Definitely the best Chinese in town (and aside from Megan's Noodle House perhaps the only one worth dining in). Relatively quick service (though I've run into a couple of dunderhead waiters over the years), higher prices than the cheaper, dirtier Hunan Delights that litter the town. Try the Crispy Beef/Chicken. Can't be found anywhere else in town.

My girl and I come here for the bean curd and vegetables, which she enjoys. Good hot tea, and their fried cheesecake is pretty good, as well. Not a fan of the vegetable fried rice, however. Service has been fairly attentive and fast when we go. They have an extensive sushi menu, if that's your thing - I haven't tried it yet!

The best Chinese in Salisbury. The menu is huge, the service is fast and usually good, and the food is delicious. Their sushi is also, in my opinion, the best in Salisbury. The entrees are almost always delicious, but they do vary slightly depending on the chef. Their wonton soup, sweet and sour soup, and miso soups are all fantastic. My favorite dish there is double cooked pork, but I've tried just about everything on the menu at some point over the years, and enjoyed most of it. The sushi is fresh, tasty, and interesting. They have a wide variety of rolls. You can sit at the sushi bar or have it brought to your table with your order.

We ate here on a Sunday evening. After stopping at Ruby Tuesday and standing in the lobby for several minutes without any attention or service from any of the numerous staff, we turned around and drove across the street to Hunan. There were one or two other families there and it was a nice quiet spot for husband and I to relax. Our waiter was a rather soft spoken young man who didn't say much other than "yes...no...you're welcome...you guys..," and "I'm sorry." In fact he repeatedly apologized when we made requests for water, an extra to-go box, etc, when he hadn't done anything wrong at all. I thought he was doing a fine job considering he appeared to be the only waiter in the house. I only wish he would have spoken up a bit. The decor at Hunan is a variety of booths and tables fenced in by the typical brass bar decked half-walls that seem to be popular among Chinese-Restaurant owners. My husband remarked that the framed waterfall mural on one wall was wrinkled badly and had a very obvious seam running down the middle. The menu is an extensive combination of American Chinese standards and sushi. Some of their sushi rolls sounded delicious, but my husband won't touch them so I abstained. He ordered the pepper steak and I ordered Dragon and Phoenix (shrimp with vegetables and sesame chicken). We started with a Pu pu platter for two, which contained ribs, crab wontons, egg rolls, beef stick, shrimp tempura and duck legs. The dug legs were wrapped in foil and difficult to unwrap. Mine was so greasy I gave up on it while husband said his was "fine." The beef sticks were tasty but a little tough. I did not try the ribs but husband said they were a lot of work for not much meat. The Egg roll was mostly cabbage and not very flavorful at all. The crab wontons contained a lot of cream cheese and not much crab and the wonton wrappers were a bit hard. The shrimp tempura was nicely crisp. We were a bit shocked when our meals came. They were HUGE, which was lucky since it meant we'd probably be getting a couple more dinners out of the leftovers. Husband was quite happy with his pepper steak, although he complained that the fried rice was dry and didn't have much flavor. Having never ordered Dragon and Phoenix before, I had assumed that the shrimp, vegetables and sesame chicken would be all mixed together. On the contrary, they were served side by side on a long rectangular plate, with each of the proteins in a different sauce, all garnished orange slices and a giant flower made of shaved ginger. The shrimp's sauce was a bit salty, but the vegetables were well cooked. The sesame chicken was DELICIOUS, sweet with a tangy citrus twist. I did note that they brought me white rice instead of the fried rice that I ordered, but it actually worked out fine as the nice sticky white rice ended up mixed in with my sesame sauce anyway. Husband decided that he wanted to try one of their desserts. They offer several flavors of ice cream (including green tea and red bean), fried ice cream, fried cheesecake, fried bananas, and fried bananas with ice cream. Husband went for the fried bananas. The fried bananas are large chunks of battered and fried banana, drizzled with chocolate sauce and surrounded by whipped cream. Oddly enough, they were set upon a bed of shredded lettuce. That one threw us both for a loop! The taste was so so. I've tasted this particular dessert done better at Tokyo Steakhouse. Our total cost was about $40 before the tip. The Pu pu platter was about the same price as our entrees. But they did give us a TON of food. We ended up leaving with five little Chinese takeout boxes. Overall a decent meal and dining experience. We will probably try them again with some friends who like sushi.

The food is good. Average asian cuisine but nothing too special. The flaming volcano is a whole lot of fun however

Okay, so that must have been a fluke. Since then food has always been good. Trust me- I love Chinese food and tried they others in the area and it doesn't compare. Not even close. That's another review, but suffice to say- this is the best place for Chinese in the whole Salisbury area. We order from Hunan Palace pretty regularly, and the food has always been really good! (surprising for Salisbury). Mostly delivery/take out. They are super fast when delivering, and the new online ordering system is great. You can specialize your order to your hearts content, which is great because I order like Sally in 'When Harry met Sally'. Caveat though- I like to call after I order online to make sure they received the order and to remind them about any special instructions I asked for... Because sometimes, I guess the kitchen doesn't always read the order correctly, and my order comes out wrong. But when that does happen, I call them back and they make it right- which is AWESOME SAUCE CUSTOMER SERVICE! So in closing: 1- Food is great, seasoned well. 2- Pretty good with delivery and special instructions. 3- Portions are generous and the price is very reasonable- Especially for Lunch! They have great lunch combos for a really good deal.

Came here because we got a coupon for buy one get one half off sushirittos. They weren't quite what we expected. They weren't much bigger than a regular sushi roll and it was weird to bite through a big wrapper of seaweed. Wouldn't get it again but the restaurant is nice

I have not been back to Salisbury for almost three years and decided it would be nice to stop by on my way to Ocean City. There were some changes to the exterior but the interior was completely different from my memory. Everything received an upgrade and the restaurant looked modern and definitely a place where I would go to on a date. The bar side was the same, nothing too special. I ordered to go and had the chance to check out the Japanese hibachi next door that opened recently. The restaurant overall does not fit in with Salisbury. Very modern and "fancy" per say. From marble decors to one of those lacquered wooden table sets you see in China where people sit and drink tea. I ordered beef lo mein, which had all the right ingredients but the cook most definitely did not use salt at all. Good for my health but not my taste buds. Overall, the dish was bland. I also ordered a TNT sushi roll, which consisted of raw scallops inside and a layer of some cream cheese mixture on top baked until golden. At least that is how I remembered it. The cheese looked like it was dumped on each piece and unbaked. But the delicious taste was there so I won't scrutinize it further. My friends ordered the chicken fried rice, salmon roll, tuna roll, and California roll. I did not try any of them but they looked delicious. I would come back because of the people and the good memories. But I have been spoiled by sushi and Chinese places in the DMV and New York area that I would not come back for the food.

The place looks nice and ratings are good but I Had the Singapore noodles it didn't really have flavor. Highly disappointed

Back in Salisbury, and looking for anything pacific rim. But it was late, and few places other than carry outs were open. I had been to Hunan Palace a few weeks back and was disappointed the shrimp were not deveined. With few options other than chain restaurants, I decided to give it a second chance. I'm glad I did. They had a special appetizer that night - Shrimp Shumi . I ordered that and Singapore rice noodles. I was surprised the shumi were fried instead of steamed as most places do, but with the eel sauce on the top, it worked, and was delicious. The Singapore rice noodles were some of the best I've ever had. Tender, perfectly cooked rice noodles with just the right amount of curry. And the smaller shrimp were deveined. Much improvement.

Hunan has been a longstanding establishment for many years and for good reason...excellent cuisine. I've been a patron for more than 20yrs. and have eaten there weekly for at least the last 5 having never been disappointed. Great food.

I didn't like this place. I am not racist, but it's all white people working there and I am not sure how much they know on making authentic Chinese. They seem to fry the rice and all in bacon grease, or something. The Pork fried rice tasted weird. It's hard to find good Chinese down here, and this place wasn't it. The service is also slow, since it is also a bar. I wasn't impressed.

I've eaten here several times as it is a favorite with extended family and now with me. The food is pretty consistently good, especially the Chinese dishes. The one exception for me is the Mongolian beef because they make it with regular onions instead of scallions and serve it over rice instead of the puffy rice noodles, and the sauce is nondescript, not the bright/rich hoisin-based sauce the dish should have. Still, I wouldn't go anywhere else for Chinese, and I even ordered on-line delivery tonight and everything is sensational and will keep me going for at least 3 days. My favorites are the spring rolls, made with rice wrappers and stuffed with shrimp, the Singapore noodles, and the barbeque pork ribs. The shrimp fried rice I tried for the first time tonight was hard to stop eating even though I was already full. Being gluten intolerant, I have to be careful with Chinese because most things have soy sauce, but it is possible to put together a good safe meal for me. YMMV if you are feeding someone who has severe celiac because I find I can tolerate trace amounts of gluten.

Maybe I am not the best judge of sushi but I have loved it every time we go there. My 15y.o. won't go anyplace else for Chinese. I usually do a 3 roll combo with 1 being shrimp tempura for her and the other 2 I try something more adventurous. A couple orders of spring rolls and chicken lo mein and enough goes home with us for lunch the next day. I don't know who's the best but I know who our favorite is.

Decided to give this place a try after our friends highly recommended it. This was one of the worst Chinese food places we've eaten at yet. It might as well have been a crappy take out place. The Orange & Sesame chicken are the same meal minus sesame seeds. The egg roll tasted fishy. We also got a sushi roll the was not meant to be warm but it was. Safe to say we won't be returning for the food but the bar looks like a cool place to hang out at.

The best and freshest sushi in Salisbury. I've had sushi in several cities-New Orleans, New York, Baltimore, and I've still yet to find sushi as good as Hunan's.

The waitresses were very sweet. The food was typical New York-style Chinese food - nothing really stood out flavorwise, but the food was plentiful and hot, even for a party of 9. I'd come back again.

In the likes of the Eastern Shore, especially Salisbury, you would expect a limited amount of quality ethnic food, but Hunan Palace reminded me that even in the boonies, there's a solace of affordable un-hole-in-the-wall Chinese food. Being a pescetarian, I had the Mapo Tofu (with the fried tofu, because I'm not THAT health-conscious) and was presented with double portion (the same price and maybe alittle cheaper) what I would expect from a hole-in-the-wall carry-out Chinese place in Georgetown, DC. The portion overwhelming and the taste a mediocre "okay." I also picked the Dynamite roll (a spicy tuna, salmon, yellow tail roll w/ asparagus and a spicy aioli sauce) and it was pretty good for a Chinese place. The combination of fish did not smell "fishy." Though they could've gone without the overdone portion of tempura flakes that completely covered the roll and then some. Something to hide, HP? Even so, I enjoyed the meal (company much better) and didn't end up with acute gastroenteritis when I "experiment" on new Chinese joints. Kudos to HP for keeping my stomach gratified and in-check. I wouldn't mind going back if I had to. Might even just try only the sushi next time..

Excellent rolls and sushi. Quick take out and love the lunch time delivery to our company on the north side of town.

I've been going here for sushi for years, I can't recommend this place enough. The fish always tastes so fresh and rolls are crafted perfectly. They have a lot of delicious rolls but my favorites are rainbow and Alaskan. A recent renovation updated the dining room so it feels more modern and it's always been a nice family atmosphere.

This restaurant has great Chinese food, they also just renovated and it looks great on the inside. It's nice too cause the bar is separated from the restaurant, which allows for either a nice personal dining experience on the restaurant side or a fun lively atmosphere on the bar side! The drinks are great bartenders and servers are friendly, and they have a pool table along with other games on the bar side of the establishment.. Definitely a restaurant worth dining at!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
