Best take out in the area. Love their mini egg rolls and their fried rice. Also, tired the orange beef and it's delicious! Will definitely be coming back for more!

Been eating here for years. Food is pretty good. It's no pf changs but still decent. Wonton soup is good as well as lo mein and fried rice. If you order an egg roll, know that it will be shrimp unless you ask for the mini egg rolls. I recommend the crispy chicken and walnuts and steak on a stick. Definitely only do carry out and not delivery. Old lady driver is rude and begs for ridiculously high tips.

geez...how many people have ordered from here over the many many years verses how many reviews.. caveat...after growing up in kemp mill...for...wait, i need fingers....10 years and then my immediate fam still living in the towers until at least 2009...i feel as though i am qualified to review. trust me...my family has a certain affection for americanized chinese food. so i AM completely and overly qualified to review this...joint. yes, it is a joint....pick up or delivery only. once upon a time, i think they had one or two tables and a few chairs inside but those were not present when i stopped in to pick up .... five dozen mini eggrolls. ;) perhaps nostalgic, but not going to sugarcoat or be inconsiderate to any current kemp mill residents. so this review is ONLY for the mini eggrolls which i picked up the last days of december 2014. AND.... AND..... amazing, crazy...happy me. the mini eggrolls are still the same. chopped/ pulverized cabbage+veg filing with a slight tick of black pepper....Oh Em Gee. sitting in front of shalom, (bris deckle anyone?) that was previously the giant.. i called in an order for five dozen....two for my sistaaaah (really, my sister), two for my bestie who fell in love with the minis so many umpteen years ago...and one for me. the nice chicky on the phone that took my order was probably confused why i would want so many...and i did ask that they pack each dozen in separate bags (easier to deliver to the hinterlands that we all now call home) and they did. kindly she asked if i wanted them hot...nope...but thanks (how really considerate actually), they would never be hot by the time i made the hour trek north. so...yes..they are still the same. and really really good in that junk food kind of way.... but...now since ordering so many and that they were available cold...not frozen, just cold but cooked/fried. i think that they must come in pre-made. sad to realize (i hate maturing and knowing too much)...but...i am okay with this... chin & lee is a small neighborhood joint and thus far and has survived the evolution(s) of the shopping center in kemp mill for so many many years. if you live in the immediate 'hood just realize what this joint is...it is solid east coast small neighborhood chinese pick-up/delivery. **if you are comparing a neighborhood american chinese joint to what you experience in a real chinese restaurant, which you cannot find in dc anyways (well a&j's - which is completely different).... really...i can't help you, cause you just didn't understand the premise in the first place...at any price point.

I've been to this Chinese restaurant twice and it's the nastiest Chinese I've ever had. I always thought each restaurant could never go wrong ? boy was I mistaken. fried rice, gross. egg roll tasted like chicken soup. I was expecting better with the awards they had on the wall. but no. never again.

Szechuan chicken with a minimal amount of carrots and celery, I asked the girl If there were equal amounts of celery and carrots, I like lots of carrots Like the way they make it at what is now Danny's sub shop. When I got the dish home I was disappointed there was maybe one or two shreds of vegetable for each nugget of chicken. If I wanted something like this I would've ordered Orange or kung pao chicken. At Danny's you also get shredded chicken which has not been battered. So, there's chicken, rice, celery, and carrots so what are these little charred pieces , are the flakes from the wok? I will go back and try some other dishes.

So we've order from here three times. The first time the food/delivery service was ok, maybe three stars (Sweet and Sour Chicken / Sesame Chicken). The food came 45 minutes after it was ordered on a Saturday night at 7 PM. The second time I ordered for myself and had to order two egg rolls (which have unadvertised shrimp in them, I'm allergic so its a good thing I didn't eat them!) to get over the $10 minimum for delivery. The lady on the phone could barely understand me and it took 5 minutes to place a simple order. The food was ok, but not to the standard of the first order. When the delivery lady arrived, she complained about a $2 tip on a $12 dollar delivery order. She played the guilt card on me and got an extra dollar with an "oh I'm a poor old woman, can you give me more" routine. I was hungry and thought it was kind of funny at the time so I didn't mind too much. Tonight we order from there again. Food arrived in a decent amount of time but the same delivery lady showed up. After giving her a 25% tip on delivery the last time I planned on a solid 10% on principal. My wife answered the door, as I was holding our baby and my sister in law was holding the dogs. I told my wife to get change back from her and she started the same act again. From the living room I yelled "You tried that last time and I gave you a bigger tip, its not going to work again." She started arguing with my wife and pushed her way into the front door. "You cost more cause you live so far away. That's why I want more tip." She said to me as I held my 3 month old. We live 2.2 miles away from the store. That's not far at all! Needless to say we will not be ordering take out from Chin & Lee again. It doesn't matter if the food is decent (3 stars), I refuse to be harassed in my own living room by a delivery driver. Especially one who smelled like she stepped out of a seafood kitchen.

Food is great. Location is convenient. And the price is exceptionally cheap.

Quick, close and yummy! Those are my 3 major characteristics when looking for Chinese food. Chin and Lee is strictly a carryout place, so no room to eat there. The usual wait is around 15 minutes, so you can either call ahead or place your order there and then kill some time in the nearby CVS. They also have delivery too, but I haven't utilized it yet. The lunch specials are decent and the rest of the food is reasonably priced. They also have some unique items that I haven't seen on other Chinese restaurant menus before.

I ordered chicken wings and fried rice. Both things were horrible, nasty, disgusting, you get the point. The wings did not have any flavor and the way they are breaded was disappointing. It stated 6 chicken wings, but it's 4 wings which happen to be broken up in several pieces. How can they mess up on wings! I will never be coming back!

I stopped by here for lunch once and I did not go back. I ordered orange chicken with fried rice. The orange chicken was a pile of chicken with a ton of brown guap on it. It did not taste like what I was expecting and the brown sauce pile was not good. I was utterly disappointed. The fried rice was also not good. It lacked flavor and was dry. I barely got a third of the way through before I stopped eating. I hate to give bad reviews but this is honestly the worst place I've gotten Chinese food from and I've been to quite a few Chinese places - both sit down restaurants and fast take out ones like this.

I was at the new house waiting on WA Gas and my husband was registering for schools and discovered Chin & Lee on his way home and stopped for lunch (orange chicken & cashew chicken) and two shrimp egg rolls. A TON of food. Inexpensive. My husband enjoyed it quite well and said the wait was tolerable (he has ZERO patience). It was decent but not authentic in the true sense of the word but for fast, carryout you definitely got a lot for your money. My cashew chicken wasn't overly flavorful but it was hot and filling. The egg rolls were hot and crispy and cooked nicely. I am not an orange chicken lover but my husband enjoyed it and that they sauce was separate so that it didn't get soggy on the drive home. They have a large variety of menu items and coupons in the takeout menu which begs for me to try it again SOON!

If you are craving Americanized- Greasy "Chinese" food, this place will hit the spot. Wish they offered a smaller sized order of the curry triangles. Hot and sour soup is pretty much similar to any other place you would get it at. Service is pretty quick and prices are reasonable. Plus that it is close to MacGruders!!!

Good Chinese carry-out, we particularly like to order off the low-fat section of the menu. It's totally carry-out, no dining area. No, they don't take reservations but you can call your order in before pick-up or have it delivered. Don't know why it's rated not kid-friendly as it's just an ordering counter and a few chairs for people waiting for their food.

My family and I absolutely LOVE Chin & Lee. The lady who answers the phone always remembers us when we call in to place our order. In fact, this evening she even remembered that it had been quite some time since our last order - we've been trying to eat healthier ;-) Delivery is always correct and the food arrives quickly and hot! We love the Chicken Chow Fun, Lo Mein, Chow Mein, Dumplings, Egg Rolls, and the Double Cooked Pork. They have really great combination platters ranging from $6.95 to $9.95 and that gets you a TON of food. Just really great food at really reasonable prices. You won't go wrong with Chin & Lee!!

Save your taste buds for another place, seriously. The food here is borderline typical - not by any means extraordinary. Chin and Lee fail for taste and attention to detail. For example, I ordered the following to qualify this rating: The fried wontons were over fried in their House Special Subgum Wonton. You better have healthy set of teeth and gums to weather the chewing on these near rawhide Frankenstein treats. This dish also had a peculiar smell of bay water-most dissatisfying. Their freshness of the shrimp in this dish was questionable. The basic wonton soup was lacking salt and flavor. The wontons were filled with a tiny teaspoon of some distasteful meat mixture. The broth was hot, but rather bland. Pros: Affordable pricing. Friendly on time delivery. Cons: taste and attention to detail. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants. This one can be skipped. With so many other Chinese restaurants to choose from, save your money your taste buds and go somewhere else. Enjoy your food- don't question it like I did. My first order with Chin and Lee was also my last. In my opinion, anyone who rates Chin and Lee more than 2 stars has a palette of a starving homeless person or are the restaurant's family members.

General tso's was fresh, tender, perfectly cooked and not to much breading. Crab rangoon a little too crispy. Called again on a saturday around 5 pm, was ready in 20 min though they said it would be ready in 10. But no biggie. Will order from there again for sure.

It's your basic DC- area carry out, but it's consistently decent food. I'm a big fan of their chicken fried rice, and since I shop at the Macgruders store two doors down, it's convenient. Some of the other dishes (General Tsos Chicken) were ok; I'm not raving about them, but if you need a quick, convenient Chinese food fix, this is a decent place to go.

I ordered food twice in the last two weeks and it's been delicious! The won ton soup is off-the-hook. The wontons are the biggest I've ever seen and are wonderful. The hot and sour soup is great too, but could be spicier. Another reviewer recommended the Chicken Chow Foon, which is wonderful. The noodles are so silky, the chicken is sliced breast meat and the vegetables are nice and crunchy. Lovely dish. The same reviewer also recommended the Double Cooked Pork, which is great. I think my favorite though is the Kung Pao Beef, but definitely ask for extra peanuts. My niece was visiting and this was her favorite too. The mini egg rolls are great, although I wish they came with hot mustard packets. I asked for these, but they don't have them, so they included a small container of hot mustard, which was fine. Also, make sure to request NO MSG. They use it there, but won't if you ask them not to. I don't know why they use MSG because the quality of their ingredients is the best I've had at any Chinese restaurant. No funny stuff or mystery meat here. The place is a small storefront---literally a hole-in-the-wall. But, if you order food here, you will be happy. They deliver quickly too. I have lived near this restaurant for nearly 20 years and I could kick myself for not trying it sooner. Here's another tip---if you like your food spicy, ask them to make it extra spicy. I should also mention that the prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. Don't forget to tip your delivery person! They get the food to you quickly. You will get what you ordered and it will be hot and fresh. Bottom line? This place ROCKS. I almost hate to let the secret out, but had to share it with my fellow Yelpers.

Ordered from here for delivery over the past weekend. If it weren't for them delivering during a snowstorm then the review would be 1star. I ordered simple since the online menu was down and I couldn't see what they offered but doubt it would've mattered. I ordered chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein, shrimp spring rolls and the mini egg-rolls(since i saw rave reviews about them). 1- the rice was very greasy and the chicken was very tough and no flavor 2- the lo mein was extremely bland and full of mushrooms(don't get me wrong i love mushrooms but it was basically 97%noodles and mushrooms and 3% chicken and whatever other veggie was suppose to be there) 3- the spring rolls were packed with shrimp but the inside was "wet" like crispy outside but soggy inside and 4- the mini egg-rolls which would've been the best part of my order were over cooked and burnt so i could even enjoy them!!! Also they sent no soy sauce, duck sauce or hot mustard! I will never go back! I do appreciate the delivery in the snow but that doesn't mean you delivery burnt food!

I was next door and hungry, and I knew a friend had gotten takeout from this place before, so I tried it and was incredibly disappointed. Thefood was flavorless and the chicken had a strange taste - I suspect it was on the way to going bad. I won't go back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
