I have to admit, I was nervous about going here because of all the negative reviews but I'm glad I went and checked it out for myself! Our waitress was fantastic! Friendly, checked on us regularly ,and made sure we were enjoying our meals. I ordered the spinach and cheese dip as an appetizer and it was delicious. Very cheesy, warm and yummy. For my entree I ordered the chicken carbonara. I was shocked at how large the portion size was! I guess thats why they call it "family style dining". The small dish is prepared to serve at least two people. Since I was pretty much already full after the appetizer, I took most of my entree home. I will be returning...soon!

Haven't been to Bucca in a good 6/7 years. Maaan I missed this place. Everything about this place speaks to family environment and style. The checkered table cloths, the walls adorned with Italian life, zest and flair. The copious amounts of large breasted women framed. Sophia Loren (ahhhh)...The campy ornaments hung throughout. It was like I never left. I like this location because it was not crowded or overly raucous. Bucca is the type of place where the loud talkers and laughers go. Those bellowing beast of brevity and bravado. Yes women too can be a tad overzealous when in the company of alcohol. Be that as it is. The wait at our table was a little long. Seeing as though they were not busy. The Frutti Di Mare is as it was the 1st time I tasted it. So damn good. The Bruschetta, the salad, the dessert. I mean I couldn't have asked for a better Birthday dinner.

Good service and the food was real good and came out quick. We love the family style servings and the overall experience was great.

Massive portions of delicious Italian food served family style... what's not to love. Service was great. Food was great. Price was right. No complaints here. Will be going back again.

The food is good., but the service is awful. I order a salad during lunch and the retaurant was empty it took 45 minutes to make. I have been on 3 different occasions.

Bring your appetite. It's a family style restaurant; portions are big and meant to be shared. Service was great. We went on a Saturday and sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Nice, active atmosphere and a small bar that offers tasty specialty drinks. I thought the food was yummy. We had the calamari, shrimp gorgonzola salad and stuffed shells. I brought most of the salad home with me - no room to eat it all. We'll return.

Updating my review of 2/15/05 - the district manager contacted me directly after I sent an email to corporate office complaining about terrible, terrible service and lack of apparent management. He shared that he had already spoken with the managers of the Waldorf location. Followed up his verbal apology with a gift certificate. So, in fairness, I am upgrading from one to two stars because of the immediate response of the corporate management to my concerns. The food? good chain restaurant Italian - enjoyed it more as leftover lunch than as the dinner in the restaurant.

We have dined here twice for lunch and it was a pleasant experience both times. As with all of the Buca di Beppo restaurants, the food was good and the portions (family size) are a decent value. Staff was very friendly and the service was good too.

Review is solely based on my dining experience on valentines day. Had a reservation for 630, was not seated until 645, not a problem. Was then asked by waiter "has anyone helped you yet" over 15 minutes after being seated. He then proceeded to go "find" our waiter, only to come back and say he was our waiter. He was waiting on the entire room we were sat in. Thank you, captain obvious. We put in our order and received our food TWO HOURS later only to receive undercooked pasta. We normally don't ever complain but this was definitely the exception. At least we came home with four free cannolis.

Last year during a conference I attended in Orlando, my co-workers were raving about this restaurant in their Florida location, and I felt I had missed something big because I chose to spend my last night in Florida with some relatives. Fast forward almost a year later, I finally came here with a girl friend for a late Sunday lunch on our way home from a wedding the night before in Maryland. I thought to myself FINALLY i get to experience this place! Everything here is served family style and so we decided to order a small serving of VEAL SALTIMBOCCA with rosemary potatoes as a side dish. The bread served to us was not extraordinary nor was it close to being warm. In fact we were asked if we wanted it. It was served with aceto balsamico, or oiive oil with a swirl of balsamic vinegar, which is typical of many American Italian restaurants, the practice of which started in a San Francisco restaurant......once again I find a restaurant that breaks an Italian food rule that simply states DON'T DIP YOUR BREAD IN OLIVE OIL!............I thought this place would be AUTHENTICO...I guess not. Although our entree was cooked well, it lacked attention to detail....the artichoke described to be part of the dish was no where to be found on the serving platter. The sauce was also scant, so we requested for more sauce. The rosemary potatoes were dry and lacked the aroma of rosemary sprigs, and I guess dried rosemary was sprinkled just right before it was served. What made our experience here a bit gratifying was our server. She anticipated what we needed and was making sure we were ok. When we requested for more sauce, she gave as a soup bowl full. I'll give it another chance maybe and try something else next time, and this time not expect too much........and thinking back, did I miss out big time? Mmmm, not really.

One star based on service only. I am sitting in the restaurant right now writing this review, as I am paying my bill for my family of 7. This was my second trip here. First time here I had a kitchen view table. A server dropped a clean knife on the floor and then put it back in with the other knives. I complained to a manager. They apologized and fixed it. Cleaned all of the knives. I'm sure worse happens in restaurants with no kitchen view so how mad can I be? Not right, but a risk of eating out. And they apologized profusely and they washed all the knives. Ok by me. Decided to try it out again, spaghetti and meatballs came out pasty. OVERDONE pasta. Chef came out and said sorry and offered to remake. Ok. Fine. EXCEPT, the remake came out with all of the cut up meatball from the first go round. If you are remaking then remake it, don't serve new pasta with original meat. Service ok, not excellent. Not trying to be horrible. I really wanted this to help revitalize this mall but unfortunately it is only making people not return. Two strikes and you are out Buca. I will continue to enjoy your food when I visit Anaheim, CA and will hope that you get it together in Waldorf. For this girl, I won't try you again for at least one year. If you are still there, but I doubt you will be. To do so, better make some big changes and QUICK.

A month ago, my daughter and I went in about an hour before closing, so not a lot of people there. For the most part the food was pretty tasty and the service was excellent. We ordered the Shrimp Florentine--although tasty, it was literally a bowl of linguine sprinkled with a handful of shrimp, spinach, sprinkled with a few roma tomatoes. Fast-forward to today, I live about 12 miles from the restaurant and decided to place an online order to pick-up. Seems that choosing the pay at the restaurant option placed me over the maximum amount and I would have to pay via cc..With all the hacks and breaches, I have no intentions of doing. I've just placed an order with an old stand by, that has great Italian cuisine for about the same amount and will pay when I get to the restaurant.

Let me start off by saying this negative review has nothing to do with the service(which in my opinion, was very good) or the quantity of the food. This is solely on the QUALITY. My girlfriend and I sat down for a mid Sunday lunch. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizers, which claimed, to be made with a slew of herbs, ricotta, all in a creamy pesto sauce....this was 14.99. What we got was nowhere near a "family style" appetizer. We received 6 teaspoon sized mushrooms. They were flavorless and awkwardly filled with too much cream cheese. The pesto sauce that they were sitting in was far from home made....it came from a mix or perhaps an old can. For our main dish we ordered Shrimp Florentine linguini. This pasta dish came with pasta, shrimp, spinach, tomatoes, all in a garlic butter sauce. This time when the meal was bought to us, it was served in a Family Size portion. After taking one look at the dish, we knew that it was going to be terrible. For fun we decided to count the number of shrimp.... 9. This may have been the most flavorless meal I've ever eaten in my life. The "garlic butter sauce" might as well have been water, terrible. The pasta was over cooked, and the shrimp was severely under seasoned......well honestly everything was under seasoned. After eating 2 bites each we called it quits. We did however take the left overs home with us. The next night my girlfriend decided to save this meal. It took her 10-15 minutes, made her own garlic butter sauce, added some more shrimp and tomatoes, salt, pepper, and lemon(the things it was supposedly made with) topped off with some Parmesan cheese. It was LEAGUES better than what we received and it only took a few extra minutes( not counting cooking more shrimp) to add some flavor! Which the restaurant could have easily done. I was/still am disgusted with what we received. Before I end this review, I have to say, I am not a food connoisseur. I was not going here expecting the best food of my life, by any means. I was thinking something along the lines of Olive Garden to Applebee's. What we received was less than what I expect from a 7/11 hot dog. Never Again.

Not that good. Pasta was overcooked, peas tasted frozen and not fresh, Alfredo from a jar. Stuffed pasta was dry in places from oven. Waitress was sweet, but their tea was not. They were out of flavored tea, and I couldn't get the alcoholic drink I wanted because bar wasn't stocked. Won't be returning. I would rather get Italian from Rucci's in white plains. Edit. Waitress left my drink that I didn't get on the bill, and didn't bring us a pen to sign slip. Sigh.

Went for lunch today. The server was excellent and the food as well. Had the Penne alla Caprese and Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken. Both were prepared well. I think I know my Italian food and for a chain restaurant Buca di Beppo is right up there.

We ordered to go. This is our second time since this location has opened. The first time we dined in and it was a disaster. Now I feel stuck because I ordered online and paid so I can't leave. Said my order would be ready over twenty minutes ago.

    * 3 stars specifically for this location * Food is pretty good. The calamari is pretty good (nice and crispy with good flavor) and we loveee the apple Gorgonzola salad, which has the right mixture of salty and sweet. The pastas are all tasty and cooked well. Apparently they make all their own sauces too. The prices make sense for the portion sizes--it's family style and huge dishes. But... What is WITH the service here?? Timing The first time we came and sat down it was fine. Then the next 2 we did carry out and BOTH times we came after the recommended time--they told us 12-15 minutes, we get there past 20. We saw our food sitting there the first time... And just waited and waited for the bartender to check us out. Really? Second time.... Came 20 after... He gave us the bill... I took out the money and stood there holding it for 10 minutes... finally asked him if the food was ready... And he didn't even turn around to answer me? Finally got our food after 25 minutes of waiting in the restaurant and 45 minutes total from order to ready. If the food isn't going to be ready in 15 minutes, don't tell me to roll outta bed into the cold in 15 minutes just to stand at the bar for 25. Consistency So the first two times we got the Apple Gorgonzola, the salad was tossed and the dressing was tossed into the salad (1st time dine-in, 2nd time carry out). The 3rd time ...there was no dressing at all and the salad wasnt tossed. When we brought this up to the manager, he said that the salad should never have the dressing tossed into it. Hm... seems like some things need to be reiterated to some of the employees... Courtesy Aside from the bartenders/employees taking a long time to respond and not even turning around when speaking to us, we got a chance to speak with the manager over the phone. So when we got home we realized they didn't even give us dressing for the salad, we asked for the manager. We told him about both instances, and he promised us a comp salad and dessert for next time, explaining that these practices were not standard and apologized. If/when we go back I'll reevaluate. For now... 3 stars.

Four of us stopped into the Waldorf Buca di Beppo Saturday afternoon around 1230. The place was pretty much dead with only 20 or so patrons in the restaurant. We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and took our drink order promptly. We placed our food order about 10 minutes later. About 30 minutes later we received 2 of our 3 entrees and we were then informed by the server that the kitchen was out of pizza dough and it would be 20-30 more minutes before they could make our pizza! My daughter was set on pizza so we waited- but we asked for it "to go". Our other entrees (Chicken parm and chicken Alfredo) were good as to be expected from my other visits to Buca. When we received our pizza we settled the bill and headed to the car. Once we got to the car we noticed that the pizza sauce had an excessive amount of water which made a mess all over the inside of the box and caused the dough to be very soggy. I also noticed that this location seemed to be very disorganized with pizza boxes and supplies stacked up next to tables in the dining area by the kitchen and boxes of cleaning supplies stacked up (and not neatly) in the bathrooms under the sinks. I thought "Can't they afford a storage shelf somewhere?" The bathroom could also have used some cleaning so not sure why they have all those supplies. I have eaten at other Buca locations across the country before but I was underwhelmed by this location.....I would tend to blame the management.

I've been to Buca Di Beppo's on numerous occasions while living in San Diego and always had an outstanding experience. I decided to give the one in Waldorf MD a try. My husband and I were extremely disappointed in the unprofessional-ism and overall lack of customer service at this establishment. We went to lunch on a Sunday afternoon with our two small children (5) and (3). The place was empty. I requested a booth because it's easier for my little ones to stay put in a booth vice a chair. I was told only tables in a particular section are available. After requesting again I was finally seated where it would be beneficial to me and my kid's. When we were seated we were provided with lunch menus. The waitress came and took our order. I placed my kids order first and asked if she could bring them out as soon as they were ready (my little ones take forever to eat). She came back to take our orders and cut us off in the middle ordering and said we can't order from the menus that were given to us! She said they were only weekday specials and took them out of our hands and went and got the "regular" menus. Now my kids are hungry and I already ordered there food so now I'm stuck ordering and just try to go with the flow. After waiting, the waitress then comes back and says that they are out of pizza dough and that it will take about 20 minutes to prepare some new dough. I ordered a kids cheese pizza for my daughter. The place is still empty and it was a good 15 minutes after I already ordered there stuff before she informed me of the dough situation. No apologies, just a matter of fact type of attitude. I ended up re-ordering the chicken parm for my daughter. Nothing has been brought out to the table yet. FINALLY all our food arrives at once, after I specifically asked to have my kids come out first because I ordered it first. My husbands and sons food was cold, my daughter's chicken parm was fine and my Chopped Antipasto Salad was a disaster. I got in the booth with my daughter to cut her food up and on the booth was a used FILTHY fork. She actually found it and handed it to me. So gross. I'm sorry, but this was such a bad experience that I feel it necessary to share.

The Thanksgiving Dinner Special was absolutely excellent. I especially appreciated that it wasn't buffet-style. The turkey was very moist and flavorful; and the sides were also delicious. We added a pasta dish to our dinner; after all we were at an Italian restaurant. Oh, the special included desert - sweet potato pie, which was the perfect way to complete our feast. We had a party of six, including young children. The service was exceptional. The staff was attentive and made us feel at home. Thank you Buca di Beppo for making our Thanksgiving Dinner very special. We'll be back soon!

The food was ok, it wasn't season every well though. I'm certain that the stuffed chicken was precooked-frozen and reheated. To top it off it was over cooked and the bottom crust was burnt. The service was pretty good. Overall it was an ok experience but I think it's overpriced for the quality of the food you're getting. Good place for families. I don't know that I'd return... Unless I was really hungry and it was my only option. On a positive note, the Ravoli with meat sauce was good.

We came back with a larger group. First the hostess lied on the phone telling me it was a 20 minute wait, only to tell us it was a 40 minute wait once we arrived. The server was friendly and attentive, but it was busy and she took a while to get us our drinks and take our order. The food was all decent, but it came out staggered, which was a minor problem because the kids had to sit without their food while we had ours in front of us. Child meals should come out first. They were also out of pepperoni for the pizza. Really? Finally, it was quite expensive, although it was a large amount of food. I'd have kept the three star rating from my last visit, but the wait lie and other minor issues lost it another star. I'd be more forgiving, but the family style method just doesn't work for me.

Giving this place three stars and that pushing it! The hostess was very nice when we were seated! But down hill after that! I took my 92 year old dad there on his b -day and I told the hostess you would think they would of did something for a world war 2 Vet like stick a candle in a roll or some ice cream! Well anyway finally our server comes after 15 mins! We were bout ready to leave to go to Ruby Tuesdays across from them! Wish we had! We got there at 3:30 they said to late for lunch! There was only one other table there and hostess sat us right next to them which was cool cause they were a cute young couple that was telling us how the place works! Cause we didn't know bout family style! We just thought prices were really high! We didn't know one small platter was all we needed! And that waiter wasn't about to tell us! So dad said order for him so I got Salad bowl waiter said it would be enough for 4 then ordered chicken Alredo small plate! He said it would be more then enough! Well finally salad comes it took forever and so did our drinks! I looked at salad and thought really for a bowl of lettuce 12.99 not even a cherry tomatoe there were 2 green olives & 2 pepercinnos! Oh and some red onion! So I hunted down the waiter and asked if he had any tomatoes? He comes back with these diced up real small pieces! It was really kinda of funny! I knew then we should of went to Ruby Tues. cause I love there Salad Bar!!! So we sitting there eatin our salad my dad said I guess you have to pay extra for some bread!!! I started cracking up! He said I saw it on menu for 7.99! So we were laughing and said well guess we not eating bread today!!! I said whenever the waiter comes back I will ask him! Well in the meantime people were coming in and I overheard another waitress tell her table she would be back with there salad& bread! Then I grabbed her when she walked by I said does bread come with salad? She said yes it does! I asked her to go get my waiter! We were done our salad by the time he came back! I couldn't believe how bad the service was! I ask bout bread he said oh you want bread I said I need something doesn't look like we getting our dinner and time soon!! So we sat for another 15 mins and finally he brings bread with our dinner! I couldn't believe this guy! It looked like all the other servers were on the ball! We just got a bad egg!!! Lol!!! I have to say the chicken dish was very good broccoli was fresh & it was very hot when we got it! And it was a lot of food! I took home enough for my husbands dinner and I made him wrap up the rest of that lettuce we didn't eat! So for the price wasn't too bad! But not good enough for us to return!!! That so call waiter needs to go back to school for a new career! And from now on when I take my dad to the mall we will be over at Ruby Tuesday having a wonderful salad bar with nice cherry tomatoes!!!

I'd have kept the three star rating from my last visit, but the wait lie and other minor issues lost it another star. I'd be more forgiving, but the family style method just doesn't work for me.

For now... 3 stars.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
