sauce is just perfect (do note that it is bland, but this is why people order it). And the egg rolls have shrimp in them which is a rare delight in this area.

Food is okay. Nothing special, mediocre carryout. IF YOU GET FOOD HERE MAKE SURE YOU COUNT YOUR CHANGE AND CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. I bought food here and the lady tried to charge my card TWICE! The second time it was declined so I paid cash. I ENDED UP PAYING FOR TWO MEALS and there was no mistake on her part. They charged me extra deliberately. I will never go back to this place and I honestly suggest you all choose another restaurant that's not full of CROOKS!

We tried this place because they deliver and we were drinking our faces off at home with a friend. We were very excited when the food came. Great portions, but when we dug in, the food was all bland. Everything tasted like styrofoam. It was also pretty pricey for what we were getting. Won't be ordering from here again.

I actually like this place go almost everyday. Sweet n sour chicken is the best. And the person up front are very friendly.

One night, I was in the heart of Wheaton (and not Silver Spring as the restaurant's address would suggest); it was late. For some reason, I was in the mood for some fried rice...just some old fashion, unadulterated, Americanized fried rice. And, Brother Chinese Food seemed to fit the bill. Full Key, a reputable Cantonese restaurant, was just across the street; and, other Chinese restaurants were nearby too (as Wheaton is full of them). However, I had a hunch that the prices at Brother would probably be less expensive because it is a carry out primarily and not a full-blown restaurant. Besides, fried rice is easy to make. Carryout places everywhere crank out fried rice competently every day. And, my instincts often is to try someplace new...It's the Yelper in me. Well...I was wrong (what a bad move). When I placed my order (of chicken fried rice), I asked the person at the counter if they use yellow rice when they prepare their fried rice. The woman answered, "yellow rice." Some carryout joints color their white Jasmine rice "yellow" before stir frying it. Often, this is done with yellow food coloring in order to mimic the look of Spanish rice (arroz amarillo). So, carryout restaurants that have a large proportion of Hispanic customers will do this in order to appeal to the sensibilities of their Hispanic patrons. However, I did not want the yellow food coloring; and, I asked that they use white rice instead. When my order came out, I took my food (which was placed in a brown paper bag) and left. I drove away in my car. My fried rice, as it turned out, was indeed made of white rice. In fact, it was just plain white rice. They had stir fried it lightly, but had not seasoned it in any way...had not added dark soy sauce, had not browned the rice at all. It was just plain white rice...with a few cubes of carrots and peas and some chicken. It was the plainest, most flavorless fried rice I had ever eaten. Granted, a customer may ask for "white rice" to be used in his fried rice. But, that means to make fried rice with the white rice...not to literally serve the customer white rice. Yes, there may have been a communication mishap somewhere. But, really, to serve up essentially a box of white rice to me and to charge me for chicken fried rice is ridiculous. I have no doubt that Brother Chinese Food is quite capable of making good Chinese-American fare. As other Yelpers indicate, their General Tso's Chicken is well liked. However, my experience was a disappointment. The next time I get an urge for fried rice (or, perhaps, a perverted and inexcusable urge for some egg foo young), I will make sure to go somewhere else or maybe bang my head against my dashboard so that I can snap out of it.

Good service but food was so bad. My nieces and nephews wouldn't even take home the leftovers.

The place is a bit of dive, but it open late and close to home. It a basic carry-out location with decent Chinese food and generally fast. There very limited parking in the front during the daytime. Luckily, there reasonable parking on the street if you're willing to walk. I personally only get Fried Chicken and rice from this location if I'm looking for it in Wheaton. The other items on the menu to me is serviceable Chinese food.

This is a little hole-in-the-wall type place that is extremely affordable and very tasty. Yes, it is Americanized Chinese food at its best. They are also super, super fast. Lastly, I have to mention their honesty; on two separate occasions, I left something in the restaurant (I know, I know, I'm an idiot). Both things had value upwards of $100. Both times I called and both times they had the items waiting for me to pick them up. I even offered them a small amount of cash as a reward- they could have taken the items themselves and said they were stolen- and they wouldn't even take that. That type of service, along with the food, is what makes me continue to come back to this place, even with five other Asian restaurants in walking distance from it. Highly recommend.

Although the food is inconsistent and sometimes it smells weird, but i thought all chinese food was like?

I order from this place every Sunday Night and the food has tastes you won't believe.

I tried this place for the first time on Friday and I must say I was satisfied! It was fast, cheap, and the orange chicken was sooo good! I haven't had any good Chinese food in a while so I was excited. Not to mention its down the street from my house. As a matter a fact it was all good! lololol. I also ordered combination fried rice and eggs rolls, and its all gone. Been gone at that! lol

It's cheap, "American" Chinese food. I ordered take out and since I didn't know if there was a delivery charge (It's free, min. $10 order) so I went to pick it up. This was at around 7pm on a Friday night... the parking lot is tiny and there were people double parked. Since I was alone, I couldn't just run in. Luckily a spot opened up... however, the spots in this lot each seem to have only one business assigned to them, so I parked in a spot marked 'dry cleaning customers only,' as the people inside the dry cleaners gave me a semi-dirty look... I walked in and grabbed my food as fast as I could. If you do order from this place, I suggest having it delivered or picking it up with a friend. Getting back to the food- yeah, I liked it... but I've had better. There are SO many choices in this small area, so unless price is your only factor I'd suggest taking a look at some of the other nearby eateries before choosing Brothers.

We received a flier in the mail when we moved into the area so decided to give it a try. The prices are great. The food we ordered was well cooked and had god flavor. We ordered the General Tso combo plates. It's a lot of food for the low price and their flier says their portions are getting larger in may. The fried rice was great. The chicken was cooked just right for me and I really enjoyed the flavor of the egg roll. Delivery was right on time and it was nice and hot. We will definitely be ordering from them again. Looking forward to trying the other side of their menu.

I cannot believe what just happened! I ordered delivery and gave them the code for my apartment building. I get a call from the driver screaming at me "where are you! get down here." I cannot believe his tone, but in the interest of getting my food, I leave my apartment and head down to the lobby. I get down there and no one is there. I call the restaurant and they say "He doesn't speak English well and you weren't there so he left." It literally was 3 minutes after he called me that I got down there. I told her that he yelled at me on the phone, which for a business that needs customers, is ridiculous. She kept saying that it was my fault because I wasn't down there. Nevermind that they had the code to get into my building. She tells me that he will be here in 5 minutes. I wait out there for 10 minutes; no driver. Finally, he gets there and he stops in the middle of the street and motions for me to walk in the middle of the street to get the food. I really don't think putting my life at risk for mediocre chinese food is a good idea. When he gets out, he screams at me again and calls me an ass hole. I cannot believe the level of disrespect this place (can't really call it a restaurant) has for its PAYING customers. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER order from this place!!! IT SUCKS!

Before moving out of the DMV area I used to frequent Brothers Chinese quite often. It was modestly clean and the front 2-3 tables were usually wiped off. The girl up front wasn't the friendliest but I didn't expect much on that end anyway. The food was most important and it didn't disappoint. It was always cooked well and flavorful. I was a happy camper. Now that I'm back in the area, it has changed... and not for the better. I've visited three times. And I don't plan on returning. First Visit: - The girl up front has changed. She speaks more English and started out friendly, but now she's as indifferent as the first one. - The food's taste had also changed. It was bland and boring. I'm assuming the "good" cook has left as I didn't see him. Second Visit: I decided to give it a go again. Mistake! They messed up the guy's order in front of me and proceed to pull a fast one by trying to give me his cold, touched over crab rangoons. They saw me watching closely to see how this would play out. So they gave me "my" order, BUT then ran to my car to say it was a mistake. Of course I looked in the box and it was the same order from the guy before and they didn't want to throw it away. I went back inside and said I wanted my money back. They refused. Nasty service!! Third Visit: Recently my buddy said let's try it one last time. I let him order and I stayed behind in the car just in case they remembered my face from the previous incident. Well, they gave him uncooked and under cooked chicken fried rice!! The other dishes were cold and only the sauce on top was hot. Like we weren't going to notice?! The whole experience has been a huge turn off and I won't be going back again!!!

Worst service ever! I live in a building with a call box. The driver refused to use it and expected me to come down to the front of the complex to get the food. Why am I paying a delivery fee if you cannot deliver. I do not even care about the food quality at this point. This customer service is the worst and ensured that I will never order from them again! My advice to everyone else is to avoid the piss poor service and order from someplace else.

4 stars for Americanized Chinese delivery? You know, sometimes I want some 1960's-style Chinese takeout - the old fav's from childhood (mine anyway) like general Tso's and hot and sour soup. I have always wondered about Brother, so with movie in hand we called up and ordered an array of the stand-bys. First, the price us right. Second, delivery was free, fast, and courteous. Third, the flavors throughout were good and the spicy items actually were. Hot and sour soup was a bit gelatinous, but had a nice balance of spice and sour, as well as some fresh mushrooms that were a nice addition. General Tso's had that fresh chili taste and the sauce was not overly sweet. Good. Fried wontons with cheese (oh yes we did!) were obviously handmade and yummy. So crack open a beer, put the movie in and order if you are in the Wheaton area.

The Price is Right, but customer service, portion size and waiting an hour for delivery is definitely not! We had a good first experience a few months ago. The food arrived hot, quickly and was plentiful. So we thought we'd give it a go for today's lunch. Mistake. We called our order in at 2pm and were told it would be a half an hour. When 2:55 rolled around, not only was our food still not here, but we hadn't received a call about it. I called them and was told that the driver had just left and that we were first on his delivery list. They apologized, but didn't explain why they were taking so long. Fifteen minutes later (when they are located just *five* minutes from my house) their driver arrived. When I asked him what took so long, he said he was busy. My guess is that they forgot our order entirely until I called because our order came with cans of soda we don't drink as a sort of peace offering. Next time we won't take a chance on lunch. Red Ginger in Kensington has never let us down and we won't be straying from them again.
