phenomenal sushi.. Yoyogi's has been closed for a little while now so finding sushi as a replacement was a struggle until I stopped by this place with my brothers, now I don't think I want to go back to yoyogi's :/ I have yet to have such creamy and fresh fish as I did at Nagoya, yes it's a little bit pricey but do you know how hard it is to find brown rice sushi around here?! brown rice was an extra dollar per roll and it took them a while to get our order made for take out but I'm beyond impressed.. Look out Yoyogi's, there's a new sushi place in this girls heart!

Went here for a coworker lunch. It was fine. Good service, decent food. The sushi was definitely not the best I've ever had. It just wasn't as fresh or as flavorful or creative as what I can get even from somewhere like Wegman's, much less the better sushi places in Virginia. Again, it's good. Decent lunch for a fair price, but nothing that blew me away.

I'm a huge Yoyogi fan, but I gave this place a try after hearing good things. It's a little nicer inside than Yoyogi and is definitely less crowded during meals, and you get waiter service. A friend and I had the 12 piece sashimi lunch ($15.95) and the maki roll combo ($11.50). Both were a good amount of food - I enjoyed the variety of sashimi and the presentation was cute. I think I still prefer Yoyogi for the cheaper prices and especially for their maki rolls. However, not a bad choice if you're in the neighborhood looking for some sushi.

First time trying this place and have lived near by for several years. Will definitely be going back. Today's special was salmon jaw for 6.95 and it was delish! I'm a big fan of using all parts and not wasting and the salmon jaw was so flavorful! Never had it before today but will have it again. Also had spider roll with fresh ,meaty ,crispy soft shelled crab and California roll with REAL crab. Both with spicy mayo no roe. Everything was fresh and tasty and the service was fantastic! Going back Monday for the specials.

This is my first visit. Everything was fresh, but my favorite so far is the salmon/jalapeño/cilantro/ginger rolls. Literally melted in my mouth with a kick of heat. I'm going back again and again.

I think you guys need to change your online menu through menusurbanspoon. Every time I call to order for a pick up, I always get charged more than what I saw online. So I think you should either update your online menu or take it all together. Thank you

This is my sushi nirvana and I have been here too much now they know me like a patron at Cheers. Lucky for me the prices perfect for such great quality. My go to is the Chirashi bowl. They have some nice unusuals like Crunchy Spicy Lobster Roll (which I get non spicy) or Soft Shell Crab Tempura. My favorite desert they have is Mango Mochi but sadly it is only available Wednesday. I love Nagoya and the ONLY thing that upsets me is that I haven't know about them sooner as they have been around for a decade.

  • Jeff S.

Good quality sushi and very quick service. Pricing is excellent; you get 6 pieces of sashimi for under $10 bucks and the level of freshness is stellar. One criticism is that for a sushi place, they really don't have much in the way of sushi. Most of their offerings seemed to be soups, rice and noodle dishes, and protein based entrees. Wish they had more roll and sashimi options.

I don't know what it is about this place but I really wanted to like it. And I couldn't even find a reason to not like it. It just didn't get me. I have eaten here twice both for lunch. It's located near my office and so a co-worker and I were craving sushi the last time. I thought I'd erase the first visit from my memory and try again. The first time wasn't great nor bad. Second time, I ordered two special rolls - Dancing Tuna Roll and Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll. The rolls were beautiful and looked great with the thin layer of rice. I loved that the rice ratio was perfect for the fish amount. But when it came down to taste, it was funny. The fish wasn't bad. But it wasn't the best. It didn't have that fresh melt in your mouth taste. In fact, some of the pieces were kinda gummy and just not good. You can tell the fish quality isn't the best, or even high. So because of that, I wouldn't return. Again, looked great. Wanted to like it. Service was good. Prices were decent. But eh, don't waste your calories or time on this place. There are better sushi spots in the area that aren't too far away.

Service: Friendly and excellent, no complaints from the cook or waiter service. Food: Surprisingly good, the food was prepared quickly (since we were the only patrons in the restaurant) and it was a solid 4 out of 5. Having had a pick of various rolls and nigiri. There's nothing terribly exciting about the restaurant but there's nothing bad to write about it either.

Located near Capital One Bank and Safeway in the King Farm Village Center, Nagoya offers sushi in a traditional atmosphere. Service was typical of any Asian restaurant...not very attentive. Sushi...eek! Came here for lunch one afternoon and ordered several rolls. The sushi didn't taste as fresh and some of the rolls had rice that was semi-hard. The salmon/avocado and tuna/avocado weren't bad. The amount of fish/avocado in each roll was pretty generous, although the roll pieces were cut unevenly. But the spicy tuna and yellow tail rolls were just horrible. The fish was so finely chopped and mashed together that it had the consistency of baby food. Yikes! Another roll with cooked salmon and avocado was just as disgusting. Uh uh. On the bright side, Nagoya does offer $1 nigiri on Mondays. They also have a loyalty card...for every $10 that you pay in cash, you get one stamp on the card. Once you get 10 stamps on the card (i.e. spend $100 and pay in cash), you get $10 off. Will I be back on a Monday to try out their nigiri? Maybe. Will I fill up a loyalty card one day? Most likely not.

I have never had a bad meal here! The wait staff is friendly and the chef is fun and imaginative. Spicy mussels are a speciality and the fish is always fresh and cut generously. I highly recommend Nagoya.

Absolutely love this place. We have been going for years now. Besides the nice sushi, they have some particular creations of their own that my kids love. The staff treats us like family and that is basically why we keep coming back

  • Jesse W.

This place was really good. The price is perfect for the sushi and the atmosphere is great. It didn't get 5 stars because sodas cost 1.60 and you don't get free refills. They open a new can every time you ask for a soda which adds up.

    (4)
  • Franceska B.

I love the sushi, I usually get the California roll yellowtail or tuna. Fried rice is also very good. The staff is friendly and The prices are good especially lunch.

We've been here at least ten times in the past year and I have to say that the quality is really hit or miss... but we seem to have narrowed it down to Tues/Wed being the best quality fish. They have low prices on Monday and it makes me wonder if they get fresh shipments on Tuesday. About half the time we go here, it's DELICIOUS. And half the time it's just okay... The golden dragon is my favorite roll but again... it fluctuates from spicy to sweet and the amount of sauce on the side varies, too. Overall, it's tasty and the people that work there are extremely nice. Quality control is a little all over the place and it's not the kind of place for a first date. The interior is very plain and looks like it was furnished by an old folks home or cafeteria.

Great place, friendly staff, the scallop appetizer is awesome and the sushi is really great!!

  • Robert C.

This place's a pretty small restaurant, probably family-run. I only come here for their $1 Nigiri on Monday nights. The nigiri themselves're pretty fresh and pretty decent in term of portion. The one thing that I can't stand is the wait time. It took them like 30 mins just for them to prepare our sushi and the place wasn't even that crowded!

Best sushi in town! Ken is the best!!

My husband and I just moved to maryland and this was the first sushi we decided to try. It is amazing. We fell in love with the volcano roll and sakura roll. I highly recommend this place. Great service. We definitely plan on returning!

  • Stephanie M.

I had lunch there for the first time today. We were seated promptly and service was great. It wasn't very busy at lunch time which I would have expected. I had the California and Shrimp Tempura rolls. Both were excellent. I'm looking forward to going back again.

  • Jack W.

Pricey but good. It might be because I get the most expensive items on the menu but they are my favorites. I get the fried soft shell crab appetizer and the sashimi dinner box. Have never had a problem with this place.

FOOD Went here for dinner with family Sunday night and it was excellent. We ordered 7 specialty rolls, the Sushi roll platter, chicken katsu, and two salmon jaw specials for seven people. It was A LOT of food and we probably could have ordered a few items less, but we do love sushi. All the specialty rolls were delicious and I especially loved the salmon jaw specials. For those who have never had it, the salmon jaw is the part of the fish that is between the gills and goes right to the pectoral fin. It was grilled so that the skin was very crispy but the meat was just cooked so it was very moist. It is all served with some sort of teriyaki sauce that is drizzled on top. I dont remember all the specialty rolls that we got but to name a few: Red Dragon Roll, Crunchy roll, Dynamite roll, Spicy Tuna roll, etc and they were all very great tasting. A good fish to rice to seaweed ratio so they had good proportions. The sushi platter had 16 pcs of nigiri, salmon roll, california roll, spicy salmon roll, shrimp tempura roll and a spider roll. The fish on the nigiri tasted fresh and the pieces of fish were pretty large for the amount of rice. Also, most places that I have gone to that serve a spider roll over fry the soft shell crab - not here! SERVICE The waitress was very attentive and made sure that our tea was always full. She explained each dish that we ordered to make sure we knew which roll was which and asked us if we liked to food. BONUS The chef made a special roll for us that doesnt have a name. It looked like a tire since it had "spokes" of purple and white rice with seaweed separating each "spoke" and inside had some tamago (egg), imitation crab filling (used in california rolls) and avocado. It was a "dessert" roll since it was on the sweeter side but still had savory ingredients. It was surprisingly delicious and I would ask for it again when I go back. VALUE The prices here are pretty good for the amount of fish you get in the sushi. Since the sushi that we got was all good and service was great, we would go back again!

  • Jenny B.

So, this isn't a fancy or elite sushi place. However, the place is clean and the staff/owners are extremely friendly. Most importantly, the sushi is ALWAYS FRESH! I go there on average once a month and they always remember me!!! My favorite thing on the menu is the Salmon Combo. If you are an Uni fan, if they have it... It's second best to what you get in Seattle.

    (5)
  • Michelle W.

Meh. It's very lack-luster. The fish didn't taste stale, which is a plus, but aside from that, it's nothing to rave about. If you're in the area and really craving sushi, then come here, but don't make it a destination. Aside from the sushi, the other fare is very mediocre.

  • Elizabeth M.

I am still mourning the loss of my regular favorite sushi place which changed ownership so I have been frequenting Nagoya more and I really enjoy it. The service is good (fast and polite), the menu has a great selection, and the fish is FRESH (cannot stress this enough). Nagoya has become my go to sushi restaurant and I am up and down the Pike all day long. TIP: PAY IN CASH. They have a program that when you pay in cash you receive a stamp. 10 stamps = $10 off an order. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.

We have ordered delivery over a dozen times and have eaten in about 10 times due to proximity. Sushi: Pretty good with a nice selection of different rolls. Ingredients fresh - only one time was the crab a bit "iffy." I really love their tempura sweet potato rolls that have a tiny bit of mayo. Chicken Udon: My favorite here. A bit pricey but very tasty with a large amount of soft chicken. I miss the poached egg they no longer include. Veggies are fresh and firm, broth is chicken-y flavorful. Noodles are plentiful and chewy. Teriyaki chicken: a bit overcooked but seasoned well. Seaweed salad: Fresh and not overly salty like some places. Gyoza: pretty good, light meat filling that seems somewhat lower in fat (maybe ground chicken?) Service: Always friendly and attentive every time we go. Atmosphere: okay. Sometimes they skimp on air conditioning. Overall, my pick for sushi places in the area is Yoyogi in the Kentlands.

  • Eddie T.

Sushi was okay, I thought the rice was soggy, the crabmeat in the real crab california rolls didn't really add any taste. Also got the crabmeat fried rice only to find it was imitation crab meat used shredded in the dish, was dissapointing..

  • Michael R.

We visited this place on a Sunday, and it was quiet. The interior is basic, and there was nice classical music in the background which gave some nice ambience. The salad with peanut dressing was OK, it was merely some iceberg lettuce, some carrots, and a little onion. The sushi was great! I had the "Volcano Roll", Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Sweet Potato Roll. The sushi was served just right, and the service was prompt and great. Overall Value: The price was reasonable, and the food was great. I would recommend this place.

  • Brian I.

Not top-of-the-line; not supermarket-quality, either. Good fish quality; wonderful rice texture; cooked and seasoned deliciously. Super speedy counter and table service, though ambiance is nothing to write home about. Solid B+.

This place is absolutely gross...spicy tuna and spicy yellow tail rolls looked and tasted like crap. I cannot believe that people eat here? It's Chinese owned and I'm Chinese which makes me embarrassed. There is excellent Sushi and Sashimi from Gaithersburg to Annandale...was forced to go here with a co-worker. Yea - I'm a sashimi and sushi lover and this place is not good at all.

  • Jennifer O.

Nagoya has consistently good sushi and sashimi. I've been a few times for both pick up and for eat-in and it's always to quality. The last few times, I've gotten the sashimi and tempura lunch special. The tempura was still warm and light, not soggy like other places! The sashimi is average in portion, but it also comes with rice, soup as well as a salad when you dine in. Since the closing of my other favorite, this has been my go-to place!

I'm a fan and I didn't even get to come here to try the sushi on Monday night. $1/pieces. The place is very small, but very welcoming. I had a california deluxe sushi roll, and my friend had the chicken teriyaki & tempura lunch box. The miso soup is good, the salad was a sesame dressing which wasn't bad. The portion of tempura was a mixture of veggies - eggplant, green bean, zucchini, broccoli, and 1 shrimp, the portion of chicken teriyaki wasn't bad either, it was a bit sweet but I like my food spicy so what do I know. The deluxe california roll was baked in the oven with crab and mayo on top. It was a good roll and came out fresh hot. I will definitely be coming back to drink some sake here, and have $1/piece sushi on monday nights. The food is reasonable priced. I wanted to try so many things on the menu but didn't get a chance to because I ate before coming here. It was just a quick lunch stop for my friend. Will definitely be back to get the golden dragon roll! it sounded awesome.

  • Amy C.

I ordered the sushi & sashimi bento box which is an awesome deal because it comes with a lot of food. The salad was made of iceberg lettuce and the dressing was a peanut dressing which meant it was pretty much inedible. (I prefer any other type of lettuce over iceberg.) Where was the standard carrot dressing? The miso soup was okay. The fish was a mixed bag of fresh and not-so-fresh, but there was nothing special. I tasted too much vinegar in the sushi rice. The California rolls were my favorite part of the box--they use roe instead of celery for the crunchiness. The unagi don on the side was okay; the eel was overcooked but I loved the seawood and pickled radish on the side. Overall, the food was just okay. The great service made up for the food--my cup of tea was always full and the food came out fast.

3 stars 3 stars! The place is run-of-the-mill. Not awful, but not spectacular. What is going on with their spicy tuna roll -- it was HOT PINK. My friend even had to ask me WHAT it was I was eating, and if fish come in that color.... We had a wide variety of items, the soft shell crab tempura was decent, albeit on the small side...but that's probably not their fault since soft-shell-crab season is over.

  • MaJ C.

For the price of Lunch, The quality was not good at all. The cuts of fish had the kind of fat on them that Carnivores refer to as "gristle" Just Imagine: chewing your sushi like bubble gum. Blech! The service: Crabby, and inattentive. I really could not wait to eat and run! My palette shall not return. No real reason to. All of that said, could have been an off-waitress, off-day, whatever, doesnt matter, you cant get it right my first time...

I really like this place for Take Out Sushi. Their White Tuna Roll and Eel Avocado Roll are both my favorite. Fresh fish and good service. Couldn't ask for anything else.

Being half Japanese, I know quality sushi and Japanese foods. I have dined here a couple times in the past. It's a small little corner sushi restaurant. They have a good selection of fish and they also serve other Japanese foods like katsu and others. The sushi came out pretty good and in large portions. On my second visit I was treated to desert on the house. I would go back there again if I only had a date to go with. :)

This review is for sushi. With the power out all over Montgomery County after violent thunderstorms, we traveled up Rockville Pike/355 from one powerless decently rated sushi bar on Yelp to the next until the sushi gods smiled upon us with Nagoya Sushi out near King Farm. Rainbow Roll and Vegas Roll were brought out with amazing presentation. There should be uploaded photos of these plates from my old profile. We also enjoyed the Tuna Jalapeño Roll, Crunchy Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Spicy Scallop Roll and the Spicy Tuna Salad. I plan to return to Nagoya if I am in the area again.

This review is strictly for the sushi, I stay away from boxes and teriyaki at places that focus on sushi. It's my new favorite take-out sushi spot. After being hit with a sushi craving, I drove into King Farm to pick up some quick. The variety was something I have never seen before. I ordered the Tuna Jalapeno roll, which also included cilantro and ginger, it was yummy! I love all those things and have never seen that on a menu before. I also really liked that they didn't overwhelm you with rice in the roll, and the sesame seeds added a nice crunch to each bite. I will definitely return and try their other sushi creations. As far as the service, very quick and polite. I would eat in too, but it is more of a humble place, no special ambiance.

I must say that if you get sushi here, it's probably best to stick with types that you know are no-fail. The highlight of our meal was the grilled mussels, which was reminiscent of a volcano roll. Delectable grilled topping with cilantro on top. The udon in soup was very light, but noodles were overcooked to the point that it lost its "QQ" texture, as we Chinese like to say. Nothing too special about this; just a little white cabbage, mushrooms, and imitation shrimp. This came with 3 shrimp tempura pieces, which were standard as well--no dipping sauce provided. It felt a little heavy for me. As for the sushi, they did not have fatty tuna, and the salmon skin hand roll was OVERLY salty and doused in a bitter sauce...way, way too much. The salmon nigiri was tasty, however. A sour note of this experience was that the waitress talked so fast that I felt very rushed. And, when I asked questions, she went through the list like lightning so I couldn't understand anything and just had to pick randomly. Our waitress also forgot our miso soup, and people who arrived much later received their appetizers and soup way before we did. We waited about 20-30 for just the appetizer to arrive. I saw a family come in to be seated (the place was practically empty) but she said she was busy and told them to wait (though I don't see why they couldn't have just sat down). They went to sit anyway and the waitress still redirected them to sit at a specific table. Unfortunate... I saw them get up and leave.

i enjoyed my sushi! it wasnt the best sushi but it wasnt bad at all, it was enjoyable! i wouldnt drive all the way from somewhere to eat their sushi but since i live right around the corner, its comforting to know its good!!! the spicy tuna roll was weird...just weird...dont order it, the california rolls were GOOD! and so was the salmon roll! the seafood they use i have noticed does lack a lil bit of flavour but it doesnt taste bad at all...its quite decent,... But what's better than the sushi is their pan fried noodles, their shrimp pan fried noodles are so yummy and simple! Absolutely love them! Fried banana isn't bad either if ur in the area only 4 dollars and quite a big portion of desert :)

I've ordered takeout from here a couple times and eaten in once. I'll definitely keep going back. The vegetable udon was, however, a little bland so I will stick with the sushi.

I come here more often than I should as a discerning sushi lover. Let me just preface by saying that I have eaten at the best standing-only sushi bar in all of Tokyo and have a picky palette for sashimi. Any other sushi joint on the East Coast is 2 stars at best relative to that. I simply can't rate sushi in the US on the same plane as that. So Nagoya gets a solid rating from me, why? +1: Monday night $1 nigiri. For those of us who want to get a quick fix of raw fish, you really can't beat that price. The best part is they don't skimp out on portions just because it's half price. The slices are large without being unwieldy, there's no hint of freezer burn, but you can tell that is isn't the freshest. Not that it isn't fresh either, but it isn't prime. +1: Service is usually quite good, but be prepared to wait awhile for your order if you come during a busy time with a large number of people. I am particularly impressed that the ladies can memorize your order, even if you have like 20 different things on your plate and so does your buddy across the table from you. +1: Stamp card. Like any small business, they prefer if you pay in cash and help reward you too. They have a pay-in-cash stamp card that, when fulfilled, acts as a $10 off coupon, which they will let you fulfill immediately. Just good enough to be good, but (like most other places around here) still a long shot from being great.

Nagoya Sushi is located in King Farm shopping center, right next to Safeway and Hair Cuttery and Capital One Bank. I've only been here to get lunch to-go and the service and quality of the food isn't bad. I went there twice now and I can say that their lunch service is pretty quick. It's not too busy. I walked in, ordered, and literally got my lunch in a few minutes. The lunch special offers aren't too bad. I got the California rolls & Spicy Tuna for $7. Their other lunch specials included teriyaki chicken with tempura, or california rolls and maki sushi with california rolls. Watch out though, they have a $10 minimum on credit card purchases. Bring cash if you can. The sushi was alright. I've had better and much worse, but for lunch, they satisfy. I did get the chicken teriyaki with california rolls before too. They give you a lot of white rice and fill up the rest with chicken teriyaki. It was a bit sweet for me, but it was a lot off food for only $10. i gave it 3 stars because I think their food can be better. i wouldn't go here for dinner. I think Yuyogi sushi is a bit better than this place. But, this place was satisfactory for me.

Stumbled upon this place tonight and was amazed!! This place was incredible, wonderful service and some of the best sushi I've had in months! We got three rolls (tuna jalepeno, tuna avocado and the Sakura roll-real crab, salmon, avocado and spicy mayo) and the chef made us another on the house! Everything was delicious and affordable, I will be back any time I'm in the area. Definitely recommended!

A nice little sushi joint tucked into the hell that is King Farm. We went in on a whim, and were welcomed warmly. The service was quick and very attentive. The restaurant was quiet, which is a nice change of pace for that area, and made it feel intimate. The decor was cute and cheerful. My partner ordered the sushi and sashimi bento box, and I ordered the avocado salad, and a tuna sashimi appetizer. The fish was very tasty, and I am now craving the avocado salad. My partner enjoyed his meal as well. It ended up being around $35 for the two of us, which is getting off cheap at a sushi joint. Over all I would say it is a good place, not great, but good. We will most likely return.

Waitress was nice. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and tempura but we got chicken teriyaki and California rolls. The Sushi rolls were dry and looked like it came from 6 piece packet in Giant. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, it's that bad!

had a very average experience with this place today so I had to update this review. somebody pointed out that the quality here is hit or miss. they are so right! I've been here and I've loved it and others days thought it was average at best. this person also said Monday and Tuesday are good days for fresh fish. this was a Thursday and I could tell the fish was sitting around for a while. (more than a day) taste of the Tuna was awful but the salmon was good. the rolls were the best thing I had. niwano Hana down the pike most likely gets daily fish shipments but this place doesn't seem like it does. not sure if I'll return which is unfortunate.

1 star for service. 1 star for sushi. I was really hoping previous service reviews were isolated incidents. I visited Nagoya around 1:30PM on 11/7/11, only to wait 4 minutes before anyone acknowledge that I was there. I didn't want to be rude, so I waited while the chefs (if that's what they're called) and the hostess had a conversation. Yes, they saw me waiting, but as I was turning to leave my to go order, another patron, yelled to get their attention. Really? Bad. I started eating my California rolls in the car. Um, first bite, ok. Second bite made me hurl. Not sure if it was old fish, fake fish or a hybrid. If you've had really good sushi, beware and be aware.

I agree with most of the reviews, this place is okay. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had and the price is a bit high (or maybe reasonable). But, I might go here again because it is near work and it was decent enough. The miso soup was surprisingly good. The litle salad you get with the lunches was kind of sad. The atmosphere wasn't very relaxed at the time although it was pretty empty when I went at lunch time. One of the servers was on the cell phone pretty loudly and it was hard to ignore. At one point they did go outside with their call and that was good. The food came out quickly, but as I said I might have been the first customer of the day so I don't know how they normally are. If you're near King Farm for whatever reason I wouldn't avoid this place. You don't really have other good options in Kings Farm, so you are better off going here.

This is a solid restaurant-- I've had better, I've had much worse. The food was good, the service was attentive. As for the sushi, I thought the selection was a bit limited, which is starting to become my major complaint with a lot of the sushi restaurants in the Montgomery County area. Somewhat disappointed with the sushi selection, I opted for a roll combo for lunch, including a California roll with real crab and a spicy tuna roll. The combo meal included miso soup and a salad. All of the dishes were tasty, well made, well done and nicely presented. I'd like to give this place a higher rating, but I just wasn't overwhelmed by it. If you live nearby, want a relatively quiet atmosphere and good service, this would be a good place, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. Working nearby, I expect I'll be back, but I'll pick a different restaurant for date night.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a co worker. We have eaten here twice recenly so I'm ready to provide some feedback. Great lunch specials and very good sushi. Second visit I had the Udon soup which was ok. Service is great and patience is required. The sushi chef is a master of his craft and takes his time to provide a quality product.

I stopped going here. The service has just been getting progressively worse and it always takes forever to get the check whenever I come in. In addition, the last two times I came here, I have gotten very sick from the sushi. There are better places in Rockville. Sorry Nagoya, we just weren't meant to be.

We get carryout dinner from this neighborhood place every couple of months or so, and keep coming back. They know me by name, and are fast and polite. The fish is as fresh as it gets around Rockville without going to a *really* expensive place downtown. Check out their Monday happy hour sushi specials! The bento box meals have been good and the avocado salad is yummy, too. The Unagi don tends to have an odd base of somehow fried rice rather than sushi rice--still good, just curious. The Dragon Roll is very tasty, too. The proportion of rice to fish is appropriate--it's not all rice. Plenty of fish in the rolls & sushi.

3.5 stars. I wish we could do half stars cuz this place needs 3.5, not just 3. I've tried a bunch of sushi places in the area and everytime it is a crucial fail. This place delivers in the flavor department. Sushi always tastes fresh and full of flavor each time. The teriyaki beef is pretty good as well. This is a very consistent sushi establishment and worth visiting.

"sssaaaankkkkk youuu!!!" As the owner would say. I love the food here, perfect boxes with a lot of food in it, lacking in the rice though. Good service, I love the cozy atmosphere also. Maybe pricey, but theamount of food is good for the money I think. Try the spicy crunchy lobster roll, best on the menu I'd say.

*3.5 stars* This comfy sushi spot is tucked away in King Farm. We came here on a cold winter night. As there were only a few other tables occupied, we were seating immediately. We warmed up with mugs of hot tea when the waitress came around with a freshly brewed pot. The restaurant inside is pretty simple and the dining is casual. The service was spot on until we needed to get the check, at which point the BF had to get up and walk over to the waitress to ask for it. I still wonder if the procedure here is to go up to the cash register to pay, but probably not. Nagoya seems pretty popular for takeout - several customers came and waited for their orders to be prepared. I think the most impressive pat of Nagoya was how quickly we were seated and served. They do have a good variety of sushi here and a selection of some more non-traditional rolls as well.

The only reason I don't give this place four stars is that the decor is more than a bit bare and cold (white walls, grey tile, dim lighting). But otherwise, this Gaithersburg strip-mall restaurant was a pleasant surprise for this picky sushi lover. Excellent quality fish, rice made just the right way, creative combinations and rolls (try the jalapeno maki!). It's always fresh, priced right, and with good service. And right around the corner from the dog park, it makes for a relaxing end to the day.

Solid neighborhood sushi in a planned community. Nothing spectacular, but a solid, consistent small restaurant with quick, attentive service. They probably do more takeout business than sitdown service. Always a friendly place.

Bad sushi rice. Okay location. Okay pricing. Good service. Okay fish (not the most fresh, but what do you expect in King Farm territory?).

This small restaurant is located in Kings Farm a neighborhood off of 355 (rockville pike). I've been going here for 6 years and I still love everything about them. They have a sushi bar with a variety of beer and a small selection of sake. Their sushi is really good and the price are very reasonable. I usually start out with the spicy mussel which is grilled mussel with their own special spicy sauce. I just love tonkatsu (deep fried pork) so this is usually what I get as the main dish. My girlfriend gets sushi and I usually pick at it haha. For refreshment I always have a bottle of kirin. Overall, this place is one of my fave spot for sushi.

First trip out here and it was a very good place, nothing great, but very good. The presentation of the food is excellent, the server was very attentive and friendly, nice atmosphere. I met my brother for lunch (it was a Wednesday) and it took nearly 30 minutes for our sushi to get to us (probably due to the nice presentation), for a work-day lunch crowd - that was pretty slow. The spicy tuna cone was delicious, the scallop roll and volcano roll were excellent. If in the area I will go back, not very pricey either.

This is the only sushi place around the area that I can compare with the sushi I've had in Asia. Their fish is fresh and they're always coming up with new things. On my birthday one year I got the sashimi boat and loved it. The price was reasonable as well. For lunch, the bento box would do the job. The service is good too, they recognize the customer's faces.

I have been there a few times in the past years with friends and coworkers. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is not bad overall. My only problem is that their food is pretty salty. The only there that is not too salty for me is the miso soup and the seaweed salad. Most recently, I went there to get a lunch special (California roll & salmon skin roll). The California roll was ok, but the salmon skin was really salty. The salmon skin roll barely had enough rice on the sushi, which might contribution to the overall saltiness of the roll. I can eat their teriyaki chicken without any of the sauce. That is probably just my personal preference. If I were to go there again, I will try something that does not have soy sauce in the seasoning.

Got our 4th of July sushi platter here, pretty good sashimi platter. Price is reasonable, $65 for the platter, couple more bucks for seaweed salad. I've eaten here quite a few times, the service is always great. I also notice the constant flow of customers, very important in sushi places because the fish should be fresh. I only gave it 4 stars because of the limited saki selection.

Went here for the first time and i did not like it. The fish was dry, the rice was stale, and the tofu in the miso soup was so small i couldn't even taste it. I will not go back.

Great sushi, price and service. I especially like the dollar sushi night on Mondays.

Good sushi for a reasonable price. This place makes a good roll. I hate when there is too much rice or the roll isn't rolled properly and falls apart in the soy sauce. Not an issue here. The spicy tuna was a bit on the small side but tasty. The California roll has the crab meat log - not shredded crab meat so a little big to sink your teeth into but still good flavor. We also got the cucumber and avocado roll and the yellow radish roll. Again, good flavor but everything was chunky rather than julienned. I will definitely go again.

This is my go to sushi spot. I love the fact that the food is consistently good and that they are not over priced. I order from Nagoya often and would say that it is just as good as some of the pricier sushi restaurants.

Great little Sushi place hidden away inside King's Farm. Staff is friendly and the sushi is very good! I've had their other menu items however and I have to say it isn't the best. Their tempura wasn't that great, but their Chicken T. was good also. I'd stick to the Sushi though. Always fresh and delicious!

Fast Service ! ... Great Sushi and Fried Rice good sized for the price. No free refills though. Can get busy at times but most times seated fast.

I've been going to Nagoya for a few years now and it has never disappointed. Still one of the best homey, sushi places that I've been too. The bento boxes give A LOT of food and I love their salmon teryaki. The wait staff is always very friendly.

Pretty solid Sushi restaurant in Rockville. Great lunchtime choice also. My experience is pretty consistent with Angel's review. The sushi is very fresh and the restaurant is conveniently located in the Kings Farm shopping plaza. Because of the location you kind of get the traditional strip mall restaurant feel but so what, it's the food that counts right.

Decent place to go for lunch during work hours but I probably wouldn't go for dinner. I ordered 3 rolls - Cali, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon. All good! My boyfriend ordered bento box and we were both filled.

Another 2 and half stars from me. Maybe I should try their sushi at lunch like Angel. My wife and I had dinner there once as we felt dutiful to show support to neighborhood restaurants. I wasn't impressed. Consequently we haven't gone back since. I ordered rolls, no sashimi. Non-Japanese chef. Yes that bothers me.

Recently moved to the area, and decided to try this place out and am impressed with the quality and service. Reasonably priced for its location and selection, and I trust the freshness from my positive experiences there. Looking forward to ordering the avocado salad and salmon nigiri again.

I'm not sure what I like more . . . On one hand the sushi is consistantly fresh and good, yet on the other hand it's so close to the office that I can walk there in heels on a nice day. The dining environment is nothing to get excited about and on some days it's a little too warm to be comfortable. They have an extensive sushi menu with some creative and unique rolls.

I've given this place two chances... The first time was a range of items from the menu which I simply could not eat. The second, tonight, was what I thought would be safe choice of just various rolls. I've never had spicy tuna rolls with a Technicolor-red pureed paste in the center, and hopefully will not encounter such in the future. The salmon roll was equally strange. The rolls also seemed larger than normal.

if you're going to have the word sushi in the restaurant name, you better live up to it. other than being in a convenient location, nothing to write home about for the sushi. the rest of the entrees are pretty typical as well, but you can get much better food for the same price in the area.

I stopped in for lunch, and was quite disappointed. I really *wanted* to like the place, as it's convenient for me, and I read the mixed reviews ahead of time and hoped I'd agree with the high-raters. I did not. First impression -- appearances only: not bad, clean but plain. Food: I had a lunch box with chicken teriyaki and california roll. The chicken was rubbery, the sauce average at best. A few pieces of chicken seemed to be undercooked. The california roll seemed as though it had been prepared hours ago; the cut surfaces were dry, and it was nothing special. I prefer the kind with the krab broken up and mixed with a bit of mayo -- these had a plain crab stick, avocado, and tobiko inside with a thin outer layer of rice. The salad was good, but small. The miso soup was average (which isn't bad). The tea was served in a plastic cup, but the water was in a nice heavy glass. Service: Quite fast, though I was there around 11:40 for lunch, and only two other parties were there. The waitress/hostess was nice if I was nice to her and smiled a lot. At other times, with other people, she seemed quite curt. Ambiance: Not much. Plain, non-offensive decor in a small dining room with large windows on two sides. Very loud if you happen to have a table full of annoying, loud-talking, foul-mouthed men in there at the same time, as I experienced. Overall -- Definitely "meh." I might go back to try a more "special" roll, but for serious Japanese food and sushi cravings, I'm sticking with Niwano Hana! I honestly cannot fathom how Nagoya's rating can legitimately come close to Niwano Hana's -- they're in completely different leagues! Unless, perhaps, Nagoya has vastly different chefs at different times.

Well I used to live in the King Farm area so I ate here all the time. you do get some divine sushi here as Nataliya N says. I went last week for the first time in a while and it is still great. I've tried sushi all over the USA and this is still some of the best. I also recommend the following items I usually get grill spicy mussels are fantastic, Yakitori is good also. I have tried the combo fried rice it was delicious. My favorite rolls are crunchy shrimp roll, Unagi sushi. Oh I will tell you of a secret roll that is not on the menu Fatty Salmon Roll it literally melts in your mouth it has to be the best roll here. Don't know why its not on the menu, I just happened to be served it by one of the chefs one day. I would of gave this place 5 stars if based solely on the food.

I've been to many sushi places around the country some nice, some trendy and some just plain bad. But Nagoya is by far the best for a number reasons. One the sushi is as fresh and well prepared as one can demand. The other being the wait staff have always been warm, welcoming and very attentive to my table. The rest of the menu is also well thought-out and prepared. Some of the best terriyaki chicken and beef I've had in a long time. Even the tea "which is very satisfying" is quite different from the regular ho-hum brews that you would find in other asian resturants. Very limited on the Saki brands. However, It would be nice if they had a little more selection. They do have different types of Japanese beer. Last but not least the prices are the best in town. Sure you can go to one of those trendy everybody wears expensive designer black outfits and dump a boat load of cash just because it's a cool place or you can get the real deal of great meals at Nagoya Sushi.

Ugh. I think I have a bias opinion of this place because in all honesty-- it was totally a last resort. My friend and I were originally going to eat at Niwano Hana Japanese Restaurant (I was SO looking forward to trying them !@#$%) but they were closed for after lunch before dinner. Same goes for Sushi Damo and Temari Japanese Cafe. By the time we got to Nagoya, I was a little frustrated and just wanted to eat whatever I could get. Loni ordered the steak teriyaki and I got the chicken teriyaki. Both entrees came with miso soup and salad. I love sesame ginger salad dressing and they gave a heaping amount of it. Eh, the chicken teriyaki was mediocre. I had to pay an extra dollar for it to be cooked with white meat. Not only that but it was extremely bland, but not dry. Loni's steak teriyaki was good. I'm looking forward to eating the leftovers after I finish this review.. Anyways.. we also got an order of the Crazy Rock & Roll sushi and Shrimp Tempura. Again, another mediocre dish. The avocado on my rolls were in the process of turning brown when they got to me. Service was okay, no need to go out on a wimb to please us-- we were the only ones there! Sorry to say it but I will not be coming back.

Yuck. I've had a lot of sushi, but I've never had a salmon roll where the salmon was ground up and mushy. The tuna tasted like canned tuna. I couldn't finish it. I'm not a big fan of roe, so I usually push it off of the calif roll, but this one came with the roe inside of the roll. The dressing on the salad was good. The miso soup was okay, but I've had better with more chunks of tofu and scallions. Their unsweetend iced tea had a strange taste to it. I won't go back.

I think the management or chef changed because they used to serve the califonia rolls I like. Now, the california rolls only have a tiny piece of imitation-crab-meat inside the sushi roll. I don't like it. The imitation crab meat used to be much bigger and also shredded with other ingredients. Plus, they are quite rigid with their lunch and dinner prices. FYI, after 3 PM, the same dishes or items are far more expensive - just because it's later. The service is bad.
