Chinese food for xmas. Sounds cliche but very delicious. Their shrimp items are specifically delicious. Their egg rolls are really really good too. We really enjoyed our takeout

Best fast Chinese food around. Very friendly family owned staff. We usually get the orange and Hunan chicken... The vegetables are fresh and the rice isn't the cheap kind, nice and sticky, very nicely scented rice. Highly recommended!

The worst Chinese Food I've ever tasted. Wasted money and calories on this nasty food. Tasteless and cold. I don't recommend anyone to buy from this place.

My family loves this place. My kids always order the orange chicken with noodles and they really love it. You can order online and the website is pretty organized. The lady usually taking orders is always smiling and nice although sometimes it is difficult to understand her accent.

We ordered by phone and requested delivery. The young man on the phone took my order (I mentioned fries to be added- but he didn't include it in our order). It's okay because we ordered plenty of food and boy was it delicious. We enjoyed the chicken lo mein, Kung pao chicken (could have been more spicier) which came with white rice. Then for appetizers we ordered a large hot sour soup (very good and perfect for my cold) and a basket of fried shrimp. The shrimp came with a tangy dipping sauce which complimented the shrimp nicely. This was plenty and we had left overs. The delivery took almost 50 minutes. We were told it would be about 30 min but we ordered on a Saturday night around 9:30 pm- so we expected our food to take longer than 30 minutes. Overall the food was well seasoned and the delivery man was nice to call when he was coming to the door. We will order again, and maybe stop by to dine in soon.

VERY RUDE Ordered 2 combo platters with fried rice. When we get it there was white rice so I called to see if they could fix the order and a lady answers the phone and is very rude and says they didn't see fried rice on the order so they gave me white and said they won't fix it and then hung up.

The best deal here is their large hot and sour soup ($4/great portion size!). The food is not bad and not great either, nothing to really talk about. They're bubble tea is sub-par, compared to Mr. K's Oriental Café, and overpriced. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and they will get your order out pretty fast. I also have a lot of respect for the owners since they're literally almost always open. Even during blizzard like conditions and major holidays, they have managed to stay in business for quite some time now so they're doing something right.

Staying at Homewood Suites I ordered delivery. To give you an idea of who I am, I have eaten seafood my whole life across the globe. I have never had anyone prepare and serve shrimp with the shell on in a breaded format, ever. The lady I called to voice my concern said that is the proper prep for salt and pepper shrimp. I have had shrimp served tail on, but to bread it with the whole shell on the full length of the shrimp? Beyond that, the pice is reasonable and delivery time was also reasonable. I recommend you state no green peppers and no onions as they seem to use them as a filler. Cost for dinner $25, w/hot and sour soup and 1 egg roll

One of the few non-fast food restaurants that are open late every night. Very well integrated with the internet, they take web orders as well as via phone. I enjoy the general tso's chicken. The dark meat chicken pieces are a uniform size, heavily battered and fried to a nice crispness. The sauce is thick with hints of fruit and spice and a complexity characteristic of General Tso's sauce (which is essentially a balance between salt, sweet, vinegar, and chili). The portion is huge, and the price is slightly cheaper than many of the other restaurants in the area. For a healthier option, I like their 'create your own dish.' You pick a protein, vegetable and sauce, and its about a dollar cheaper than the General Tso's chicken. Chicken, broccoli with the brown sauce is a solid healthy option. The tofu dishes, which my brother has had, is a very nice vegetarian option. This is a great no-frills place for very cost-effective takeout, and they're always friendly to me.

Food is pretty good, I think its basically what can be expected from a Chinese restaurant. But, the restaurant is super duper clean!! I buy the food just for the cleanliness. Also, they are really nice people, follow up on orders and never rude about anything at all. I would recommend for a Chinese food fix anytime.

I used to order from this place about 3-4 times a week. Whenever I had company I would insist we order from this place because the food is decent, fast, cheap and close to my home. However, recently I went to the restaurant in person, placed my order and asked them to deliver my order. The rude lady at the register told me the driver is busy and that my order would be ready in 8 minutes. So I waited for 35 minutes for me and my friends food. When I get home I see that my friends order is wrong and call them to complain. The woman on the phone argues that my friend didn't say this even though he orders the same thing every time AND I heard him Then she tells me she can't get the correct order to me until 30 minutes later, even though it was steamed rice and they are five minutes away...walking. At the end of the day they never brought the rice over. If they could get 0 stars they would.

Good portions, fast, cheap and conveniently close to Universities at Shady Grove, where I attend nursing school. I love how they have an online ordering system that's very easy to use. The food is pretty good for this kind of fast food Chinese take out/delivery restaurant. Every time I've ordered something it has always come out piping hot and fresh looking, which I greatly appreciate. I also love that they have bubble tea, any Chinese restaurant that serves bubble tea always gets an extra star simply because I am a bubble tea addict. They don't have a huge selection of flavors but the flavors that I have tried so far (Mango, Black Tea, Taro and Coconut) were all very good. Just ordered something from them for the first time online and am waiting on the delivery, it hopefully should be good!

Food was good... but overpriced... and the customer service horrible... today is the first time I order via Grub hub and the delivery driver had the nerve to demand me to go outside to get the food...smh... if I wanted to go outside I would have went to pick it up... really though!!!

It's ok. Not horrible, but not the greatest Chinese food. If you are a Chinese restaurant I will judge you on your moo goo gai pan, my dish of choice. It's cheap and fast and right near my school...but definitely not quality. I only eat here if someone else suggests and I don't care enough to argue about changing lunch locale. But, don't come here expecting much. They have really cheap lunch specials. 6$ for a meal + egg roll + choice of fried or steamed rice

Solid Chinese delivery option, with good prices. Now that Mayflower is closed, we were looking for a new Chinese go-to option. The "choose your tofu" dish for $7.95 was very good, and the option to get brown rice is nice. Also, don't forget the Doughnuts, 4 for $3.

There are two things that work for Oriental cafe: their location and the pricing of their food. They are located very conveniently in the Traville village, close to the Universities at Shady Grove. I usually come for their lunch special -- $5.95 to $6.45 for your choice of entree, white/brown/fried rice, and an egg roll. I usually get the sweet and sour chicken or general tso's chicken. The thing about this place is that there is just something lacking in the flavor of the entrees. I love general tso's and here it's just bland. The chicken is okay, the breading is okay, the sauce is okay. It's not sweet, it's not hot, it's just kind of... there. I'd have to say that of all the dishes I've tried here, only the sweet and sour chicken sauce hits the spot. If the highlight of the entire dish is the sweet sauce, its a downer to me. I usually don't eat the egg roll because the portions are very generous. Flavor wise, there is a lot of room for improvement. There are many other places I'd go get chinese, but this place just has a monopoly on me when I'm near school. The owners are very nice, they already know what I'm going to get when I walk in the door. The prices are very affordable, which really makes this place a bargain. They do no accept American Express.

What I like about Oriental Cafe is the amount of food you get for the price you pay! Its cheap and their lunch special is just about enough to fill my stomach! The only thing I always get there are the Sweet & Sour chicken. I am not a huge fan of trying different dishes at this place because I feel that I would rather go to a way better Chinese place and try out other dishes than getting something here that I end up not liking and never ordering the same dish at another good location. It's great for Universities at Shady Grove (USG) students since the cafeteria there is a bit pricy and the food is neither great nor enough to fill your appetite. My recommendation is if you are at USG all day or in the neighborhood, stop by for their Lunch special and try it out. They are all priced between $5.95 to $6.50 or something like that. Oh and usually they prefer cash but if you say you dont have any, they will accept Visa or Mastercard.

I've only been here once but that was more than enough. Sure, the food is cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. It would have been nice if this place was better since it's so close to my campus at the University of Shady Grove. I got their General Tso's lunch special for $5.95, which comes with fried rice and an egg roll but the food was just meh. You know that disgusting feeling that you get after you eat something greasy (not the good kind) and you kinda just want to take a shower? That's how I felt after eating here and that's why I won't return unless I hear that this place has changed since there are much better authentic options in the area. Heck, I'd definitely rather drive to the mall to get Panda Express than to ever go here.

I was really impressed with this place! I have been searching for "Coconut Shrimp" since I left Savannah, GA in 2008! I have finally found it in Rockville, MD! SMH!!! LOL! It was just as GREAT as it was in SAV! It was soooo good to the point where I almost fainted! LOL! DAMN GOOD! I was soooo happy! It had been 3 years yall! Minus the times I went back to Savannah for my college Homecoming....I love Coconut Shrimp! Does anybody know of any Chinese joints in ATL that sell "Coconut Shrimp?" Do tell.....Do tell....lol! (and P.S. This is NOT the Coconut Shrimp they sell at Red Lobster or at Wal-Mart thats all breaded up in stuff...this Coconut Shrimp is covered with a white thick sauce thats sweet and gooey! The shrimp itself is NOT fried or battered up, it's Pan Seared/Grilled and covered in that coconut sauce! CLASSIC!!!)

The food doesn't taste like your generic Chinese food. You can tell that the ingredients used are fresh and haven't been sitting around for a while. Some of the dishes have a bit of a unique twist to them (like the Kung Pao chicken had celery and carrots), but it is still very delicious. They are open late too which is a plus!

Great service and prices. Gotta get the pork fried rice!

Well I used to usually go to China East cause it was the best stuff around the area, but when this place opened up, i tried it out. It was well worth it, they have really nice service, and the value you get when you order dinner is better than china east because they increased the prices and decreased the food you get. I order the combo platter of general tso chicken and its SUPPOSE to come with pork fried rice, but I like chicken fried rice, and they are so nice to change it. I am a local now so I just walk up and they already call out my order and I just give them my credit card, no words are exchanged(lol). She even knows to put chicken fried rice rather than pork. The platter combo comes with egg roll too, if you wanna try a new chinese take out place then give this one a try, you will probably get hooked. I hope they don't change or anything, i gotta try the other stuff on the menu but General Tso is such a sure bet. Also another thing i like is the little candy they have next to the fortune cookies, they are amazing. The sit-down is also nicely furnished, but i would recommend taking out since its more convenient.

Good options, fast, and descent food. It's your typical Chinese food big portions and greasy just the way American love everything loaded with fat! The lady in the front is really nice and she always remembers who ordered what I don't have to tell her much just the names of my co-workers or description. I gave it 4 stars bc none of the local Chinese restaurant near by are even worth trying

  • Sam D.

I love this place! I order from here a lot if I need my chinese fix of the day :)! Its so close to my house and it has great food! A lot of people are saying that the food is not that great because of the grease. All you have to say to the people who work there or while your placing your order. "Please do not put tons of grease on my food, thanks." Ever since all my food has been great! I love you Oriental!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
