This is sad because this course has so much potential. A great layout with some beautiful holes, but the course maintenance left a lot to be desired. Much of the course hadn't been mowed in weeks. If you hit your ball anywhere off the fairway then be prepared to lose it or look forever. The first cut of rough was over 6 inches high. We even had to look for a couple balls in the fairway as it was cut to the height of the first cut of rough at most courses. The sand was rock hard and like playing off a cart path. The lawns of the homes that back up to the course were far better maintained than the course itself. This course has so much potential. I hope someone else buys it or takes over the management. I would pay 20 bucks more to play this course if it was in good shape. It's no wonder there was hardly anyone there on a perfect Friday afternoon.

Agree with Jared S. that playing here is sad, as this course is clearly on the decline. It is clear to me that management does not take course maintenance seriously, judging by the state of the clubhouse, and the the fact that the grass off the fairway had not been mowed in weeks. This is unfortunate, since the layout is beautiful, and the course has lots of potential. Judging by the fact that the course was practically empty on a beautiful saturday afternoon, others have avoided the course for the reasons i noted above. I hope things change there, but until i hear otherwise i will not be playing or recommending Wakefield Valley

While I no longer live near Wakefield Valley, I will still drive over an hour to play here. That alone speaks to the greatness that is Wakefield Valley. So allow me to give you a rundown of reasons why Wakefield Valley is worth the drive. 1. A real game improvement center- they have a grass tee area which is always open, but even better is the expansive putting green and chipping green. The putting green has various slopes and pin positions to work with. The chipping green has a couple of bunkers and a wide open space to work on chipping, bump and runs, and flop shots too. You can spend $8 on two buckets of range balls and really get in a few hours of work there. 2. Crowds - in general, this place doesn't have that problem. Because there are 3 nine hole courses, the place is better equipped to handle more golfers. Whereas most courses around Baltimore are going to be packed on a nice weekday, Wakefield is the place where a single can walk on and play by himself the whole day. It feels great to finish 18 holes in 3 hours at Wakefield. There are a myriad of other reasons, including price, but these are reason enough to keep me coming back to Wakefield Valley.

Staff very nice. Course has interesting layout but conditions as if it was abandoned for a month. Very easy to lose balls in weeds/rough just off fairways that aren't much better. Greens ok in most places. Would be nice place If kept up to even avg muni conditions.

This course really has potential. The scenery and the layout is nice. The course can be challenging to all skill levels. Having said that, it just isn't worthwhile playing there at this time due to the horrendous condition. The t box, fairways, and even the greens have weeds growing on them. I have a lot of weed in my yard, but this course made my lawn look manicured. The fairways were thicker than most of the courses I have played in. Until the condition gets any better, I cannot encourage anyone to play there.

Disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful. This was once a wonderful golf course with three 9 hole set ups. The course was well manicured with fast greens. Now it is simply a mess. Weeds grow in the fairways and even in some bunkers! Numerous of the greens have large bare spots to the point that some greens are almost unplayable. The rough was full of white clover, so finding a ball in the rough ( It hadn't been cut for quite some time) was a real chore. It was a hot day, but no water was to be found, none. Inside, there is only one person working the entire clubhouse. I stopped in after 9 holes to brag a quick bite and had to wait for the gentleman who was working the front desk to come over to the kitchen to take my order. Then when i paid him he had to go back to the front desk to make change because they don't open the register in the kitchen any longer. The only saving grace was the fact that no one was on the course so I played 18 holes in 2:35 minutes. I literally saw 6 golfers out there, a threesome, a single and a twosome. Of course, that's only because word is out, this once lovely golf course is now a total mess.
