Is this an establishment of fine dining? Of course not. It's a neighborhood restaurant with home cooking. And it succeeds very well. So glad we stopped off for a late breakfast here, rather than at the sterile places by the highway exit. Charming little place, very down home, outstanding AND friendly service. Hard to mess up breakfast, and they didn't. Eggs, sausage, home fries, gravy, toast, French toast. And the chicken-fried steak...OUTSTANDING. The breading was excellent. Clearly made by hand and not pulled out of a freezer ready-made. Highly recommend a stop here for some good home cooking and a friendly smile.

Stopped by here for breakfast with a friend. Had always wanted to come here since they reopened the restaurant at this location. It's a seat yourself place. Within a few mins we were drinks orders were taken. The menu is your typical town diner breakfast menu(pancakes, eggs, home fries, etc.). I got the French toast platter; that comes with three French toast slices, two eggs, home frys and choice of meat. Everything I had was really good and the price at 9.99 wasn't bad either for the portion size. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We never went too low on coffee which at these places is a big thing for me.

2 stars for the service, which was prompt and friendly. 0 stars for the food, which ranged from okay to pretty gross. grilled chicken was gristly and tasteless. accompanying chips were stale and had terrible aftertaste, like they had been cooked in rancid oil. burger was passable. we were passing through on vacation and regret that we stopped here for lunch. prices were low but still felt like a waste. cannot figure out why other reviews were so positive or how they've stayed in business this long. conspiracy?

I arrived shortly after lunch. There were several tables with customers in both the main dining area as well as in the bar area. The bar area was dimly lit opposed to the main dining area which was moderately bright and airy. The main ding area's decor was reminiscent of a country inn complete with a fireplace in the corner. Since the main dining area appeared more inviting to a solo diner, I chose to sit here. The bar area may be better suited for a more intimate ding experience. I was greeted by my waitress, who was prompt in serving a menu and bringing my drink, a Coca Cola For this meal I started with an appetizer of mozzarella sticks they arrived promptly and were golden brown cooked perfectly. My only suggestion would be to serve the marinara sauce at room temp as it will adhere to the mozzarella sticks better. Next for my main entree, I ordered a country fried steak dinner. Going for the maximum meat and potatoes dining experience I went with french fries and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were standard fare with brown gravy. The french fries were very crispy outside with salt but soft and fully cooked all the way through inside. The bread with the honey butter was excellent. Now for the main attraction--the country fried steak. Bollinger's uses a chopped steak which was cooked well with just the right amount of breading. It had very good texture, and consistency throughout. Their country fried steak is the quintessential essence of country cooking. While they offer home made deserts I was way too full order any but I am sure it too would be excellent, however I just could not fit any more food in me. (And I'm not a small guy mind you!) I found service to be very good, and would highly recommend Bollinger's to those who enjoy classic country home style cooking, large portions, and affordable prices.

Went here for breakfast one morning (1st Visit). Not a bad experience at all. Regular American Food Served. Restaurant is decorated well inside. Service was not extremely impressive; but it wasn't horrible either. We visited the restaurant as a family: each meal ordered was just the meal & one side (sides were small portions). It seemed as if they were focused on adding plenty of add-on items to each meal. For what appeared to be a "mom & pop" type restaurant: they seemed very strategic in their sales process. Sadly, after my 1st refill on coffee: I had to ask for my other 2. We'll probably try it again at some point.

I have only been here for breakfast. The service is slow. The omlets are only ok. Tacky inside decorations. But there are almost no places for breakfast available in Thurmont unless you want junk food. Maybe lunch and dinner here is better. One would hope so.

My son has severe food allergies (nuts) and the wait and kitchen staff read all packaging to ensure it was safe. They were extremely nice and responsive to our needs. We went for lunch and my kids had "the best" bacon cheeseburger with real ground beef, not frozen already prepared patty's. I had a BLT with fresh tomato and crunchy bacon. We finished off the meal with homemade AWESOME desserts (brownie sundae, peach pie and custard pie). Since they were all homemade (including the brownie) we were able to make sure no nuts were in the preparation. I will definitely go back again and recommend this restaurant to others :)

We come here every time we visit Thurmont, MD. Mom and pop kind of place where you are treated like family. Cheap too! The dirty dog is oh so yummy and I cant leave Maryland without one. Give them a try!

Went there for lunch with a friend. We both got soup and hamburg. Its good dinner food and a reasonable price. I will re visit them again
