Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Discovered this place via Clipper coupon magazine (??!!)...we took the coupon with us but couldn't bear to use it because the food and service was too good to be discounted. It's mostly an eatery but has a bar attached; we chose (naturally) to sit at the bar. Really great vibe! Open doors and big windows lend a ton of natural light; brick bar gave a very "mexican" feel. Copa Del Rey finals were on (sorry Bilbao fans) but the crowd was fairly mild. Beau has never had a pupusa so we ordered some of those - curtido mix was quite tasty (note: even as a meat eater, he preferred my queso (+ frijoles) to his revuelta). I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco, would recommend either but preferred the fish. Beau had the beef, chicken, and pork mixto tacos, he enjoyed all thoroughly. Each of the 5 types were overflowing, absolutely no skimping here. Side of frijoles was also bangin (bonus! served with a side of tortilla chips :). What really made the experience was our mama bartender/server. She welcomed us with a hearty "hola!," congratulated me on my younger man after checking our IDs, and bid us farewell with a tequila shot on the house (complete with a lime wedge and salero). Her Coronaritas were also strong-n-tasty, just the way we like em! You're a fool if you enjoy mexican food, live within 20 miles, and don't check this place out. Beau and I will be back again and again. I'll leave a tip but also want to mention in my review: they have a fantastic outdoor patio in the back, away from the parking lot and highway and surrounded by trees and a high fence - a great option for a nice day.

Chicken tacos were amazing!!! Orders must be placed at the counter, they don't come to the table to take your order. Pork was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The red sauce has a great smokey flavor. We hope to return soon

Father's day with my children and son in law Mike. Everyone loved their meals. Complimentary tequila shot. I will definitely be back.

It's been said before but I'll say it again. The food here is authentic, fresh and very good. Thanks to the previous reviews for convincing me to give this place a try. My family and I had the beef taco, shrimp taco, quesadilla, chips, plantains and fries. I wasn't a fan of the tortilla chips because I like mine hot, thin, crispy, and salty --- which these were not. But everything else was pretty awesome. The music does get pretty loud so keep that in mind if you plan on dining in.

Absolutely authentic Mexican food earns it an almost 5 stars. I've ordered the pork pozole soup twice now - it's pretty good (deep red in color which makes the soup absolutely delicious but my gripes come in the hominy which is usually my favorite part, hominy tastes overlooked losing some of its flavor and becoming too soft). I've had the beef soup, "caldo de Rez" it looked beautiful and the meat was delicious but the veggies were undercooked and even some hard to eat (carrots) I suppose this might have been because I ordered it in the middle of summer, when soups aren't in high demand and making it on the spot requires some more time... This evening I had the pozole and and order of flautas. So much food! Couldn't finish and for only 15 bucks along with a large horchata (pretty yummy but not like home [AZ]). I'll be back - and back - and back...! :) possibly the best Mexican food I've had in the DMV area.

I absolutely love the steak tacos omg they are soooo good. I come here often. My sister loves their pupusas. I will continue to come here to eat Mexican food.

They were just OK. The food is fresh, the service is friendly...and they serve alcohol, but it's definitely not the best or most authentic.

fresh, super-authentic, and very reasonably priced Mexican food in a clean, pleasant if simple environment with plenty of tables and a ranchero soundtrack. great tacos!!! try taco de tripas. tacos are brought out with radish, cucumber, onion, cilantro, lime, and red and green hot sauces. they also have pupusas, for a little Salvadorean twist. large menu with many different stews / soups and platters . tacos can be ordered individually. they have coconut water and all the standard Mexican sodas. and Inka Cola too ). order at the counter place. very popular with apparently Mexican immigrant clientele.

Stopped in for late small dinner on a Saturday night. I had Beef tongue tacos and fried yucca. The tacos were very nice. Fresh ingredients, and lightly seasoned tongue made them quick bites as I devoured them. This is no frills food, that definitely satisfies.

Yummo!! I finally ate here today. I had a pork taco and a chicken taco. Both delicous. The pork was a little dry, but I would eat it again.

I first saw this new restaurant passing by on Hwy 301 in Waldorf. When I read a first review with pictures on Yelp, I knew I would have to try in my ongoing effort to find worthy Mexican food in Charles County. While my meal today was OK, it probably does not warrant a return visit. My wife daughter and I tries tacos (beef and tongue), menudo, rice and beans. 3 condiments are on the table, a hot red salsa, a mild green salsa, and pickled sliced onion and jalapeños. The menudo comes with chopped onion and cilantro. The menudo was under spiced to our tastes, so I added a lot of red salsa. The meat was clearly long simmered until gelatinous, as expected. The small bowl is plenty large. Only corn tortillas are used for tacos, no flour tacos. The only filling in the tacos are the seasoned meat. These are NOT Chipotle tacos. The tacos are served with a char-grilled green onion and slices of lime, radish and cucumber. While these tacos and this menudo would have seemed like manna from heaven 50 years ago at the end of a long night in a Tex/Mex Border town, today it is seriously lacking. Maybe age has made me more selective.

Food was great. All food is handmade and homemade. Very cheap prices. I was very impressed! From the outside looking in, I would have been skeptical if it hadn't been for the Yelp reviews. After walking into the bar side door, I was beyond impressed. The restaurant is extremely clean and neat. The decor is bland but inviting. The bartender served us and was great. She explained any questions and helped us. She explained how just about everything on the menu was made! The only negative was they didn't have tamales on the menu. Probably one of my favorite dishes and how I usually judge a "Mexican" restaurant. She explained that they only do them on the weekends and if I came back tomorrow she would make sure I was able to get some! Might have to take her up on the offer haha. My meal was delicious. I got milanesas de pollo and a pupusa de queso. Seasonings were spot on. The rice was very tasty. The tacos looked great. They were served with a lime, grilled green onion and radishes. Gordita was full of meat and cheese. I would recommend this place to anyone. After having made trips to mexico and eaten plenty of street vendor food, this place is the best around! Great great great find

I was drawn here by yelpy promises of authenticity and left with some mixed feelings. All portions of taco meat were generous. I ordered: Papusa de queso: Delicious and piping hot - I particularly enjoyed it with the red salsa rather than the sauce it came with - I also enjoyed the side slaw. Black beans: YUM! Whipped up with what looked like cotija cheese and served with chips, at $2, this is a steal. Mixed pork taco: Served with the anticipated authentic accouterments, onion, cilantro, radish and lime, this taco came with a serious serving size of meat, but I ended up not liking it because the meat was overly greasy and otherwise didn't have much flavor. Hubby ordered the fish and chicken taco, the chicken is just grilled and served with chopped veggies on top and he mentioned that the fish was a tad bland (although also plentiful). I'd come back, but would probably try new things like to the barbacoa (which from their menu is served only on weekends) and perhaps the steak taco.

Taqueria Los Compadres transported this SoCal native girl back home! I'm so happy to FINALLY have a legit Taqueria here in Southern Maryland. For 10+ years I've had to satisfy my Mexican cravings w/ gringo Mexican joints. No longer my friends! Taqueria Los Compadres is the real deal! I've been here twice now and the food is insanely delicious! The Carnitas melts in your mouth its so unctuous! Carne Asada is flavorful and tender. Flautas crispy and chock full of shredded beef or chicken. The Papusas are filled w/ ooey gooey cheese (and meat if you like) and cooked to perfection. The only thing I wish they had was a salsa / fresh & pickled veggie/jalapeno bar. That would send this place over the top! They also have a full bar attached to the taqueria that has authentic Mexican beers. Give this place a try! You wont be disappointed!!

So we stopped by after church. Found it by using yelp!! Not reading or speaking Spanish thought it might be difficult. Not at all!! The staff was fantastic and translated and explained the menu. No is not the first time Mexican but most of the menu is in Spanish. Had the sausage taco's. They were excellent. Also had the Pupusas also. It was great. Will definitely come back.
