Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Awesome delivery pizza!! Everyone is super-friendly from the person on the phone to the delivery guy. And the pizza is delish!! The crust has texture and flavor, but it's delicate enough to let the toppings shine. As for the sauce, it's packed with tomatoes and garlic, without being too salty or sweet. A fabulous find. I'll be calling them often when I'm looking for easy dinner options.

Fries & Pizza Bianca: Fries were thick cut, hot and had a good crunch to them. The pizza was tasty (roasted garlic, mozzerella, provolone, parm cheese & oregano). I would liken it to the white cheese pizza at Jerrys but with more garlic and oregano flavor than cheese, despite all the cheese they do provide on this pizza. Staff: Even though it's a pizza joint and self-serve, the staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. Highlight of coming here: Sitting outside, enjoying the weather, and dessert at Carmen's right next door.

I ate at the Slice of Rockville just yesterday and it was very good. The place is quaint, the people are nice and the pizza is tasty. The only gripes I have are that the slices are small and the prices are high, which together makes for a less than good value. That being said, the pizza is better than Domino's or Papa John's so you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to pay a lot for small slices. I will go back because the Pizza is good, but not as often as I would like because the value is not what it should be for pizza, at least not in my opinion. But the Pizza is good!!!

As an 8 year Rockville local, Slice of Rockville is our goto Pizza place. They do a good job with the crust like others have mentioned and the toppings are always fresh. The Monday deal for but a large & get one for half price is a favorite of ours. Definitely worth a try for you wondering!
(4)Jennifer A.
Stopped in today for two slices and a coke. I would say this is very middle of the road pizza! Not a true NY slice but not bad! I think some other posters are overly harsh! It's quick, pretty filling, and then you can grab an Italian ice next door... If I'm in the neighborhood and want something fast but satisfying, I would drop in!
(3)April M.
I'm a local in the area but I don't think my review is skewed! I always come for the 2 slices and a soda for $5.29 (with tax) no matter what the slide of the day is I always get the cheese because it's that good! The crust is great... Thin but with a bite so it's made for everyone. I haven't really tried the rest of the menu purely because I just love their slices and pizza so much. My one wish... Longer hours( which I know is easier said than done). Maybe on the weekends :/ Overall my go to!

It's not often I can eat a whole pie in one sitting. I'm a New York native and this is the closest thing to New York Style pizza around. Large Cheese Pie- very Good stuff.
(5)Janet H.
Very decent pizza. Nothing too special about it. The people inside are very nice but I wouldn't bring my friends back again.
(2)Jay B.
Pizza was decent but nowhere close to real NY style :( im about to give up hope, i understand why nyc has hundreds of good ny style pizza spots and we have none.

I work down the street from Slice of Rockville and my office has ordered pizza, subs, and fries from them several times a month since they have opened. The pizza is very good! It's a huge step up from the chain pizza joints. They have a real pizza oven and all my pizzas have been cooked perfectly (crispy crusts! fresh toppings!) The subs/sandwiches are great. I have switched my usual over the years from the Italian to the BLT to the cheese steak. All of them are very tasty. My favorite are the french fries! So crispy and delicious. Never undercooked and limp. Lately they have been putting old bay on them for me and they are soooo good. My only small complaint is the salads. They are on the smaller side with not many toppings. I'd happily order more salads if they would make larger portions. Finally the service is great!! Everyone that works there is very nice and they make a real effort to know their customers names and preferences.
(5)Jason C.
I'm gonna be truthful. This is the worst take-out pizza I've had in my life (hence the reason for the review). If I were to choose between this pizza or a microwavable pizza from the grocery, I would microwave and I wouldn't think twice. There's very little sauce that's spotted over the entire pie, which makes it extremely bland because it feels like you are eating dough and a thin layer of cheese. Also there are few toppings. I'm appalled to think there are people who are crazy enough to pay $$20 for this 16 inch pizza. It's absolutely ridiculous. However, I am thankful for two things. The first is that I got this free from a living social coupon. Second, this pizza joint is in a small shopping complex that I never knew existed. This shopping complex has an Italian Ice Shop and a Balkan sandwich shop that has 4.5* on yelp. I guess I'll have to hold out on the gratification for now.

Despite the mixed reviews, we stopped here on our journey from SC to NY. The place was nice to stop, right across from a baseball field so we got to enjoy the nice weather and stretch. The service was 5 star, so friendly! The pizza was yummy and inexpensive, all in all a cool place.
(4)Jana L.
I grew up in the neighborhood but have lived in NYC now for 20+ years. I really appreciate having a quality sandwich shop in the neighborhood when I come down for visits. And this IS a quality sandwich shop! Very friendly servers, low-key atmosphere, fresh delish food. Easy in & out lunch. Haven't tried the pizza (which seems to be the reason for some negative reviews here) because I admit to being an NYC pizza snob now. But I may try a slice on a Wednesday when they have their $1 deal. Come here for lunch for a sandwich -- good choices (usual & unusual), and it's a good deal (especially on a Tuesday!).
(4)Abegail A.
With mixed reviews, I was somewhat hesitant to try out Slice of Rockville. However, it was the first Wednesday of the month and I remember someone previously saying they had $1 slices of cheese pizza or the specialty pizza of the day (2 max/person). So, I figured why not. In addition to a slice of cheese and roasted tomato, I ordered 6 garlic parmesan wings. The pizza itself was just okay. I'm not sure I would call it NY pizza, though. Yes, the crust is thin, but it's not nearly as good as the NY pizza that I remember. The cheese on the pizza is super hot, so if you try to pull the slices apart right when they are brought to you, you end up pulling half of your cheese off. The roasted tomato pizza was eh. I thought it would be different than regular tomato slices roasted on top of your pizza. I preferred the cheese much more. I over heard a few customers asking for their slices to be cooked a little longer. Maybe that would have made them better. The wings were pretty good. They were crispy and had just enough garlic parmesan on them. They were pretty oily though. Service was pretty good. Sat outside and didn't expect them to bring my food out. They were also kind enough to throw my trash away, so I didn't have to end up going back inside. The parking lot is pretty huge, but it was packed at dinner time. If you still have some room for dessert, head two doors down to get some gelati/Italian ice.

Got lunch last weekend - 2 slices and soda. I asked for 2 toppings. The toppings were just thrown on top. While that's normal, usually the toppings get fully cooked. My onions were mostly raw and the peppers were still tough. There was way too much cheese. The crust was only barely crispy.
(2)Marcus B.
I decided to give this place a try. I gave it 1 star for the simple fact of being pizza. It has sauce, cheese and crust. This in my opinion was thee worst pizza I have ever had. It really reminds me of those Ellios frozen things kids have at birthday party's or maybe Cee Cee pizza quality. The sauce was watered down the crust tasted like toasted white bread. The cheese was a lesser quality to say the least. Waste of time and money...
(1)Dana Z.
I really thought the pizza was just ok. Maybe slightly better than pizza you find in NoVa (which consists of the rare gem like Valentinos but mostly Dominos and other chains) But mostly eh. I got their silce of the day which was supposedly bacon, but I didn't see any bacon on there - it may have well been a slice of cheese. But my brother loves this place and comes here all the time. So it can't be that bad. Maybe it's just my single experience. Which is why I'll grant it 3 stars instead of 2...
(3)Denise L.
3 stars because I've never been to the actual restaurant but if you're looking for a good salad in Rockville (long, hard and painful search) this is the place. ***salad alert*** Fresh lettuce, sliced grilled chicken breast, fresh veggies and cheese. And you can always order it your way. Ask for your dressing on the side and make it your own. So far one of the best and most dependable salads in Rockville. Reasonable prices, reasonable portions, they deliver quickly and the customer service is awesome. Enjoy!
(3)Jonathan C.
When I peeled off some of the melted cheese that got stuck to my paper plate, some paper came with it. I ate the paper and I couldn't tell the difference because the crust literally tastes like cardboard. Another reviewer said they would prefer frozen pizza to this. When I took my first bite, I realized EXACTLY what he meant. Kids at the counter are kind of...not service oriented. Or accurate. They tried to overcharge me $2.50. The fact that this place exists is proof our economy is OK.
(1)Jessica C.
Pizza is great! Their grilled chicken salad on the other hand.... not worth your money.
(3)Ronney B.
Best tasting local pizza. Always consistent. Staff is very friendly. Manager is very nice.
(5)Guillermo C.
I live close to this shop so it's hit or miss with them. There food is definitely good and has a lot of flavor and the staff is pretty friendly even there delivery driver is real nice. My only two things that is preventing me from making this a 5 star review is they sometimes skimp on the pizza topping. I have order extra what ever to get a good amount on the pizza. I also think they close a little early on the weekends. Other than that it's a great spot.
(5)Lance V.
The pizza is excellent. When my kids come back from college we always head to Slice. The subs, salads, fries - everything is good. The service is friendly.
(5)April S.
I briefly ran in to place my order and ran out on my way home. Upon entry I loved this small clean and cozy little food joint. I was greeted within seconds of entering the establishment (which is good - - we patrons love good customer service). I ordered the chicken cheesesteak and fries. The owner was behind the grill making pizzas and cooking my food. I was impressed with her multi-tasking. I got my order to go. My hoagie and fries were still piping hot and very good once I got home and settled. I prefer Congressional Deli's cheesesteak over Slice of Rockville. I will have to go back and try their pizza.
(4)Cat W.
Sweet and simple. They have pizza, sandwiches, and salad and all of it is done well. They don't have any gourmet or Neapolitan style pizza but if you just want some pizza to watch the game or relax, this is the place to go. I'm usually one for lots of toppings on pizzas, but even their cheese pizza is delectable and flavorful enough for me. They always have a slice of the day with one or two toppings for pretty cheap. They have meatball subs and philly cheesesteaks and tuna salad sandwiches and all of those are great too. But the best thing at Slice? SWEET POTATO FRIES!!!!! They come with a special house made dipping sauce which is amazing and they are cooked perfectly and come out piping hot and are just so great!!!! The food is very fast and it's a family run place so it's a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere (though small). Once I went and they were giving out free, freshly baked, hot and straight from the oven cookies. I love it!
(4)Jen B.
This is my favorite takeout pizza in Rockville. The crust is thin but still chewy and soft, the perfect consistency between the flaky shards of wood oven and the super puffy of a lame chain pizza. I love that they don't overdo it on the sauce, I always hate when my pizza has sauce build-up. I also love the amount of cheese they use, and that it gets crackly and toasty on top, which is the best. If you are looking for wood oven, try Pizza CS, and if you want Chicago style, try Armands. But for regular takeout pizza, I think this is pretty great.
(4)Kristina K.
I love pizza and 'Slice has, if a little on the small side, rather average, run-of-the-mill offerings at $2 per petite serving. The size-to-taste ratio is skewed and is not worth the trek out there with the exception of first Wednesdays each month when SOR offers $1 slices. Bargains!
(3)Mocohen m.
We love the Verde! Slice of Rockville is a quality neighborhood pizza joint great for delivery and carry out.
(4)Seth P.
We really wanted to like this locally owned neighborhood place, but the pizza is just bland. Not bad, but very unremarkable. We tried the Verde and a cheese for the kids. Gonna go with Giuseppi's from now on. Perhaps will try a sandwich at some point...
(2)Barry S.
Only tried the pizza. Great crust but no flavor to the sauce. I'm intrigued to try the subs ... but on pizza lone probably wouldn't go back.
(2)edna j.
the pizza may be great here-we don't know because we never got our pizza. We bought a groupon and were looking forward to checking it out. After the first 30 minutes we reminded them that we had ordered a pizza but they had clearly forgotten. They said the pizza was in the oven but another 30 minutes passed and still not food The place seemed to be run by teenagers and they were not able to deal with a hectic Saturday evening. Got fed up after the hour and demanded our money back. Took it and left.
(1)Meg P.
My family loves the pizza here. I also love the steak & cheese sub (the Rockville) - its sinfully delicious. The owners & staff are wonderfully pleasant - service with a smile!
(4)Dave W.
It's passable, but far from NY style. Sauce is reasonable, cheese is totally wrong (parmesan is strong) and the crust isn't close (very thin out on the rim and not bubbled up at all, there's really no room for it to be).
(2)Vic M.
I'm a fan of their pizza. Great crust (thin and not to crispy and not too soft- perfect), cheese is good (but slightly too greasy on some days- but still good), sauce is good. This is my favorite pizza in the area and you can get a slice if that's all you want. I also like their salads. The caprese salad is a fresh chicken salad with basil, balls of mozzeralla, tomato slices all on romaine. I have to agree with the reviews. The owner is sometimes intimidating and it would be nicer if she were friendlier, but it is not a deal breaker because of their good pizza. The guy in the back is friendly enough. The price could be a bit better, but I guess it's the neighborhood or rent, etc. Oh, decor is a big improvement from what it was before, but still holds that casual vibe that I like. Too many pizza joints have questionable pizza. Not this place.
(4)Reggie N.
Had the pizza. VERY GOOD. Crispy and flavorful. Best around the Montgomery College area. A little scarce on the toppings...but a double pepperoni slice won't cost more than 2 bucks. Minor cons-- The slices aren't huge. You'll need 2 if you're hungry. I'm not a fan of the lunch specials...the prices aren't much better than the regular menu. Not very special. The people behind the counter always seem upset/grumpy. Smile people! Your place is great!
(5)Maryam E.
I love the SLICE. They have great food and friendly staff. My favorite are their PIZZAs. They are all awsome. The dough is thin and crispy, the chees is tastey . The lunch specials are great and cheap. They are also Patriots fans, at least someone on the staff is :)
(4)Matt C.
I stopped in for an early lunch to try this place out. There was no one in the restaurant and i could see in plain view a woman standing in the back chopping up some lettuce and talking on the phone at the same time with the phone on her shoulder. I figured she would see me eventually and she actually looked up at me and continued talking and chopping lettuce. After a few more minutes i could see that she wasn't going to help me so I waved and said thank you. Again she looked up and kept talking on the phone and chopping salad. I guess she didn't care about a new customer.

Dine in with my wife today, horrible experience that I needed to register and review. Pizza was overpriced (medium with 3 toppings runs over $16 when u can get a large 3 topping at pizza hut for $10). They forgot our Greek salad. I had to kill 3 flies that were incessantly buzzing us. The mom behind the counter was shouting and fighting with her sons the whole time we were there. She had serious attitude with us not once breaking a smile or asking how things were. Towards 8pm she was THROWING spoons and serving utensils into a metal container making all this sound. She also would wash dishes, then take out the trash, break down boxes and then prep pizza dough and pizza without washing her hands. I had good hopes for this, I wish they would rework their style and incorporate some customer oriented skills. It may help to create a good pricing scheme compared to others (like mama Lucia) in the area.
(1)Peter H.
Got a livingsocial special and went there 1st time to give it a try. Got the pizza for carryout. The pizza was ok, nothing special compared to generic pizza shops like Papa Johns or Pizza Hut. For a regular large specialty pizza is $18 which is a bit too much. I could've gotten a better pizza and deal at generic pizza places. I don't think I'll go back even though I'd like to support local business.
(2)Melissa G.
Dude. Come on. I'm from NY. This isn't NY pizza. It's okay. If it wasn't the closest pizza place to my house, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. That being said, I have ordered a few times mostly out of convenience. It's decent, and an okay-ish price ($15 with tax for a large plain pie). But yeah, this is a convenience purchase more than anything. The place is run by teenagers and they're nice/professional for teenagers.
(3)Pete D.
Let's just say keeping it simple, that's what this place is about. Nothing fancy, matter of fact this place seats 15 people, 5 tables, 3 chairs each, simple math. An easy to follow menu, not just pies, but also some interesting sandwiches too. We stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon, as I was craving some pizza. The place was dead, only the person at the counter and I assume the owner and cook in the back. Initially I wanted two slices of pepperoni, but the wife said let's just get a medium pie for $9.99. Fine, we got half cheese and the other pepperoni. After about 10 minutes, the pie was delivered to our table, fresh and looking good. The slices aren't too big nor are they too small, just right I guess. The initial glance was a NY style, thin crust type. My first bite into the cheese slice was good, nothing special, again, just simple. A nice hit of oregano in the sauce and a decent amount of cheese. The crust to me stood out the most. Nice and crunchy, but also chewy, just the kind I desire. During the day, they have some lunch specials too, which are fairly priced. I also noticed they have on the counter "Topping of the Day," which was bacon the day we went. If you want to get away from the chains, Pizza Hut, Dominos, or Papa John's, give this place a try. It's tucked away, like really tucked away if you don't know the area too well, so Google it. We'll be back to try the sandwiches next time.
(3)Dan H.
Great to have then in the neighborhood. Cheap eats severed by really nice people, Don't over look the sandwiches classics and some neat stuff too.
(5)Paula S.
I'm very pleased with this local non-chain pizza place. The pizza is REALLY good. I wish they had more veggie options in the sandwich menu...and maybe more lo-cal options.
(4)ashia m.
Great authentic NY style sauce, oregano, sweet, savory yum. the crust leaves something to be desired im thinking maybe they need some cornmeal on the pizza block or just to keep it in the over a bit longer. it just wasnt crispy. so i went again and ordered it crispy. It was a busy day but i didnt get it crispy at all. i wanted to tell them since their menu lets the customer know "if you love it please tell your friends, if not, please tell us" but the website was down so im posting here instead... the staff, including the woman (owner) in the back all seem unfriendly or confused. maybe that makes it more authentically NY? Young kids at the counter were pleasant but clearly new to customer service. Im going to give the benefit of the doubt since it was a madhouse this weekend and pizza was $1/slice. Im hoping they do well. I will go back and check out the sandwiches. Hoping they also bring in some garlic knots and zepollis or calzones and then i'm set for good local pizza.
(4)Karen H.
My family loves this place. We usually have our orders delivered and the delivery drivers are prompt, friendly, and professional. The food is great. Their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is the Rockville.
(5)Elizabeth M.
This place is great for a quick, weeknight, carry out dinner. The crust is AMAZING, the sauce and cheese are perfect. Their Blanca pizza is one of the best white pizzas I have ever tasted. I give Slice of Rockville a 4 out of 5 starts because they are a bit stingy on the toppings. Give Slice of Rockville a chance and you won't regret it!
(4)Mary E.
They make a really good cheese pizza in the classic American style. The decor seems kid-friendly, too. They deliver quickly, also, with regular specials.
(4)Hubert K.
"A good, NY-style thin-crust pizza in an off-the-beaten path location. Reasonable prices, but lady at the counter was a little confused when I asked how the pizza is - she was not very convincing!" So I was enjoying a "Gelati" from Carmen's Italian Ice when my friend looks up and says there's a new pizza place that just opened up... and sure enough, we look and there's a new pizza place called "A Slice of Rockville" right there! So I step up to the counter and ask what their pizza is like? I'm thinking, NY style, Chicago style, DOC (like Two Amy's?). And the lady says, "It's good." Wow, she must have taken a lot of time thinking about her pizza to open a new pizza joint in the middle of nowhere... I mean really, this place is off the beaten path, unless you attend MC or live in the neighborhood. So I ask again, is it thin crust, thick crust, homemade sauce, etc, etc? She just looks at me with a blank look, perhaps irritated that a customer would question the quality of their pizza, and replies that it's "pretty good, you'll see." It's 4pm on a Tues afternoon, no one is in the store, and all I'm looking for is a little friendly chit-chat about why I should like their pizza. Is that too much to ask? So I order a slice of cheese and, like the lady says, it's actually pretty good! A thin crust pizza, flecks of oregano in the sauce that you can see through the cheese, and a very crispy crust. $2 / slice, $10 / med, $14 for a large (or so) for cheese pizzas. They may hand make their sauce, it may be hand-tossed, maybe they're hiding a brick oven in the back, or maybe it's DiGiorno's! I don't know, but the pizza is good and worth a try. At the end of the day, it's actually a very good pizza, I'd take it over Domino's or Papa John's. And a little employee training would go a long ways, too. If you're a "Pizza Shop," shouldn't the workers be able to at least explain that the pizza is good and why? Unless they're not interested in people who are really interested in finding a new, unique pizza? Will likely go back sometime to try a whole pie. Looks like it's designed for carry-out... they could seat maybe 20 max in there? Right next to Carmen's Italian Ice, which is next to Hard Times Cafe on Nelson off of Exit 6 on 270. You can see this shopping center from 270....
(3)Richard M.
You know what? Pretty darn good pizza. It's tough to get a decent NY style pizza around the Rockville/Potomac area but this place does the trick. I'm a fan
(4)Mary O.
I got excited when I saw a new place coming in after the less than appealing chicken place that used to be there next to Carmen's. WHAT A DELIGHT! Their pizza is AWESOME =) the crust is perfect, the sauce is delicious and the variety is nice. They have great sandwiches too if pizza isn't your thing. Service is always quick and the staff is upbeat and knows their clients well. SO refreashing to have a place like this - and very family-friendly! And the best part is if you want dessert Carmen's is only a hop and skip away! Keep up the good work :)
(5)Bill P.
Grabbed a pulled pork slice of pizza from them last night. Very thin NY style. Pretty good. Will go back and try a sandwich. Tucked away place. They need to promote cause only the Nelson St. neighborhood would know about them or like I see their sign from 270.....YES, when I should be watching the road more closely :)
