Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Jonathan's is a great neighborhood local bar and Publick House.. it SHOULD be famous for it's pizza.... it's overall rating .. good times.. service...ambience...quality of food and drink... I'd say the place is fairly impeccable ! 5 stars for sure ! The staff-- visible and invisible... Effie and Her Husband... and Shaun... and Lydia and Her Husband.. the crew who are owners ..... they wrote the book on understanding the human element... Veronica, Brenda, Elleyse, Kim, Sharon.. and anyone who I am forgetting.. the wait staff/bartenders DO their part to make Your experience a great one ! No foolin' ! As for the multiple cadres of sports teams who frequent the place.... they are legendary too ! Great times .... The Restaurant area has eccentric artwork.. and photos of movie stars from the 1930's onward... with antique Beer and Liquor advertisements intermixed .... It kind of makes You feel You are being interviewed by Robert Osbourne on Turner Classic Movies ! (TCM) Food is very good... not pricey.. GREAT specials... and if You like gigantic steins of assorted draft beer brands ? This be the place !! Lydia, Rudy and Soame... they craft the dishes of food that will make You quite happy !!! I particularly like their Corn Beef A La Muggs, The portions and taste of their hot chicken wings, their Steak and Cheese, and their Burgers are about big enough to punt !!! Shaun and Kim... Sharon... and Marilyn ?? They can mix You any liquor/mixed drink Your heart desires. You have to experience Jonathans.. it is in the same strata as Cheers for a neighborhood watering hole !! The Music coming out of the state of the art juke box ? Just grand ! You have to experience Jonathans ! Do Yourself a favour ! Come on out!

My husband works near this restaurant so when he can get away from the office we meet at Jonathan's for lunch. It's good pub food--hot crisp French fries, stuffed hoagies, fresh salads, and decent entrees. The French onion soup is really good--not too sweet like some places. At lunch time it seems like it's mostly County employees and Leisure World residents mixed in with the regulars. Service is always good, we can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time since husband has to go back to work. Jonathan's and Barnaby's (in Wheaton now closed) were once owned by the same people and the menus are very similar if anyone is nostalgic for an "Old World Grinder" and fries.

A long story short, a friend's mom recommended this place to us as a place to dine if we were in the neighborhood. My husband and I, hungry for food, but too demoralized to be creative and hunt down something spectacular, drove the 3 blocks to Jonathan's for dinner. Set in an old and desperately depressing strip mall, Jonathan's is easily overlooked. Wedged between a 7-11 and something unmemorable, I must have driven past this place a thousand times, and would have driven past it a thousand more times if our friend's mom didn't point this place out to us. However, once we walked in, it was evident that Jonathan's doesn't cater to anyone but locals that live in the neighborhood and are in the mood for a beer and to catch a game. Although there is a no smoking rule in MoCo, the scent of stale cigarette smoke still lingers in the bar area. Fortunately, the dining room is completely separate and toward the back. We started off with the mini-taco appetizer, mostly because we had no idea what it was, and my husband ordered the Bubba (BBQ chicken sandwich). I waffled between the Salisbury Steak and the Sauteed Burger, but when the waitress described the Salisbury Steak as pre-made, I went with the burger, and was very glad I did. The mini-tacos were literally tiny tacos. Bite-sized (OK, 2 bites) taco shells, stuffed with ground meat, served with chips, nacho cheese (from a can), and salsa (from a jar). While not terribly delicious, there was something incredibly addictive about them, as both my husband and I ate the whole basket without noticing. Hmph! Neat trick! My husband enjoyed his Bubba, and I really enjoyed my burger. A large, thick and juicy burger on a kaiser roll, topped with sauteed onions, peppers and mushrooms, it was quite tasty. The burger was unseasoned - it was basically a plain beef patty - which I normally don't like, but with the sauteed veggies, it tasted great! The burger didn't come with lettuce or tomato, which I would have enjoyed, however it did come with crispy and lightly battered fries! YUM! The next time I come, I'm ordering just a plate of the fries! We also ordered dessert. There isn't a dessert menu, just a beautiful case full of foot tall cakes and lucious looking pies. I ordered the key-lime which tasted flimy and way too sweet. My husband ordered the chocolate mousse cake that he promptly inhaled, so I'm going to assume it was delicious. There was no ice cream however, which was disappointing, but they did have ice cold milk, which is the next best thing (according to my husband...I dislike dairy in all it's forms, unless it's fancy overpriced cheeses). Our server was hilarious. She was bubbly and fun, without being intrusive. She had a sense of humor about not knowing what a Salisbury Steak was (neither did I), and was in general just a fun. I normally don't like my wait staff to have too much personality. I come to eat, not to make friends, however for a place like Jonathan's, having servers with a sense of humor and a sense of fun, makes the experience. While the food was decent and the service was fun, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I have a feeling that Jonathan's may feel the same way, as this is definitely a hang-out for the locals. However, that being said, I seriously hope that our offer on the house gets accepted so that I can be one of the locals that pull in for the Salisbury Steak specials :)

This is a great little neighborhood bar/ restaurant. Good place for a quick bite or to watch the game. They have about 5 or 6 TVs and a good happy hour. If you like mixed drinks you will get your moneys worth! You have to check out there cake and pies, wicked good selection!!

While the website link is not at all accurate of Jonathan's, I like it a lot, especially the dining room, which is usually not very noisy, except for the two television sets. If people aren't watching them, I ask the wait staff to turn them off, which they will do, as I don't like televisions blaring at me, while I am eating, as this seems to be the trend, in restaurants, now. I especially enjoy their Greek salad, before my meal, without any meat or shrimp added. I ask for Romaine lettuce, as sometimes if I don't they use Iceberg lettuce. I also ask for Italian Dressing, which compliments the salad very well. When I am with my wife, My wife and I split this, when she is with me, as it is large enough to split and still have plenty for both of us, even though we both like salads. We both also like the Reuben ala Jonathan's. It is the best Reuben I have ever eaten, and I have eaten them in New York City. My wife has, too, and she asks for extra Thousand Island Dressing for her. This, too, is large enough to split, and have enough for both of us. The reuben comes with french fries, but we always upgrade to onion rings, for a dollar extra, and they are worth it. Jonathan's always has a very good dessert selection, although they don't make the desserts themselves. The atmosphere is bare-bones but has a neighborhood feel. The wait staff always has been very nice. Should they not be, for some reason, speak with Shawn, one of the owners, who is usually tending the bar. He wears a baseball cap and is a very nice guy. He wants to make your experience pleasurable, and he especially wants good customers to return. The prices are reasonable, for the quality of the food: $8.79 for the Greek salad (without any meat or shrimp added) and $7.49 for the Reuben, plus $1.00 for the onion rings. I have also enjoyed the Crab cake sandwich, which is $8.29. All of the prices are as of the writing of this review. Also, if you like to watch sports games, in a bar, Jonathan's has a lively, fun bar, with several big-screen, high-definition televisions. They have satellite television, so they get a lot of the sporting events. Supposedly, there is Wi-Fii, but I have never been there when it is working, although the only reason I use it, when I am eating is to minimize data usage on my smartphone, if I have to use my smartphone for some type of data. I have never seen anyone using a laptop, there. There is parking, in the lot, right in front of Jonathan's, which is located in what used to be called a strip mall, but, of course, now malls are huge. Jonathan's is in an older, say 1950's strip, shopping plaza, with about ten other stores. Anyway, you don't have to walk very far to get inside. There are one or two handicapped parking spots, but often they are taken. Even so, there is plenty of convenient parking available, in the parking lot. I think name is Jonathan's Sports Pub, as that is what the menu says and the outdoor sign, but it's the same place.

Now I have probably been to Jonathan's about 150 times at least over the past 3 years. I go there to eat 1-3 nights a week. You have to watch what you order and the consistency in quality and portion size from one day to the next can vary. Years ago they had awesome cakes and pies, but they have cheaped out on them in the past year or 1.5 years. So I no longer can recommend that. The pizza is not bad for bar pizza, pretty good actually. Their chicken dishes are fine enough and a great price. Just don't think fresh food here when you come, as the only fresh items are probably their tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. So that said, their Caesar salad is pretty good and healthiest thing on the menu if you get the dressing on the side. I love the crowd here; it's a working man/woman's bar mostly. It does get a bit rowdy on weekends, so stay away Fri/Sat night if you want something calm. Not really a happy hour to recommend as it ends by 6pm and is only about 50 cents off any given drink. Oh, and if you do like to drink sometimes, this is a great place to come and relax or watch a game on the TVs they have around the bar. Awesome bar staff all around!

Local bar is all I can really say. The food is always good and the drinks are stiff. There is a restaurant section in the back. Mostly locals go to the bar but everyone I've taken there has loved the "Cheers" like atmosphere.

It's exactly what you would want from a sports pub... waitstaff is cheery and know all the regulars, good drink selection, good pub menu... caters to sports teams after their game and people looking to unwind. can be missed if driving past and you don't know its there, but worth a stop in.

This place used to be great especially when its founder owned the place. The founder of this place was one of the original founders of Barnabies in Wheaton, that is sadly now defunct. Their interior were very similar and the grinders were always overflowing with meat. But sadly the one is Wheaton was sold to a Russian who with the help of the bartenders ran it into the ground and out of business. The other night I ate here and the wings were way overcooked to the point where they could not be eaten. The poppers were generic and lacked any bite. The potato skins although tasty lacked a lot of toppings. I ordered the bean soup which used to be great but this time was out of a can. The grinders were skimpy and the bread was limp. The gyro platter was lacking in taste. The fish & chips were very greasy and the "extra large" crab cakes were neither extra large nor crab as they were about 80% filler. The chili and chili cheese fries were the best thing we had but the chili needs some spice added. Would I come back......probably not and would not recommend to anyone looking for a meal. Now if you are coming for drinks and chips yes it is a nice place with a good crowd.

Divey kinda bar with pretty good food and full bar. The beer specials are pretty good too an compared to other places in Rockville, CHEAP. I've been twice and I will go back.

If you are looking for a small dive with the best service from the friendliest staff, excellent food, and stiff drinks Jonathans is perfect for you! I have been frequenting this local watering hole for two months. I moved to Rockville in March and I am lucky I live near Jonathans, because it's the best. You immediately feel like part of the crowd. There are many locals and regulars who are all very nice and welcoming. The bartenders are your new best friends. They remember you by name and talk with you on your first visit as if you had been coming for years. The beers are cold and the drinks are strong, so you are guaranteed to get your money's worth and leave happy. They have drink specials frequently. Domestic bottles are $2.50 on Mondays and Wednesdays all day. The five TVs that surround the bar can play anything you would like to watch as you unwind from the day and socialize with the friendly staff and customers. The food at Jonathans is fantastic. You are free to eat at the bar or at one of the tables or booths in the bar area. They also have a big back room that could accommodate parties of around 50-75 or so. I was unsure what to expect on my first visit, but all of the food I have tried has been good. I highly recommend the Rubens and Gyros. The Ruben has perfectly buttery toasted bread, the thin shaved corned beef is always fresh, and it has just the right amount of 'krout and dressing. The Gyro meat is as good as I have ever had. It's shaved thin, super flavorful, and piled high. The guys in the kitchen are really nice and take pride in everything they put out. They will even come out and ask you how it is, and make it right if you are not completely satisfied. I can't say enough about this place. By no means is it fancy, but just right if you are looking for a small quaint local pub. You can expect to make new friends right from the start, and may see me there!

Jonathans is your local neighborhood bar. It's the modern-day Cheers where everyone knows your name. Decor is old school black white and red, the dining room sports all the original menu boards and 60's beer memorabilia and signed pictures. Sure in today's age everybody is looking for modern new hipster ambience but screw that, a heavy pour and good bar food always wins out!!! If you have a family, dining room is perfect totally separate from the bar. Their Jonathan special pizza spot on! Steak and cheese, Greek gyro wrap, Sante Fe, chicken bruschette and a tasty burger are some our favs. Drinks & food are reasonably priced and did I mention a heavy a pour :) Drink up, eat up and enjoy!

My previous review of Jonathan's has a lot more detail. This is an update based on my most recent experience. Jonathan's has been a favorite place of mine for years, but unfortunately I can no longer eat gluten, and they have almost zero gluten-free items. I ordered a Greek salad but there was either gluten in the bottled Italian dressing they serve, or in their tzatziki sauce (I only had a tiny bit). I also had one french fry, which could have done it if it was cooked in the wrong oil. Typically these types of dressings and fries are okay, but their version is not. Either that, or there is just too much wheat in their kitchen -- they do serve a lot of breaded items so it's a possibility that there was cross contamination. The server was not knowledgeable about their items and she kept referring to "the gluten". She also said the Italian dressing label did not indicate "gluten". The ingredients label doesn't typically mention gluten, it mentions wheat or a derivative of wheat. I will not be back only because they don't cater to different dietary needs. The food is good if you can eat it but there is a lot of breaded items. Their gyro (veggie) and their salads are fantastic. They're jut not safe for people who cannot have gluten. Other notes: The server I really liked doesn't appear to work here anymore. Also, the venue smelled really funky like dirty mop water - everywhere

Food is freshly prepared and hot and very tasty! If you like to sample the local fare and support the local eateries, give this place a try - you will NOT be disappointed!!

I hope they never close. The people are friendly. Their pizza is one of my favorites in the area. Will go out of the way to get it. It smells so good. Jonathan's special w no meat. They have odd Saturday hours, but that's their prerogative. People seem to be having a great time there.

What great service, friendly and attentive for us newbies. Initially I was disappointed that there were no craft beers, but then I almost slapped myself thinking it. Don't be such a snob. PUBLICK House - come for the good times, touch tunes, good company. I was very happy with my very large Mug of Miller light, my husband had the Hoegaarden on tap. Love the dive-bar ambience. The back restaurant could hold larger parties and looks like it could get very lively on weekends and during Redskins games. Definitely a Redskins Bar. French Onion Soup: I agree with Sharon W. that this soup is great b/c it's not too sweet. It's nice and savory with creamy cheese browned on top. It doesn't taste artificial or too salty like other failed French Onion Soups. Taco salad with beef: okay but I prefer my beef crumbled and not a broken up patty. Gyro platter: excellent. The meat was tender and moist. Pepperoni pizza: Crust was too dense and "crackery" for my taste but still good bar food and judging from the other reviewers, a lot of people like it.

This place is interesting... I think everyone that goes there is great, although most people are insanely intoxicated. No one ever gets belligerent or rude. My boyfriend and I live rather close, so we go for Caps games, etc once in a while. The food is okay, nothing extraordinary but I am a fan of simple, American food so I'm totally fine with it. :-)

Hole in the wall - check. Local neighborhood bar - check. Major find - DEFINITELY. Why? Because it is completely free of the pretentiousness you find in all the corporate chain bars in the area, no one on the staff or at the bar makes you feel like an outsider for being not being a regular, the beer is ICE COLD, the menu is pretty diverse and the food is pretty much what you'd expect (ie. don't go in looking for a gourmet experience). The best part of Jonathan's is Sean. Low-key waiter, bartender, resident smart ass, thoroughly entertaining. Marilyn also knew her way around the menu which was pretty helpful.
(4)Sarah K.
Jonathan's... The pub where everyone knows your name. From drinks that give you your money's worth to outgoing and smart ass bartenders like Sean this place is a best kept secret and a hole in the wall that's worth checking out.
(4)Mike J.
Good ole neighborhood bar, I come here at least 3 times a week for lunch when im at work, the employees will start calling you by your name and know what you wanna get lol. The food has never been bad and they always have a daily special. Just a good ole fashioned bar I love it.

Good steak n chesse

I am giving Jonathan's 5 stars because where else can you go in this entire county to a sit down restaurant, order 2 entrées, 2 drinks, include 15% tip and the total is $27? Wife and I dined there this past weekend and we both had the Gyro platter. Not only was the amount of food generous, it was good! I agree with the other reviews, Jonathan's is a hidden gem!
(5)Jouvani H.
Need to learn customer service! Rep have an attitude to just tell me they were closed. Bad for business. I was looking forward in getting food from here but have me a bad taste in my mouth!

Living in the DC-VA-MD metro area, you sometimes forget that there are still townie bars out there. A couple of my friends come to this townie bar on a somewhat weekly or biweekly basis. So I decided to join them recently. We started off in the dining area and had a couple mugs of beer and a burger for dinner. This room is a bit more quiet, so we were able to chat and catch up on each others' lives. The beer was fine, the burger was decent, though nothing particularly spectacular. The fries were good though! After dinner, we moved to the bar area where they serve the larger steins of beers. You could tell who the regulars were and the bar staff were really nice and welcoming to any newbies like me by introducing themselves and all. It's refreshing to know there are these divey establishments around where you can get cheap beer and no judgement when you walk into the door.
