Potbelly's is like Subway, with an American flag on the wall and all the yellow colors changed to brown. It's also a little cheaper, and at this one in MD it lists all the nutritional facts on the menu for all us kids with dainty figures. The sandwiches though, are NOTHING like Subway. All I have to say is I got the Wreck with the spicy peppers that were JUST spicy enough and at around $5 bucks was so ...unexpectedly...delicious. Stop reading my review, look at the pictures and go eat.

Ah....I always have this dilemma when going to the Potbelly's in Rockville. PARKING SUX. Every potbelly I used to go in the burbs of Chicago had lot parking but this one doesn't...gotta find street or go to the pay lot. This has deterred me quite a bit from going here often...... Anyways...Potbelly's is Potbelly's. I think it ranks near the top of the fast food chains. I love their Oreo shakes and I like the Wreck w/ hot peppers (gotta put it in to make the subs taste good).

this place rocks. some of the best sandwiches around. blows the crappy ass subway away- it could put them out of business if they became a chain- just sayin! i get the wreck and load it with toppings. warning that their hot peppers are really hot so if you can't take the heat, tell them to go easy. delicious!!

When I just want a simple tasty sandwich or a hearty chili, you will find me at the Rockville PotBelly. If we are in the mood, we normally go during the weekends since the parking is only a dollar across the street. My comfort sandwich is the smoked ham w/no cheese on skinny wheat and a big pickle. I have tried all the meat versions but the smoked ham makes me happy. The Italian puts me to sleep hehe. Hubs frequently orders the Italian and the classic PB&J (his comfort delight). When first entering the line, pick the drink of your choice as well as the rich side dishes of coleslaw, macaroni salad and/or potato salad. After requesting your order, move over to the next section in line to request what you'd like to add to your sandwich (if applicable). Here you may request additional yummies like a whole pickle, banana, sweets, etc.. And in case you forget, several dessert/cookies are presented at the end of the line hehe. Ultra casual and offers outdoor seatings.

Decent selection of sandwiches. I would recommend A Wreck, Italian, Meatball, and Roast Beef. Shakes are also worth it. Only wish the sandwiches were bigger and not as oily. I ordered a wreck today with hot peppers, lettuce, and tomato and for whatever reason there was something still so oily it went through the wax paper. This has happened in the past to my other sandwiches too, so beware. Good sandwich for the price.

My shop eats here all the time. The last two times we have ate there they messed up the boss' sandwich. I had to call and talk to a manager. She kindly apologized for the mistake and asked how she could make it up to us. I explained I couldn't leave the shop again to go and pick anything up, so she came out to the shop and delivered the proper sandwich and 4 milkshakes thy were on the house. Very well managed location, they don't mess up too often and when they do, they make up for it. Great eats!

I'm a diehard Potbelly fan. I mean, sandwiches just don't get better than this (for ~$7). I HIGHLY recommend the tasty turkey BLT they're promoting right now.

Great value! The sandwiches will fill you up and I love that you customize your sandwich and it is so flavorful. Also, the shakes are great, especially the Oreo ones. There's a fun ambience and the staff is always friendly. I've been here countless times and will keep coming back!

I ordered the Farmhouse salad, and the salad comes without the grilled chicken. So, I'm wondering what's up. Their response is that since chicken wasn't specified, they didn't put any in. And after checking the receipt, I was told that "in consolation", they didn't charge for chicken, anyway. Can we all just take a minute to look at their menu? It clearly says, "Farmhouse: all-natural grilled chicken, hard-boiled egg, bacon, blue cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion". Um, what? Do I need to tell McDonalds that my Big Mac should include a beef patty? That my pho needs to come with broth? That my Rainbow roll needs to come with everything listed, not just the rice? Please. It wasn't even that big of a deal. Just ask me if I want chicken added in, charge me for the difference, and we could have easily moved on with your dignity in tact. But, nope. I can't even get back those 10 seconds of crock that was shoved into my ears.

This is a great stop for a quick sandwich provided you don't come during the weekday lunch rush. My skinny mushroom melt is always perfect, and the cute young RGIII lookalike employee is always smiling and pleasant.

Stopped for lunch Monday around noon- it was not too busy, about 8 people in line. Service was quick and courteous. Inside was clean and bright. We got four sandwiches; two mediterraneans with added avocado, (one on a flat- which is really just like a square tortilla), a chicken salad sandie, and a turkey sandie. All were lightly toasted. The Mediterranean on the flat was deeeeelicious. Four stars bc the turkey sandie was pretty blah.

If you feel like getting reliably good service and reliably good food, come here and get a sandwich. Especially refreshing when I don't feel like putting up with the jerky service next door. I suggest a thin cut wreck on wheat with everything except mayo and oil.

The sandwiches here do not live up to the hype. They skimp on the meat like a typical subway but charge more for some reason. In addition, the subs aren't even better than subway. Lastly, the sub rolls were dry and almost stale. No wonder they push "toasting" the bread as to cover up the poor roll quality. The last two times I went there, the sandwich preparer didn't ask me what condiments I wanted and stared at me blankly assuming I could telepathically hear them and knew which sandwich making step they were on. The cashiers are at least friendly and the food isn't totally disgusting. But with all the food choices available in the town center, I will avoid this potbelly sandwich shop.

I don't care if this is a chain, the quality of the food keeps me coming back again and again. Lot of sandwich, salad, and soup options available, and they always add a new sandwich every few months to keep things interesting. My fave is the chicken salad sandwich - thick juicy pieces of chicken and not too much mayo. I could eat it every day. The best part, though, is the options you get to add. Onions, hot peppers, italian seasoning, oil, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, mayo, lettuce, etc. Great stuff. If you get must of the add-ins, which I always do, they really pack it in. It'll fill you up. Plus, their cookies will make you forget this isn't a five-star bakery. The sugar and brownie cookie are big in size, soft and moist, and just about as good as any cookie I've gotten anywhere. The chilli, chicken noodle soup, and black bean soup are all really good, too, and they'll provide as many packets of crackers as you can handle, but you might have to ask! It's quick, it's cheap, it's tasty, and it's next door to a movie theater/across the street from the metro and starbucks. Great place, I'll be back.

Love the sandwices. The peppers are one-of-a-kind and my favorite part of the sandwich. Be careful though not to get both the peppers and additional oil added to your sandwich, unless you really like your sandwiches dripping with oil. The peppers already come with oil. I usually get the veggie sub with three cheeses and mushrooms. Also love their cookies and milkshakes. Like this restaurant far better than Subway as their food quality is far superior. The reason I gave this restaurant four stars was due to a customer service issue I had in the past with one of their employees. They made the wrong sandwich for me and when I came back to get it redone she made me wait in line for 15 minutes in order to remake my sandwich. She wasn't at all apologetic and acted like she was doing me a favor. I wrote to the store manager about this and he offered to give me a free sandwich in the future, which was decent of him.

I give Potbelly's five stars on the strength of their sugar cookies alone. I'm a huge fan of Snickerdoodle cookies and this one taste like a Snickerdoodle that fell from heaven. Beware this cookie is very sweet and you might have to chase it with milk or just eat half and save the other half for later. The shakes are very good. The sandwiches are pretty good. They have a decent selection of toppings which will make sandwich eaters happy. I make a point to drop into Potbelly's and get a cookie and/or shake any time I'm in the neighborhood.

mmmM the Wreck! I probably shouldn't be giving it a 5 star rating because it's just a sandwich... but oh well. I like it! Apparently the wreck is what all the guys get... Girls catch on to that trend... haha, the description for it just sounds so good! I posted a picture, it's just a regular size-- they have a bigger one. I highly recommend it! I've been getting it for years... No need to try the other ones when you've got a winner! The girls always get the turkey sandwich, I guess that's good too. And they have the Orange-Mango Nantucket Nectar drink I love so much! There's a nice set up inside, it's like a cozy set up with and old look type ambiance. There are like classic long neck coke bottles, old books and shelves, antique looking furniture, lamps at the booths. It's pretty nice for a sandwich shop. Sometimes they have a live musician playing.

HOT PEPPERS!!! I want everything I eat here to be covered in their HOT PEPPERS! I don't eat a lot of meat, specifically only seafood. I always get the exact same thing: Original tuna salad on wheat with no cheese. They offer lots of toppings like mayo, mustard, oil, peppers, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, seasoning. I get everything except mayo. and it's basically the most perfect and amazing sandwich I've ever had EVERY TIME. The prices can't be beat. My sandwich always comes out to less than $5! This location is good but the parking situation seriously sucks hard.
I love Potbelly sandwiches! They are the best chain sandwich restaurant in the area. Why? Cause they have the best vegetarian sandwiches! Option 1 - the Vegetarian. Mushrooms, cheese, and toppings of your choice on toasty bread (usually I get the wheat). The hot peppers are a good addition to this sandwich if you can take the heat and oil. Otherwise, it's pickle time. Option 2 - Mushroom Melt - see above; minus some bread. If you want to give yourselft a treat, the cookies are consistently yummy... but the shakes are superb! I particularly enjoy this location because they have plenty of outdoor patio seating. And sometimes they have a singer/guitarist playing during peak lunch hours which is nice. (I'd always heard that Potbelly's did this but never saw it). Plus, they have a good movie ticket deal - sandwich and a ticket for something like $12.

It was not until I moved away from Maryland (to an island where they don't have a Potbelly's!) that I learned to fully appreciate the goodness of what a delicious, hot sandwich can do for me. And at a reasonable price. I would go here with my friends and grab a booth, order sandwiches, sodas or a milkshake with the cookie on your straw and relax for over an hour while we would listen to the live band (or singer) play in the loft. The parking might suck (because you have to pay if you park in the lot, or find the minimal street parking available), but it's worth it. Pay for a stall, grab a bite to eat and catch a movie. It's a relaxing Sunday right there. The seating is nice and cozy, especially if you can grab a booth. And I find the sandwiches are just the right size.

My love affair with Potbelly Sandwich Works began in Chicago. I was more than ecstatic to find that they are also prevalent throughout the DC area. Their sandwiches are fantastic. In my opinion, the secret of their deliciousness is in the mustard (I always ask for extra) and the peppers (if you can't take too much spice, get them on the side). I also adore their sweets. The shakes and malts are wonderful. My personal favorite is the mocha oreo shake. I'm also addicted to oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. One of these days, I'll get around to trying the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich... One of the perks of this location (as I recently discovered) is that they offer $8 movie tickets for the theater next door with any purchase. That's a $2.50 discount for non-matinee shows, and in today's economy, every little bit helps. That said, my next dinner and a movie will be featuring Potbelly Rockville. :)

I used to hate sandwiches because i grew up eating sandwiches for lunch EVERYDAY... but subway had brought a slight interest back into it, but POTBELLY's WOW.... I really like this place, seems like they put the luvin back in my tummy :) Now, taht I found out they don't have it in what my co-worker calls the west (arguments about Wisconsin being in the east.....idiot) I miss this place even more!!!! :(

I guess I'm an odd combination of hungry and homesick, because I'm reviewing places I frequented in high school. Anyway, Potbelly's remains one of the highlights of those four years. I'd often smuggle a cream soda and a Wreck into the movie theater next door. And if you get a milkshake, they put a cookie on your straw. Little things like that make me grin.
(4)
Red F.
Reminds me of my highschool days, when I just got my car. It was very exciting for me to drive to the movie theater, get a sandwich from Potbelly's and sneak it into the theater. I love their ham sandwich, with tomato, mayo, italian seasoning and oil.

Great sandwich place! The Italian and the Wreck are the best!
(4)
Yolanda B.
The big advantage to this location is that its right next door to the movie theater, however, it closes too early. The best thing is obviously the sandwiches. "The Wreck" is their big meaty sandwich which is pretty tasty when you get it with everything (lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, salt, pepper, oil, italian seasoning). My favorite is the turkey and cheese on white, which is a simple sandwich but the sandwich is warm, not hot and oh so tasty. The portion is a pretty good amount and is probably one of my favorite sandwiches in the area. The big weakness here is the reason it only got 3 instead of 4 stars--the chili. Its not nearly spicy enough and when you ask for onions and cheese, they just put a slice of american cheese on top. Its not bad, its just not that special. I tried adding salt and pepper but nothing seemed to help. Shakes, however, so yummy. Creamy, milky, fatty goodness.

Place is okay but does get busy a lot. I always get the wreck and shakes which are always good.

Roc G.
Who really doesn't have a love affair with the Wreck. I do think the key is the right combo of hot peppers, pickles and oil and Italian spices. It's not a Italian beef sammy, but it is freakin good. When you realize that subway is dated you will be converted too.

Sandwiches. Great place to grab something quick to eat right before your movie at the Regal Theatre next door. All they serve are sandwiches and many types. I've only been here once so far butI saw their menu and was very curious about it. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was made just right to my specifications. Sometimes I think a 6 inch sized sandwich is a little for a lunch, but when made right, after you are finished, 6 inches is just right. Will frequent again when I have a chance.

Interesting rustic decor. Pretty good warm sandwiches. High prices for small portions. Great place if you love sandwiches. Unfortunately, I don't understand why people would go out for sandwiches when they could easily make it at home - sandwiches aren't as hard to make as entrees served at other restaurants.

Brian M.
Exactly what I was looking for in a sandwich! Even if you don't like one of the listed sandwiches, you can mix and match any combination to make your perfect meal. My turkey sandwich came out delicious (and hot since they toast it for you)! Also, super convenient to the Rockville Metro - less than a 5 minute walk right across the pedestrian bridge.

Potbelly sandwiches are the way to go... I went to three different Potbellys on my last long weekend in the DC area, because I, like another reviewer, am suffering Potbelly withdrawal out in San Francisco. Not sure how they do it, but everything at Potbelly's is fantastic - and the location by Regal in Rockville couldn't be better. (They are all over DC as well)

Because I'm from San Francisco, I consider myself to be a bit of a food snob. I admit it. However, we do NOT have a single Potbelly anywhere in my food snobby bay area, and it makes me sad! I always have to pick up one of these delicious sandwiches when I visit the D.C. area. My favorite is the wreck, and I always have to get a pickle with that. Who knew that a simple sandwich could be SOOO friggin good???

The best sandwiches I've had in the area! My fiancé and I have eaten at Potbelly's a few times at the most recent of which, we carried out sandwiches for my parents and brother, who were surprised at how well they held up when we got home and were just as tasty as if they'd eaten it in the shop.
