Oh my goodnesss! I wish I could just get locked up in here and eat my way out of cake! I LOVE SMITH ISLAND CAKES! They're so damn good!!!! One cake serves prolly 15 people so I usually order one for a party or whatever. Now that I think of it, I think I want to order one just for being Monday tomorrow! LOL!

I have ordered many cakes from Classic Cakes and they are always very good quality. The staff has always been happy to answer any questions that I have. I enjoy walking in and seeing everyone working hard to produce a great product. Very reasonably priced as well.

Let me start by saying, I am not usually a cake person. I've had professional bakery cakes, homemade, ice cream, grocery store bought, you name it...but this was my first experience with a Smith Island cake. I got the basic cake with chocolate frosting for my son's first birthday. Everyone at the party raved over it. Usually leftover birthday cake sits in the fridge a few days then gets tossed...but I had a piece after the party...a piece the next day. I am down to my last 2 slices and already planning the next occasion I need a cake for! I can't wait to try some of the other flavors, they sound amazing. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. I called in my order during the week and quickly and easily picked up on Saturday morning. They even offered to write a message on the cake, which was more than I expected! I will be getting all my cakes here from now on!

(9/24/2015) Had a going away party and some coworkers happened to be in Salisbury the day before. Got a Smith Island for our non-Maryland celebree. She was enthralled. We thought this one was very prettily made, consistent thickness of the layers, very flat, even coloring. If I had to say, I would guess these layers were baked as a sheet and stamped out rather than the traditionally individually-baked layers. We found the yellow cake to be rather dry overall. The thin fudge icing was sufficiently chocolately and not too thick. We appreciated that it was not too sweet. Overall, an OK cake, but not life-changing. Either seek out the original company or bake your own if you have such options.

Having once owned a home in Tylerton, Smith Island, I've been enjoying Smith Island cakes much longer than most people and longer than Classic Cakes has been in business. The owners are from Smith Island and despite the fact that their business has grown, they have stayed true to their original recipe, one of the best, if not the best, I've ever had. Do not under any circumstances pass up on their cupcakes. They are also terrific and they have many different flavors. Red velvet is killer.

I'm so happy that this was my introduction to Smith Island cake because I just don't see how it could possibly get any better. I'm obsessed with trying regional foods and this has been on my list for many years. You can get slices of cake, whole cakes or individual cupcakes of different flavors to go, but walk-in service is obviously not the bulk of their business because the "shop" is pretty much a cash register and a couple of display cases right in the kitchen. The day that I was there, they were loading cake after cake into their delivery van, so they apparently do a good delivery/catering business.

Definitely the BEST Smith Island cakes!! We have been ordering cakes from Classic Cakes since before the Smith Island cake became the official cake of Maryland!! This place is somewhat hidden, but once you find it you walk in and see many workers creating all different kinds of Smith Island cakes. the place smells amazing, and besides taking your special order for a cake, even on the same day you want it sometimes...they also sell slices there as well. Very reasonable prices and friendly service!

This place is amazing and I am proud to have found it through my cousins and introduced it to my circle of friends, be careful though.... they will be disappointed if you show up without one next time. Smith Island Cakes are delicious... Google it. I'll wait here. Oh Hey, whats up... Yeah its the official cake of MD... I can't take all the credit for it no... I mean the people that ate the cake were in fact from MD yes.... but I am originally from NJ so it was a group effort. I am throwing this one in multiple lists that are close to Salisbury. If I can take the ferry from NJ to go and grab a cake from MD before Thanksgiving you can drive an hour off of the eastern shore to get one of these bad boys. "The Good" - It is amazing what butter flour and sugar can form when they are made with a little love. - Multi-layered, different flavors. My favorite is the classic yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The one with the peanut butter cups on top is out of this world as well. - Call and order your cake well in advance during the holiday rush... do not be that person... just don't. Do not walk in the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and act dumbfounded when there is only a Red Velvet and have the stupidity to complain that thats All they have?? I have seen it happen and its actually kinda funny... but just for my sake. Do not be that person. K? Thanks. "The Meh" - When you call, because I know you will listen to me when I suggest you call. Also ask for directions to where they are located. Do not trust the GPS and confirm which neighbors are in the strip center at any given time. Translation: Its a little funky to find. "The Bad" - The person that figures out how to deliver these nation-wide will be a thousandaire. until then local pick-up.

These folks make the best Smith Island cakes east of Smith Island! There is another bakery in the Ocean City area that makes them, but their cakes do not taste nearly as good. Classic Cakes makes wedding cakes and cakes for other occassions as well. They ship Smith Island cakes anywhere, and they have a local delivery service also. We chose not to order a wedding cake for our recent wedding, but decided to have Smith Island cakes instead. Much less expensive, and the guests LOVED them. I put a little handmade sign near the cakes explaining how they are Maryland's official state dessert. Classic Cakes helped us out by wrapping the cake trays for us as well. We had about 50 guests, and we ordered way too much cake. We bought 5, but we definitely could've gotten away with 3!

Amazing service and awesome product at a great price. I was in a pickle and they really helped out in an incredible way. I would recommend Classic Cakes to anyone on Delmarva. Delicious, as well.

we have been ordering cakes from here for years. however this year we realized the cake was 3 days old when we picked it up. I wonder how many times we ordered cakes days in advance only to be given something that has sat on the shelf for days.
