The pizza is absolutely delicious!!! I nice thin but not crunchy crust, tasty sauce, and the cheese and toppings are ample... Now- the customer service is minimal. I don't come here to socialize. my BF and I walk over, order our pizza, pay, wait, and leave. We enjoy absolute deliciousness in the comfort of our own home. I will say- the place is big and roomy enough that if you had some friends and wanted to eat there, it can certainly accommodate. Survey says: Yes to eat!!!

UPDATE: Flippin Pizza charged my credit card twice for that delivery, which knocked them down 2 stars. Not cool. I ordered delivery for my family from Flippin' Pizza and THEN checked Yelp reviews. Rookie mistake, I know. But I feel the need to defend them and here's why. I placed my order online and received my confirmation at 6:01. The estimated wait time was 45 minutes and our order arrived at 6:40. I quickly opened the boxes to ensure our order was correct and when I saw that the gluten-free pizza was incorrect, I quickly flagged down the driver before he got back into his car. I informed him that I ordered a half artichoke, half Bronx GF and in my small box was a plain cheese. The driver took the pizza back and I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone said that the online order didn't indicate any toppings (which I can only assume is a glitch in the system because I am a mastermind at online food ordering). However, he said he'd make another pizza and send it my way. A few minutes later I got a call from the delivery guy asking me what my order should have been. I reconfirmed with him and he said it should arrive shortly. 35 minutes later I had the pizza I ordered! I call that excellent customer service. A quick note - I only chose gluten free because it was $7 less than a regular pizza. Unfortunately, I had no idea the GF pizza is about 1/4 the size of a regular. Bear that in mind when your order!

I almost missed this place while driving by. What makes for a good pizza place? A pizza oven? Chewy and crispy pizza crust? Fresh toppings? Flavor, flavor, flavor!!! There was one table with two guys when we walked in at 7pm on a Saturday night. Is this a bad sign? Where are all the customers? I later learned they have a ton of carry-out orders! Not a fancy place. Sparse was the first word that came to mind. A soda dispenser in the back and I had to crane my neck to find plastic utensils and straws. A few tables and a counter at the window with worn stools. Do we stay or do we go? I had a coupon so we stayed. Glad we did! A display case of pizza by the slice as you walk in the door. They have a daily special for 2 slices and a soda ($6). I am used to pizzas piled on with toppings but did not expect that because I had read the philosophy of Flippin Pizza before dining there. I was expecting toppings evenly spread out but sparse and was not disappointed. The pizza looked good and freshly made. We ordered the Bronx for $19. Pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, black olives (not from a can!!!) and fresh garlic. I was surprised at how delicious the pizza was. It tasted cheesy even though it did not look cheesy. The pepperoni rounds were small but thick while the sausage was the opposite: thinly sliced so I thought it was beef instead of sausage. The pizza slices were large and could be folded over or eaten flat...traditional New York style pizza! It was hot and very tasty. The crust was perfect: Marbled and crispy with the perfect chew texture. The surprise of the night were the garlic knots ($3) which were delicious. Cute and baked with a nice garlic flavor. The marinara dipping sauce was also very good. There was a hint of garlic and it would have been better warm. The individual salad ($4.50) was large enough for two people. Nothing fancy with lettuce and tomatoes but surprised by cannelloni beans which looked like they were from a can but did not have a metallic taste. The sides were a great value for the price. At first, I thought the pizza was overpriced but once I tasted it, I was happy. Honestly, the entire meal was a good value. I would come back if I was in the Silver Spring area.

I usually love their pizza, however last night (Monday 9/14 around 7pm) I ordered two slices of cheese pizza to go. The girl working piled the two hot slices on top of each other, with no paper in between. Anyone who eats pizza knows that the cheese of the bottom slice is going to stick to the top slice. She shoved both slices into a bag and handed it to me. Before I left, I pulled the slices out and peeled them apart, bottom slice now robbed of cheese. I pointed this out to the lady behind the counter and she really didn't care. She offered me a piece of wax paper to put between them and walked away. I'm really not one to complain (I literally signed up for yelp to write this review), but I just love pizza so much and this was a total bummer.

Maybe the mistake was in ordering through Eat 24, and that if we had ordered the pizza over the phone, it wouldn't have taken an hour and a half to arrive. The estimated delivery time was listed at 45 minutes, and when I finally called the restaurant after an hour, I was assured that the pizza was on its way. Maybe this was true-- when the pizza arrived, it was getting cold. Too bad that I had already included a tip when I paid on Eat 24. The pizza itself, once reheated, was delicious. (Maybe though, we were so ravenous at that point that we would have been grateful for anything.) There was a hair in one slice so we discarded that piece. Also, I had requested Italian dressing with my salad but got ranch. Not a big deal, but on top of the late delivery, these things were very annoying.

Ok, the Pizza is usually good, but the customer service is horrible. My boyfriend and I have ordered from here a few times, and 2/3 of the time, the order has been wrong, with no notice. If they don't have something, they don't call to tell you that they don't have it, they just throw something else in. We've ordered soda with our pizza many times, and we have always ordered 2 pepsis. without fail, they have delivered 2 vastly different drinks, and when we told them about it, they said "oh, we will bring you another one" and then they never showed up again. Also, our pizza is sometimes missing toppings, and often arrives about 15 minutes later than expected. Good pizza, horrible service.

Lower if I could. Checked online website which gave no indication that they were closed. Ordered online. Got a 45 min confirmation. Card was charged. No pizza. Called a number of times after an hour, no one picked up. Clearly closed. All indications online (even Yelp) said they were open they were not.

I like this place! I was a little skeptical at first since it was a "pizza chain". I was super hungry though, and it was the closest thing around so I figured anything at that point was good. Saw a quick review on it from one of my fellow elite members and figured i'd give it a shot. First when I found the place I realized they were like 20 minutes from closing. Figured I'd call to see if they close early. You never know these days. So I called and they said they were taking last orders. Great right? So I ordered a quick large pizza and rushed over. When I walked in there were only 2 employees left cleaning. I felt bad since it was the end of the night, however they were happy go lucky. They even offered me the end of the night slices that were going to go to waste anyways but I declined. That was nice of them. The only thing bad i'd say is the price. I ordered a large and it was 17 bucks. I could have went to Matchbox Pizza for that much! However the large...... they weren't lying. It was a LARGE pizza. Next time I'll just order a medium because they give you a TON of pizza. Maybe that is why the price was 17. When I got home, I didn't realize it was a restaurant pizza chain that specialized in NY style pizza. I love that style, and tried it. It was great pizza. Especially for being a chain! All in all I had a great experience. That is my new "quick pizza" restaurant I will be going to from now on.

I got this pizza 3 times and have been trying to figure out why I don't really like it. Not that I gave it much thought after eating it, but I noticed that I am always hesitant when it comes to this place. Well I figured it out last night. THIS PIZZA DOES NOT COME WITH TOMATO SAUCE! I don't know what kind of foolery this is, but I shouldn't have to ask for it. Don't get me wrong, the ingredients that they do give you are very good. I did remember that I liked the fact that the pizza wasn't very salty, which is why they got my money last night. But bread with only cheese on top of it can be very dry. I ordered the tomato basil pizza this time. They were skimpy with the basil, and the tomatoes didn't help the dryness. My delivery was late, so the pizza was cold. Can you imagine heating up pizza that was already DRY?? Doesn't taste very good. 2 Stars

Update: They are on their game. The food is still great and the service is greater. I've been here several times since. Once I went in for 2 slices and a drink for $5 and walked out with 2.5 pizza's worth of assorted slices for $10 because they were closing, drink included. Awesome!

In the past I would have rated Flippin a 3.5 or a 4. However the last two times we have had pizza from Flippin the ingredients were sub par. The only pizza we really like from them is the Brooklyn. So last month we ordered delivery and when the pizza arrived it was barely warm. The sausage was not the normal sausage they use, overcooked and very few. The sauce tasted canned without any doctoring, (added garlic, basil and oregano) and not like it used to. The garlic cloves were were less than 10, before you could get cloves on nearly every piece. Only 3 slices had cloves. The final nail in Flippin's coffin will be the fact that they charged our card 3 times in two days!!!!! We just got our statement and found that we were charged $60 for pizza that we never ordered and never authorized on our card. I am going to avoid Flippin as it seems that they have thrown ethics and their motto about fresh ingredients out the window. I will be calling for an explanation of why our card was charged 3 times. I will update review after I have their story.

I used to love ordering from this place, but it's changed a lot lately. If they get your order right and they get it to you fast, it's great, but that doesn't happen anymore. Expect 15-30 minutes past what they tell you, and expect them to argue when you complain that they botched your order. I get the same thing every time, I know how it's supposed to be. Being later than the delivery estimate is one thing, getting the order wrong half the time is a deal breaker.

This place has good food but my complaint is with their recent service. I literally just went and I was told that they wouldn't have slices for two hours and that all they had left was the two slices in the display. They turned me and the guy behind me away because of this. This seems like poor planning especially since their happy hour special begins in 30 minutes. I have also come in before and asked for pepperoni bites and they always gave me an outrageous wait time that indicates they don't want to go through the trouble of making their menu item. I saw a sign that they are under new management which usually indicates an improvement in customer service but this in my opinion is poor customer service. I will take my business to Pete's New Haven down the street.

Warning. Do not order large orders for a big event or meeting. They don't take the time to care if the pizza is burnt.... Even if you are spending over $1k. I think they just may have lost up to 500 customers by providing burnt add hard pizza and then not to follow up with my complaint even after informing them of my unsatisfied experience. Just wait until I get a hold of the owner..... The pictures speak for theirselves.

When this place first started it was pretty good, but after they changed management it went downhill fast. Today it's just awful. Seriously. IF they get the order right the pizza is somewhat bland and greasy. It takes forever for delivery, about 50 minutes to an hour usually, and we've stopped ordering from them. Whole Foods makes a better pizza.

I have never tried their delivery, only eaten at the location. I work in Silver Spring. This is a solid "I didn't get groceries but don't want to spend a lot" lunch. 1 slice and my one true love, diet soda for $3.25 or TWO SLICES for $6? Deal. They seemed to have very high personnel turnover for a while...and not without reason. The last couple months, the management changed and it seems like the staff screws around almost not at all. Very quick service at lunch. Airy thin crust pizza? That has sauce and isn't burnt? (I'm looking at you, Pete's.) All the dark syrupy caffeine I can drink in ~45 minutes. Brooklyn and Whitestone are my go-tos. Very good pizza. I wish they had either a hawaiian or a supreme (sausage & peppers). Cheap people who forgot their lunch can't be choosers I guess. I have never gotten the salads, but always get a tinge of jealousy when I see someone else with one. I will update when I finally try it.

I've had the pizza special at Flippin' Pizza before, but I've never had delivery. Delivery is a completely different animal. I live approximately three blocks away from Flippin' Pizza. The food came within 55 minutes of my order, but it was cold. Not ice cold, but tepid like it sat forgotten for about 15 minutes before someone thought it was a good idea to bring it to my house. I got a vegetarian pizza.The pizza was thin crust new york style. It was also HUGE. It tasted just OK, but for 19 bucks it wasn't anything to go out of my way to have again. The personal salad was a bed of lettuce, with cubed mozzarella, tomato, and white beans thrown on top. It was pretty much a forgettable afterthought. The delivery guy seemed nice, but I could tell he knew the pizza was cold. I could feel the lack of heat from the box as he handed it to me, so I knew he could feel it as well.

Pay attention to the complaints on line about delivery. We are repeat customers because we like the pizza but after our most recent experience NEVER AGAIN. We are totally willing to forgive the occasional train wreck at any given place if customer service is in place but I assure you, the customer service is not in place here. I'll let the chronology and quotes speak for themselves with one additional note: we ordered delivery 1.3 miles from flippin, a five minute drive. Online order placed and confirmed at 6:04 p.m. Delivery estimate is quoted at 45 minutes.... An hour and 15 minutes go by... 7:20 p.m.: we call "Hi just checking on our pizza." Reply: "It's on the road" Click. 20 minutes go by... 7:40 p.m.: delivery driver calls, "Do you still want your pizza?" Reply, "Is it warm?" "Yes" and driver claims he's nearby. "Okay then yes." (by now children are crying and we're hungry) 20 minutes go by ... 8:00 p.m. pizza finally arrives two hours after it was ordered. driver cannot produce accurate receipt so we can't sign anything. driver leaves, family opens pizza to find it ice cold. We call flippin to request a refund for cold pizza that took two hours to get here and are told "I told your wife the deal." What the heck does that mean?!?!?! Our request is refused and we're told we need to pursue another day. Who needs this grief? You order a pizza when you are short on time and hungry. Two hours later we got a cold pie, a line of bull and a headache over a fifteen dollar refund we will likely never see. NOT WORTH IT.

I want to like Flippin' more than I do. The thin crust is excellent and the toppings are quite good. The problem is that they put so little sauce on their pizza and, unlike the vast majority of other places, charge more for "extra" sauce to even get it to a normal amount. Not a big issue for everyone, but it is for me.

One of my two favorite pizza places. The Veggie pizza is sooo delicious!! the sauce and the dough are amazing. They have a 2 slice and a drink combo for 6 bucks. We usually get a fresh pizza because it has the best flavor but the slices are pretty good either way! The service is good and always has everything stocked that u may need, red pepper flakes, parm, napkins, plates, cutlery.

Thin, slight crisp, airy crust makes this stop tops for NY Style in Silver Spring and Montgomery County. The cheese and toppings are always in unison. As for price, a six dollar, 2 slice and drink combo is great for lunch, while a whole pie runs in the $20 range.

Maryland Pizza has been redeemed! Having just moved here- literally like last week, hubby and I were in the mood for some pizza and made the horrible mistake of ordering Manny and Olga's without checking the Yelp reviews. In an attempt to convince ourselves that there has to be some decent pizza around here, we gave this place a shot( after checking yelp of course.) Ordering was a breeze, they told us it'd be here in 45-1hr, and we started a P90X workout (yes, to only negate those calories half an hour later). Well, pizza showed up in only 30 min, piping hot, and smelling delish. We normally don't like NY style pizza (gasp), but this pizza hit the spot! The flavors were spot on, the slices huge, and it wasn't greasy in the least bit. The garlic knots were a hard as a brick-otherwise I would've given this a 5. Do we have a new pizza hot spot? Me thinks so.

Four stars for the pizza, but not for the service--although Yelp had certainly warned me about the dangers of ordering from here, we were hungry and decided to give it a shot, anyway. Even though the pizza arrived well under the 90 minute estimate, the driver was curt and upon opening the box, we found that the pizza had been knocked around en route. Like, pieces folded and flipped over. Not cool for a pizza that's pricy to begin with and charges an extra $2 FOR TOMATO SAUCE. It still tasted really good, though, so I may hazard another order from them. I'll probably just pick it up myself, though.

Trying a new delivery pizza place can be hit or miss and we were pleasantly surprised by Flippin' Pizza. We were jonesing for pizza a couple of nights ago, but sadly most of the four/five star-reviewed pizza restaurants in Silver Spring don't deliver. I recalled Flippin' Pizza from the food trucks downtown and decided to give it a try. We ordered a no frills pepperoni and black olives pizza. It was awesome. Large pieces, thin and tasty crust, and tasty overall. We liked it so much that we ordered the same pizza again last night! We ordered online. They estimate 90 minutes for delivery but both times I've received my pizza within the hour, even the second time which was a Saturday night. My only complaint is that you can't add chicken to your pizza as a topping. You can order a chicken pizza, but you can't add it as a topping when you're making your own pizza. Weird.

Coming from the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area and trying to find good pizza in the DMV area is more difficult than you would think but Flippin' is a great spot located downtown Silver Spring. I work for Metro and found Flippin' cause it is a short walk from the Silver Spring Metro Station and I enjoy gong there on my dinner breaks. It is a very clean well kept restaurant. The employees are great and very helpful.. The pizza is flavorful and not overly dressed or soggy. The crust is delicious and nice and crunchy as it is should be. The cheese on the pizza isn't overly greasy and taste really rich or fresh. The prices at Flippin' are very fair and at the end of the day well worth it anyway. The only ding I would give Flippin' is that they do not have a very good selection of drinks beyond they basics.. Other than that, go give me a shot, you will def. be satisfied!

4.675 stars. Thin, NY-style with good topping options. Reasonable price. Slow delivery, but online ordering. Only one size, and not a lot besides pizza, but that's a good thing: they do one thing and get it right. I've had several of their menu pizzas and have not found a dud. The pesto pizza is my favorite, though I think it is better with sauce ($2 extra) than without. The size is certainly too big for one, but reheats well (follow instructions on box) and works well for two. As far as I can tell, FP is the best pizza option in Silver Spring. It's not perfect--some of the toppings are a little light, in my opinion, and some (even) more creative choices would be cool--but it's darn close.

Since my last review, I have had several pizzas for carry out and let me tell you... The best way to eat it is bring it home, and bake it in your oven for a little bit more! It makes the crust crispy and sooooooo much better!

A solid pizza. The sauce is surprisingly spicy, but the pizza has a thin crust and not too cheesy. The prices are a little more reasonable than Mama Lucia (about $14 a pie instead of $16) AND they deliver. Their cheese pizza is good, but skip a pie with pepperoni--they pepperoni are very small and not worth the extra money. I wish they had more options to buy pizza by the slice (I think they usually have 4-6 choices), but I'm certainly not in NY anymore... I ordered delivery a few times and was disappointed with the time it took to be delivered. Took about 45 minutes and at the time I only lived a few blocks away.

Been going here for about two years. Was all set to be disappointed tonight as when I went in to place my order I noticed all of my old favorite happy, friendly employees were gone. They had been replaced by a quietly toiling, miserable-seeming bunch. There was a (I hope) new guy on the register who probably wasn't as dumb and untrained as he seemed but who knows? He called me "Lady" instead of "M'am" or (make me smile!) "Miss." He whistled at me to get my attention. Not a cat call whistle, no, the kind of whistle you would make to get your dog to come to you. So classy, so flattering. Still the pizza was good as ever. Had meatballs and sausage. The sausage is so good, you can really taste the fennel in it. The pies seem ginormous but the slices are really thin so 3 or 4 people can get through a pie easily. I wish they had mini, individual pies so I could, when dining alone, custom order me a pie without committing to 3 days worth of leftover slices for lunch. Tonight the slices all looked skanky dry, like they were growing things, so I wouldn't have gone near them. But at lunch time they move pretty quickly and I would consider them safe. Manga bene! But bring some cheer back inside the joint!

When ordering gluten-free pizza online, it does not specify how large it is (4 slices, not enough for two people, think Totino's frozen pizza). Then it took an hour and 15 minutes for it to be delivered despite being quoted for 45 minutes. No apology at all once it did finally come but still tipped the delivery guy over 20%... was NOT worth it. On top of the largely disappointing size, it was luke warm and I was so disappointed by then that I simply threw it into the microwave and dealt with it. To add insult to injury, the ranch that I requested didn't come either. As far as the pizza itself, it was the final nail in the coffin. We ordered 'the Brooklyn' which was supposed to have pepperoni, meatballs, and mushrooms but also opted for ricotta in addition. There was less than 6 pieces pepperoni on the entire pie, the meatballs were NOT actual meatballs but a single meatball sliced into pieces that could have easily been overlooked, and no mushrooms in sight. The taste was pretty bland and disappointing but at this point I gave up all hope for this place. The supervisor I talked to was receptive when I called to complain (a first for me, ever) and offered for another pizza to be delivered or to be compensated with credit but I was so largely disappointed in this pizza shop that I declined and will NEVER order from this establishment again.

I've had better pizza, for sure...but, I've also had worse. I went here twice and the first time was decent, but when I ordered delivery the second time it was sad...not only was the delivery experience crappy, but the food was worse too! It was immensely greasy and soggy. Took them 45 mins to deliver to less than a mile away, and then the delivery boy was expecting an enormous tip...only reason I obliged is because it sucks being in the food service industry.

Don't order from here. Both my wife and I got food poisoning. Must have been serving rancid pepperonis or something, because we were both sick the next day. I had to miss my own birthday party because of it. My wife, who did not get sick the following day immediately like I did, had the leftovers for lunch and was violently ill after that for the rest of the day into the evening (not great when you are trying to safely drive home with an infant in the back seat). Ate at / ordered from the one in DC on Connecticut Ave. a bunch shortly after it opened when I lived there. But this one in Silver Spring should be avoided at all cost. I ordered a thin crust, BBQ chicken pizza online to be delivered, from this place, which is 2 miles from my home. It took 90 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold. Not even remotely warm. Fully cold. And it was not a BBQ pizza, it was a Buffalo chicken pizza. When I called to complain, they said that location didn't carry BBQ chicken. The woman answering the phone couldn't tell me why they decided to make me something else without picking up the phone. Instead she called me sweetie and condescended to me the entire time. I wasn't rude, but I was annoyed. Won't get pizza from here again.

I thought I had already reviewed this, but I guess not. I'm kind of glad I didn't because I might not have given the restaurant 5 stars lol. So today (maybe about 1 hour ago?) I went here for lunch. I go here maybe once every month or two. The pizza is decent, but of course not as good as NYC. But why the 5 stars then you ask? -lunch specials are 2 slices of any pizza and a drink for $6 (which includes tax). it used to be a bit cheaper, but inflation and the economy.. so $6 is a good deal. free refills on drinks too. -SERVICE - see below. Often times with the service it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the person ringing me up is especially friendly/nice. Othertimes, the person doesn't even seem like they want to be there. However, the owner/manager is always friendly (the guy with tattoos up his arm). A year or many months ago.. when I was going to sit down at a table to eat, he quickly came over and wiped my table off for me before I sat down to eat. It wasn't even really dirty. Just had some crumbs on it. Then today I went in for lunch... and I noticed he was 1) making the pizza; 2) cooking the pizza; 3) answering the phone; 4) ringing up customers. ALL BY HIMSELF! and.. even while being so busy, he was still friendly and nice. I heard one customer ask "short staffed today? you're by yourself" and he said "yeah two people called out sick on me today. i already fired one of them". i mean seriously.. it looks like a chill place to work.. economy is bad.. im sure there are people who would love a job that is indoors.. i guess people are just lazy and ungrateful. Anyways, the owner/manager was nice and I felt bad that he was running the whole operation by himself (and doing a good job at it!) props to him and for keeping up the good customer service.. even when it is chaotic in the restaurant!

My husband and I tried this last night as the restaurant was near our hotel. We were greeted warmly by Moses who was clearly busy being the order taker, cook, waiter, dish washer. Nyep, he was working alone but still took time to be friendly and explain the menu. We ordered a $19 19 inch pizza which is huge. We got the Brooklyn and he let us make modifications. The special was buy one get one free but we certainly couldn't eat 2 pizzas so I asked him if he would give our second one to someone who needed to eat but didn't have money. He agreed and gave us a salad for our generosity. The salad was terrific....fresh, full of veggies, beans, cheese. It was large enough for us to share. The pizza came and was beautiful with very thin crust. Lots of toppings on it too. When we were leaving, Moses gave our second pizza to 2 young boys and had them thank us......totally unnecessary but nice. The pizza was good but Moses made this an exceptional experience for us!

I visited this place for the first time early this week after purchasing the LivingSocial deal a few months ago, and I must say I was impressed. The single employee at the time was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. He actually helped us maximize the value of our LivingSocial coupon, which I've found is a rather rare thing among restaurants that participate in these promotions. The pizza itself was great. Their use of garlic is spot-on, and the pies themselves are quite large. A single pie, a salad, and order of garlic knots was enough for two full meals for my spouse and myself. Their lunch special (two slices and a drink for $6) is a pretty good deal; I only wish I worked closer to the restaurant so I could take advantage of it.

Ok I have had TWO horrible experiences at this place... First time I went in person, the pizza is fantastic, but I was given $4 in counterfeit dollars as change on my cash order. When I tried to get them to give me different bills they told me no can do. So I was out $4 when I turned it over to the bank for destruction since they weren't any good. Then I tried to have a pizza delivered to my apartment three blocks from the shop. They take all of your information down, your name, address, and phone number. I repeated all of the information three or four times each clearly, concisely and asked him to repeat it back which he did. He said 30-45 minutes for a pizza, which is fine I can live with that. But after an hour and a quarter I called them back and was informed I gave them bad information for both my apartment number and my telephone so they left with the pizza and couldn't contact me. Then they asked if I had already paid for it.. and I was like ah yeah I used credit card after the last problem. So they offered to send me ANOTHER pizza in 45 MINUTES! Who the heck wants pizza 3 hours after they placed their order? I could have driven to NYC for a pizza already and gotten a decent pie!

I wonder how many people on their way here have said, "I'm so flippin' hungry! I can't wait for this flippin' pizza! ...Ha ha!" I mean, I definitely didn't. That would be really flippin' lame. Anyway, we ordered the Bronx pizza (whole pizzas in one size only: 18" for $19), featuring sausage, onions, olives, green peppers, mushrooms, and garlic, and it usually comes with pepperoni but we substituted in artichoke hearts. 'Cause, you know, we wanted it to be a healthy meal. I ran in while the hubs waited in the car, and the guy who helped me kept calling me things like "baby girl," "sweetie," and like 8 other versions of the same. Now, normally I cut that off with a quickness, but he totally caught me off guard, given that I was at a pizza counter in a sweatshirt and Santa slippers stuffed into flip-flops (flippin'-flops?). I was glad I didn't though, because the number of monikers he had was amaaaazing! I kept thinking he was gonna have to reuse one, and he kept busting out with more! Okay back to the food. It was my first time trying Flippin' Pizza (I think), and it was... a mixed bag. I liked the taste of the crust, but it was so thin, it was super floppy by the time we got it home only a few minutes away. I could really taste the freshness of many of the veggie toppings (shout-out to the artichoke hearts!), but was super disappointed by the mushrooms, usually my favorite pizza topping. They were so small and scarce, we thought for a while they hadn't been put on at all. Bummer. Anyway, not a bad option for pick-up or delivery, and the interior's cute (brick walls, etc.) and they sell by the slice, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Unless I feel like having somebody call me "little lady" when I'm fully slummin' it, just for irony's sake.

The pizza here was always good but I'm giving only two stars because of a lousy delivery experience I had recently. I ordered four slices of pizza, which their website was happy to accomodate since I was over their delivery minimum. The delivery estimate was 1.5 hours. After waiting this hour and a half while very hungry I got a call from the restaurant telling me they don't deliver slices. Why does their website accept orders for it then? Why did it take an hour and a half to let me know? EDIT: I was really hungry and stopped in for some slices. I gotta give Flippin' Pizza a F'Yea! I've avoided this pizza chain for a bit partially because I thought the name was too damn cheesy. Plus, most places that claim to have the the best New York style pizza outside of New York are usually a far, sad cry from the real thing. However, Flippin' Pizza swings for the fences at their attempt. I ordered a slice of the Brooklyn pizza loaded with cheese, sliced meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms and fresh garlic. Excellent thin crust pizza - warm, crisp, not too greasy and cheapy cheap! A medium fountain soda and and a slice ran me only $3.18. They also have a deal where you can get two slices of pizza and a soda for $5. Just be aware that parking is a lovely, female beast here. You're better off calling in your order or scooping some while walking from the metro. Now say with me, 3x: I will not judge a restaurant by it's hokey name. I was driving past this place on my way home from the gym and I spied not one, but TWO parking meter spots opened right in front of here. It was destiny for me to pop in. As mentioned, their ongoing special is two slices of their New York style thin pizza and a soda/juice for $5.00, but did you know you can get one slice and a soda for just $3.00? That may not satisfy the famished, but it is a great deal. I liked my tomato and basil slices, but wasn't blown away. The pizzas are precooked of course and when you order the cashier reheats them for you. I prefer pizza straight from the oven and piping hot. This is not what you get, even though the slices are as thick as cardboard, they are very flavorful. No beer or wine at this location... yet. Damn MoCo and their stringent regulations! They consider pizza a 'snack", not a meal according to the employee I spoke to. So, if pizza is a snack, then the pathetic 73 calories I burned on the treadmill at the gym today will balance out my indulgence, right? I think not.

Awfully difficult to beat their deals: $6 for two slices (their slices are enormous) and a drink, $18 for two pizzas on Mondays and Tuesdays! The place is rarely crowded which is a definite plus in an area where space is hard to come by.

Two slices plus a fountain drink for $5 -- that's a good buy. And the slices are pretty big, too. The pizza tastes pretty good, though (in agreement with others' reviews) it's not the absolute best I've had. But considering the price, it is more than worth it. The place tries to evoke New York, and since I was born and raised there, I can say that the New York style is pretty much what they serve. (They have named the particular combinations of toppings things like "Brooklyn," "Whitestone," "Triboro," and such.) One thing, though -- to echo the New York idea, they have a bunch of old photos of New York City at various times in the past, labeled with where they were, and one labeled "Times Square" WASN'T. It was Madison Square, two long blocks east and about 20 south of Times Sq. They really should fix that! Except for the mislabeled picture, the place is pretty decent.

A short walk from the Silver Spring Metro, it's a great place to stop for two slices and a drink for five bucks. That stuff that most people think is oil on top of the slice isn't oil, it's just some of the fat getting cooked out of good mozzarella. Crisp and thin, but with a pleasant chew, fresh ingredients that aren't overused but are apparent. Metered parking on the street, and it's hard to find an open meter during lunch. In my opinion, Flippin' Pizza is pretty flippin' good NY-style pizza (not too much tomato sauce -- just the way I like it). I had the Triboro, which featured meatballs, sausage, and pepperoni. I wasn't a big fan of the garlic knots, but the pizzas and slices are pretty big, so you probably don't even need an appetizer. I ordered a full pie but they have a great special -- 2 slices and a Pepsi for $5. Tip: If you drive, park at the Cameron-Second garage ( yelp.com/biz/cameron-sec… ) and walk a couple of blocks.

This pizza is very authentic and fresh, it is more expensive than others, but I think it is worth it for the taste and lack of artificial ingredients. I order online which is convenient and the pizza is always ready when I get there. My favorite is the whitestone pizza base and I add artichoke, roasted red peppers and sausage. Mmm!

I would call it Neo-New York Pizza. It's trendier and has some not so traditional topping choices but is overall the best pizza I've had in the DC area. The atmosphere is actually pretty nice and not what I'm used to in a New York pizza spot. The specialty pizza's have fun New York inspired names (Brooklyn, Bronx, Whitestone, etc) and I'm especially impressed with the availability of white pizza.They don't have different size options, only large, so it can get a bit pricey if you wanted to order a pizza for only a few people but the quality redeems that. They also have a special... I want to say $6 for two slices and a drink... that's quite reasonable.

Very Taste-filled pizza! Crust is not stupid thick for a regular pizza and cheese seems to have an herb or something quite flavorful mixed in. Pepperoni is the small one that become 'bowl-like' in shape when cooked. Pizza can be greasy with these pepperoni. The pepperoni seems to have more flavor than usual pepperoni though. Decent size inside. Not terribly big or small. Street parking. Some street spots out front. Pizza is big! Slices are Big!! Pizza is GOOD!! Worth trying!

As a New Yorker, I love this New York style pizza. This is the only place outside of NY that has gotten the style right while also having its own distinct flair and flavor. OK, I'm from Jersey, I have lived in NYC and I think I have a good feel for what is good NY style pizza. When i first walked in I thought I had made a huge mistake. The place looked a little run down and all the tables were dirty. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza for eat in and hoped for the best. I'm happy to report that once we ordered, the staff got right to cleaning the place up and getting us set up at a table. It seemed to take a while to get the pizza and at one point the manager came over and said he was unhappy with the way it came out of the oven (over cooked) and was going to make another one - he also gave it to us for free for the inconvenience. We were not pressed for time so in this case it was not big deal and we though it was a nice way to treat customers. It was worth wait - the pizza was very good. Leftovers heated up great which is nice bonus. So many of the places just don't have the receipt that allows for good day after pizza. We will be going back.

Flippin' Pizza claims to make NY style pizza, so being a native New Yorker I thought to myself, "I'll be the judge of that." I made a pit stop into the restaurant the other day and had a feeling of nostalgia as I saw the dough being tossed and glimpsed pizza titles such as Brooklyn, Bronx, and Triboro on the menu. I decided to order the 18-inch cheese pie, which cost $14 plus tax for 8 slices. The cheese slices with red peppers sprinkled on top were scrumptious. The slices were big, thin, and crispy and had a nice balance of cheese and tomato sauce. The restaurant has a cool vibe. The place is large enough to seat about 34 people. Black and white vintage pictures of NYC hang on brick walls and give the place character. The guys who make the pizzas are an enthusiastic bunch. They certainly brought a smile to my face or maybe that was just my full stomach.

Shame upon me and my fitness goals for giving in to their college-student-budget friendly Mon/Tues special. I'm supposed to be above all of that and get only the best of the best high society pizza now that I'm all grown'd up but walking past the little shop that day and my stomach growling I just couldn't resist.I would hesitate to say it's authentic New York style...however, I can't fault them too much because this tends to be a common offense amongst pizzerias outside of new york - at least from my observations. The slices are a decent size and the pizzas are ok for what it's worth. There's enough seating to come in with a small (3-4 people) group or family and sit down to enjoy your meal and parking can be a pain if you come during the bedeviled rush hour when Colesville becomes Slowsville. But, if you're on a budget or just in the mood for an inexpensive carb fest to tide you over,this is it!

Store visit: Me and a co-worker went during their free pizza day to promote car free day. It was very very busy for good reason. The two guys working very hard to fulfill all the free orders told me that their managers never even told them about the promotion. That would suck walking into that. The store experience was what you would expect from any pizza place. Internet order: After placing an order on a saturday night for a large Brooklyn the web system gave me an estimated delivery time of 80 minutes. They don't tell you that until you place the order. I called and canceled the order after an hour. They said the pizza was ready but the driver wouldn't be back for another 20 minutes. That means our pizza would be 30-40 minutes old by the time we got it. Another hour went by and the driver called from the lobby of my building asking me to come down for my pizza. His manager never told him the order got cancelled. The Food: Their pizza is ok, I had a slice of Brooklyn and a slice of Buffalo Chicken. Neither had much sauce, actually almost no sauce. The flavor was ok and I really like the crispy thin crust. The price: I don't think a pizza from there is a good value. It's very thin and doesn't fill you up. The service: They seem pretty disorganized. I bet Dominos had delivered 10 pizzas by the time they got one out the door. Can't see them being in business for very long if they keep this up. The bottom line: Go to Mama Lucia's instead.

The Flippin Pizza chain has been able to live up to my Jersey-ized pizza standards, with the exception of this location. I've been to 3 other Flippin' Pizza in the area, and this is by far worst one I've experienced. I ordered the tri-boro slice, whitestone slice, and garlic knots. Both slices tasted stale, and the garlic knots were missing garlic and weren't fully cooked. I definitely recommend trying Flippin Pizza, but would avoid going to this particular location.

Very affordable! Very horrible! I am VERY easy to please when it comes to pizza. I've been to this Flippin' Pizza four times - always returning thinking they may have changed and deserve another chance. I convinced my husband to try the Silver Spring, Maryland Flippin Pizza due to the taste and low cost. We chose the 6 dollars for two pizza slices and drink meal deal. The cashier was friendly, made us feel appreciated as customers, and served our order within a reasonable time period. Due to eating from there this past Tuesday, I am only able to remember some of the toppings. However, I do recall that some of the toppings were mozzarella, pepperoni, meatballs, and garlic. My spouse's pizza slices were slightly similar to mine (minus the meatballs). My husband had a Dr. Pepper for his drink while I chose a hybrid of Dr. Pepper, lemonade, and Sprite.

It should be illegal to draw advertising comparisons to NY outside of NY. This place is a joke, and the reviews on here simply reiterate how much people in this area know nothing about pizza. NADA. I invoke my NY blood right now to tell you: 1. It averages $1.00 more per slice. 2. The slices are small 3. The slices are bland, bland, bland, tasteless, bland 4. The crust is a greasy, soggy, joke. And one of my biggest pet peeves of the lame ass "pizzerias" in this area are when they have crushed red pepper in the parmesean shakers. People should get shot for that shit. Pepper goes in the dispenser with the SLOTS. THE SLOTS!!! THE HOLED DISPENSER IS FOR PARMESEAN. The only thing that is NY about this place is how they package to-go slices in the brown paper bags, and not the mini pizza boxes. That's authentic. Yup. The to-go packaging is legit. Didn't make the pizza taste any better though. Bottom line: In my least food discriminatory moments (Read: hungover), this place wouldn't even make the cut. And that says a lot. Hot Employee Alert: Spanish/Black looking guy is a cutie. Too short for me, but if you're under 5'3, check him out. Very polite too.

Thanks to Tara's F-yea review, I had to try this place. Really yummy thin-crust crunchy pizza. My baby like it (and he's a NYC pizza-snob). For the price it's definitely a 4-star place. I was bummed they had Pepsi products and not much else to choose from in the drink area. I had a salad (in addition to a slice). It was what you'd expect from a place like that: iceburg lettuce, some white beans, cheese.

Flippin' Pizza advertises that it has been voted 'Best Pizza' in Washington by Washingtonian Magazine. Technically this is true, but only because they used their corporate clout to give anyone in their Fan Club a free pizza if they won the contest decided by popular vote. As a result, Flippin' Pizza fans from California flooded the Washingtonian's website and rigged the outcome. Adding insult to injury, Flippin' doesn't even have a store open in the District, although one in Dupont is "Coming Soon." Similarly, this store in Silver Spring had been advertised as "Coming Soon" for ages. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I suppose neither is Flippin' Pizza. I'm really not sure what took so long to build, the decor is so minimalist, I could have put this place together in a week with a can of paint, a pile of cheap lumber and a pocket knife. I had the lunch special, which is two slices and a drink for $5. Wow! Really cheap. You see why though when you taste the pizza. It's not bad, but lacks flavor or any kind of bite. It's not huge, sloppy and greasy like true NY Pizza I've had, nor does it have strong flavors like gourmet pizzerias. The 'Brooklyn' boasts meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms and garlic, but it all kind of melds together into a mediocre slice. The 'Whitestone' at least had nice Ricotta cheese splashes to make up for its otherwise unremarkable texture. Flippin' Pizza provides exactly what you would expect from a sterile National pizza chain serving mass produced NY style pizza . There is no reason to visit it unless you are nearby, and looking for something fast, cheap and decent. All in all, that's not a bad thing, and I'll probably be back for a quick lunch since I work around the corner. But it deserved to win that Washingtonian contest about as much as the Chuck E. Cheese in Herndon.

I came really close to giving this Flippin' Pizza five stars. It wasn't the best thin-crust pizza I've ever had, but it was pretty good. A friend and I went to try it before we saw a movie at the Majestic a few blocks up. Flippin' Pizza is a real short walk from the Silver Spring metro stop, another big plus. Both of us tried the two slices and a drink for 5 bucks special. It was cooked just right, a little chewy with just the right amount of crust. The bottom wasn't burnt, which I thought was a good sign that they know what they are doing. The decor makes you feel like you're in a neighborhood pizza joint. The next time I'm in Silver Spring I'm going to come back and try some of their other kinds of pizza.

I have had this pizza twice. The first time, I was so hungry I would have eaten pretty much anything. So of course it was good. The second time I ate it, it was for breakfast. My boyfriend had ordered it two nights before and it was cold. It was still delicious. I don't know what NY-Style pizza is supposed to taste like, so I cannot comment on that. But the crust is crispy and toppings are flavorful. Only problem is that its much more expensive than the usual take out pizza joint (aka Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc).

There's a remarkable difference between the slices that are sitting around tanning, and a fresh made to order pie. I only get whole pies. Old slices = slap the server. Fresh pie = slap your momma.

Flippin' recently won the Pizza "tournament bracket" by Washingtonian ... and I'm a bit surprised. Solid offering ... although I fancy more sauce on my slice ... with decent, firm crust. Would I eat another slice from here? Sure ... but I wouldn't road trip for it ... even if I lived 5 minutes from there.

Staying at a hotel that's 2 blocks away from this place and I ordered a large Bronx pizza for delivery. It took an hour and ten minutes to get the pizza. Not the best time but I was really hungry for some pizza. Well after eating my first slice, I can say this is one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten. My jaw is tired after one slice. The crust is extremely tough and the pizza lacks toppings. Maybe eating at the restaurant is better but the crust and cheese are horrible.

I don't love the sauce and the slice tastes better if you let it sit a bit rather than eating it right away. Still, it's pretty good pizza and cheap. I wouldn't seek this place out and I'm not sure that it's really much better than the equally just OK Zpizza but it's not a bad cheap lunch option.

Flippin' pizza is flippin' amazing! I've been here several times over the past couple years and have once even devoured all of an 18-inch pizza unaided. It's a local chain with 8 locations in the DC area. They do a pretty good job of imitating an NY-style pie; their pepperoni is probably the most flavorful pepperoni that I've ever had. The cheese is amazing and filled with orange gooeyness. They have several options for pizza-by-the-slice; if you choose to go the "by the slice" route, I recommend either the pepperoni or the "Tomato Basil." However, note that the slices are taken from cold pizzas that have been sitting out for a while and are reheated. I'd recommend coming with a couple buddies and splitting a whole pie; that'd way you won't have to bother with reheated pizza.

We were searching for a pizza that was thin crust, more cheese, less sauce and good pepperoni and sausage -- Found it here! It's a neighborhood type pizza place, nothing fancy for eating in--but it tasted just like the family owned pizzaria pizza that I grew up eating outside of New Haven...where the best pizza originated!

i ordered from flippin pizza because it was the only place that delivered that was not a "big chain" like pizza butt or domihoes. IT IS GREAT NY STYLE PIZZA!!!!!!!!! i may order another today, the brooklyn and tomato basil are on point!

Great pizza, great prices, and quick. They also have knots which are how every pizza place should do it. Garlic rolls/knots are money. I'm not going to say this is exactly like NY pizza because it probably isn't. But it is the best pizza in the area and overall it is delicious. Huge slices and plenty of different toppings. My one complaint is the delivery range. They claim to only deliver up to the beltway but on occasion they will go a little beyond it. There is just no consistency. Terrible to have to rely on the whims of the on call manager for delivery.

For Pizza in suburban Maryland, this is about as good as I've found. Thin crust, slightly sweet sauce. I'm going 5 Stars for the quality at it's price point. Will definitely be going back. Now, I've got to talk a bunch of friends into an AFI movie night with a stopover at Flippin' Pizza.

Delicious, floppy sliced goodness. Oh man. There aren't enough good pizza places in Silver Spring, so this place is a great find. Slices are huge, ingredients seem very fresh. Lots of options- you can choose from lots of toppings online. White pizza was mouth wateringly good- also liked the cheese pizza with pesto and basil. Highly recommend!

They got greedy and now charge $6 for two slices and a drink--which wouldn't be bad if the slices weren't so damn small. Seriously, when they first opened, the slices were noticeably larger. The slices are oily and the amount of toppings hit-or-miss. Plus they now have all of these ugly hand-made signs out front telling you that bathrooms are for customers only, you can't wear a mask inside, etc. Kind of strange and unappealing. Mama Lucia's pizza down the street is MUCH better, and their larger slices are worth the extra $$ and wait.

The best pizza in Silver Spring. Although it isn't as good as the best mom-and-pop pizzerias, Flippin's Pizza makes a good pizza. The curbside pickup is also convenient if you are getting pizza to go. At $14 for a large, it is cheaper and better than Z Pizza.

any place that uses the words 'new york style pizza' is gonna get some flak from self-righteous new yorkers. well never mind their ridiculous expectations, this is good pizza. i was not born in ny but lived in queens for a few years and i know ny pizza as well, and this is as close as we're gonna get here in the land of no-good-pizza. and incidentally i should point out that if you order a pie to be delivered it is FAR superior to what they have by the slice in the shop. the whole pie really seems to be made differently--more cheese and sauce and much more flavor. the slices in-store are ok but seem a bit bland, not sure if they alter the recipe for sitting around under a heat lamp. but the delivered pizza is JUST as good as any pizza i had in nyc and in fact better than some of the shops up there. despite what a new yorker will tell you, not every pizza place up there is great.
