Color me shocked. I was waiting for a tire rotation and balance up the road at Radial Tire (see my review, they're awesome). The kiddo was getting hungry, and it was going to be a while, so I decided we would walk to a deli. About half-way to the other deli, we walked by Brookville Eatery. Brookville Eatery doesn't look like anything from the outside. In fact, the kiddo looked at me quite askance and asked if I was going to make her try a sketchy restaurant again. "Shush", I said. "Sometimes you find hidden gems in unassuming places. We can at least look at the menu." So, we walked in. It doesn't look like much more on the inside than it does on the outside, but the kiddo saw a magic word on the board above the counter. They had pancakes. She was sold. I happen to like pancakes too, and since they're pretty hard to royally screw up, why not. Two orders of pancakes, please. Wait...what? $6 TOTAL? Ok... As we sat at the one table (it is primarily a take-out joint), the kiddo noticed the vintage arcade machines. Galaga and Ms. Pacman. After I explained to her that when I was her age, we didn't have Wii, and if we wanted to play a video game, it cost a quarter, and we had to use those machines, she wanted to try it. Some construction-worker-looking-types were also there waiting for their called-in order, and saw my little blonde munchkin walking toward Galaga. Apparently one of them had been quite the Galaga player back in the day, and started pumping quarters into the machine, teaching her the secrets of the game. She was enthralled. And then our food arrived. Those pancakes were HUGE! And GOOD! Kiddo and I both polished off every last crumb. I gotta say, any time I have reason to go back to radial tire for anything, I know where I'll be going when I get the munchies.

So I went to visit Brookview Eatery on my lunch break today and it was a treat. Welcome back to 1985! It was like Back to the Future... Per the owner they have been in business 28 years and I don't think anything has changed in 28 years. They actually had my favorite video game Galaga and also Ms. Pacman. Wow that was a treat! I actually got high score on Galaga on my first quarter so check out to see if my initials are still there. Hopefully they don't unplug it every week to reset the scores. The shop is very hidden from the street and I did drive by it once looking for it from the Yelp address. Prices are reasonable if you are looking for a quick lunch meal. I would give the food 4 stars and the retro atmosphere 5 stars. Go check them out for a trip back to the late 1980's. They do take debit card for the tech-savy. :)

A really nice small sandwich shop. Jay, the owner is super nice, the food is good and the price is right. It is mainly a carry out, buy we have sat down and enjoyed our lunch on the premises. Nice luncheonette!

The owner and his wife are just the best! They're always there bright and early, greeting each customer with a smile and a kind word. Whether you're getting a regular breakfast sandwich, a cold cut sub, or something a little out of the ordinary, Jay is always happy to oblige. There is minimal seating, though this suits the clientele within this industrial area...Not to mention they've got Galaga in the storefront for all you retro arcade game lovers!

Was in the area and needed some lunch, checked out Yelp and this place was given 5 stars (granted by only two reviewers) so I decided to give it a try. Brookville Eatery is very typical of a sandwich shop located in or near an industrial complex. Probably just serving breakfast and lunch. Janelle did a good job describing the premises. The arcade games are still there and made me smile. Lunch special was sub, fries, and fountain soda for $8 incl tax. Opted for the cheese steak as Andrew opined it was the best in town. I have not eaten a cheese steak in Silver Spring but pity for the community if this was the best to be had. It was not bad but I have had better. Heck, even Subway's cheese steak (eek) was better. But hey, steak, onions, mayo, hots (ordered everything but did not come with lettuce or tomato?) on a toasted roll...Not bad. The sandwich was not seasoned and needed salt and pepper. The fries, thick cut steak fries, were not seasoned and needed salt and pepper. The fountain soda tasted off to the point of it not being drinkable.

Years ago, I was never a big fan of sandwiches. But when I first ate at the Brookville Eatery I never looked back. Their steak and cheese is arguably the best steak and cheese in town. Their golden french fries always are fresh and their onion rings are great. This little eatery proves big things comes in small packages.
