Never had a problem with this location. I can't give it 5 stars because I don't eat here. I only come for coffee. The staff is always friendly and even when the line is long it seems to move quickly.

  • Miss T.

Consistently HORRIBLE food and service. Tonight, the line was very long, very slow, and when we got the chicken nuggets and fries, they were cold and tasted like VERY OLD OIL. Like when the management is too cheap to refresh the oil, food starts to get a nasty, bitter, acrid taste. God awful. Every time I come here it's infuriating. Unfortunately, it's one of the only drive throughs in my area. How bad can a McDonald's be? You'll see!

    (1)
  • April S.

Definitely not your average McDonald's. I typically use the drive thru option, however the times I've been inside I've enjoyed the ambiance. They have flat screen tvs, a water fountain wall as well as restaurant style booths and high bar stool tables and chairs. There is also patio dining. The service is good. My food has always been correct and hot.

Came to this location on a cold and rainy day to pick-up some Old Bay Filet-o-Fish sandwiches for my in-laws. The restaurant was very busy, but we got or order (accurately) within 15 minutes and the food was excellent. The cashier was sweet, the restaurant was clean and we were happy! The only negative is the crazy driving that happend the the parking lot.

Here are the top 4 reasons I don't like this McDonald's: 4. You will damage your car simply trying to pull into the drive-through. There are so many pot holes by the entrance that it will throw your alignment off. 3. The long wait if you go inside. Every time I go in, the line is wrapped around the restaurant and there is only one person taking orders. How much sense does that make? NONE! 2. Cold food. Most of the time I go to this location, my food is room temperature to cold. Nothing worse than having cold shoestring fries. 1. Terrible customer service. Just last night, the guy taking the order wasn't paying attention. Had to repeat my order 4 times and yet they still got it wrong. On top of that, they never wipe the beverages off and end up handing you a cup that is sticky and wet. So, with that said, I don't like this McDonald's.

I gave a little bit of flak to the other McDonald's location, but this location showcases the wonders of updating the tired old designs of McDonald's' past. It is clean, bright, and service moves quickly...except for those occasions when the drive thru isn't working, which seems to happen quite a bit. There have been some problems for me in the past, but nothing that seems endemic...then again, I don't go to McDonalds every day, thus I have no larger perspective on this location's employment and service policies and practices. At the end of the day, you're getting the same McDonalds you'll get everywhere else, and the lobby is also open 24 hours a day and has a drive thru as well. It's cleaner than most, so Supersize® my self-loathing and help me satisfy that munchyesque craving with slabs of sizzling beef flesh covered in "cheese," deep fried fries peppered with salt, and a near-bucket of almost-syrupy fizzy sugar water to wash it down. Goodbye, self-respect, hello gluttony! Ok, that was a little harsh. There is always a time and a place for McDonald's, and fortunately with this location, that time is all the time.

I haven't been to the Mc Donald's in Rockville pike in a while since I worked there! I love McDonald's !

  • Edwin V.

I don't even think at this point it's worth writing a review on a franchise fast food restaurant unless it's something negative. Anyways this Mc Danolds clean, fast and just like all other renovated Mc Danolds. Your in and your out.

  • Scott W.

This is an above average McDonalds. It's open 24 hours. It's pretty clean and they sell quarter pounders with cheese. Enough said.

  • Paul M.

This place has fallen down, hard. It's been here forever and use to embody the things that made Mickey D's a success. Not today. It's a pig sty. Trash everywhere on the floor and behind counter. Understaffed and no leadership. Thank goodness I only walked in to grab a coffee because I probably could not bring myself to eat anything. What the hell happened? If this were my store my managers would all be fired. Today.

    (1)
  • Sharon C.

I have ordered unsweeted tea and keep getting sweet tea. Ordered a double hamburger (that is what the outside order screen showed). What I got was a double cheeseburger. Frustrating.

    (2)
  • Irene F.

This review is 4 stars relatively speaking. By that I mean- it is a MCDONALD'S so let's be real- the menu is the same nationwide essentially. And the food tastes about the same too. So why bother writing a Yelp review right? Well, this one is pretty nice inside. Flat screen tv's and stuff. And a water fountain wall. Outdoor seating on a patio that isn't half bad for being a fast food joint. Why why didn't I give it 5 stars? I wish it had an play area. Sigh. Since it doesn't, I usually find myself down by the one near King Farm instead since they do have one. If you're in the area and looking for a good indoor fastfood play area- the Burger King on Shady Grove road is a good mix of decent inside with a pretty great play area. It's too bad I kid prefers McDonalds...

  • Robert G.

They never have anything prepared in the mornings! I usually go in around 4am and they never even have coffee brewed! I just moved by them and they have LITERALLY never had anything I've tried to order. No apple pies, no grilled chicken...nothing

    (1)
  • Stuart W.

The "manager" here on Tuesday evenings is a complete moron. If I order a milkshake you need to give me a straw with it you prat! On top of that the staff taking the orders don't get the orders right and take a long time to get food to you. Definitely one McDonalds that we will no longer patronize.

    (1)
  • Kevin G.

Service at this location is terrible. My wife and I keep trying to get dipped cones there but the machine is always broken. Give me a break. There is often a line and the people at the register are not exactly the most friendly. The only reason we keep going is the location. If you have an option hit the Vir Mills location.

    (2)
  • John H.

Finally, a high class McDonalds with a beautiful outdoor deck open 24/7. Coffee at 2AM, a paper and a cigar. Heaven.

    (5)
  • Tilty A.

Always check your bags before you leave. This place never gets our orders right even though they show up perfect on the screen. And taste your drinks before you drive off! I've gotten iced coffees that have no creamer and unsweetened tea that is always sweetened. One of the worst Mc Donald's I have been to.

  • Dee B.

There are a plethora of froyo options on Rockville Pike, but no real ice cream options - unless you're willing to head up to Rockville Town Square or down to Bethesda. So, what's a person to do when craving some soft serve on a warm summer night? Head out to McDonald's for a McFlurry or a cone? At $1+ for the new snack sized McFlurry (large enough for me!), the price is definitely right. However, this place was being somewhat terrorized by an irate customer, who was berating the manager, telling him he could sue one of the women doing the cooking in the back, and insisting that he needed $1.06 back. Unfortunately, it looked like the manager was ill prepared for this type of confrontation, and pulled our register guy into it. Thus, my and my friend's order got mixed up....either way, both McFlurries were okay....the candy/cookie bits were not mixed in well enough, sitting most on the top 1/3.

We have a small RV and have traveled all over the United States in the past 3 years. As low-carb health food eaters, our "staple lunch" has always been the Angus Wrap- Mushroom Swiss combo. We have probably been to 100 McDonald's from the West to East coast. THIS McDonald's is the ONLY one that has Angus Wraps that were horrible. Last Saturday we ordered three of them (we usually split the 3rd one) while out doing errands. There was just a tiny amount of beef and mushrooms in the middle of each wrap with gobs of mayonnaise and what seemed like a larger heavier flour tortilla than usual (maybe it just seemed that way because there was so little filling). In other words all three were a dough-y mess. We have never thrown away our lunch, but this time we had to throw out at least 1/3 of each wrap. We would have gone back and complained but didn't have time. However, we will make a point of NOT visiting this McDonald's again. Even though the older woman at the window was nicer than most McDonald's drive thru employees. She was friendly and showed appreciation for us as McDonald's customers which most of their employees in larger metro areas don't do. (Boise, IDaho, however takes the prize for friendliness of people no matter where you go there).

    (1)
  • Selica O.

Should be a standard run of the mill McDonald's but it's not. This place sucks. My order is wrong more than it's right. The most annoying part is answering questions like what sauce I want and then getting to the window and no sauce. Why bother asking?

    (3)
  • Stacey M.

Oh dear Lord, this must be the worst McDonald's on the planet! Sadly it's also my closest. I cannot count the number of times my order has been wrong. This is particularly true of the drive thru, where it seems many of the servers are not native English speakers. One morning, despite repeating 'no egg' FIVE times, we still got egg on our breakfast sandwhiches. It had happened so many times, that my husband actually drove back from his meeting in VA to return them! It's not just the wrong orders - food is often not made to even the ordinary McDonald's specs. I don't know if they don't follow them, don't care, don't know or just run out of the ingredients, but I watched an employee remake a simple chocolate milkshake 3 times for a customer in front of me! I, myself, have had hamburgers that were missing normal ingredients and burgers served on buns that were clearly the wrong size for the pattie. The service too is lacking. This past Sunday, late afternoon with 5 visible McDonalds employees and only 3 customers, my husband and I went in to get a couple of hot chocolates - hubby ordered a small tub of those new McBites which we got fairly promptly... and then waited 15 minutes while we watched the employees mull around and talk to each other... before we had to ask again about our 2 hot chocolates. It's just sloppily run and poorly managed.

As far as McDonalds goes, this is the best. Always clean, orderly, quick, and hot even at 2am. There are several other stores on the pike but they look like metro station bathrooms. This McDs looks like a Spago's by comparison. Although i dont often eat fast food now n days, when i do i prefer this store.

  • Eric T.

SAH H is referring to a different location (most likely the one across from White Flint Metro), as this one does have a drive-thru. Lots of comfortable seating here, big-screen TVs throughout. Friendly service.
