Amazing B&B! We stayed in a separate building, which means lots of privacy, but zero Internet. Every morning, we received a breakfast tray, including muffins and coffee, in our special giant mailbox. I can't stress this enough: Giant breakfast mailbox! Then we also had a full breakfast at the main house. Our room also had a fireplace, and when we ran out of firewood, someone would quickly bring us more. Dinner at the restaurant is delicious, and, as others have mentioned, you get a personalized menu if you want it as a keepsake. The town itself was undergoing some construction and changes when we were there (early 2013), but there are a few small antique shops that have great items. I will definitely go back, when I have the time for the drive and the space in the budget.

Underdevelopment. Day 1: ice in the room when arrived nice to be able to have a ice cold drink upon arrival. No phone in room. No desk area to put laptop. Might be on purpose. This is a getaway spot. Very good first impression. More to come.

We stayed here for our anniversary (July 11) and we were blown away by this place. Beautiful grounds, fun/clean/timely accommodations, and the best meal I've had in months. The dinner is truly top notch, the best in the area bar none. The "Hors d'oeuvres passed throughout the Mansion" is not as you'd think it would be. They bring you out a sample plate with snacks to nibble on, not quite a cocktail hour like at a wedding - which we were expecting. Overall, a wonderful experience and we'll be soon to return. Reasons for a four instead of a five, the service was good, not great. We were late to breakfast by 5 minutes and we're not given any other options to order/get food (and a snotty attitude). The gentleman that checked us in was everything but friendly - yet he was efficient and our room was ready when we arrived. Lastly, as delicious as the dinner option was, at $70/person it's a bit steep - but well worth the splurge.

This place is truly a class act! My wife and I stayed here for a friends wedding. If you're coming here for a wedding make sure you book early because there are limited rooms and the pricy ones end up being the only ones left to reserve. We ended up with one of the classiest rooms and while it cost more we enjoyed every moment of it. Fireplace, double jacuzzi, beautiful art covering the room, morning breakfast in bed, and of course an amazing house and grounds. The staff were impeccable and worked non-stop to please every guest. The house grounds are well maintained and capture the feel of the 1800's. My one complaint is not against the hotel but Taneytown. The city is mired by construction and is dilapidated. If you go to Antrim, go to enjoy the house and stay there. The countryside is great but the city proper is an eyesore.

Had dinner this past Saturday night (yeah i know...Valentine's weekend isn't the best time to see a restaurant's true potential) but it is an amazing and romantic place. Beautiful ambiance and table settings are elegant. Food was not so great though-right out of a cruise ship dining room, and the hectic and confusing "scatter" service by the staff was annoying. Three different people would bum rush you for an order then you couldn't find anyone to actually place your order! Ordered an expensive wine from their impressive wine list only to see the wine steward whisk my bottle away from the table after i asked her to decant it! Then towards the end, she upended the decanter with all the debis into my friend's wine glass. Clearly the wine service needs to match a list that is over an inch thick with wines in the thousands of dollars They have a way to go in order to have the food and service match the property. As it is the only game in town, i doubt they have any real competition.

It breaks my heart to write this review. I'm a long time friend of the owners Richard and Dort Mollett. In fact I helped at the opening of the b&b many many years ago. Well here we go... My Dad lives in the town and he has loved going to the restaurant for special dinners through the years. I gave my Dad a large gift certificate for Christmas and he and my stepmom made reservations for this past Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. After a nice relaxing drink and some small bites, the group of Pre-dinner guests were escorted to their tables in the very cozy downstairs dining room.... Except my dad and stepmom, who were led to a corner in a deserted room. They were served dinner all alone in a room with no one else in there. My Dad is a very kind and gentle man. He quietly asked why they were not seated in the dining room with the rest of the guests and he was told that there had been a mixup in the reservations and they didn't have room for them. ( they had a confirmed reservation) . My dad was so hurt, embarrassed, humiliated and insulted, as am I, after hearing this story. The only saving grace of the situation is that the dinner was comped , but none of us would ever set foot in there after my dad and stepmom were treated like second rate persons. We have a $200 gift certificate that none of us will use. Shame on Antrim for ruining my stepmom's birthday.

How could I not give this place 5 stars. I went a few months ago but it is still very memorable. My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary. We were greeted with a drink order and hors d'oeuvres with the other guests. We had the honor of sitting in the smokehouse. If you can, and especially if it is a special night, request seating there. The room felt straight out of 1844, with a big wood burning open fireplace, stone and brick features, and a homey feel. It is the quintessential important date location. The menus were personalized and very exquisite. They rotate the menu every day and depending on ingredient selection, so I can't really comment on specific dishes. Get something that suits your fancy. I will say the dessert plate was astoundingly good. The whole time I felt like their most important customer ever. And I most certainly am not. But, the whole experience was something I'll remember moving forward, and continue to reminisce about when I think about a truly excellent venue.

Very romantic bed and breakfast...unfortunately, I was there for a business function, and the accommodations aren't terribly business friendly. The wi-fi is spotty, at best, and the rooms are not meant for business travelers (not enough desk space, no fridge). That said, I have to give Antrim 1844 four stars because they went above and beyond to accommodate the company we were with. Food was amazing, service was excellent. This is definitely a place that we will consider for a romantic getaway in the future. Great place to get away from it all...

Wedding was great; food was awesome, Antrim staff worked very hard to make sure everything happened on time. Beth, our coordinator was fantastic to work with and the cost was appropriate to the level of service we received. Can't wait to return for a long weekend.

Very nice B&B . . . but a bit pricey. The restaurant makes the visit very special. Go for the day and dine in luxury. Michael Gettier, the chef, is great. Since it is far from anyplace . . . it is a great getaway for a long weekend. Top location for a wedding.

This is a wonderful romantic getaway. The staff pampers you from the time you arrive. We had tea in the afternoon and had dinner in their restaurant at night. Dinner included passed hors d'oeurves before being seated as well as a 6-course meal. The food was great and it was a nice slow paced 2 hour meal. The wine list is extensive, over 2,400 bottles. We enjoyed a scotch (one of 50 offered) in the pub. The next day, a light breakfast tray was delivered outside our door and we later went down to a full country breakfast. I would try to stay in one of the outbuildings next time because there was a wedding party that was socializing in the lobby and we could hear them.

A luxurious country inn that caters to you as soon as you drive onto the circular path to their extensive grounds, and a perfect weekend getaway for amazing food and utter relaxation. Highlights included: Personalized menus for the six-course seasonal dinner, afternoon tea upon arrival, butlered hors d'oeuvre service and cocktails before dinner in the beautifully-appointed drawing room of the main Antrim mansion, pianist in both the drawing room and dining room, fireplaces with real wood everywhere, added bonus of festive Christmas decor everywhere, a gracious sommelier named Sia who helped us choose an amazing Behrens & Hitchcock Syrah to accompany our dinner, Calvin the talented and spirited pianist, delicious salmon & foie gras quenelles appetizer, grapefruit granita as an intermezzo, snow-covered lawns and tree branches, continental breakfast delivered to your room, jacuzzi tubs, fireplace in your bedroom, beautifully-restored antebellum furnishings and a little stepstool to get to your king-size bed, and so much more. Don't forget to stop by Baugher's apple farm on the way back to Baltimore on 140 to get more of the rustic, small town feel before the city sights and sounds hit you upon your return.

The food and drinks continue to be stellar, but I have to say I felt the service was lacking on New Year's Eve. Our waitresses seemed overall annoyed about working that night. I guess I can't blame them, it was NYE, but it wasn't fair to take it out on us! My friend asked for an espresso and the waitress just gave him a dirty look and walked away. Another friend asked for hot cocoa and the waitress came back mad and said she looked everywhere and they don't have it. Then she asked for tea and the waitress rolled her eyes and walked away. We also saw them whispering and pointing at us - I don't know why, I really don't feel like our table was doing anything wrong. I also had two different servers ask for my ID because there was champagne in the intermezzo. I just thought that was annoying, I'm 23!

Very nice, quiet and pretty place. The grounds are beautiful. Clean and ornate suites in the style of 1844. Comfortable and elegant. The good was excellent. Morning coffee was a bit weak. And thy could signpost their check in spot better.

My friend just got married here. They stayed on property and had the wedding and reception on site too. I have to give mad props to BETH!!! If you can ask to have her she was the best coordinator, she was so professional and helpful. We were all so impressed with her. Thanks Beth!!!!!!

My son and I stayed here one night while we were visiting colleges. Hotel is stunningly beautiful -rooms and grounds, rooms are spacious, country breakfast that comes with the stay was amazing, staff are super friendly and prices are reasonable. They have lots of options from private cottages to large rooms with private baths. We loved it.

The Antrim 1844 is a hidden gem. It's a bit out of the way but worth the drive. It's a beautiful inn and restaurant. The grounds are well manicured gardens dotted with fountains and rose bushes. It really is a perfect setting for an outdoor wedding. As soon as you step inside the Antrim, you feel like you've been transported to a bygone era. You enter a center hall with rooms flanking the hallway. The rooms are decorated with antiques and decor reminiscent of its past glory. We started with drinks and passed hors d'oeuvres in the main house. My favorites included the parmesan tarts, lamb on goat cheese rounds (great textural contrasts and flavors) and scallops wrapped in bacon then coated in panko (basic yum). We then took a short walk to the pavilion where the wedding festivities took place. The food was a perfect representation of the couple, grilled sirloin with hint of a soy marinade, crab stuffed quail, cheesy potato gallette and asparagus spears. I think it was a good execution for a large party. I was impressed with the food, service and ambiance. It was great to revisit the Antrim for a wedding after dining here several years ago. It's a great place for a special occasion. They have an extensive wine list and they start off with passed hors d'oeuvres in the receiving room before being seated for dinner, a very unique experience. I look forward to returning!

If I could give this place a 0 rating, I would. Be careful before you put any deposit on this place. We were completely mislead that we would have an opportunity to book on-site housing for our wedding before others. Turns out they had already booked another party for on-site housing before (which is basically the main reason you would go there) and didn't let us know that we were out of luck until months later. At that point we had already paid a second installment of our deposit, and even though we cancelled the venue and no services were rendered to us - they won't refund, even though they have a year to find a replacement for us. Absolute disgrace. If you want to find a place where they put profits before people, then come here. Not to mention the place looks beat up and could use some serious work.

We attended a wedding in the summer and everybody was very nice & u do feel like the most important person there. The rooms are very nice, clean & the jacuzzi tub is wonderful. My husband plugged his phone charger in the wall & it fried his charger. It was very scary so be careful. Past that the food was delicious & the atmosphere was lovely. Oh driving around the property is a little annoying too, small paths, weird turns & one ways. Lots of circling!

A perfect place with great food, great service, and perfect old country house setting. We went with a party of 8. We had a tour of the area, tasted some wines in the wine cellar, had custom menus for dinner. Our waiter Tim was wine God, friendly, took pictures for us, catered to my elder grandparents that can't eat off the menu, and just pretty much new everything. Great place for a formal setting with a group or romantic night out.

Update- my wife forgot a very valuable watch in the room. Before we made it home the inn called to inform us they found it and would be getting it back to us ASAP!!! She didn't even know it was lost!! My wife and I have been to a number of BNB in and around the DC area. Some really great ones, some not so hot ones, big, small - NONE compare to the Antrim 1844. From the inception of this experience it has been outstanding. Excellent website, fantastic customer service during booking and answering questions, immaculate grounds and unbelievable charm, character and overall accommodations. A lot of reviews talk about: the amazing staff - CHECK, they are the best in the business. The spectacular grounds and gardens - CHECK, seriously one of the most beautiful places I have been. The history and period charm of the property -CHECK, very well preserved and well-kept in period. Couldn't improve anything. The dining experience - CHECK, the food, service and Smokehouse are absolutely stunning. Great food, awesome staff and some of the best ambiance and overall feel of a space I have experienced. So... having said all of that. Let me talk a little more about what you can expect in staying here. You will feel like royalty, literally. From the décor and period-scentric location to the robes in your room and down feather comforter. Turn down service... That leaves a rose on your pillow.... Yea, they are good! I read that someone was impressed with ice and water in the room and thought.. so what... BUT when you get there it became one of those things that just sets this place apart. Something so small really makes a HUGE impact. Ice cold water and mineral water when you walk in.. Who knew how important that is. THEY DID!! You will also feel like you are home. Not stuffy, not over the top ornate, very comfortable, cozy. Maybe it's the people who you meet and help you, I am not sure. But its evident. The angst and energy of a new place is wiped away with calm and comfort from the second I walked in. My wife was in awe at the beauty and comfort of the surroundings. She picked up on all the little details that us guys miss. Period art work, literature, seating areas, fine furniture, yadda yadda.. hahaha. You will have the sleep of a lifetime. We have 3 young children and are accustomed to not sleeping all night. Quite frankly even when I am not awakened I wake up myself just checking on my surroundings.. I woke up from what felt like a month of rest. Drooling and disoriented. AMAZING!! Hahahaha.. I can't wait to come back for the entire weekend. This time I will not make the mistake of missing dinner at the Smoke house!!! One other thing to mention is the smoothness of the staff. There was a wedding going on while we were there and you would never have known. I mean of course you see the wedding set up and the people milling about during the ceremony but the service and staff were just as focused on me as they could have been. It seemed like so much was going on behind the scenes. No one was in a hurry, nothing was rushed. It was fantastic. I could imaging that if It were my wedding day again that I would be calm and relaxed.

This is by far one of nicest fancy restaurant I ever been to that they served multiple courses ( 6 courses they served ) . The service , food and staff were outstanding . I give A++ to their restaurant , premium place . Now , their rooms. I stayed overnight in one of their cottages. Nice place, semi luxury, BUT one issue with my room : there was a unit up above us and the floor squeek like crazy every time people walked upstairs. If you are planning to stay ask to stay on the second floor so you won't get bothered by the floor noise. This is a very nice and high class place for special occasion.

We were here for a wedding in January. It's a very cute little spot! Unfortunately, it was freezing and raining the day of our wedding. We had to park across the street and walk in the rain to the venue, which was annoying and also we were in heels so it added a level of frustration. Adding more parking on the same side of the street would be very helpful! The venue itself is very cute, but the main house where the cocktail hour was, was SO old. Tiny doorways where only one person could walk through at a time. Because it was cold & rainy, everyone was squished inside for cocktail hour and it was not very comfortable. Once we went back to the ballroom for the reception, there was much more space and the ballroom looked very nice. I think if you get lucky enough to have a non-rainy day, this venue would be beautiful so you could be outside.

My husband and I stayed at the Antrim 1844 recently to go to a wine dinner the hotel was hosting. We arrived in the afternoon and were shown to a very comfortable and adorable room (sleigh room) by a staff member who was super helpful. It was a gorgeous day and we walked around the grounds a bit. I would LOVE to come back in the summer so we could enjoy the pool. It's set in a beautiful garden area. They had tea with little sandwiches and scones set out in the afternoon which was nice. Now to the best part - the wine dinner! First of all, it was set up in a way I had never experienced at any wine dinner before. There were stations with each of the wineries being showcased with people from the winery there to pour and answer questions, and servers were walking around the whole time passing out hors d'oeuvres, all of which were delicious. My favorites were the little crab cakes and the stuffed dates were fantastic! Then they called us all in to talk for a minute about the evening and we were led to our tables. Every course was amazing and beautifully plated. Everything came out hot and despite every course being served at the same time to everyone in the room, nothing tasted like it had been sitting under a warmer. The courses were very nicely paired with the wines being shown and all the wines were generously poured. We had a really wonderful evening and are looking forward to our next visit there!
