A nice coffee/snacks bistro in Salisbury. The coffee runs from tasty mild to crack/cocaine strong (not real drugs! Pullleeeeese....). Muffins, scones and panini were tasty and the seating was comfy. I could hang out and not go to work all morning! Again, these are the little home made gems that makes yelping worth my while.

I really used to love this place. However, I have noticed a strong decline in the last few months. Viva Espresso provided a great locally owned alternative than places such as Panera Bread to have a good sandwich, great coffee and a relaxing atmosphere to either work, study, or have meetings. Here are my major grips: 1. During my last visit, I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee. 15 minutes later, I was wondering where my breakfast sandwich was and asked one of the staff members. They asked what I ordered and after I told them, they JUST started making it. No apology or anything. Sorry but for breakfast, people need to get stuff to eat quickly and GO. 2. The big screen in the room has a vertical static line going through it which is very distracting. Obviously something broken on the TV. It has been this way for MONTHS. Sorry, but that needs to be replaced. 3. What's up with the music at this place? Every time I go there, classic rock and older progressive music is playing. As much as I do like some of those genres, at a coffee shop I want to be calm and tune out distractions. Not have a 7-minute jam-band wank fest guitar solo annoying me! The sandwiches are great depending on what you get. I MAY return again if I'm in the mood but personally at this point would go somewhere else, especially if needing to work on things.

This review is for the one off of route 50 in Salisbury, not the one by Salisbury university. The food was pretty good, but the one star off was because my husband and I were the only ones there and the food too like 25 minutes to make and we didn't get anything very complicated. The staff was moving at a snails pace. I prefer the one over by Salisbury university which I went to frequently when I had long breaks at class when I went to grad school.

EVERY. SINGLE. BREAD. IS. VEGAN. :D While they DO serve non vegan things like meat and dairy, every drink can be veganized, and the mozzarella and portabella sandwich, you can veganize it by telling them No cheese and with Hummus. You will LOVE it, trust me.

Love this place--great service, coffee, quick bites for lunch, and smoothies. I prefer it over Starbucks because the menu includes more options. Edited - if you do a large order with them, they tend to make mistakes. We order lunch as a group and I would say that more times than not, something is wrong with the order, even when it's read back. It's honestly disappointing to not receive what you ordered and are not in the store to have it fixed.

Viva is a quaint little addition to the college town of Salisbury. Definitely a nice hang out when you just wanna sit back and chill. I've been to this coffee shop on multiple occasions to see a friend of mine perform. This place boasts a perfect coffeehouse atmosphere. To top it off, the sandwiches are very delicious! Their coffee is even pretty good as well; I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but when the mood strikes this is definitely one of my favorite hot spots. They even offer different types of tea's for those who are so inclined. I've also found from time to time this is a pretty decent place to study when I'm sick and tired of being in my room! The staff is always friendly and courteous, and always quick with a kind word and a smile. The artistic design and the bookshelves add a nice little flair. There's always relaxing soul soothing music playing in the background that will wash over you and soothe the savage beast within. Overall I would highly recommend this coffeehouse, and think everybody should check it out at least once; especially if they have live music playing.

Love the lattes. They roast their own beans, which is the way a coffee house should be. The staff is very nice and helpful. The prices are very reasonable. Food is very fresh and delicious. I have been there twice in one week, and I think it is my new favorite.

Stopped into Viva Espresso for the first time. My Iced Latte was absolutely delicious. It was nice sitting inside enjoying my drink. It really has a neat, cozy coffeehouse feel and there are books along a wall to read if so desired. I sat in an upholstered chair sipping my concoction. I will def. come back and recommend it to others I know.

I had a really great sandwich here a few months back. Can't recall exactly what I got, but it was a panini style and very tasty. Probably my favorite part about the visit was the very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere and comfortable furniture. I could definitely spend some time in there working on my laptop. probably would have given it a 5 but its a bit pricey for Salisbury.
(4)Tammy V.
I had lunch today at Viva. I love the cozy atmosphere. The service is excellent. I love their coffee. I had the Brie/chutney/Bacon sandwich..sans bacon and it was excellent. It was served with yogurt and blueberries.
(5)Mark C.
All of the indifference and attitude of Starbucks, with a slightly lower price. The staff sucks, the coffee is mediocre, however the cake is tasty and that might be it's only redeeming quality.
(1)Ashley T.
The best Cream of Crab soup in Salisbury. Always willing to reconstruct their sandwiches for us for my son who is Celiac and can't have the bread. Love them!
(5)Amy R.
Decent coffee. A little expensive. The service has been hit or miss: some of the cashiers have been sweet while others have seemed annoyed. Its a cute little cozy place. I've only eaten here once and it was, again, okay but a little pricey.
(3)Nat N.
Search for "breakfast and brunch" because I loveee breakfast and/or brunch! :) ordered a crepe, mix fruits (banana, strawberry) and nutella (yum!). I can say they are pretty generous with the nutella, probably a big chunk of spoonful into it, instead of just spreading them. Pretty cozy, friendly staffs, there is outdoor sitting but probably the only view you got is lots of traffic going through. Definitely I like Pemberton Coffeehouse view better! But mocha coffee latte was good, crepes was delicious n only cost me 3 bucks. Oh music wise, they plays 70's 80's which there's nothing wrong with the music in that era but in pemberton coffeehouse, they plays more recent pop music (which i love! :p)
(4)Heather M.
I went here today for a coffee before work. Inside the place is very cozy and the prices are really good. It was only my second time here but as soon as I walked in the one girl remembered my order. I recently broke my ankle and use crutches to get around. I've been doing pretty good but when I walked out to my car I lost my grip of my coffee and it spilt everywhere. I went in to buy another one but the one girl just asked me if I was okay and then just made me another at no charge. She even walked it out to my truck for me in the rain. Kindness is not always easy to come by but it was found today in the staff at viva. To the one girl behind the counter, i wish I knew your name to tell you that I can't thank you enough for your sweetness. It made my day just a little brighter!

I love this place! I'm addicted to their Chai! Best ever!
(4)Kris P.
I really love this place. It's the only cafe in Salisbury that has a cozy decor, and great cappuccinos/lattes. I live in another state, and when I come into town, I always bring my family & friends here for coffee. I will agree that the bakery is not that great, but the food is decent and staff is very friendly.
(4)Megan B.
They have great coffee, smoothies, and tea. Also great breakfast and lunch selections. My favorite is the power punch flatbread.
(5)Anthony P.
Their sandwich variety and options are fairly limited. Having said that not many people go to coffee shops to rave about the food. I personally enjoy their rather quiet, personal atmosphere for doing work in an environment where I can just get away from my home. Due to its proximity to Salisbury University there is a large number of students who frequent this location, so if you're looking for a less crowded option there is another location closer to Wor-Wic Community College. Overall, a great place to get a cup (or three) of coffee.

I stumbled into Viva Espresso somewhat by accident, but I am glad I found it. While in Salisbury over Christmas, Hubs and I ventured over to Eastern Shore Drive so he could get a haircut. Rather than waiting in the car, I found the coffee shop next door and ventured over. Upon entering, you'll notice just how warm and cozy it is. There is a faux fireplace in the corner, lots of comfy seating, and plenty of tables if you just want to gaze out the window (although there's not a lot of people walking along College Ave) or work on your laptop. There is also free wireless available. It's not the fastest or strongest wireless there is, but it is free and for just browsing the web (or Yelp?), you can't really complain. So here's what's awesome about Viva Espresso - it's locally owned and operated and doesn't conform to the big coffee corporation that is Starbucks. Will you find all the menu items that Starbucks offers? Nope. But will you have a great cup of coffee and/or a sandwich? Yep. Viva Espresso also offers a variety of handmade sandwiches and although I wasn't hungry, a few other patrons had some and they looked delicious. On to the good stuff, the house espresso used in lattes actually has a touch of cinnamon in it. Say what? For me, as a huge fan of cinnamon dolce lattes, I felt as if I just rediscovered the new world. I wasn't sure if the beans were roasted and ground with cinnamon, but I honestly didn't care. I had a simple latte made with nonfat milk. The cinnamon wasn't totally overbearing, but it was just enough to be delicious. Paired with some Splenda, it was quite good. I sat on the couch and browsed the web on my iPad while my drink cooled and I was happy as could be! The service wasn't exactly lightning fast, but the service was pleasant and friendly (it also may be since I live in New England where everything is done lightning fast). But I waited in line for at most two or three minutes, so I wasn't overly concerned once the delicious coffee hit my lips. My only complaint was that voices carry in the establishment and I got stuck listening to a woman talk to her friend rather loudly all the details and play-by-play action of giving birth (you think I'm kidding, but I'm not) which subjected all the patrons having to listen. So be careful, keep your voice low, and you'll be fine. Loved the coffee, love the establishment and I most certainly will be back.
(5)Sandy P.
This is for the Kmart location. California chicken sandwich: bacon was barely cooked & the sandwich had no taste at all. What a waste of $10 for lunch ( the iced tea was fine). Definitely won't go back.
(1)Alexis P.
The coffee frappe was just average. It had a weird consistency for my liking. Next time I would get it to be mocha. However, overall the experience and atmosphere was lovely and my cheese and sausage bagel was okay
(3)Leslie Y.
If you are looking for a nice place to have a coffee and a dessert, this is not your place. Coffee is decent (perhaps only real cappuccino in town) but the pastry is terrible and has been for years. Their scones, for example are incredibly dry and without any taste whatsoever. ...it's a shame.
(2)Michael S.
Gotta love this place. It is relaxing, quiet and has a great atmosphere. I enjoy starting work here with a crepe and a Hot Cocoa. It has free WiFi and is a great place to meet for a short meeting or just to meet with a friend to catch up. The food is great (although i have only tried the breakfast).
(4)Susie J.
For what Salisbury offers, I'd say go. But if you're looking for real, delicious, caffeine infused drinks of any variety from the bean- I'd say "meh." Atmosphere is cozy. Service is hit or miss. Furniture shows some wear and tear- and not the shabby chic kind. Again, for what the area offers, I'd come again & will ungrudgingly go at someone's request. In fact, I would probably rate Viva average in comparison to the other coffee setups in the neighborhood. But, for Yelp, I offer unadulterated, honest reviews of what I love. & I'm just not digging the drinks here.

Viva Espresso is awesome. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. It does get crowded during lunch so if you want to eat-in, come off-peak. Their coffees are always great, and lattes are strong. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are delicious too. Try the quiche or California chicken sandwich. Service is friendly and fast. The owners are always working which shows their dedication to their customers.
