Just posted a picture of a screw that I found in my food last night. This was after we received the wrong order and returned to get THIS! I will never eat here again!

LOVE Peking Palace! I ordered Shrimp Imperial - the order came very quickly and the shrimp and vegetables were cooked to perfection. The customer service is excellent. Wonderful surprise to find such good quality Chinese food in Thurmont. You should go!

At last count, there were 34 Chinese carry-out placers in Frederick County, (I suspect 80% of them owned by the same five or six families) north-county residents have relatively few to choose from. In the greater Thurmont area, one of the few such carry-out establishments is the Peking Palace located near CVS on North Church Street. It was a particularly nasty October afternoon with a drizzle outside when I stopped in to place my order, a carry-out #19. (General Tso Chicken) Around one o'clcok in the afternoon on a Wednesday the place was pretty quiet, adherent two clergy men from up the mountain having a discussion in the one of the booths, there was not a soul around. The decor inside is pretty much typical Asian fare for a dine-in experience. It's a bit classic in-light of a better term. It is dimly lit and has a more intimate atmosphere than a more contemporary restaurant. Looking from the interior of the establishment to the interior of the menu, it is standard carry-out fare. Less than ten minutes after placing my order, my styrofoam container in bag, was in hand and ready to take the trek down the mountain for home. Another twenty minutes later in the house, a steady rainfall at this point had been well underway for the majority of the trip back, and a Coke Zero to drink, I prepared to feast upon a lunch special. Starting with the spring roll, it was fresh, and crispy. Nothing all too different from any other spring roll mind you. The fried rice too, still hot enjoyed much of the same fate as the spring roll had finding its afterlife in my stomach. The main course, the General Tso chicken was a bit unexpected. I tend to judge a carry-out Chinese place by either its chicken and cashews or it's General Tso. For the most part, 90% of the carry-out's have the same taste to their General Tso--either extremely spicy without any sweetness or the exact opposite, no heat, but just sweet. And there is seldom any variance to this equation. However Peking Palace threw me a slight curve-ball on this one. There was not much sweetness at all--it was more spicy. However unlike most places, it was not that hot in the spicy sense of the word, yet did not suffer from being bland either which is usually the case when General Tso is prepared in this manner. This caught me a little off guard that it lacked the sweetness typically found in this dish, yet had just enough spice without overpowering, or being bland. Aside from a slightly stale fortune cookie, (something of a crap-shoot regardless of where you go and expect a fortune cookie) the Peking Palace offered a pretty decent meal. For those of you who a quick, fast carryout meal, Peking Palace is a safe bet.

i could eat Peking Palace everyday. The owner goes out of her way to make me "Orange Tofu, extra spicy" Its not even on the menu. But she makes it because a friend of mine asked for it once. Huge portions, taste delicious and she also gives my friends extra soup to take home just because we eat there often.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
