Been here few times for lunch and dinner, and I am impressed with their food, you don't expect that from a small place like this. They offer your typical American Chinese food with few Cantonese and Vietnamese items. This is a good cheap to eat place, lunch combo under $6 and dinner under $8. They actually use soya sauce on their fried rice instead of the "yellow" dye like some other place. Spring roll had a crispy skin. Their Shrimp Chow Mein was excellent, just like how my mother made it (almost). Kung Pao Chicken was made with a sweet hosin sauce, not too spicy. Soup was typical. Their BBQ Spare ribs had good favoring, but it was on the fatty side. But be warn, I notice their food made with good amount of MSG. So if you are allergic to it, be careful. Yeah, I'll be back when I'm in the neighborhood.

came here on a whim, but was pleasantly surprised. the blinds were closed, but after walking in, i was more pleasantly surprised! the place is pretty spacious and very clean! the bathroom was nice too. staff was friendly. food: i ordered the chicken with black bean sauce which i really liked! portions were HUGE and the sauce wasn't too salty and it had the perfect amount of spiciness. my fiance ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was just okay. the chicken strips were surprisingly meaty and large, but the sweet and sour sauce was nothing to rave about. not bad, but not absolutely delicious. portions were again HUGEE!

Best Chinese food since we left CA. I order the Cashew Chicken with white meat and extra Cashews. Love the flavor both with Kung Pao and Cashew Chicken..Yummo!!

This place was better when it opened up, but it's still pretty good, and as far as Chinese carryout goes, it'll do the job. Their portion is generous, and the people working there are very friendly. I really like their curry chicken, general tso, Mongolian beef, and some of the lunch/dinner platters. Their lo mein is also good.

The food was quick, tasty & cheap. They need to lighten up on the spring rolls wrap as it flakes too much. I like the steamed veggies they used for the soup which is made to order right on the spot & the for 3 items I paid under $10. A quick appetizer before the nail spa visit.

Cheap-tasting Chinese food, not very flavorful. They were quick, although it wasn't particularly busy. I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt with a very wobbly 3 stars...

They have good value for soups. 1.50 for a huge small size. They are also very nice.

Terrible sanitation! Counter person wiped his mouth on his open palm before serving me.

Found a long black hair mixed in with my rice. When I showed the box if rice with the hair inside, the staff's response was to throw the box away, and immediately scoop a new box of rice from the same steamer which had the hair inside to begin with. They were very rude when I asked for a refund. I had my concerns when I originally picked up my food and I saw the same employee wipe her nose with her hand, and not wash her hands before helping another customer. I don't like to overreact, so I ignored this behavior and took my food home. When the hair was found, I wasn't surprised. I have sent a consumer complaint form to the a Montgomery Department of a Health regarding their response/reaction to me finding the hair in my rice. They also screamed at me on my way out when I snapped a pic of their food service Liscense. They did not seem to care at all until I took a picture of their Liscense, and then they began screaming at me. Spend your money elsewhere. By the way, on my first two visits, the food was average, good for the lunch prices, but not worth the dinner prices.

So we were craving Asian food but were short on time. This place happened to be very close so on a whim I called in an order. Super friendly and easy to understand. Placed order and food was ready to pick up in 15 min. We ordered wonton soup (a must have when feeling under the weather), orange chicken (old fave), Pad Thai (in a Chinese restaurant? Ok), and Grilled Lemongrass Beef with vermicelli. So the soup was fine. Soothed the sick soul. The orange chicken? Actually quite spicy. But good for greasy gooey orange chicken standards. The pad Thai was an experiment; I knew I was asking a lot to expect good pad Thai from a strip mall Chinese spot. It was...how do I say this...pink. Seriously. It was pink. It had the largest fried egg blob covering the entire top of dish. Once we removed the egg there was a soupy watery sauce that was spilling over edge of dish. And the entire pile of noodles were pink. Not sure why or how. It tasted just ok. Had no real peanut taste to it. Had instead some sort of pickled flavor? Weird. The shrimp and chicken in it were ok. I would not get this again. But the big winner of the night? The grilled lemongrass beef. Omg. It was delicious. I would totally go back just for this dish. The beef morsels were cooked just right- a little crispy but very tender inside. Good flavoring and not overpowering at all. Wish it included a little more beef and pickled cucumber carrot mix. The oil sauce they put on side made the dish. Great touch and added superb subtle flavor.

I have lived close to New Mandarin for nearly two years and always seem to forget it exists. To be honest, it doesn't look like much from the outside. They keep the blinds closed, so you can barely even see in...which kind of scared me, until I saw that the reviews were pretty good on yelp. They were quick and efficient, but the food wasn't spectacular. The moo shoo was good, but had a slight burnt taste to it. The shezcuan was tasty, but could have been spicier. The rice was a little dry. I will give them another shot in the future, I'm sure....but first my first impression was just average.

I used to work around the corner, and would stop here because out of the plaza it is located in. This is the only place that really appealed to me. Low and behold, it was pretty damn good. It's a quick take out kinda place, while you can dine in. It seems that most people get their orders to go during lunch. I have ordered a couple different lunch specials from here - the standard Americanized Chinese dishes like Chicken with Mixed Veggies, Shrimp with Broccoli (White Sauce) and Veggie Spring Rolls. I liked it, and thought it was a great portion with great prices. A good place to grab something quick. Service is good, quick and the food taste clean and not over sauced like most Americanized spots.

We use to get take out or delivery once a week, now they are lucky if we get dinner there once every two months. Tonight was a prime example, ordered steamed vegetable dumplings, got meat dumplings, ordered brown rice, got white, ordered kung pow, got chicken with vegies and soy sauce, no kick very bland. Sesame chicken was mushey and the broccoli was almost raw, unsteamed. I called them to address the issues and they could care less. Over priced and poor quality.

It's my go-to lunch spot if I want Chinese. Best hot and sour soup in town, it's actually both hot and sour! I hate hate Chinese restaurants that serve you hot and sour soup that's neither and also thickened so much it doesn't even taste like soup. This place it's just right. Great lunch specials for less than $6 or $7 bucks. You get a LOT of food for the lunch special plus spring roll (that actually taste good) and white or fried rice. Everything made fresh to order and taste great. I just hope it stays in business in this economy. More people needs to give this place a try :)

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
