High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

So I know here's multiple locations of this place and to my understanding it's supposed to be all the same but this one really didn't cut it for me. It's run by some Hispanic/Mexican people (whom I have nothing against) who don't speak the best English and when you try to order stuff it's some what difficult. Now the food I got the chicken kabob and it was very good. The rice had no taste and the salad the lettuce looked old but hey the chicken was great so I guess that compensates right. Would I come back? MAYBE it's not a terrible place but instead of going to Buffalo Wild Wings or any other lame place around where the taverna is I'd rather go there.

You won't be blown away but you won't walk away with disgust either. Lebanese Taverna is a quick service restaurant that is speedy. Keep your expectations realistic and don't expect a five-star meal on a fast food budget. As long as you keep that in mind, you'll enjoy yourself. No "wow" factor but clean, professional service and ease of sitting down and having a great meal. Highly recommend as long as you know what you're getting yourself into when you walk through the doors.
(3)Philip L.
I like coming here because of it's location, wide space, and easy to order foods. The real downside is the wait. I ordered 2 spicy hummus, but took about 10 minutes when it was not busy. Also, one of my orders was wrong and they put meat in it. I am a vegetarian so I had to send it back. It is never good when one has to send back food for a wrong order. I do like how the bread was fresh and delicious. Overall, it is a place to grab a quick bite, but nowhere near the service or quality of the regular sit down Lebanese Taverna.

I've been to Lebanese taverna in Rockville congressional plaza & Bethesda and the one in Rockville town center. Of the 3 I think this one is the worst. Last time we had salmon harra and it was bad. This time we had shawarmas and they were just ok. The sandwiches were loosely packed , which meant everything kept dropping out every time u tried to take a bite. The kids meal had hardly any grilled chicken in it and the spicy hummus was sour! The best one I think is the one in congressional plaza , that was their first and best!
(2)Audrey K.
I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat before taking a class and mentioned to the cashier I had to be out of there at a certain time. He checked with the cook on how long it would take to make what I ordered, told me about 5 minutes, and sure enough brought out my food in about that time, and he was very polite about it. The chicken kabob had a good flavor to it. It was just the right amount of food and decently priced. The place was clean & nicely decorated too. I'm coming back.

Standard, quick and delicious middle eastern food. Had the platter and the grape leaf wrap is really good.

Always feels like home, very welcome and warm people, always have a lady that cares about you and coming to your table! Food is tasty and well balanced,Harira soup is Yami laala

I'm giving the two stars only because the food is good, however the service is the worse I have ever seen! I live in the building above it and I would go more but every time we Go I am reminded of how bad the service is and so we don't for a while. The last time I was here, which is probably gonna be my last, we ordered two kafta platter sandwiches, it was 8:45 and I was ordering it to eat at the restaurant. After he took my order he told me well we close in 15 minutes and the kafta takes 15 minutes and he was even so rude about it! There were like 2 or 3 tables sitting and looked like they are NO where near done but when he said that I was so annoyed that I told him just put it in a box. We took the food (which only took 10 minutes btw) and we ate it at the tables outside. We were done and the people were STILL eating inside. They were in there until like 9:30 and we were done by like 9:15. Worst service ever!
(2)Stuart F.
This place was terrific. Great food, great service, and the location is very spacious and well-designed. If you want delicious food in a great DC neighborhood, I'd head to this place.
(5)Eileen N.
I expected the chicken shawarma to be freshly made -- the chicken was clearly previously frozen/cooked and simply reheated. The hummus was sour and strange. The pita was edible, though unfortunately I couldn't eat it with my mysterious hummus and dry chicken. I shudder thinking about the food I ate and am grateful to not have experienced physical pain from eating here. The lack of customers on a Sunday afternoon speaks to the quality of the food at Lebanese taverna. I should have known better. The service was decent, and thus I cannot blame the workers for the clear lack of standards that management/owners have imposed.
(2)Harsh Deep Singh N.
Love going to this place. The ambiance is decent, and the staff are polite and courteous. Now for the food. The pita is the my favorite part about this place. It's fresh out of the oven, and simply amazing. Their hommos and spicy hommos are awesome too. The fattoush is excellent and i would definitely recommend it as a must try item. I've been here multiple times and have yet to be let down. Hope it stays that way.

Always order Anna's platter, like all of my friends did. This plate includes shawarma or chicken shawarma, hummus, rice and lebanese salad. I usually get chicken shawarma and it's just the right amount for lunch, always have leftovers too. There are at least two Taverna in Rockville downtown area, one is in Town Center, the other on on the plaza near Rockville Pike where you have Chipotle, Starbucks, Donkin's and so on. The one in Rockville Town Center is bigger with newer decoration. It's busy during weekday lunch hour. My feeling is that the food is very healthy and it won't make you fall asleep in the afternoon. Remember to get a point card, every meal you get one point, then receive a milestone gift ( 3 points for a free soda, etc). Apparently, they like to do loyal program, but if you dine here frequently, it's a bargain to collect those points. Closest parking is at Dawson's market,it's two hours free. Just need to press the button on the meter for the lots on the surface floor, then you see one hour parking time for free immediately. Even they are lack of staff now, the food delivery speed is normal.
(4)Luis P.
This Lebanese location is my favorite. There is free 2 hour parking garage as long as you validate the ticket. The staff is friendly. The food is fresh and delicious. They have a great deal on Mondays when you get 25%off on any sandwich. Another day of the week children eat free (I don't remember which day). There is plenty of seating.
(4)Eric B.
Yeah, this place is pretty darn good. One of the best baba's around, and the rest of the menu delivers. You really can't go wrong. Chicken with rice was delicious and the salad was such a refreshing compliment. I stuffed it all into a piece of bread and made a pseudo-shawarma.
(5)Beverly R.
My friend and I went down there this saturday and we had diarrhea after that.. the falafel we ordered was old and refried and the Lemonade was terrible. We will not go down there again. The food was definitely not fresh!
(1)Korrin B.
Delicious food! Staff was very helpful. They carry wine and beer. Baba has yogurt in it, so it is not vegan.
(4)Liz B.
Clean, nice atmosphere, and REAL food. Food is always excellent, but maybe a little pricey. Ice tea is always fresh.
(5)Chris W.
Waited over 20 minutes before going back up to the counter to remind them of our order. They didn't apologize or even tell me what was going on. 5 minutes later, "my" food appears. They couldn't even get my order right. Again, no apology. Nothing comped. Clearly they don't value my business. I'll go to other Lebanese Taverna locations, but never again to this one.
(1)Mike B.
I have to tell you. Lebanese Taverna - yeah, I'm a fan. I've never left a Lebanese Taverna saying, "bleh, why did I choose that," like I would say if I chose I'm usually like, " ok ok , I get it. I can dig it." Is it the best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten... no. But it's pretty solid cuisine for what it is. This past time I got the Kia's Platter which was a choice of chicken or lamb shwarma with 4 choices of mezze items. This format I love! I get a meat and a bunch of little salads and dips and two steaming hot pitas. I could do this every day for lunch. Barring the chicken shwarma being a little dry/overcooked and everything needing a little spritz of lemon - I really enjoyed my meal. I got the special hummus which had some sort of ground meat on it. It was good. I got the tabbouleh which I love there. I got the M'saka which was a delightful combination of chickpeas and eggplant in a tomato base served cold which was probably my favorite dish. I go the lebanese salad ( or Israeli salad as I know it) to me was a little too roughly cut for its own good, but had a tangy zippy dressing on it. The pita, which is shaped like a small football, is super fresh and the perfect vessel for all these wonderful treats. Fun Fact: The one in Rockville is a walk-up cafe style restaurant and the one in Bethesda is a sit down restaurant with service. I did not know this till 4 minutes ago when I was researching what I actually ate on their website. I thought they were all cafe style.
(4)Natasha G.
I was rather pleased with this place! I would give it five stars, but I've only been once. It is a Lebanese Taverna CAFE, so the atmosphere is much more chill, relaxed, and casual. I liked this a lot - it was more informal and less expensive. The menu was great with all of the typical Lebanese food items. I got the chicken fatteh - warm yogurt sauce served over layers of chickpeas, pita chips & pine nuts. It was so delicious and satisfying! I tried the chicken shawarma sandwich, and it was great, along with the side salad (very refreshing). I got the Turkish coffee - very potent and strong, it was bitter even with sugar added. It was still what I was expecting though. It was nice that we didn't have to wait for a table, and you order at the counter and pick up the food yourself. The place was quite clean and spacious. Bottom line: I would definitely go here again! There were many appetizing items on the menu, and the relaxed atmosphere was truly great.
(4)Sarah G.
Ate here with a bunch of friends before an art opening in Rockville. After a loonnnng drive in from Towson, I got Annie's mezza and a Yuengling (much needed). The fattoush was amazing! Loved the pita in the salad, great lemony sumac, light dressing. Also got the eggplant salad, which was also amazing. I thought about this meal for several days after I ate it and would have gladly returned the following day. The sample mezza was just the right size for me and everything on it was wonderful.
(5)Angela W.
After a long day walking around DC, my friend and I walked to this place from the Metro station hoping for a healthy, satiating meal. My first impression of the restaurant was that it looked pretty nice - the walls and seating gave off a "posh" impression. Very clean inside. When we went to order, the cashier patiently explained to us what each of the food options were. There's a handy sheet on the counter with pictures, too! You have to pick up the food yourself - it's not brought to you. Neither were the utensils, to my surprise. That was a little annoying but not too big of a deal. My friend and I settled on the "Kia's Platter" which allows you to choose four of the mezza onto one platter. I assume the portions are decreased but I thought this was a good deal - allowed me to have a variety of foods and still left me full! You get two whole pita breads and can ask for more (which we did!) On my platter, I ordered hommus, falafel, kibbeh, and yogurt salad. Not too heavy but I was very much satisfied. My friend ordered hommus, kibbeh, shakshouky, and house salad. All in all a decent meal, and I would come here again if I were in the area. Not amazing enough to warrant me coming here over other places, though.
(3)John B.
This place is part of the Lebanese Taverna brand; a fast casual type deal rather than a full restaurant. Like most of its ilk, it has a high ceiling and nice decor, and there's a lot of seating and it's right in the middle of Rockville Town Center. However, I just wasn't that impressed with the food. It came too slowly and too cold for being a fast casual place, and wasn't all that flavorful. I asked for fries and the cashier repeated back to me "fresh fries", but they really weren't. And their menu didn't have a ton of options. It's a shame because I wanted to like it on principle; there aren't many good Mediterranean restaurants outside the city. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but I wasn't impressed.
(2)Maria M.
I had the rotisserie chicken (1/4 dark) and exchanged the potatoes for rice. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the rice was ok - not dry or soggy. The bread that came with the meal was still warm and delicious and it came with this garlic butter semi-solid that you can spread on the bread. It definitely didn't disappoint. The kafta was a little dry for my liking but hey, everyone has their preferences. All in all, pretty good food. The atmosphere is nice and the servers were nice too =)
(3)Elizabeth D.
Good, inexpensive lunch option on the RTS. I had the chicken shwarma platter for lunch with a side of fries and a salad. Chicken was moist and flavorful and the pita wrap seemed very fresh. The salad was also quite good. I tried the spicy hummus as well and really enjoyed it! This is a good option if you're looking for something relatively healthy or other than Five Guys or Buffalo Wild Wings.
(4)Bruce G.
When I reviewed this place last time, I'd rarely had anything but the "traditional mezze platter." I've had a greater variety of things here, so I ought to update my review. They have a platter called "Olivia's" which is more flexible than the "traditional" -- you select any three from a fairly wide choice. It's a better bargain than the traditional but a little less food, so if you want a little less, I'd recommend it. And it seems that they have daily specials most of the time now. So today I had a "spinach stew," not really what I'd call a stew but spinach, rice, and chunks of lamb on a plate. The lamb was somewhat underdone by my standards, but basically it was a good dish. I still get the Vimto to drink when it's there (at least once they didn't have it) and I still like it a lot. Not much to change, otherwise, from my earlier review.
(4)Kendra W.
Whenever I'm in the Rockville Town Center, I almost always end up going here over any other place. Even on a bad day, it's still pretty tasty. I love the fries and I never need ketchup or anything for them. I tend to order the chicken shawarma because it's my favorite. Now, their falafel is a hit or miss. Some days it's amazing! Some days...I wonder if someone fell asleep at the fryer. So I tend to just stay away from that food item.

Being new to the area, I was curious about this place, so when a Groupon for it appeared, I bought and used it. Well, sort of. The groupon was sold in pairs, and their "fine print" said only 1 could be used per "person." So my husband and I each ordered a meal for take out. For convenience sake, we ordered them in the same phone call. When we picked up our 2 meals, they would only accept one groupon. I tried, unsuccessfully, to reason that we were 2 people, getting 2 meals. We just happened to order them during the same phone call. No dice. The woman at the register told me I could use the other groupon "next time." As if this experience made me want a "next time"! I assume one reason a business offers groupons is to court new customers. You'd think they'd bend over backward to give the customer the benefit of the doubt. I barely wanted to eat my food after this experience, and I'm sure our experience colored our opinion of the food. Neither of us can objectively review it. We strongly dislike Lebanese Taverna now, so they lost, not gained, at least 2 new customers. And they're probably doing poorly, wondering why, and thinking maybe they should offer another groupon! For those wondering, Groupon has been of no help, not even able to accurately read their own "fine print."

Haven't been to many Lebanese/middle eastern restaurants, but this is like the standard for me. Whenever I'm craving heavily spiced food, I come here. Although I did have the lamb shank once and I bit into about 4 cardamom pods. Not fun. Did not enjoy. Other than that, it's a great place to go to get exposed to that type of cuisine. Also, remember to get that garlic sauce!
(3)Dan M.
This place is just ok, a spot I'll hit up when I'm craving Middle Eastern but don't feel like driving a few mins down the Pike to somewhere else. The food is just fine - I've never disliked anything but never been blown away either. It is fast food Middle Eastern, but still, I've been to places of similar speed and price and gotten much tastier Middle Eastern. My usual order is the chicken shawarma sandwich (of the four or five meals I've tried, this was my favorite). The garlic sauce is just slightly funky tasting (not funky as in spoiled or anything, I just can't exactly put my finger on what it it that gives it this flavor - definitely not as good as the garlic sauce on shawarma sandwiches from other places I've been to), it could really use some pickle and/or tomato, and the chicken is pretty consistently on the dry side. All these negatives aside, it's not bad, just very average. I'll keep coming back when I need to satisfy my hummus craving, but don't expect too much.
(3)Crystal L.
Note this is Lebanese Taverna CAFE which is pretty awesome because you get the same quality of food and service at a fraction of the cost. The setting is obviously more informal, but the décor is still clean and classy. The beef shwarma and lamb shank entrée were both delicious. They also serve a Lebanese bottled beer that is utterly fantastic. Great food at a great price point. We love this place and will definitely be coming back.
(5)Andrea K.
Probably the worst carry out I have had in recent memory. My daughter even had plastic in her food. Will never go back
(1)Corine C.
Food was great. I got the quarter chicken and potatoes with a side of hommos (I always thought it was spelt as 'hummus' but they spelt it with an "o" ... whatever ... my taste buds don't care how it is spelt). The chicken was flavorful and the hommos was awesome. I would definitely go back. Although I thought it was a little odd that the worker offered me hot sause for my chicken ... all black people don't like hot sauce! ... well, I do ... but still!! I didn't want it at THAT particular time ... *rolls eyes* ... lol Food was great though :)
(4)Melanie Y.
Umm, had I known about m'saka earlier, I would go here everyday if I could. The hummus was great as well and the pitas were yum. No complaints here. I may even try to replicate the m'saka dish at home, because it's that good if you're an eggplant lover like me.

I've been here several times because it's one of my best friend's favorite spots to eat and Rockville Town Center is cute and fun in the summer, especially when they turn on the water jets and the little kids run through them (okay confession, I've totally run through them too). The food here, however, is just okay. I often find it to be on the dry side, especially the chicken and other meats, and the salads have always been doused with dressing. However, I like the grape leaves and hummus with pita, and the yogurt dressing is good (just make sure to get it on the side).

I love this place!! The food is always fresh and consistently good. The staff is very friendly and the establishment is clean.
(5)Alan Z.
This is my goto place for middle eastern food. The hummus is awesome, shawarma really good, and the Mouzat is definitely a must eat if you like lamb. The price is pretty reasonable as well.
(5)Alex M.
This Lebanese Taverna is the cafe version of the full restaurant. You order at a counter and seat yourself. The food is overall adequate and less than the full restaurant. The supreme feast wasn't bad. It was enough to feed four. The shawarma sandwiches on the other hand are not good. I've had real shawarma in Santorini Greece and these sandwiches don't live up to the real thing. They are made with pita bread, lettuce and your meat of choice, that's it. They a very plain.
(3)Cara V.
I tried multiple Lebanese Taverna locations while living in DMV a couple years back...and none disappointed. This was an easy stop for me after work or on the weekend and the food was always fresh and my orders were correct. I miss you LT!!
(5)William M.
In general, the food at Lebanese Taverna is decent at best and ONLY if you have never had good, proper authentic middle eastern food. Classifying this cuisine as Middle Eastern, is like calling the Olive Garden "Italian", "Baja Fresh" Mexican, Diner Food "Greek" or Papa Johns, Pizza. Not expensive but generally overpriced ($2.50 for one Kibbeh). Service used to be much better, this particular evening it is extremely slow because the clowns working the kitchen are more interested in joking around and amusing themselves then working. Oh..my food is ready, gotta go...
(3)AJ H.
First time having Lebanese and the D'jaje Masahab (pulled chicken and cheese w/ an interesting sauce) was LIKE THAT. Pretty quick take out time (about 7 minutes) for lunch time in Rockville.
(4)Jason C.
The Lebanese Taverna in the Rockville Town Center is an express chain..and in no way represents the quality of the food at a dine-in establishment. Before I tried the dine-in Lebanese Taverna, I came here and I was SO disappointed with the food that I got (hummus and Shawarma). It is just WAY too salty and I had to throw the food away. I swore that I would never go to one again but then I ended up going to the Lebanese Taverna in Pentagon City and found the food to be much better. Avoid this place in the Town Center......
(2)Samuel C.
This is a great restaurant. I love this place. My cousin, my sister and I. We all share this dishes. I love bread with the garlic sauce. Also the lamb, chicken, etc. The staff are nice and friendly. The restaurant nice.

The food was comparable to the cafe in downtown Silver Spring, although seems pricier and most importantly the servings are smaller here. I tend to get the platters which I always found sufficiently filling at the Silver Spring location, but when I received my order here, I could tell that the servings were smaller by appearance alone. Mainly it's disappointing because I really love their baba ghanouj and their hummus, and there was barely enough of each for one-two spoonfuls! The service here is also a lot slower and seems more disorganized. Maybe they have fewer staff? These experiences have been consistent every time I've visited, which prompted this review. I've been for both a slow lunchtime crowd and a busy evening, and nothing has changed. Hopefully they'll work on these aspects because otherwise it's a very nice venue and the food quality is very good, certainly no less than its Silver Spring counterpart.

Last Monday I went in on my lunch break from jury duty. When I got back to the court house I realized I left my iPad there. I called and spoke with the young guy, twice. Telling him both times to look in the exact spot I sat and described what it looked like. He said he looked but couldn't find it and that it was too busy to keep looking. Also left him my phone number just in case. Fortunately I got off jury duty about 30 min later and ran back. I saw two women that were sitting one table away from me earlier and asked if they saw it. They were very genuine and said they saw it almost immediately after I left and gave it to the young guy behind the counter. At this point the restaurant was not busy (2 tables). So the question becomes, why did he not tell me they handed it in when i called and why did he not return my phone call. Thank you so much to the girls that were still there. If it wasn't for them I believe the employee would have continued to lie when I showed up. The food is ok, but I'll never eat there again.

I've been going to the cafe on the Pike for years, and I was happy to have this location even closer to my house. I only ever get the Kia's Platter, with four mezze items plus chicken shawarma. I haven't noticed the meat being any drier here than at the other location, and if it was I'd probably just use that as an excuse to slap their addictive garlic sauce on it, oh my lord, so good. The hommos and fattoush salad are good as well. I don't like the kibbeh as much as I used to, and I'll be skipping their falafel from now on, as well. The thing I don't like about this location is how much like a cafeteria it is, rather than a cafe. It makes it good for the families and groups who tend to dominate Rockville Town Center places, I guess, but it's not a very inviting room. Oh, and if you're one of the Montgomery County residents so destroyed by the bag tax that you try to balance all of your stuff on your head and in your arms, don't try that with carryout here. There are lots of bags and boxes for the bread and sauces that come with your food, so bring a bag or give them a nickel for one. Better to do that than lose your hommos on the sidewalk.
(3)Shannon D.
Let me just say...That famous scene in "When Harry Met Sally"....Except I wasn't faking.
(5)Ajay A.
I have been to this location for lunch and dinner multiple times, and have not been disappointed on any of the visits. Have tried pretty much all the platters, as well as the individual items. The food is always fresh, and very good. You place your order at the counter, and pick it up once it is ready. During summer, there is live music right outside in the common courtyard shared by the nearby restaurants, which adds to the ambience.
(4)R H.
Very good lebanese fast food do not expect it to be like a real Lebanese restaurant... After all it is a fast food! However they do make some real authentic Lebanese dishes that my mother used to prepare. I recommend it!
(4)Horus A.
The Shawarmas are dank. I think I've had better at Max's Kosher Cafe in Wheaton, but these are pretty good for what you can get in Rockville. I found out about their Monday special, where you can get a Shawarma platter for about $7 instead of the usual $10. The beef Shawarma hits the spot nicely. I'm an avid fan of Shawarmas, and while I'm sure that you can find better stuff out there than what the Taverna offers, these are a solid choice. The staff was nice, and I like the fact that they'll bring your food out to you (... and you don't have to tip them). It's good for lunch if you're in the area.

Many people ask me, where are you from, Tom? Are you Jewish? Are you hispanic/mexican? Are you Italian? The answer is no. I am Syrian. My grandfather was born there and moved her before he was 10, but my grandmother's parents emigrated to this country around the turn of the century and therefore I am 3rd generation Arab-American. Now that this ethnic question has been resolved, I will tell you that when it comes to the food that my Grandmother used to make for our family, nothing will ever top it. But this place is pretty close. Good lamb, tasty side dishes, great bread (it should be noted, grandma never baked her own bread when I visited her), and good falafel. Also, it is a cute little place, even though you order from a line and bus your own table. The little patio looks out on Rockville Town Center which is nice. Everything was pretty tasty and what was great was that I got to eat it with my family, including my dad, his sister, his mother, and my cousins. Nothing like a little family feast of middle eastern food for a Syrian family.
(4)Alan J.
I love this place! It reminds me of my moms home cooking which is a very difficult thing to do. I've been to this cafe as well as the restaurants and they are both amazing. And I love the almaza pilsner beer. I recommend the kabobs, chicken, chicken sandwich and the falafel.
(5)Esther O.
My first time going to Lebanese Taverna, and wow have I been missing out. Lebanese Taverna is so yum!! Fresh, really flavorful food, good prices... I'm a total fan. I need to go back and try more things! Lots of veggie options... yay! I got the Mediterranean mezze platter, and it was delicious. They were also happy to sub out the spinach pie for an extra grape leaf, so that made me happy. So much food - a filling dinner for $10 - I really appreciate that. The baklavas were kinda eh, only negative side. But I can't wait to go back!
(4)Claudia R.
Lebanese Taverna never seems to disappoint. I have tried almost everything on their menu. The house salad is always well dressed which I love and has a creamy lemony taste. The beef and lamb shawarma is always tender and juicy. It can get a little messy with the lemony tahini sauce but I LOVE it! The hummus and baba ganoush are also a must have. They are served with a generous amount of fragrant olive oil on top of the dip and piping hot freshly made pita bread (by far the best you can get this side of the middle east!). Every time I visit Lebanese Taverna, I take a couple dozen loafs of bread home. They are perfect to keep in your freezer for a quick sandwiches in your lunch or to dip in your favorite hummus.
(5)Tomás G.
Seems to be a bit overpriced and the service was slow during a weekday lunch but the food was decent enough to satisfy a craving.
(3)Lindsey W.
I generally love Lebanese Taverna and stopped in for quick bite to eat in the Rockville Town Center. Well quick was not the word to describe it, 10 minutes to get a sandwich when the restaurant was almost empty, unacceptable. I've eaten at a number of LT's in the area and none have been like this. The meat was over cooked and super dry never mind the time I had to wait. The pitta and hummus was their only saving grace but I don't think that should be the basis for my review. They need a serious upgrade at this location.
(1)Kjell M.
First off. I lived for two years in Lebanon, so i know a little bit about Lebanese food. I have been to this location and others several times over the years, and to this day i have not had a bad experience neither with their food, nor staff. The food they have is the basic fare: Falafel Kibbeh Grape Leaves Various Mezza platters Nothing over the top, but still a good selection of Lebanese food. The service is friendly and fast.
(3)Kellie D.
This place is pretty yummy, been there a few times and the food was good. I've gotten the traditional mezza platter each time and have really liked it, my only complaint is like one of the other reviewers, it starts getting a very strange sour taste in your mouth the more you eat it and you end up not being able to finish it b/c of it, so go with someone else and have them order something other than the mezza platter to clear out the taste. My boyfriend got the Lamb Schwarma which seemed pretty good too, nothing amazing, but wasnt bad either. he was really bummed that he didnt get sauce like i did for the falafals and he stole my sauce......
(4)Ju L.
Pros: American portions at Lebanese prices; sampler platter feeds 2 w/ left overs for another meal. Cons: N/A
(5)Maggie F.
This was my first time eating Lebanese food so I don't know how accurate my review will be. I got the Anna's Platter (rice, hummus, chicken, cucumber/onion/tomato side) with Chicken (you have the other option of beef), and it wasn't bad at all. Typically, I'm a fan of foods with strong flavors that shock me left and right.... however the Anna's Platter wasn't quite so. Having said that, the hummus and sour white cream (no idea what it's called--my deepest regrets) were pleasantly light on the palate and refreshing. Felt like I was taking a bite out of spring! Haha whatever that may mean. They gave you complimentary bread which came straight out of the oven--Yay, fresh! My companion burned his fingers due to such ignorance. I underestimated the amount of food on the plate, and I kept on eating bread with my meal. That quickly became WAY too filling--no exaggeration, I felt like exploding at the end of my meal--in a good way though. 'Cuz I'm a gal that likes food in big portions. I was very satisfied with my purchase. Very reasonable prices too. Definitely a place I'll visit again.

Although the name doesn't indicate it this is a Lebanese Taverna cafe though a nicer and bigger version than the one in Congressional Plaza a few miles away. The menu is pared down from the restaurant but most of the main things LT is known for are offered. On my most recent visit I got the hummus which was a little more soupy than usual but still tasty and the falafel which came out hot and fresh with a delicious crunchy coating. I also had an order of the rice with vermicelli which tasted a bit different from the restaurant version but was still good. I didn't try any of the desserts on the menu but they have a nice selection of international candy bars like Kinder Bueno and Aero. I do wish they offered a larger size for the cold drinks but you can get refills so it's not too big a deal. Also, this place gets very busy during lunch so if you want to miss the crowds try and get there before 11:45.
(4)Tim C.
Had the hommos which was just ok. Came with a couple pieces of pita which were purported to be heated. Also had the combo meat (lamb and chicken) kebab deal which was incredibly bland. Just really tasteless. Maybe this is par for the Lebanese Taverna course? I don't know. I won't be eating here again despite my frequent craving for food of this nature. On the plus side their carry out plastic was top-notch.
(2)Abheek S.
For the money and the convenience, Lebanese Taverna is a great option when you are in the Rockville Town Center area. I've only had their lamb and beef shawarma and the baklava. For a chain restaurant, the shawarma was pretty good. The hummus was also very good. I wouldn't go back for the baklava. Next time I walk in, I will definitely try Lamb Chops.
(4)Rhan K.
Some of the cheapest Lebanese food you can get around. It is nicer than just a fast food place but all the same has a very casual vibe. The food has been good every time I've tried it and the people who work there have always been super friendly. They are rarely very crowded and they have outdoor seating when it is nicer out.
(4)D V.
Not good. Wasnt impressed with the schawarma or the service.

Lebanese Taverna is definitely one of those places that did not impress me very much the first time around, but has proven its worth after numerous visits. Let me start by giving the only reasons it doesn't get five stars from me. 1) Not a very wide menu - even though I have found the dishes I like, I'm kind of afraid to bring friends here unless I know they like something Lebanese Taverna serves. 2) As some people have mentioned, it is not inexpensive. 3) You never know if they're going to have rice pudding or not - I'd say they've had it about 30-40% of the time I've been there. With all that said, even though the prices are a bit higher than most other "fast casual" places, I'd assert that the quality is a step higher, as well. I highly recommend their fatteh (I usually get the chicken (djaje), but they do also have lamb and vegetarian varieties) - if you like yogurt sauce, you will love this. It's basically a dish full of perfectly seasoned chicken, toasted pita chips, pine nuts, and garbanzo beans all in that creamy and tangy yogurt sauce. The reason I say the prices aren't bad is that I've had fatteh dishes from other Lebanese places that were exactly the same in both quantity and quality, but were $14, whereas you'll pay $10 for it at Lebanese Taverna. One other thing I mustn't neglect to mention is the bread. It's the bread they use for all of their sandwiches, but you'll also get it as a side if you order the fatteh. The bread is sooooooooooooooo awesome. It's sort of similar to pita bread, but is thinner yet fluffier at the same time, and it's warm when they serve it to you. Mmmmmmmmm.... I have to say, I like that this location is cafe-style. I won't go to any of the full-service Lebanese Tavernas because they are ridiculously expensive, plus I like being able to come here and get a reasonably quick meal without dealing with table service. I also like that they give you little buzzers (the same ones most restaurants give you when you're waiting for a table) that signal when your food is ready, so you can grab a table outside in the awesome square and not have to worry about hearing your name/number. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Also, the atmosphere is casual yet nice, and the bathrooms are CLEAN. Need I say more?
(4)Alexandra K.
Who has ever heard of a 3 cheese pizza from a Lebanese place? I love Middle Eastern food but I'm a vegetarian and found the options here rather limiting. There was a Noodles & Co. right around the corner, and my friend had never been, but I was craving Middle Eastern food. While what I got was only Middle Eastern as it was cooked on a pita, it was not traditional. Either way, it tasted good. I also ordered some grape leaves that were a bit too tangy, but still delicious. The highlight of this meal was the garlic sauce I ordered for my pizza. It was standard toum, very garlicky, very delicious. I'd definitely come back to Lebanese Taverna.

First time here! Food was pretty good...people are kind with a bright smile for you...Was kinda in a rush to see a movie though...I would go back again when not rushed :-) *Inception*
(4)Jim B.
The food was good, although slightly more expensive than I'd expect considering it's cafe-style eating. I ordered the salmon, while my girl got the lamb - which both came with a simple and refreshing house salad and passable rice. The hommos special we got was delicious - topped with ground meat, pine nuts, and almonds. The bread they give to wipe all this up with was hot and tasty. After all the traveling my girl and I had done that day, we were quite starving, so it irked me that the hommos came out with the entrees, and this was despite the fact that the friendly gentleman taking our order specifically asked if we wanted it to come out first as an appetizer. Service seemed a little disorganized in general, as I had to go inside to check on my order after excessive waiting. This is when I see my hommos appetizer sitting on the counter alongside my salmon order. They handed me what they had, then brought out the lamb to our table later. The restaurant was nearly empty, so I'm not sure of the cause for all this. Again, the food was good. The inside is beautiful with its earth tones, and there's a nice outdoor seating area with minimal traffic rolling by. I'd eat there again if I was in Rockville Town Square, but it wouldn't necessarily be a destination for me.

Actually this place deserves a 'zero'... no kidding! i really do not understand the positive reviews!! only people who have never had authentic middle eastern can pass it as a 'cheap and authentic' place... you might think on what basis I am making all the remarks? well, to begin with, we are from the Detroit area (which has the best middle eastern food outside the middle east) and its our second favorite cuisine after Indian :) so yes, i think i am eligible to make a judgement! When we moved here, we were pretty happy that the town square at least offered one Lebanese/middle eastern place! but seriously, all our hopes were washed away tonight :( i almost feel like weeping out of disappointment!!! what the heck? how can a middle eastern place not get its chicken shwarma right? how freaking difficult is it to fix a good shwarma? get me fresh garlic sauce and i can fix some mean shwarma in 5 mins!! Jesus christ i feel like suing this place for even offering such horrible shwarma ! this has to be the worst $8 ever spent believe me! the shwarma (if we can call it a shwarma) had the driest pita i have ever imagined! okay, i thought, hopefully the filling will redeem the pita, but omg i feel like throwing up just thinking bout the filling! the chicken was the saltiest chicken ever, plus NO freaking garlic sauce!?? are your kidding me? the description clearly mentioned it has garlic sauce! booo hooo :( how in gods name this place is still doing business i do not understand! they ought to be outta business man, its pure blasphemy to serve such crap as food to innocent unsuspecting people!!! PLEASE PLEASE people do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, if you really wanna eat something close to middle eastern, check out PITA HUT just across the street, its 100 times better!!
(1)aloha g.
We've eaten here about 4 times and each time the meat has been very dry. So dry and overcooked that it took the joy out of eating. We love middle eastern food, so this is too bad. We will not go here anymore.
(1)Ashley M.
I have been frequenting this Lebanese Taverna more since they started delivering. I think you have to have a minimum $25 order, but if you get 2 coworkers to order with you, you'll be covered. I usually get the mediterranean platter, which has a variety of vegetarian Lebanese classics (grape leaves, hummus, spinach pie, an eggplant thing and a cucumber salad) but the falafel is not bad either. My one complaint is that when you are eating the platter items, everything starts tasting a bit too... vinegary. Not sure how to describe it but when you're first eating, it's like OMG THIS IS SOOO DELICIOUS!" But when you're nearing finished, it's like "WHY DOES EVERYTHING TASTE LIKE VINEGAR?" Anyway, I've learned to save some of it and just eat the rest the next day, when your taste buds have recovered from the deliciousness.
(4)Lena Y.
Cute quiet little place. Me and a friend wanted to grab a bite before watching a movie, and we ended up here. For a cafe though, I think the price is a little too much, but they do give you a decent helping of food. I did especially enjoy the hummus special.
(3)julia l.
The grilled chicken salad is amazing! I always get it and people are always coming up to me after they put in their order and wishing that they knew about it. It's under "entrees" on the menu and it's not a side salad. You get PLENTY of chicken and the dressing is delicious! It fills me up for lunch and I usually don't do salads when I go out to eat because i don't believe that it's satisfying. However, this particular grilled chicken salad is an exception. I've had their other dishes which are OK. I think the mezza dishes are better at the Congressional Plaza location.
(4)Anne D.
This location is counter service, you order, pay and they give you a buzzer when it's ready. A good deal is "Olivia's Platter" - you pick three mezza for $7.95. The pita is fresh out of the oven, and the kibbeh is hot. I like the shakshouky (cold eggplant salad). I think worth splurging on the house lemonade - it has an unusual tangy-ness.
(3)Jen L.
I was not too impressed. First of all, I did not like sour taste of the food. I suppose it was just not my cup of tea. Secondly, the inside of restaurant was hot and humid - they should have turned on the air conditioning. Lastly, the prices were a bit high for the food, service, and uncomfortably hot and humid ambiance. You'd think that with the cafeteria style operation and no air conditioning, they would be able to charge less for the food, but that's not the case.
(2)Tammy N.
I just went there a couple nights ago when my friends and I were looking for places to eat after happy hour. I thought the food was really great. I ordered the combo kabobs (lamb and chicken) which came with their version of a pita bread, a small salad, and rice for $15. I didn't try any of the hummus but my friends did and it looked good. I really like the cafeteria style seating. You order your food, they give you a buzzer which notifies you when your food is ready, and you find a booth/table in their contemporary seating area. The booths are comfy and my friends and I stayed there for a couple hours chatting without being bothered by service staff which was awesome. I definitely will be back again (their bread is awesome!).
(5)Amanda P.
Delicious! I got chicken kabobs and my fiance got the Traditional Platter. The kabobs were a tad dry but everything on the platter was wonderful. Plus they give you homemade pitas with this incredible garlic-butter-yogurt-type sauce and I could have eaten a gallon! When you want something relatively quick without a server and are sick of Panera-type cafes this is your place!
(4)Teresa M.
I love the falafel sandwich! Sometimes the taboui is too lemony for me...but I do love just about everything else here.
(4)Hula H.
ok so the food wasnt' inedible, just in my opinion not really authentic. More like commercial or like a chain restaurant. I orderd the mezzah platter and did not care for the dolmades and my falafel was fried so crispy they were like little rocks. It is kinda hard to mess up hummus, so that was ok. The portion was extremely small, even for lunch and I felt it was overpriced JUST because of that, the portions. I order lots of lebanese/middle eastern food and I think it is pricey, its to be expected when it is homemade bread and they are raising the lambs in the back or something, then the charge is warranted. I do not mind paying for quality food and I do not complain about prices but I went here with a groupon and I am STILL dissapointed. My hubby got the chicken kebab and there were exactly four small pieces of chicken cubes in some red sauce, with vermicilli rice and and a feta cheese salad. There was one other elderly couple in there on a friday at 1:30pm. On the upside, it was very clean and decorated nicely. The lebanese candy for $2 for a pack of four was AWFUL. It was rock hard I could not even chew it, I ended up throwing it out. I would not come back here. I will stick with my favorite, House of Mayhan kebab, which I should write a review about right now because that is some REAL lebanese food.
(2)M. P.
I prefer this location over the one in Congressional Plaza. I don't go as often as I used to but still go occasionally. Great place. Food is good and "just enough" - love the Eggplant Fatteh (SP?). Good people as well.
(4)A. F.
Yummy, fast, and casual. Had the falafel and it was light and crispy. Portions are good for the price. A good go-to place for Lebanese/Middle Eastern. I've had the shwarma before too, and its also pretty good.
(4)Zoya G.
I probably eat here once a week. So tasty and quick! I like the grilled chicken salad, the kafta sandwich, and the lentil soup. In nice weather, the outdoor seating is awesome!
(5)Mike S.
Unlike the Lebanese Taverna in Bethesda -- this one doesn't offer table service -- you just order at the counter and eat at one of the dine-in tables, or at the outdoor tables in Rockville Town Center. Very good food and a great value -- especially on Monday nights when the offer 25% off all sandwich platters. Also very kid friendly.
(4)Nikki G.
I love Lebanese Taverna! That garlic sauce can't be beat :)
(4)G M.
Good, dependable Middle Eastern food. Unlike some other locations of this chain, this does not have sitdown/waiter service. But food is up to par and fairly priced.
