The tiramisu here is amazing -- drenched in coffee liquor. It does make the cake a little soggy, which some people may not like but we love the strong flavors. It's also not overly sweet like a lot of tiramisu cakes. Their rum cake is also really good, less liquor infused if you're looking for something lighter. We also got their espresso which was ok but isn't as good as other places in the area. There's also limited seating, so it may not be a great place for large groups.

The tiramisu was soggy, very soggy. I was also given a "damaged" piece in my three tiramisu order...I didn't really like that.

This past weekend I visited Tiramisu, not once but TWICE. It had been a while since I had been to this cafe, and I forgot how good it was. On Saturday, I went with some family members. We ordered tibs and vegetarian fir fir. It was fresh and delicious. Then I ordered a soy latte and tiramisu for dessert. I left full and happy. On Sunday, I was craving their dessert so I returned with a friend. We ordered lattes as well as the tiramisu and napoleon. The cozy atmosphere is also an added bonus. We sat in this cafe, sipping our coffee, and got lost in conversation and people watching. I'll be back again soon. Next time, I'll be trying the rum cake.

A friend and I decided to meet up here, and it was a good choice! It's a bit far from the hub of downtown Silver Spring (Fenton and Ellsworth), but I walked from the Wayne Avenue garage in about 10 minutes. It's a little off of Georgia Avenue and tucked away in a row of Ethiopian shops. It's pretty cramped inside (for good reason, as I found out), and voices ring out/overlap over the other. We decided to sit outside. I got a simple tea - which they gave to me in a glass/crystal goblet. Tea from a goblet made me feel like medieval royalty! My friend got a caramel-something that I would never drink. We also got a slice of cake to share - I have no idea what it was as the cakes are not labeled. It tasted like mocha, which was fine by me. Very fluffy, and not moist/heavy, which is exactly how I like my cakes. We sat outside, and if the weather had been less windy, it would've been perfect. I can imagine that it can get pretty crowded very quickly. The one drawback is the lack of labeling - I don't have any food allergies, but it may be a hassle for others to ask what exactly is in each item when they don't even have an idea of what the cake/pastry is.

We live right next door and wanted to purchase freshly baked bread togo for breakfast. So I gave em a call. First, it took a while for her to understand what I wanted, literally I had to spell b-r-e-a-d. And then She said that they don't do that. I thought this place was a bakery. Very disappointing.

If I had not been looking for Tiramisu Bakery, I would have probably passed by it without noticing. Correction. I have passed by it without noticing. The modest storefront, is located on a barren strip of Eastern Avenue just right off Georgia Avenue, with only a few other neighboring businesses. The bakery is small, the prices are stellar. I got a cup of delicious, Ethiopian coffee for just under $2 and three small, vanilla cookies dipped in chocolate for $1. The fresh cakes looked fresh and amazing and although temping, I behaved myself. I will not be so good next time however. Although seating is limited and not all that comfortable, they have free wifi. Overall, the experience was a solid three-star experience, however the bright and genuine smile of the young woman that took my order is deserving of an entire star in and of itself. She seemed sincerely happy to be there helping others. I'll definitely comeback, but more likely than not just to grab some coffee or sweets - the space is a bit too small to get too comfortable or to have any privacy.

I was looking for a place to get a cake for my dad's birthday, and Yelp led me here. I was also happy to see they were right in my neighborhood. Points for courteous employees, and they wrote on the cake for no extra charge. I bought the rum cake based on a previous reviewer's five stars, and I couldn't have been more disappointed. It was like someone made a white cake several days ago and added some artificial rum flavoring- so dry and unbelievably bland. The frosting was just as disappointing- it tasted like straight confectioner's sugar. I threw some strawberry compote on top to make it more edible, but at $35, I feel as though I should have gotten a better quality product. I'd be willing to try some of their other cakes-- the Black Forest looked pretty appetizing, but seriously, beware. The five star review on the rum cake is a lie.

Yet another Ethiopian Coffeehouse in Silver Spring! They must know something we Westerners don't. Like Mimi X., I had tea, not the Ethiopian coffee, but I would definitely come back. The cozy space is pleasant. The desserts are made in-house and look DELICIOUS, especially the tiramisu. I had a HUGE banana nut muffin which was fresh and full of large chunks of walnuts. This is a friendly, family run business. I never would have known it has been here for seven months now if it had not been for Yelp. Street parking is limited in this area; it's not close to Downtown Silver Spring either, so I hope it survives.

This place...a God send. I am writing this review solely for the slice of chocolate cake. When I'm having an attack...I mean an I'm going to kill someone if I don't get REAL chocolate right now attack- this is my refuge! They have the best chocolate cake and it's only $2.75 a slice. I mean most cupcakes cost more than that around here. They serve the cake warm and the chocolate, fudge like frosting, starts dripping down the layers (AMAZING). The reason I give this place 5 stars is not just for the cake, but for the customer service. On two occasions (the first when I stumbled on the place and last Saturday) I came in just after 8. Even though they were closed (close at 8) they still sold me the cake! Now that's customer service. As long as they have that cake, I'll be back especially since it's so close to the house.

I was really looking forward to going to this place after seeing the reviews, and since it's a block away from my condo. Unfortunately, Yelp and this place let me down. The choco cake that we got seemed old, the nepoloitan just wasn't good imo and the baklava was okay. Everything seemed to have rum in it which we asked and were told no. That is a big no no since it's against our religion to consume anything with alcohol. I'm hoping it was an off day. I'll eat just about any dessert but couldn't bother with more than a few bites here. Will try again with hopes that I can kick their rating up.

I love my neighborhood coffee shop! I like to come here and do some work or just hang out and chat with friends. The coffee drinks here are really good and I can get my Ethiopian breakfast grub on while I'm here too. Favorites are the fuul, chechebsa + scrambled eggs combo. The service is always pleasant and that's a valuable characteristic for a place that serves people who often have not had their daily requirement of caffeine yet. I do, however, wish that they were open a little earlier so that I could grab something before work.

Ive had both the reg and vegan Tiramisu and was pleased with both. My only problem with this place is they dont open until 9am.

I am lucky enough to live right down the street from this amazing bakery. All desserts are made in-house. I have tried all of their cakes, and all are exceptional. I think my favorites are the white chocolate and the Italian Rum. The Napoleon, tiramisu and baklava are also incredible. They have good coffee, too, and their prices are definitely reasonable. I've only eaten their spaghetti with alfredo sauce, and it's a filling portion and tasty. The owners are great people. From what I understand, they have a famous establishment in the capital of Ethiopia.

So I needed something sweet to make my wife happy after I made her a little upset. I had heard that the pastries here were very good. So i got some Tiramisu and Rum Cake. they tasted wonderful (I am not a big tiramisu fan) and definitely helped to make her happy. :)

The pastries are mediocre, but the coffee is AMAZING and the wireless is great.

Their coffee is AMAZINGLY GOOD. The deserts are also very nice. If you are a salad person they make the salads for many local eateries and their produce is very fresh. Also a great selection of ethnic Ethiopian food. Misses 5 stars due to the very small size and the noise level can be very high at times.

This review is strictly for the rum cake. The next time you are thinking about going to Cake Love, go up the street and get this instead. There are layers of mildly rum flavored cake and non-pre-fab pastery creme. It's topped with a crispy layer and powdered sugar. I was only going to taste one bite, and now it's half gone.

You come here for the cakes because they are made with good ingredients by someone who knows how to make a flaky layer and put it next to a creamy one. The desserts are well above average and shine for the area (DC, let alone Silver Spring), where good bakeries are practically non-existent. The woman who served us didn't speak enough English to understand what we wanted without some work, and seemed to have a little trouble with the espresso machine (my cap was a weak latte, but Illy at least). Still, I'd certainly go back. To the woman who didn't like the tiramisu, I'd point out the tiramisu is as varied as the people who make it. I like it very wet, which theirs is without being too cheesy. It was also nice to get a relatively generous slice of a dessert with good ingredients for $3.75.

Ok, we had my shower cake ordered here and of course we ordered the 10" tiramisu. The appearance of the cake is just lovely with it's lady fingers decorating the sides and a thick layer of cocoa power right on top. I was so ready to dig into it but was a bit disappointed. It was nothing like Dancing Goat now Crazy Mocha in Shadyside, Pittsburgh. I mean my friends tell me it's authentic but if that's authentic, then I want nothing of it. The cake was just too liquidy like it was soaked in rum for a long time and just mushy. I know tiramisu is supposed to be moist but not that moist. I didn't even finish my piece and I always finish my dessert! Overall I wouldn't come back here again.

This place is within walking distance of my neighborhood and I come here whenever I'm looking for a quiet, pleasant space to hang out or work. The folks here are very friendly. As for the food and beverages, I highly recommend the tiramisu. The coffee is alright - not the best, but certainly decent.

Found it by searching Yelp for "Silver Spring eclair" while on the road from Virginia to Philly, went based on Mimi X.'s review above. The mille feuille was excellent - one of the top 5 best this lifetime, really flaky and creamy and well-balanced. The eponymous tiramisu was really nice, good texture and flavor. Personally I like more assertive mascarpone, and a bit more alcohol (I don't like much, but I don't think this had any), and my husband likes more assertive coffee flavoring. Well worth the visit!

Libby F. mentioned lack of street parking in her review -- there's a county parking garage a block or two away if you need it. The driveway is on Eastern between 13th and Newell (on the Maryland side of Eastern Ave, same as Tiramisu). There are quarter meters in the uncovered spaces (you need a permit to park in the covered spaces).

Great atmosphere. Coffee is good but not the best. Their desserts are excellent.
