Wow! I didn't think sushi could be so spectacular, but I'm grateful to our Towson-savvy friend who recommended it. Here are a few highlights: Spicy Shu Mai Miso Soup: This was like miso soup on steriods. A nice zippy bite from pepper (it was reddish in color, versus the traditional brown) and studded with steamed shrimp dumplings. It was incredible. Sesame Seaweed Salad: Pretty standard except that they served theirs on a bed of shredded cucumbers -- a nice contrast to the heavier texture of the seaweed. There was also enough that 3 of us could share it comfortably. Dorsey Roll: Beautifully presented with jewel-like nuggets of salmon, tuna and avocado. Dynamite Roll: Probably my favorite, it came with stripes of eel and omelet on top, and cream cheese and avocado within. I do not generally approve of cream cheese in sushi, but with the salty roe garnish, it was perfect. Fire Roll: This one comes out on a flaming plate -- impressive presentation! -- and gives way to spicy tuna. Fantastic. Scallop: I don't like scallops. I loved this: cooked, shredded and tossed with a spicy dressing, presented in a seaweed wrapper. Mackerel: I had never had this sushi before, and it was fabulous -- gorgeous silvery skin and near-opaque flesh that just melts in your mouth. It had a slightly fishy aftertaste that I loved, like tinned sardines. With all of this (there was more I can't remember -- I was too far into the highest state of sushi nirvana) we drank warm sake and cold beer, both of which were reasonably priced. I also ordered hot tea toward the end, as the ahe atmosphere inside is a little cold -- literally: I kept my coat on the whole time. (Well, it was figuratively cold as well: there were a lot of tables in the room, which made for a louder experience, especially as many of them were larger groups with children.) The servers were not rude, but not friendly either -- they pretty much just brought the food and left. The food was left to be the star of the show, and oh my, what a star it was. I'm already planning a return trip!

They have the BEST sushi ever. I have traveled and they win. GIANT rolls. Fresh. Delish. Spicy Tuna=AMAZING. Great lunch special. You will be stuffed. The problem: The service sucks. Just get the sushi accept this. It is worth it. If they upped the service... 6 stars.

I have eaten here a couple of times and I like going here if I need Sushi in Towson. The restaurant ambiance is nice and simple, and the staff is helpful. They had a wide range of special rolls. However, the overall quality was only OK to me. We sat at the sushi bar the last time and the sushi chefs were nice and knowledgeable. I return there on a regular basis, and love their tuna. Their rolls that are cooked are not to my taste however, just a word of warning. Fresh, charming, and nice. It's good. I've had better, and I've had worse.

A little bit off the beaten path. I have only eaten here at lunch, so my review is based on that. Tip: Get the lunch special! The Lava roll is my go to lunch. I get 2 of those (with an extra side of seaweed salad). Cool Koi pond as you come in. Hot towels as you arrive. Solid 4 stars.

We love Sushi Hana especially for carryout. I have a lot of food allergies and their staff is always helpful pointing me in the right direction! Some of the best in the area!

My sushi here was 'OK' . "Meh, I've experienced better " is probably the perfect way of putting it. Just a few things I will touch very briefly on to why I gave it 2 stars. Tid bit : I've eaten sushi from over sea's , places far inland where getting your hands on a very fresh source is sometimes a little weighted (like Colorado where they rave about WAHOO ) , to right along the coasts of California & Florida. While I dont consider myself a sushi "SNOB" , I do have taste sensory as acute to a dogs sense of smell. Take that as you will. ~So my boyfriend and I , after a long day of walking around hand in hand for hours, recognize we hear each others tummies growling , so we stop here. There's 2 tables already occupied as we enter ( two other couples) and we are seated promptly . *NICE! No waiting* So onto the review ^_^/ 1.) Choosing the sushi was as easy as using a check list thats provided. Check , check and done. This is what I want. Give it to me . ~Him~ Some soup with broth and random fish bitss ~Me~ Miso Soup Sushi ordered : 2 Dragon Rolls, 1 Sweet Potato , 1 Philadelphia Roll ( Ye yaEEEE! REP!) , 2 California rolls, 1 Spicy Tuna and 2 Quail Egg. 2.) I get my Miso soup first , then my delicikins gets his some few minutes later. Then we are bombarded with all the sushi . Having to hurry up sipping my soup to clear space for the server to plop everything down. **At this point , the place really started filling up!!*** 3.) There was a lot of rice to veggies and fish with these sushi. They were HUGE! I know people like to get more for your money , but even I seen the filler mentality here. On top of that , it was dry . My bebe's Dragon rolls were swimming in the sauce thats suppose to be DRIZZLED. I just didnt get what in all f***s happened vOv 1 piece of sushi embodied my whole MOUTH! I looked like a chipmunk tryna eat it .. Lawd. So yeah , this is long enough. Would I go back? Sure. Would I suggest the place? Not really. It also got really fuggin loud. My partner and I were almost yelling to talk If my honey wanted to desperately go back? Sure *shrugs* , I love the man. All that being said, it gets a 2 star . Boom .

This is my Favorite place for Sushi close to Home. I have been coming here when it was the only sushi Hanna in town. Killer Godzilla roll and the I like that roll. The Calamari and sea weed Salads are awsome.

I'll give them 2 stars for the quality of their sushi rolls. That is about the only good thing at this place. I just left there after having lunch with my girlfriend (both of us are servers in the Baltimore area). I kid you not, it was the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. We didn't have the best service the first time, however, nothing could have topped this one. We sat at a table for about 15 minutes before getting waited on, even while the same waitress passed our table numerous times. After receiving our salads, which consisted of browning lettuce and a cup of ginger dressing, the waitress continued to speak to her coworker in their native tounge, laughing and pointing at us as if they had done something to our food. We decided to order our sushi through the bar because they seemed to be the only people in that place that respected our service. After moving their, I think the waitress knew she wasn't getting any of our tip and then decided to act like we were the only people in the place. I like to think of myself as open minded when it comes to eating at restaurants with different nationalities, but this service was downright embarrassing and has definitely ruined my day.

I'm kind of disappointed with the food here. I had a lot higher expectation seeing the awards and articles on the wall when I was walking in. A co-worker ordered a jack and coke and the glass came out half full, like someone drank half of it and served it. Our server said that's how it usually is served, I think it looked cheap... at least put some more ice in it and make it look like a full glass! I ordered cold tofu and some sushi. Nothing special about the cold tofu. Little cubes of tofu with a bowl for dipping. Nothing fancy. The scallop on a stick appetizer came out with everything else and was tasty. Overall I would give it a 3.5. If I was in the mood for sushi I would rather go to Umi-Sake

I have been coming to Sushi Hana for over 15 years with my father and have never had a bad meal. The main sushi chef Jackie is wonderful and is always willing to give you recommendations and teach you about the different types of fish. The owners wife is a sweetheart always greets me with a hug. Not only do the sushi rolls taste amazing, the chefs value appearance and plate their dishes as if it is a piece of artwork. My current favorite roll (it changes often) is the Paradise Roll because of how fresh it tastes as well as the Lava Roll. I can always get down for the Salmon Skin Handroll as well. Although it is not on the menu and you are craving a great salad other than the staples, order a cucumber avocado salad and make sure they don't forget the sesame seeds. It is crisp, fresh and delicious to pair with your sushi. This place is highly recommended and it is a great place to take first timers as well as seasoned sushi eaters for an incredible meal.

Recently visited Baltimore for a mini vacation and decided to have my last vacation meal at Sushi Hana. We you first walk in you can hear and see a beautiful water structure with Koi fish swimming around. My friend and I were seated promptly around 3 pm with no waiting whatsoever. The waitrwss brought out two nice and got steamed towles to cleanse our hands, which was really nice and ellivated the expirence. My friend ordered a seaweed salad and two rolls, spicy tuna and the dragon roll. I ordered the seafood salad and two rolls, salmon and eel. The salads arrived first and we're delicious. The seaweed salad was very fresh and smelled amazing. My friend enjoyed it as it is a staple for her to order when getting sushi. My seafood salad was very delicious and it being a first time ever order I am going to get it again. The seafood salad came with a mixture of tina and salmon in a lovely marinade sided with sliced avocado. Next to arrive were the rolls. The rolls were equally as delightful. Having tasted three of the four my rankings are as follows, spicy tuna, eel then salmon. Overall I had a great time at Sushi Hana, the food was great, service was attentive and the company was welcoming.

This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant, but it has changed. Last night, the service was almost as bad as the food, and the food made me sick! I will never go back.

Pretty good but not amazing sushi, coming from someone who eats a lot of very expensive Japanese cuisine in Annapolis. If you don't eat sushi often or don't mind the just-ok stuff, this is a great option. Tastes fresh with no concern for food poisoning or any similar health risks. I know a lot of people check out sushi on yelp to make sure they aren't going to get sick, you'll be fine. Spicy tuna rolls are one of the best things I've had. It's nice inside with a coy pond and will definitely satisfy your sushi craving. I've gotten take out and dined in. Take out is fast and they give you small containers of all fixings necessary. I got a platter of my favorite things for a pretty reasonable price considering the amount of food it was. It's true- they don't serve drinks with a straw.

I'm having a hard time writing it professionally, but I'm going to just be straight honest. It troubled me there wasn't any prices on the menu.. shooting in the dark or maybe they can just change the rates on busier nights. The nice lady took our order wearing cleaning gloves.. Who's to say she didn't just clean the bathrooms. Then we get the food, my wife struggled and almost needed a spoon to actually eat her sushi because it kept falling apart if you even looked at it. The whole time we are there the door from the kitchen to the front desk is opening and closing slowly but with the most god awful squeaking noise you could imagine. To the point where I went up to ask the young girl who kept playing with her hair if she could tell someone to fix it with any type of oil possible, she smiled and acted as if its been an issue forever. Sat down, never had the door stop making the noise. When we get the bill, I realize my wife ordered $33 worth of garbage she had to literally use her fingers to eat. To put more salt on the wound.. I'm a nice person and still had to add a tip to the $50 dinner we just hated. If you want sushi and really don't care about reviews.. go ahead and eat there. I'll never set foot in that dump again. To the point where I had to make sure I wrote this review within the hour.

Decent sushi place and I will probably be back. The service was not that great. I felt like they were not attentive and on top of their game. If a roll or dish is not listed on that sheet you fill out for your order, they expect you to just know to write it on the back. Not a problem, just give people the heads up. Their beer is a little pricey. I went with the 24 oz Soppora. *They also brew Soppora in Canada, not just Japan, but whatever it adds to the experience. The rolls were all great and had large pieces of fresh fish. The tuna was my favorite. Everyone was satisfied with their rolls. Furthermore the price of the rolls was decent for sushi and right in line with just about everywhere else. All in all, it was good experience and our group had fun. We will be back. I hope the service is better. (It is not like they didn't speak English.) Unfortunately it is the only sushi place in town that has been good.

Sushi was as expected at a place where waitresses wear fake kimonos with sneakers. In my experience, legitimate places either go all out and wear it correctly, or they wear "regular" clothes, since they're not relying on their get up to draw people in. The rice in the sushi didn't taste especially sushi rice-like. If you're health-conscious or at least worried about your blood pressure, my husband and I did a blind taste-test of the two soy sauces, and couldn't tell that one was less salty than the other. My gripe with it, though, is that this made it harder to not overly-salt my sushi when dipping. Teriyaki beef was overcooked, and the rice that came with was dry. I feel that the people who rate this place so highly must be college students, though prices aren't exactly cheap, as is usually the case for places catering to that population.

Just had a pretty good dinner, service was adequate. Prices on Happy Hour (3:30-6:30) Specials were very good values. But regular priced Tempura Items were overpriced and not as good as they once were. Tempura Batter was Soggy and not Crisp. And to spend $32 on the two Tempura plates one that had ten shrimp split in half and the other with $2.00 worth of vegetables seems excessive.

Hard to give this restaurant 2 stars because the service was good but the sushi was not. We got 4 rolls for pick up and we were pretty disappointed with all the roles. The worst roll was the salmon dynamite roll. It was cooked with mayo on top. It did not smell good and we could not eat a piece. The other rolls were ok. I would go back though because the service was nice.

The sushi had good flavor and seemed fresh. I am torn as I write this because I had concerns about cleanliness due seeing fruit flies and the fact the hot moist towel they brought me smelled mildewy or like standing water.

I would definitely recommend this location to anyone wanting to dine-in with friends or family for a great evening of sushi. I have been here several times but this was my boyfriends first time. We went to meet up with and have dinner with a friend from school just to catch up. Sushi Hana is a great welcoming and classy environment, especially in the evening when they dim the lights and get the place feeling cozy. Now the main appeal, SUSHI! I've had many of their specialty rolls as well as easy rolls (e.g. Shrimp Tempura, crab salad, etc) but I have to say that everything on their menu is really enjoyable and special to this location. We went with the New York Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, Dynamite Roll and something else we can't remember off the top of our head. Surprisingly the Sweet Potato roll was delicious. We expected it to taste funky with the rice but on the contrary, it was phenomenal. The New York Roll had quite a zing to it with the apple and summer taste to it and the raw Dynamite roll was to die for! The seating is great. They have two separate bars, one on the top level and one on the lower level. There's a very cute koi fish fountain when you enter that sets the mood for dinner. The seating is intimate yet friendly. As said before, I recommend Sushi Hana for any sit-down dinner in a heart beat. If you are looking for a fast sushi meal, I recommend you walk literally 100 yards to Kyodai Rotating Sushi bar. It's also phenomenal. =)

This place is now my favorite place for sushi. We were just there last week for lunch and it was amazing! The prices were great and such a good value for what you get. The food was fresh and portions were plentiful. Service is top notch too. That's it- the short and sweet of it is that this place rocks!

Highly recommend checking out the specialty sushi menu (the cheat sheet is on their website!) - it offers so many creative rolls with a variety of ingredients! Recently had the Bruce & Shawn rolls and both were awesome! Everything tasted super fresh & the added sauces/spices complimented the fish and seafood perfectly! Can't wait to go back to try more!!

Definitely not the best sushi. Fresh sushi should not smell or taste like fish! Also, they need to take their customers' suggestions more seriously instead of laughing it off. Have been here a few times but each visit has been successively disappointing. No more sushi hana for me. There are better places in Towson.

This place used to be my favorite Sushi place around. At one time, I would put it up there with Sushi Sono in Columbia or Joss down in Annapolis. Now, I'm not sure this is even in the Top 3 Sushi restaurants in Towson. Attention to detail has fallen off since the new Sushi Hana in Timonium opened. Service quality is sporadic . Food quality isn't what it used to be. I've even had to send sushi back, something I've never done at another sushi place. This place isn't terrible, and will do fine in a sushi emergency, but I'd plan ahead and check out other places nearby.

I'd recommend this place if you're really into dynamite rolls and being an idiot. The sushi was terrible. Too much rice. Nothing special about the rice. Sashimi included imitation crab. Really. This was about the least authentic sushi experience I've ever suffered through. The only reason I give it two stars is a) the area doesn't have much better, and b) the front staff person was great. Maybe it was an off night. I don't know.

Best sushi place I've ever been to! I've gone to a ton of sushi restaurants, but this one was the most memorable. Great atmosphere. Spicy Tuna, regular Tuna, and surprisingly, salmon, are all excellent choices. Everyone I've taken to this sushi bar ends up falling in love with this place. Relax here, take your time, have a few drinks (beer!), splurge! Enjoy it. If you are passing through Baltimore, make the detour to Towson. It's not that far out of the way and completely worth it.

Temptation Roll!!!!!!!!! The Bomb!!!!! Rolls are yummy and big, my new Sushi spot in Towson. Only problem here is that their service is too slow, we waited 20 minutes for them to take our order and another extra 10 minutes to get our drinks (sprite/green tea).

Came here this past Sunday for lunch and I have to say I was impressed for the most part. I had california and shrimp tempura rolls which were really good. The spicy mayo was on point as well. I'll be back for sure to try something else :)

Pretty bad. Didn't like the roll options. The rice didn't taste good, and the fish were not fresh. We were sat in an isolated corner even though the restaurant was empty. Would not go back.

This used to be my favorite sushi place UNTIL i was sitting at the sushi bar and found a ROACH crawling by my food. I wanted to vomit but i handled the situation pretty well. The waitress was rude and thought i was going to pay when i didnt even eat my food. When i told her i wasnt paying she got upset so i asked for management. The manger was understanding and didnt allow me to pay. I really dont think this place have been expected. If roaches dont bother you.. be my guest and eat here =)

Since I've moved to MD, I've looked for a great japanese restaurant that is close by and reasonably priced. Something that if was placed in So Cal, would not have been shut down due to lack in flavor and authenticity. After I couldn't find anything within 5 miles, I tried 10, to 15, to 20. I've hoped to locate a great place in Towson and decided to try Sushi Hana. First lets say the initial impression was bad. I'm not talking about the outside appearance, which is lacking, but the lack of a welcome from the servers. It seemed like my husband and I were imposing on them for a seat. After being seated we were given menus and left to our devices. After a while they came to ask if we wanted drinks. After ordering tea (which is over priced at $2), we were given cups with generic tea bags (if its $2 a person, I would expect more than a cheap tea in a bag). The cups were way too hot that you could not drink out of it till its cooled down considerably since there isn't a cup handle on the cups. Very dangerous and burned our hands. They should consider new cups or reduce the water temperature. I've had tea out of the japanese cups and never had this problem before. We ordered veggie tempura and two roll special. The rolls were not good. My husband said the fish did not taste fresh and had a wierd after taste. It also seemed like they were unwilling to use enough nori to wrap the whole roll. The nori didn't completely encircle the roll causing it to break up when we picked it up. The only pluses were the tempura which was good, and the salad and miso which came with the rolls. Definitely will continue to look for sushi that will make me come back for more, but at this point my search radius will have to increase significantly.

I've been coming here for years; it's a great place to come with friends and family. I'd recommend sitting at the bar if you can get a seat. Wonderful sushi rolls; some of my favorite in and near the city.

Goodness, gracious! I've been here twice over a period of about two years. This restaurant has two things going for it; 1) Fresh fish 2) Consistency The one thing the restaurant has going against it is the "sushi chefs" consistently prepare their fresh fish in a fashion nowhere near that of a real Nihon Resutoran (Japanese Restaurant). If you're looking for authentic Japanese food you won't find it here. However, if you like California rolls and dishes which use "Japanese Mayo", then this may very well be the place to suit your cravings. A sampling of this restaurant's shortcomings: - Way too much rice is used on Nigiri-style sushi. - Ponzu sauce is not available, even though they serve dishes like Hamachi-Kama. - Tataki dishes, like Tuna Tataki, are not tataki. The Japanese word "tataki" means "pounded" or "hit into pieces". The tataki dishes here are huge chunks of fish. Larger, in fact, than the pieces used with their sashimi and nigiri offerings. For those who may speak Japanese, you won't be able to use those language skills here.

This is my go-to place for sushi. The portions are great, the price is reasonable and the staff are very friendly and quick! Sushi Hana is the closest I've found to authentic sushi in the Baltimore area. The fish is fresh, cold, colorful and properly cut, and the rice is perfectly seasoned. They also offer many inventive/ Americanized rolls and other dishes for customers looking for that type of food. I probably would have passed up this place if judging only by the exterior of the building, which isn't much to look at. Luckily I went on the recommendation of a friend and never looked back. It's particularly fun to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs prepare the different rolls (plus, you tend to get service even quicker that way!).

What a disappointment. I ordered naruto roll. Which looked sloppy and the cucumber peel was way too thick. Even though mackerel sashimi and salmon sushi tasted fresh all that was served on the cracked plate which I thought was a piece of hair at first. Yak! Will not be coming back.

We stop here every time we're in Towson. My boyfriend loves the salmon tempura roll, and he always gets once. From the outside, this place is very unassuming, but it's very nice on the inside. I usually get edamame and veggie tempura and it always comes out crispy and delicious. My brother and his girlfriend came with us last time we went and they liked everything they tried except for the roll that was wrapped in cucumber because it was almost impossible to eat. Highly recommend this joint.

BEST SUSHI EVER. I've been going here for years, and it's always amazing. And the rolls are massive so you definitely get your money's worth. My favorite is the Maryland Roll (they don't skimp on the crab! And it's real crabmeat, so you can't go wrong). The Godzilla Roll is also really good. (Avocado and deep fried awesomeness. Perfect) They also give you random asian candy at the end of the meal, which is pretty cool. I took off a star for service...they can be reallyyy slow sometimes. Or they'll forget to give you random things (like utensils or water) and then you have to repeatedly remind them for it. But seriously, go here. Because it's fantastic.

The portions are a little smaller then I have seen at other places, but the quality of top notch. Service was very good, as was the interior setting. I would happily return.

My overall assessment - This place is.... Pretty good for the Towson area. I have a general rule against going to sushi places run by other than Korean or Japanese folks...why? Well, because the tradition of eating raw fish is actually in Korean and Japanese culture. Based on that little history lesson, most of the places I have been to that are run by other than the two cultures mentioned above are often pretty disappointing. With that said, let me begin my review of this Chinese-run sushi place. They do a pretty good job, but I have some serious points here that you may want to consider before you go: 1. Sitting at the bar is a MUST a. Bad fish vs. Good fish i. I saw some bad pieces of fish lying in the refrigerated case that they used on other meals going to tables but not on ours because we were sitting there watching. 1. We ordered a few rolls and some sashimi a. Fish was fresh, had the right temperature and had the right texture. ii. We saw some really interesting dishes going out. The cubed Tuna tartare appetizer looked amazing (they used a new piece of tuna for this order). b. Technique i. The guy who makes the sashimi is pretty good, but the guy who does the rolls...FORGET IT. He smashes the rice into the nori and makes a HUGE thick layer of rice that overpowers the amount of fish... So wrong in every way. c. Hygiene i. The guy who makes the rolls - I watched him clean out the sink drain and go back to making rolls...... ew 2.. Service a. The service was pretty good. They were attentive and helpful. 3. The Food: a. We order tempura on top of our sushi order - overly battered with t the wrong kind of batter. b. The green tea had an awful taste.. metallic almost. With that said, the food was not bad - but I imagine that my review might have been different if I had not sat at the bar and been served the good fish

We chose this place based on mixed reviews and I found food here to be on par with Sushi you would find at Chinese buffet. Fish was mediocre but rice had too much moisture and it was compacted tightly, just like the ones I had at Chinese buffet. So basically I was getting Chinese buffet style sushi without Chinese food at a marked up price. I would not recommend anyone going here from quality and value point.

This place is deceiving. From the outside it looks sketch, but the inside is beautifully decorated, clean and much larger than it seems. The sushi was ok. It wasn't anything fantastic. It was more expensive than some of the other places we've been to for sushi in Towson as well. It's also quite noisy. Overall it was ok, nothing memorable. We'll skip this place and just go to Kyodai; more for the money.

Good sushi. Decent service. Not sure about the dollar up charge for a small side of eel sauce. But other than that I liked it. You don't get as much pieces in a roll as some other places but the pieces that they give you are pretty large and taste pretty good. Overall this is a good sushi place. Been to better ones (arigato).
(3)

I've been to Sushi Hana several times and have always had really good, fresh sushi. We usually get an assortment of rolls and sashimi along with warm sake. Sometimes the service is a little slow, so if you're in a hurry I'd try Kyodai, a rotating sushi bar a few blocks away. It's decent and quick. If you're ok with sitting and staying awhile I'd highly recommend you give Sushi Hana a try. It's one of my favorite local sushi places.

I'm really in a fix trying to write a review for Sushi Hana. As a sushi restaurant, it's a flop. As a generic Japanese restaurant, it's OK. Food from the hot kitchen is not bad, actually. Tempura's cooked just right and generous. Soups and noodles are all right, too. Haven't had teriyaki dishes at Sushi Hana, but I imagine that they would be adequate as well. But this joint's called SUSHI Hana, not Teriyaki Hana or Udon Hana. And as such - yelpers, go find yourself a better sushi joint and give it a try. If you think this is the ne-plus-ultra of raw fish, you are in for a pleasant surprise. They call themselves a sushi restaurant, so it's on their sushi that they shall be judged. Generic bagged fannings-grade green tea - unacceptable in a sushi joint. Rolls are a mixed bag - some are interesting and tasty, some are bland and uninspired. The classic rolls are pretty uniformly bleh. Nigirzushi is too big - more than can comfortably be eaten as a single mouthful. The fish is too big, and the rice it sits on is a dense mouth-clogging ball. Ama ebi are served without heads, an omission that wins no points. The worst of it is that the rice, that substance from which sushi gets its name, is bland and cold. Sushi rice should be slightly acidic from the addition of vinegar, and slightly warm underneath the cool fish. This is the foundation of good sushi - not how big a chunk of tuna you get or how much fake crab is in your California roll. And this is what sinks Sushi Hana.

This is a decent place to get sushi at Towson. In fact, this is one of the only places in Towson that you can get great sushi at a decent price. I have been there a few times in the evening, and the atmosphere is very comfortable.

I've been here 3 times and each time I hope that it's better...but it's not. I have tried, but I do not see what all the rage is about with this place claiming it to be "the best sushi place". I wouldn't go that far at all...! They do have a great selection in sushi but I don't think the sushi taste that great. I find that all of their rolls have way to much rice in them. It's like eating a big ball of rice...where is the fish?? The atmosphere is so-so. I have been to many sushi places and I'd have to say this is probably my least favorite... In addition, I'd like to say that I don't see myself as particularly picky...but I really, really, really don't see how people are claiming this to be one of the best sushi places around...It's mediocre at best.

Hands down this is my favorite sushi place in the area. The Bruce Roll is always my go-to roll with a bowl of Miso soup with a glass of reisling. As a single person, I have no qualms about going into the sushi bar and sitting by myself as the servers are always nice and attentive and the sushi bar staff is polite and inviting. It's often a bit cold when I've been in there, so take a jacket! And I prefer to sit in the downstairs area both because it's warmer and because the service sometimes seems more attentive there, whereas I've been forgotten a few times when I've been upstairs (it's only a few steps to the "upstairs" area....but at times can be worlds away with service) Even with those few little issuse, when I think of sushi, I think of Sushi Hana in Towson first! In fact, going to stop there tomorrow while in Towson!

This was the 1st place I ate Sushi about 6 years ago and I fell in love. There isn't a roll they don't make exceptionally well and the service is great. Owners of the place could stand to update the decor a bit but the food is so wonderful I wouldn't care if I was eating it out of a dumpster. My favorite roll is the Mojo Roll.. its a mouthful so be prepared. The godzilla roll is another must have.

At first glance this place looks quite sketchy. Smack dab in the middle of Towson it claims to be one of the best sushi places in the area. I have only been there once, and for the record it was not that great. Place is casual with waiters that forget that you are there sometimes. My friends and I ordered some appitizers and sushi and they came at a slow speed. I prefer the rotating sushi bar that is two blocks away much more to this place. I can get more of what I want for a better place at the pace I want. This place is a no-no for me.

I have been to many sushi restaurants around the Baltimore area and I must say Sushi Hana by far has the best sushi rolls around the Towson area. They are flavorful and the sashimi are good here too. The sushi chefs are generous with the portion size of these sushi as well! The spicy tuna handrolls are my favorite here!

Towson's best sushi is at Sushi Hanna on Penn. Ave. They have a wide selection sushi as well Japanese cuisine and deserts. While getting multiple items can be pricey, they portions are quite generous so don't let your eyes get bigger than your stomach! They also have great miso soup. My recommendation: the spicy tuna hand roll is like a big ice cream cone of sushi!

My boyfriend and I went here to eat and the sushi is usually pretty good until one day we saw a cockroach leg in my drink and saw a nat in our soy sauce. I immediately showed the bugs in discreet to the owner and she gave us an annoyed expression and cleaned it. We disregarded thinking she would at least replace the the drink with the leg but instead we got a full priced check, no replacement and no apology or anything whatsoever. I will never come here again. The food may be good but the sanitation and service sucks. I serve myself and if I dealt with a customer that had not one but two bugs in their food or drinks, I would offer something in apology or give a discount. That was just plain disgusting.

More of an upscale sushi place. The rolls are expensive. The service is mediocre and not attentive. The place is nice on the inside but not worth the price when there are cheaper places right near by. rolls were very good and big

seaweed salad + salmon sunrise roll = GOOD Best sushi I ever had? No, come on, it's Towson! But it's not bad at all...

Some of the best sushi I have ever had, especially for the price. Amazing rolls and amazing sashimi.

When I visit Towson I expect nothing but amazing seafood. Not going to lie, Sushi Hana does not make the cut. I came here with coworkers after we flew into town. Now this could have been an off night but the service was pretty awful, the waitress was ready to take off before we gave her our drink orders and brought our managers meal (chicken teriyaki) 20 min after everyone else got their rolls. We ordered spicy tuna, dragon, and some fancy sweet dessert roll which was not my favorite. The sushi was pretty tasteless but not awful, I would rate is at a 5.5 out of 10. I would definitely recommend going elsewhere if you're in the mood to get your roll on.

The sushi was totally awful. It turns out it was the fault of the rice, it tasted sour and mushy. I have a consistently better experience from a grocery store bin. The yellow-tail was tougher than it should have been. When we politely notified the waitress, we were just told maybe they used too much vinegar or something. We were good sports until we didn't get comp'd or anything. Also, the tea refill is just adding more water on top of your used teabag, I found it a bit insulting. Out of 3 rolls, all had the issue with the rice, and another had a hard and unripened avocado. Why bother! Mediocre or bad sushi is worse than no sushi at any price. The Falls Rd Sushi Hana is consistently good with a better atmosphere and service. Towson's Sushi Hana is the worst sushi out of the six or seven places I've visited in my 2 years in Baltimore. Won't be going back.

I had heard wonderful things about Sushi Hana, but I have been only once in 2008 and will never go again.I went there excited to try the "authentic", "delicious" sushi that I had heard people(who went there over a year ago) tell me about. We had a reservation that we made at 2pm for 7pm that evening and we arrived 5 minutes early. The atmosphere wasn't what I was expecting; it seemed kind-of cheap - I was expecting it to look very authentic and Japanese, but there was just cheap wood paneling and the seats were crowded together had nothing special about them at all. Let's just say I have been to Chinese buffets that looked better. The hostess was not at her podium when we arrived and there was a huge line of people with reservations wanting to be seated. When she arrived she took everyone with reservation's names and then continued to seat people on the walk-in list! What is the point of getting a reservation? We then saw that hostess waiting tables! No wonder she wasn't up front! My boyfriend and I were seated about 30 minutes later and the hostess literally threw the menus on the table and walked away. We received no "Welcome" or anything. On their menu are various cooked Japanese dishes(Katsudon, Teriyaki, Tempura, Udon, etc) along with just about any plain Sushi Rolls(Spicy Tuna Rolls, Eel Rolls, California Rolls, the usual) and a separate menu that has NO prices listed for Special Rolls(the more complicated rolls that are a combination of the plain rolls). I guess they didn't want to scare people away with the prices. Everything on the menu is rather expensive. The Japanese meal dishes were all between $10 and $30(though Lunch is between $6 and $9), Appetizers are between $3 and $12, the plain rolls were between $3 and $12 each, and the Special rolls we ordered were $12 and $13. Again, I was expecting some authentic Japanese rolls, but they were all just the American sushi rolls or plain rolls. Shortly after a young couple was seated next to us and they were waited on. No one came to take our order or ask us what we wanted to drink or anything so my boyfriend called on the waitress who waited on the couple next to us. We quickly gave her our order (we ordered vegetable Shu Mai for appetizer, an Eel Roll, and 2 special rolls:one with Eel and Tempura Shrimp, and the other a Crunchy Salmon roll with Salmon and Panko) and she never asked for drinks so we just drank the free water that everyone gets. We waited about 30 minutes before our appetizer (shu mai) came. They were tasty, but it wasn't very much at all and we ate it within a few minutes, our stomachs still grumbling, feeling teased by that tiny appetizer. Over an hour later the people next to us were served their sushi so we figured we would be served within 10 minutes. Oh was that wishful thinking! Long after the couple next to us had left, the waitress came by and asked if we had already eaten our sushi. Um NO, we told her we never received anything, so she said she would go to the kitchen and see about it. She came back 5 minutes later and said ours was coming up (meaning she had probably JUST put our order in). We waited over 2 hours for our food! The couple next to us had eaten, paid, and left, and a new family was seated there before we got our food. When it did come, the waitress kept saying "sorry, sorry" and put a tiny plate of 2 pieces of nigiri sushi on the table separate from our order, so we figured it was on the house for the terrible wait. We ate it along with the undercooked eel that was covered in fish bones, probably from cutting the sushi with a dirty knife! The extra nigiri rolls they had given us had a pleasant taste, but the fish itself had a strange tough tendon attached that was very hard to chew, which was a very strange texture next the the blubbery fish. The Crunchy Salmon roll was the best of the ones we received although the menu stated that the Panko breadcrumbs were on the inside of the roll, they were just sprinkled on top so that they fell off when you picked the roll up to eat it. I have a feeling they may have just put some Panko on top of a regular Salmon roll instead of making the correct one I asked for.. So it wasn't the fantastic sushi we were expecting at all. When the check came, we saw that we were charged for the two pieces of nigiri that we didn't order and that we thought were on the house.. and it happened to be Otoro! (the most expensive sushi on the menu, Tuna Belly!) The waitress INSISTED that we had a conversation with her when we ordered about wanting Tuna Belly and that she told us they only had the expensive Otoro and that we said we wanted to try it. When she brought back our order slips, the otoro was marked in pen while the rest of our order was in pencil.. how convincing. The Manager then came and yelled at us "you ate it, you pay!". Thoroughly sick of being there, we paid (even left a tip!) and will never return.

The best Sushi spot I ever been. It's small and intimate. When I introduced my boyfriend to Sushi Hana, he fell in love. This is our spot! We wont even eat sushi without each other! If we do we feel like we're cheating on each other. lol!

I don't claim to be an authentic sushi expert, but I'm also not the newb getting rolls from the grocery store and thinking there's a Japan master in the back of Safeway working his magic either. Sushi Hana didn't disappoint at all. It wasn't the best in Baltimore, but it was pretty good. The rolls held together, the ingredients were fresh. My husband got fried rice and enjoyed it. We would eat there more often if we lived in Towson, but there is better sushi in Harford County where we live.

I'm surprised people think this is the best sushi in Baltimore. It isn't, but it certainly isn't the worst either. The unagi is good enough, and the California roll is something you can't go wrong with. However, the chicken teriyaki is pretty terrible. Very chewy. The tempura ice cream is really good though. I don't eat here very often since my boyfreind always gets sick from the food.

I was a little skeptical based on the yelp reviews. BUT, I had heard excellent word of mouth reviews so we tried it anyway. We kept our order small but were very impressed. I eat sushi about 3 time a week. I do not consider myself an expert, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to taste, smell or see old/bad fish. The fish here was flavorful and high quality. The staff was very attentive and the food came out quickly... too quickly maybe! We started with the Miso. A simple dish, but it was excellent. It came out piping hot which made it nice to savor and talk while slowly eating and now devouring. Just as the soup became a consumable temperature our rolls came out. We ordered a rainbow, yellowtail, and alaska roll. Our only complaint was they were not rolled very tightly. The fish had great flavor and the prices for the basic rolls were very reasonable. I would eat here again.

I've eaten at Sushi Hana a couple of times, and the sushi was good, but nothing spectacular. They do have a large selection of special rolls, and the ingredients sound good, but the ones I ordered were mushy, for lack of a better description. I had a shrimp tempura roll which tasted bland, some other special rolls with tuna and eel and crab meat, and it all tasted and felt ... mushy. But maybe my review isn't fair, because I've been spoiled by Chiyo Sushi's amazing sushi, so most other sushi places I go to pale in comparison. Sushi Hana is convenient because it's right there in Towson, but I would definitely recommend checking out Chiyo Sushi in Mount Washington, just 10 minutes away. Edit- I've been back here since moving to Towson, and the rolls have definitely gotten better. I like the fact that the rolls I've gotten don't have an excess of rice. My husband and I order from here reguarly!

Great Sushi and great service. The Spicey Tuna is probably a little too big! You can barely fit it in your mouth. But hey, if that's the only thing bad I can say about them then they'll be fine. Best place to get Sushi if you're in Towson.

Good variety with reasonable prices. Good location - easy to find. Waiter needs to take a little gingko otherwise expect him to take 3 go-arounds to remember to bring you something (although the general service was good). Sushi was good, but definitely not the greatest. It was my first exposure to sushi in the Baltimore area, and I will be extremely disappointed if it is 'the best in town.' a friend and I shared the California, Dynamite, and Phoenix rolls. Respectively- too much cucumber, decent with good spicy tuna, and non-traditional with tempura chicken (?!?) inside.

No frills Sushi in a quaint atmosphere. The restaurant is casual and kitschy looking if not a little rough around the edges, but no bother. The chefs here are all about the sushi and less about presentation. We've been here several times, but it's been a few years since our last visit. This past Saturday we were in Towson and decided to stop. I highly recommend the Age Tofu (fried tofu) and the Oishinki (Japanese pickles) as starters. The Age Tofu is topped with generous amounts of Bonito Flakes (shaved dried tuna). The Oishinko are particularly good although I would be hard pressed to tell you what any of it is. Just eat it. If you don't know, it can't hurt you. We ordered 6 maki rolls for 3 people and in most Sushi restaurants that would be delightful light dinner, but here, it's almost more food than you can eat. (Again, Lester, I said "almost"). I liked the spicy scallop roll, but wish it had been spicier. The Dragon Ball rolls were quite tasty, each piece was tempura battered and fried. We also tried the Philadelphia roll and Double Salmon roll. Big rolls rolls for no more than $5.00 each! My favorite was the Fuji Roll which was a combination of eel, tamago (sweet omelet), tobiko, cream cheese and salmon. Quite good and a favorite for the entire table. As I mentioned, there are no "artful" platter presentations here or hip trendy decor. What you get instead is high quality sushi, maki and sashimi at below average prices and above average quantities. Can you say "VALUE"?

I'm continually pissed at my youngest brother, who seems to be both far better versed in sushi, as well as eating it far more often than I do. So whenever I can, I try to con him into going for sushi with me. Because he'll try new things, and he'll also encourage me to do the same. We were supposed to be going to a different place for lunch a Sunday or two ago, but it turns out they're not even open on Sundays. Bummer. So we headed Towson way to see if any of the places over there were open. Luckily for us, Sushi Hana was. We were seated right away and the service was satisfactory all around for us (it wasn't very crowded and their were several waitstaff there, so I can't speak for peak times). We ordered... six rolls? I can't speak for their authenticity or anything like that, but damn were they tasty. I like the raw fish as much as the next person, and likely more than some, but when I go out for sushi, I usually gravitate towards rolls, as I enjoy the combinations of flavors and love to see what the chefs come up with. We ordered the Greenbay roll, a Philly roll, Black Pearl, Fantastic Roll, an eel roll... and something else that I can't remember off the top of my head. One of the few places around that does a spicy scallop roll, which always pleases me, even though I didn't order it this time. All of them were tasty, and the portions were humongous. We invariably order more than we can eat, but this was excessive even for us. I will say this: don't bother ordering a soda. Just stick to water. I had a diet coke that cost two bucks but was a $.60 can of coke poured into a glass. And little joints like this never do free refills. And the dessert we ordered left quite a lot to be desired, even though it sounded interesting. Tasty, tasty food to be had here.

The sushi here is very good. Whenever we don't know what to do for dinner, Sushi Hana is our "fall back" restaurant. They have a huge selection and can probably make you anything you want. We've always had fast service and will keep going back. It's also a fun place to go with a group of friends and all sample different plates, sit around, drink and have a fun evening.

The food is good, the service was good and waitress nice. For a restaurant, there is some decorating that needs done areas that obviously need cleaned. Ceiling tile needs replaced. Price a little high, more lunch oriented.

Today I had the worst service I've ever had, anywhere, ever! The waitress was very brusque from the start...didn't come to offer us drinks until about 10 minutes when she said are you ready to order and grabbed our sushi menu without clarifying it. Then she forgot our drinks. Then she forgot my appetizer. So luckily I grabbed another waiter and he served us through the rest of the meal. He was very good, but she just disappeared! Did not seem to care to wait on us. I don't know what was wrong....if we looked like awful customers or what. We are not, actually, awful customers.

Sushi Hana is close to Towson University and you will see this place filled with young college kids who are sick of dorm food and any thing other than dorm food/frozen pizza is "excellent". That's why the restaurant is so highly rated among college kids. My only dinning experience at Sushi Hana started with not so professional wait staff. My house salad consisted of only over sized lettuce, the chef probably did not have time to chop it into manageable size. The dressing was slushy and overly sweet. My entree was sukiyaki and I waited for more than 20 minutes for it to arrive. The beef was very stiff and again the broth was overly sweet. I was sitting by the sushi bar observing the chef preparing the sushi. The sushi didn't look very appetizing and the fish did not look fresh. That's the reason I went with Sukiyaki. This place is a disappointment and I will never go there again.

The sushi is awesome! So fresh and tasty, you have got to try the cooked dynamite roll. Pretty reasonably priced considering it compares to the taste of lots of high end sushi bars. Friendly staff too!

Went to school around here and then started working near by. Tried a lot of sushi restaurants around Baltimore and this place has good quality fish, reasonably priced special rolls, and a good authentic atmosphere (even though they're Cantonese speaking). Favorite rolls are the black pearl roll, mark roll, naruto roll, and the lobsterball roll. Other places have the quality but they're too overpriced or they're inexpensive and you wind up getting sick.

Love this place. My favorite sushi place in Baltimore. Huge selection of specialty rolls. Their sushi/sashimi portion sizes are huge. Is a bit pricey, but well worth the cost. Be prepared to spend ~$25-30/person if you want nothing but sushi. Service can be hit or miss, but they're always polite.

Pretty good sushi, and service, from what I can remember at this point. I remember that the sushi was very balanced (not too much rice, or sugar, etc.)

When I first moved to Baltimore, I was staying at a hotel in Towson and ate here every night for 2 weeks. At the time I thought it was amazing, but now reflecting I realize I was just tired of eatting out. This was the best light alternative. The rolls are tasty but small. The actual sushi is great quality and fresh. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. I'm not sure if it's really Japanese operated (I think Chinese) but it's not a bad place, especially for Towson.

I've been here on several occasions and though it was time to write a review! Food: The best in Baltimore I have tasted so far! It's delicious, and ranges from sushi to other tasteful Japanese cuisine if you are not into raw food. Their special rolls are absolutely scrumptious, and they have the ones all Japanese restaurants should have like California, Philly, Dragon, etc. Value: You get your bang for your buck. Expect to pay over $30 sushi for two as an example, especially with special rolls. Selection: From raw sushi, cooked sushi, sashimi, nigiri, udon, teriyaki chicken, etc etc. Something is there to appeal any taste. Decor/Environment: Out of ALL the sushi restaurants I've EVER been to, this place surpasses in decor. There are arcs when you first walk in that resemble the Japanese three pier arch. The female waitresses are in kimonos. There is a small fountain in the front with lots of koi (which are super friendly b/c they expect food from you-- I often "pet" i.e. touch the head of one whenever I leave, haha) It is not a huge place like a buffet, but no small where is has issues when seating 8+. They have rice baskets and the beckoning cat too. It's low-lit, and has an appropriate sushi bar. Service: All right, this one is going to be the hardest to write about, since like most restaurants, it can be a hit or miss. Out of all the times I went, I would say 90% of the time, our waiter/waitress was amiable and attentive. What inspired me to write this review, however, was this waiter, the first male we had. I do not know if it was busy so he was forced to serve us to relieve the tables, but this malewas one of the worst waiters I've ever had. No eye contact and practically threw our plates onto our table. When we wrote down what sushi we wanted, he came over, grabbed the ticket, and was about to leave until we reminded him that not all of us wanted sushi, not to mention we wanted a few appetizers. The worst was when we requested a fork and knife (they only have chopsticks wrapped in their napkins), and he brought us a knife with this chunk of brown stuff on it. We requested another knife, to which he responded "Oh, it's not dirty, it's just old." Really? You attempted to argue a case with a customer with an obviously unclean (old or not) knife? He even held it up to us, as if we could not come to his conclusion ourselves. Needless to say, I've never had a waiter/waitress retort to a customer like he did. My table and I were very close to complaining to the manager. Okay, that was a slight rant-- but just watch out for this guy! Since then, we request to be seated on the "second floor" (just a few steps up to another room) where he does not serve. All in all, this place is wonderful and is definitely worth visiting!

Quite good Sushi. I always get Chirashi- a big pile of Sushi Rice and a big pile of fish. It was delish. I could do without the mess O College Students doing Sake Bombs and making noise in the front room, but they moved me and my friend immediately. Again- Fish, YUM. Quite good, the right temperature, cut, and quality. My friend got one of their many creative rolls, and I was kind of envious. Oh well, I'll have to go back.

Oh.My.God. Hands down the best sushi I've ever had in my entire life. I've been away from my beloved Sushi Hana for a year and ohhhh do I miss it. The Maryland rolls are to die for. I crave them on a daily basis. I spent many birthday dinners there underage and the best part was that they never carded for sake bombs. I've done sake bombs at other places and for some reason it was never as much fun as it was at the Hana. I think I'm getting nostalgic. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because if you went on a Friday or Saturday night, the wait was insane just to sit down. Then when you were actually seated, the food took forever. The servers were always pleasant though and the numerous sake bombs usually helped me forget that I was super hungry. I HIGHLY recommend the Maryland and Philly rolls. Mmmmm.

Good sushi. Started going there in 2005. Never had a bad experience! Always fresh! Friendly service. The new place on Falls Rd is also very good. Prices are inexpensive but not overly expensive either.

I love Sushi Hana! Now that I'm a vegetarian it sucks because I can't eat that bangin ass Tango Roll! I mean damn!! That roll is it! The dynamite rolls were delish too. Yeah it's a little dated but it's the best Sushi in Towson but I don't believe they are Japanese which is fine. Hell, you don't have to be Italian to make good spaghetti! Everything is good here though.

Sushi Hana doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't be fooled. After extensive searching, this restaurant took its place solidly at the top of my Baltimore-area sushi list. I only wish I still lived in the area so that I could visit more often. The rolls are large, colorful, and stuffed with fresh ingredients. Seating is a bit limited, but I've never had much of a problem getting a seat. My only gripe is that the prices are a bit high, but the price is certainly worth the quality. Check it out...

I've lived in NYC for 3 years and still have not been able to find something that beats this small, affordable sushi place. Because it was so long ago, I don't really remember the details, but they definitely had an amazing shrimp tempura & spicy tuna roll.

Totally unimpressive. Edible, but there are too many choices in Towson to waste time here. The dragon roll was actually not that edible - and the soba noodles were sub-par. Atmosphere-wise, it's pretty cheap. Not much style and just one big room. The three people I was with all agreed that Sushi Hana was a choice we wouldn't make again.

i don't think I have had better sushi anywhere else. I have had at least 7 different specialty rolls here and all were very fresh and flavorful. The crispy Philadelphia roll and David roll are two of my favorites. The service is outstanding with very kind and attentive wait staff. The pitcher of sake is a great deal and delightful. The prices are reasonable considering the quality. Don't be fooled by the modest interior and, VERY modest exterior, this place outshines most of the more hip, trendy, and expensive Japanese restaurants in the DMV area.

I've been here several times and though in the beginning it seemed pretty good, lately its been awful. Last two times services was terrible: slow, inattentive, and sushi, although tasty, arrives in several different visits. First one dish, then the next dish 15 minutes later, then the next 15 minutes later, etc. Once the order got lost. Just a weak apology, no discount on that one. Yesterday was the last straw. Same waitress as before, same problems. Too slow, food arrives in too many visits. $50 for two people is kind of expensive so I expect better service for that price. I'm done here. Even though I live in Towson, I'm heading back out to Timonium to Umi Sake. That has nice ambiance, good food, and much better service.

Ok so this is the place to go to feel like you never left college. They are in the heart of Towson and this is where we go for Sake Bombs in Maryland. They are cheap, offering pitchers of sake and large Sapporo's they know exactly what we want and they are very accommodating. Ok as for the sushi...well I live in NYC and they have the best cheapest sushi. So the food is not good and overpriced. But its a lot better then the place down the street, San Sushi 2..beware of that place. So Sake you say......OYE OYE OYE!!!!

Best sushi restaurant value near baltimore. yeah you can spend 3x as much at matsuri. chiyo is overrated. other places are just mediocre. This place has big, quality rolls, that are not overpriced and the rice is great. Service can be spotty, most servers are good, but there is the occasional long wait. definitely the best Chinese-run sushi joint I've been to.

We have been coming to Sushi Hana for about 2 years now. I would say easily once every month or so (if not more). They are so wonderful there, especially if they recognize you! The guys at the bar are so funny and always let you try a piece of something new (last time it was octopus). It is decently priced and the rolls are by far the biggest that I have seen. I have definitely judged other rolls up to Sushi Hana standards!!

Everytime we travel up to the Towson/Timonium area we always go to Sushi Hana. This is some top notch sushi, and I personally consider it to be some of the best sushi in the greater Baltimore/DC area. They have a lot of creative rolls, and their non-sushi items are just as good. I love the fact that you get both salad and miso soup with your dinner as well. Whereas their Sake selection could be a bit better, overall, I have no complaints and loooove coming here for sushi!

In restaurant entertainment included petty squabbling among the waittresses for table assignments and wardrobe looked disturbingly like pajamas instead of Asian attire. Nonetheless, the sushi was delicious and huge...melt in your mouth fresh. Recommend the Godzilla or spicy tuna rolls.

We were taken to a seat (a sticky one) almost immediately-and then sat there for 15 minutes. Three waiters passed us during this time. Nothing. We left and went to a place down the street which was awesome. Bad service=bad food.

I had never been. The service wasn't the best (I got a $2.50 soda and they never even offered to refill it) but the Sushi made up for it. I thought I would try something new- New York Roll (Sliced Apple, Sliced Avocado,Smoked Salmon and some other simple stuff). It was yummy and sweet- I loved it! I also tried the Shrimp Tempura App (wasn't bad- only came 2 shrimp and like 5 different pieces of veggies). My friends tried the Philadelphia Roll (YUMMY) and the California Roll (had better).

Good sushi. I think 4 stars is about right. It is the best sushi in Towson.

It's the best in Towson by far. It's fresh and the rolls taste great. Good combinations.

Awesome food, and it's especially difficult to find good sushi around Baltimore. I tried the beauty alaska, soft shell crab, and volcano roll and I was not disappointed with any of them. Check it out if you're in the towson area.

Can't go wrong at Sushi Hana. Sushi is great, as is the miso soup, and tempura ice cream! I tried the red bean ice cream which is a little strange at first, but good! I wonder if they still give you japanese gum with the check?

When it comes to sushi I love this place. Very good quality, nice big pieces and the service is great. When it comes to sushi I highly recommend this place. The only thing is that I would not come here in large groups; I have always found that there is an issue with the check when you have more than six people so just be aware of that. Otherwise its a great place to eat sushi.

The best sushi is Towson, and probably in the Greater Baltimore Region. The place is normally crowded at lunch time, but not overwhelmingly so. The decor is cheesy, and the tables seem cheap. Still, the food is relatively inexpensive and tastes fantastic. I can't recommend this place high enough for someone who's craving sushi.

By far the best sushi place in Towson and there are a lot of sushi places to choose from. I have tried several sushi places in Towson area, but always find myself coming back to Sushi Hana. The servers are always nice. The sushi is always tasty and fresh.

Easily one of the best places in the Baltimore area to get good sushi. The atmosphere isn't much (but that's to be expected at a sushi bar), the service can be hit or miss. The food, however, is consistently good. The Bruce roll is outstanding, but tell your server to have them go light on the salt for your edamame.

Our family moved from NYC about 2 years ago and I wanted to take my wife out for her birthday to a nice sushi place. Both of us are sushi lovers and I must admit that we've been spoiled by NYC sushi bars/restaurants. So I researched online and saw some 'excellent' reviews from citysearch for Hana Sushi so I immediately made a reservation for dinner. When we got there I realized that it was Zagat rated, which meant this was a quality restaurant with quality food. So I was very excited to try their sushi. The decor was not that great with messy floor, sticky chairs and not so clean tables. But those things didn't matter much since we were looking forward to some good sushi. The waitress was friendly but took her time to bring out our tea and food. So we ordered about $60 worth of rolls & nigiri (especially ones with salmon & tuna since we love salmon & tuna sushi) but as soon as it came out both of us realized that the sushi didn't look fresh (all of them). And we were able to confirm that when we took our first bite. We were very disappointed and it was a big letdown. We couldn't even finish everything because it was that bad. I'm not comparing Hana Sushi with some 4-5 star rated sushi restaurants in NYC because that wouldn't be a fair comparison but when I saw that it was Zagat rated I expected higher standard tasting food, at least. I mean, decor & cleanliness of the restaurant is important but I'm not there to admire those things although it helps. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking for a quality, fresh sushi. But if you are looking for a mediocre, not so fresh sushi with $$ price then this place is for you.

mmmmm sushi hana, my favorite sushi place in baltimore (and i eat a lot of sushi). i now go to school in boston & i have yet to find a place like this. i get take out here about 1-2 times a week when i'm home and eat in probably once a week.. it's a popular choice among my friends & family. the atmosphere is fine, the service is great--i've never had a problem and i go here A LOT. i see that some reviews claimed the sushi is only called "excellent" by college kids "who are sick of dorm food/frozen pizza," and yes, this place is popular with younger crowds, but this place was my sushi restaurant of choice long before i went to college. and now that i'm in college, in a major city, i can't find a sushi place as good as sushi hana without playing a fortune. this place is inexpensive, yet awesome.

So I was running a little early for work and was starving. So I decided to stop by sushi Hana for a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is so tranquil and relaxing, the service was on point and wonderful! My server was very friendly and helpful in selecting rolls! The sushi is great quality and very tasty and fresh! Absolutely will come back! I had the California roll and the soft shell crab !!!!

This is one of my favorite places for sushi. They make a roll called the fire roll and it actually comes out on fire it is off the charts The food is great and the service is super.

They have SOOOO many choices of specialty rolls. It's a blessing and a curse for people who have a hard time making decisions. Pretty reasonably priced and delicious sushi cool fish pond at the entrance

I was there Saturday night, the restaurant service was bad especially one of the waitress . It took her 20 mins to get to us and never ask how the food is during the whole meal. The food wasn't that good anymore we order the susumi boat and couple pieces of squid were spoiled. The lettuce in the salad was soak with water and is wet tasted terrible. I will not be back again!!!

Unassuming location but great food! Dinners come with soup and salad, and they have a cheat sheet of sushi rolls to help diners make their selections.

Sushi here is sub-par in my personal opinion, but I end up going more often than I'd like to because of the convenience. The rolls are oversized (if you like big, then this is it) and you can't even fit the whole roll into your mouth without feeling like you're going to gag haha. Sushi is supposed to be bite sized, so that you can experience the taste of the fish! The quality of the sushi rice is what makes a roll and here it's meh. Some days are better than others though, so not really much consistency either. I prefer sashimi to nigiri and the sashimi here is also inconsistent. Some days are fresher than others. You can most surely bring any sushi novice here and get them to find something that they like, but just don't bring the Asian in-laws that you're trying to impress. Although, I do enjoy the age tofu with the little fish flakes on top that move due to the heat hehe.

This place is a classic case of don't judge a book by its cover. It looks rough on the outside. It was sooo busy inside and the food was so amazing. With all the business it has, you'd think they'd get to remodeling or something... but lemme tell you how this place actually chills. The atmosphere is totally zen. The pond with the fish is a nice touch. DO NOT TOUCH THE FISH. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN TOUCH THE FISH. IF YOU DO, YOU'RE A RUDE JUDY. BE NICE TO THE PEOPLE WORKING THERE. PLEASE. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT SWEET, HONEST PEOPLE AND THEY DON'T NEED YOU FUSSING WITH THEM. This honestly goes without saying, but still. We were greeted and seated in a timely manner. Our waitress was fast and got our drinks to us in the quickness despite people flooding in. Started off our dinner with a bottle of warm sake. Mmm~ Sake really gets you in a mood to enjoy endless rolls of seaweed, rice, and ocean-y goodness. After a few more cups, some laughs, a pina colada, and a Mai Tai, we were finally ready and warmed up (literally... the warmth in that drink seriously put hair on my chest) to tackle the menu. It's pretty standard. They have a list of the not-so-expensive sushi on a white sheet of paper that you check off. There was a regular menu, a drink menu, and what they called a "cheat sheet" which explained what each roll consisted of. There was a mango roll that really caught my eye, but my youngest co-worker is a little iffy on things she's not familiar with, so I stuck to savoury rolls instead. Had some deep fried tofu, miso soup, and salad as an appetizer. I could have lived off of that tofu. The batter was so crispy and golden. You know when you bite into something fried and bits of hot oil pop into your mouth? That happened and it was freaking magic. The bonito flakes were a lovely touch, too. Wish I could say the same about the accompanying sauce. The majority of it landed on my lap. ^_^' Huhu~ Someone had too much sake! We had a lot of sushi. The more I ate, the more I regretted it because my stomach was about to explode, but I couldn't stop. It was all so good. Here's a list of the rolls we had: Maryland Salmon Crunchy Salmon Rainbow Crunchy Tuna Dragon Roll Shrimp Tempura My favourites were the crunchy salmon and dragon roll. Eel is too delicious. I couldn't taste the ones with shrimp, but my co-workers kept shoveling the rolls into their mouths. Two of them had chicken teriyaki with rice and they ate all of it on top of the sushi. We finished off our night with some green tea mochi ice cream and fried tempura ice cream. It was all so good and so amazing. Just what we deserved after a long, hard day of working. If you find yourself at the edge of Baltimore, in the heart of Towson, plop over by Sushi Hana and leave with a potbelly. Guaranteed goodness.

We went there before Christmas, staffs were not very hospital, but the food was good. We ordered Spider Sushi and Tuna Crunch Sushi, they were wonderful. Don't try combination ones, they are more expensive and looks like you got more stuff (soup and salad), but the sushi is actually like buffet sushi, not that good. Anyways it is a good experience, recommenced!

Their sushi is delicious but the service is ALWAYS bad. Always rude, always slow. The pricest of any other Towson sushi restaurants in the area.

As I have said before, I am a sushi snob and die-hard fan of Nick's Samurai Sushi Bar in Cross Street Market. That said, my past two sushi experiences have been positive. Sushi Q has inspired me to branch out, so when I found myself in Towson with my lover-boy before a family party, we thought we'd pop into here for a light dinner date. Light it was not. I left there so full, I was waddling. We tried a sashimi platter, a spicy lobster roll, and another combo roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and avocado. Everything was fresh and of good quality; the yellowfin was a little tougher than I am used to, but the taste was good. Everything came with a complimentary bowl of miso and a japanese steakhouse salad. The salad was average, but the miso was WONDERFUL. I usually hate miso, but this was so good with deep umami flavor and fresh scallions. We also had a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad, which were both delicious, fresh, and of a large portion size. I also opted for a mai tai, which was stong, cold, and very tasty. The service was so so, you have to flag someone down to get their attention for the most part, but the atmosphere is lovely at the sushi bar and the food and drinks were good.

I have been coming to sushi hana towson since 2003. I have NEVER had a complaint except today...normally I would chalk it up as just one bad day out of many many visits... but uhhhh no. I sat down at my normal spot at the sushi bar. I was given a menu and the normal warm towel. My waiter didn't say a word. When it was time for me to order, he just took my sheet ( didn't say a word). I had to ask him could I have something to drink... most times this crew is super attentive etc. The icing on the cake is the sushi chef was sleep at the sushi bar... my phone rang and he opened his eyes; said hi and went back to sleep. When my food order was rang in. He jumped up, prepared my food and went right back to sleep...sorry for disturbing ur nap dude. Sushi hana is a great place. Please don't become complacent. NO CUSTOMER WANTS TO SEE THE STAFF NAPING WHILE THEY EAT.

One word: slow. Walked in on a Saturday night at 7pm, seated by 7:15. Not bad! Left nearly at 10pm. The whole 4-person party was agitated by the wait for food. Yes, good sushi takes some time to make. Over 2 hours? Nah, brah. Maki rolls were ok--the lateness of the food coming out may have biased my opinion of it. Sure, the softshell crab roll was stuffed full of delicious crab, and the dynamite roll was tasty, but for that long, I expected that the food would wow me. Word of advice--don't get the hot sake. Granted, the party was all Midwest white people, but damn, we all hated it.

Yes, I am a fan! You can get amazing hamachi or unagi, both good benchmarks for a sushi restaurants. Y E A Oh, and the salmon sashimi is as amazing as it gets. Their menu is exhaustingly extensive. Interesting names, clever recipes...they should sell a Sushi Food Prep Recipe Book, it would make millions, given how unique and interesting their ideas are. Let me know if they ever do, and I'm not around to notice! They've got more than enough awards on the walls to make you relax when you walk in, and the ambience is very soothing with the koi pond, open table area, sushi bar, and then up a couple steps is another dining room, with another bar, but it's not a sushi bar... The frozen green tea drink is my favorite there. Yum. And when it comes to which rolls should you order, think first whether you want cold or warm. Tempura shrimp or salmon on the inside and warm unagi on the outside, with avocado either place is great for a winter's meal. Salmon, tuna, or hamachi are best bets for cold, whether you're a novice or connoisseur. All in all, I've brought a variety of friends and guests there, and everyone has been thoroughly delighted. Sushi always makes me feel so healthy the next day. This is what got me started on sushi to begin with when I was still in college. D A R N There are a couple things that could be better. And no one could tell me if the fish is wild-caught or farmed, so I suspect at least some of it is farmed. I felt like I was intruding to be asking, but after doing some research on farmed fish, I'm not one to choose it over wild caught, any day of the week. I tried the illustrious White Tuna and still think hamachi is the undefeated winner. Don't think you can go in at closing and get a quick order, because this is when they seem most swamped by take-out orders. Staff can be too hectic for consistently attentive service. Sometimes you really have to wait for water, food, or the check. Some staff have been disoriented, i.e., new, mostly they are overworked for the work load. Management, you need to hire another server. This was a Tuesday night and several tables were waiting 20 minutes for their check, or other service needs. Staff doesn't eat sushi themselves, they prefer other ethnic varieties. In fact, I was told by another patron, whose cousin is a reputable sushi aficionado, that there probably isn't any "authentic" Japanese restaurant around here for miles and miles, if at all, meaning not owned or operated by Japanese chefs. Oh, dear...what's a "sushi dai hard" to do?

$18 and four pieces of rainbow naroto roll later, I was still hungry and literally went somewhere else to eat. The sushi roll menu has no prices, go figure.

While I loved in Baltimore this sushi place was my go to! It was my favorite and frankly it remains my favorite! I haven't tried a better sushi place. Their sashimi is fresh, their miso soup is so yummy, I love their dumplings, and they do a great job making rolls. Everyone who has visited me in Baltimore or goes to visit Baltimore with me, I bring them here and they love it too! The rainbow roll is my favorite. They put three different kinds of fish inside the roll. So with every bite you get every kind of fish!! I've never seen a sushi roll made like that.

6 stars.

Seriously the best sushi in Maryland.

(5)Adam L.
(2)Susie K.

(3)Jordan R.
ordered salmon teriyaki it was the worst salmon fish I ever had! their house salad has only ice berg lettuce nothing else it also that seemed few days old.... and last the waitress was not friendly at all.
(2)Dodikins D.
(2)Kevin R.
(3)Foodrunner F.
(2)Jay F.

Best sushi is Batlimore county, hands down. All these 3-star reviewers don't know what they're talking about.
(5)T S.
Definitely not the best sushi. Fresh sushi should not smell or taste like fish! Also, they need to take their customers' suggestions more seriously instead of laughing it off. Have been here a few times but each visit has been successively disappointing. No more sushi hana for me. There are better places in Towson.
(2)William H.
Great, fresh sushi at affordable prices. I loved sitting right at the sushi watching everything be prepared. Quick service, clean restaurant.
(4)Eric J.
$45 with tip. The food here was mediocre; and the sushi was okay. Any average korean bbq place would be a better choice to go to.
(2)Ken C.
(2)David D.

(5)Melissa Z.
(4)Glenn S.
Came here this past Sunday for lunch and I have to say I was impressed for the most part. I had california and shrimp tempura rolls which were really good. The spicy mayo was on point as well. I'll be back for sure to try something else :)
(4)Elinor M.

(5)Iryna M.
(1)Katie V.
From the outside, it looks like a dump... but it's actually a decent place! I enjoyed my wine, my miso soup was delicious, and my Kanpyo roll was fresh and tasty! Bathrooms were clean too!
(4)Emmy M.

(4)Timothy D.

(3)Peter P.

(3)Keith W.
Good sushi. Decent service. Not sure about the dollar up charge for a small side of eel sauce. But other than that I liked it. You don't get as much pieces in a roll as some other places but the pieces that they give you are pretty large and taste pretty good. Overall this is a good sushi place. Been to better ones (arigato).
(3)Jen M.
(4)Rob N.

Just ate here. So amazingly good especially the steak.
(4)Scott G.
This is a decent place to get sushi at Towson. In fact, this is one of the only places in Towson that you can get great sushi at a decent price. I have been there a few times in the evening, and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
(4)Morgan D.
(2)Amy S.
(4)Michael M.
(5)Keejoo L.
(2)Ji Y.
(4)Elliott P.
(5)Diana P.
(1)Kate D.
More of an upscale sushi place. The rolls are expensive. The service is mediocre and not attentive. The place is nice on the inside but not worth the price when there are cheaper places right near by. rolls were very good and big
(2)Ross M.
seaweed salad + salmon sunrise roll = GOOD Best sushi I ever had? No, come on, it's Towson! But it's not bad at all...
(4)Ben U.
Some of the best sushi I have ever had, especially for the price. Amazing rolls and amazing sashimi.
(5)Deena D.
(1)Gary T.
(1)Amanda L.

If we do we feel like we're cheating on each other. lol!
(5)Nix A.
(3)Lauren S.
(3)Ariel E.
(4)Cecilia L.
(4)Nick B.
Really good sushi made by experienced people. Best miso in town.
(4)Quorum A.
Good quality sushi. Generous cuts. Yellowtail sashimis are delicious. Sweet shrimps are amazing. Customer service needs improvement thats why I am giving 4 stars.
(4)Eric M.
Great Sushi and great service. The Spicey Tuna is probably a little too big! You can barely fit it in your mouth. But hey, if that's the only thing bad I can say about them then they'll be fine. Best place to get Sushi if you're in Towson.
(4)Diana S.
(2)Patrick H.

(4)Ralph N.
The food is good, the service was good and waitress nice. For a restaurant, there is some decorating that needs done areas that obviously need cleaned. Ceiling tile needs replaced. Price a little high, more lunch oriented.
(3)Carrie L.

(1)Kate M.
The sushi is awesome! So fresh and tasty, you have got to try the cooked dynamite roll. Pretty reasonably priced considering it compares to the taste of lots of high end sushi bars. Friendly staff too!
(5)Christopher W.
My go to for sushi. I find the fish to be fresh. I usually go for sashimi and am never disappointed. Definitely very very solid.
(5)Shannon C.
(5)Jai S.
(4)Ria S.
Pretty good sushi, and service, from what I can remember at this point. I remember that the sushi was very balanced (not too much rice, or sugar, etc.)
(4)Matthew L.
(3)Sophia K.
(4)Ida L.
I am a fan of the Yes Yes roll. Sit at the sushi bar, it's fast! The price is fair.
(3)Chris B.
Food is excellent; service is exemplary.
(5)justin p.
Decent and good sushi. I liked it. Would like to go back.
(4)Robin S.
(4)Jenna B.
Mmmmm.
(4)Betty W.
Good sushi. Started going there in 2005. Never had a bad experience! Always fresh! Friendly service. The new place on Falls Rd is also very good. Prices are inexpensive but not overly expensive either.
(4)Veronica J.
(5)Matt K.
(4)Jeff D.
I've lived in NYC for 3 years and still have not been able to find something that beats this small, affordable sushi place. Because it was so long ago, I don't really remember the details, but they definitely had an amazing shrimp tempura & spicy tuna roll.
(5)John R.
(2)G M.
i don't think I have had better sushi anywhere else.
(5)Laura E.
(2)steph d.
(3)Sean F.
(5)Jennifer M.
(5)Frank O.
(5)tony r.
(4)Lee M.
We were taken to a seat (a sticky one) almost immediately-and then sat there for 15 minutes. Three waiters passed us during this time. Nothing. We left and went to a place down the street which was awesome. Bad service=bad food.
(1)Guerly J.
Service was great and the meal delicious, try the monster sushi. Sushi was so good located Sushi Hana in both NY and NJ
(5)Jessica L.
(4)G. S.
Good sushi. I think 4 stars is about right. It is the best sushi in Towson.
(4)Mark N.
It's the best in Towson by far. It's fresh and the rolls taste great. Good combinations.
(4)Kevin C.
Awesome food, and it's especially difficult to find good sushi around Baltimore. I tried the beauty alaska, soft shell crab, and volcano roll and I was not disappointed with any of them. Check it out if you're in the towson area.
(4)Ashley K.
Can't go wrong at Sushi Hana. Sushi is great, as is the miso soup, and tempura ice cream! I tried the red bean ice cream which is a little strange at first, but good! I wonder if they still give you japanese gum with the check?
(4)Calvin G.
(4)Steve D.
(5)Bill S.
By far the best sushi place in Towson and there are a lot of sushi places to choose from. I have tried several sushi places in Towson area, but always find myself coming back to Sushi Hana. The servers are always nice. The sushi is always tasty and fresh.
(5)Kelly B.

(1)first n.
mmmmm sushi hana, my favorite sushi place in baltimore (and i eat a lot of sushi). i now go to school in boston & i have yet to find a place like this. i get take out here about 1-2 times a week when i'm home and eat in probably once a week.. it's a popular choice among my friends & family. the atmosphere is fine, the service is great--i've never had a problem and i go here A LOT. i see that some reviews claimed the sushi is only called "excellent" by college kids "who are sick of dorm food/frozen pizza," and yes, this place is popular with younger crowds, but this place was my sushi restaurant of choice long before i went to college. and now that i'm in college, in a major city, i can't find a sushi place as good as sushi hana without playing a fortune. this place is inexpensive, yet awesome.
(4)Kevin M.
(5)Peter M.
This is one of my favorite places for sushi. They make a roll called the fire roll and it actually comes out on fire it is off the charts The food is great and the service is super.
(5)Emily F.
They have SOOOO many choices of specialty rolls. It's a blessing and a curse for people who have a hard time making decisions. Pretty reasonably priced and delicious sushi cool fish pond at the entrance
(4)Mark C.
(2)Elizabeth D.
Unassuming location but great food! Dinners come with soup and salad, and they have a cheat sheet of sushi rolls to help diners make their selections.
(4)Ann K.
(3)Urs M.
(5)Fan P.
(5)Claire L.
Their sushi is delicious but the service is ALWAYS bad. Always rude, always slow. The pricest of any other Towson sushi restaurants in the area.
(2)Caitlin C.
(4)Shanai B.
The food here is always good, veggies are fresh. The service is always great. Sushi Hana's staff is always personable and go out of there way to make your dining experience enjoyable. They even do carry out orders!!!
(5)Linnea O.
(4)Claire S.
(2)Teresa F.
(4)Lisa R.
